Best overall: Chipolo POP is the strongest cited choice for a keyring because it works with Apple Find My and Google Find Hub, supports unwanted-tracking protections on current iOS and Android versions, and includes free out-of-range alerts. Best for alarm volume: Pebblebee Clip 5, measured at 97 dB by Engadget. Best wallet tracker: Pebblebee Card Universal, which has a rechargeable design rated for up to 18 months per charge.
Anti-stalking protection is delivered mainly by the phone and finding-network software, not by the Bluetooth tag alone. Android and compatible Apple devices can warn you when a tracker separated from its owner appears to travel with you, show where it was detected, let you play its sound, and explain how to disable it.
Quick picks
| Tracker | Best for | Why it stands out |
|---|---|---|
| Chipolo POP | Cross-platform keyring use | Works with Apple Find My and Google Find Hub; loud alarm, keyring hole and free out-of-range alerts. Chipolo documents periodic beeping when a compatible unfamiliar tracker moves with you. |
| Pebblebee Clip 5 | The loudest alarm | Engadget measured the alarm at 97 dB in 2026 testing. It supports the universal Apple and Google networks and recharges over USB-C. |
| Pebblebee Card Universal | Wallets and slim spaces | Rechargeable card format, loud alarm, status LEDs and up to 18 months of battery per charge. |
| Pebblebee Tag Universal | Remotes, bags and small objects | Compact rechargeable design, loud alarm, bright LEDs and up to eight months per charge. |
The universal products are identified as supporting both Apple Find My and Google Find Hub. Confirm the instructions for the exact generation before buying: some trackers can be connected to only one finding network at a time even when the product family supports both.

A Bluetooth tracker is designed to help locate an item, not to identify a person following you. The anti-stalking layer looks for an ownership mismatch: a tracker that is away from its owner and repeatedly appears to travel with another person. Detection is performed by participating phones and their finding-network software.

How an Android unknown-tracker alert is triggered
Google’s Android Help documentation says, “When someone else’s tracker device is separated from their owner and is far away from their Android phone, an unknown tracker alert is sent.” The software evaluates movement over time rather than treating every nearby Bluetooth signal as a threat. A tracker left in a café, for example, should not automatically produce the same warning as one that continues along your route.
When Android determines that an unfamiliar compatible tracker may be moving with you, the alert can show a map of where the tracker traveled. You can play the tag’s sound without notifying its owner, inspect your belongings and follow manufacturer-specific instructions to turn the device off. Google provides disable guidance for AirTag, Chipolo, Motorola and Pebblebee devices.
What Chipolo adds
Chipolo’s support documentation says Find My-compatible Chipolos support unwanted-tracking protections on iOS 17.5 and later and Android 6 and later. If an unfamiliar compatible tracker is seen moving with you over time, an “Item Found Moving With You” alert appears; Chipolo also starts beeping periodically. The beeping is useful when the tag is hidden in a bag or vehicle, but it is not a substitute for the phone alert.

An alert identifies a tracking-device pattern, not the owner’s intent. Google specifically notes benign situations such as traveling with someone who owns a tracker, carrying borrowed keys or luggage, or sharing a household vehicle. Treat the warning seriously, but inspect the context before assuming criminal behavior. If you feel unsafe, move to a populated place and contact a trusted person or local emergency services.

“Up to” battery figures are manufacturer or store specifications, not guaranteed results. Actual runtime changes with sound use, temperature, firmware, network activity and charging habits. The 97 dB figure is a measurement from Engadget’s comparison, not a manufacturer maximum.
Chipolo POP: best universal keyring choice
Choose POP when one household includes both iPhone and Android users and the tracker will live on keys, a backpack or a pet carrier. Its keyring hole avoids an extra holder, and Tom’s Guide reports a loud alarm and free out-of-range alerts. Those out-of-range notifications are a convenience feature: they tell you that your tagged item has moved beyond the phone’s normal connection range. They are separate from an unknown-tracker warning, which concerns a tag you do not own.

Anti-stalking support
Chipolo’s documented behavior is unusually specific. On iOS 17.5 or later and Android 6 or later, a compatible unfamiliar tracker that travels with you can produce the “Item Found Moving With You” alert and periodic beeps. Compatibility still depends on the particular POP generation, firmware and the finding network to which it is connected.
Alarm and battery trade-offs
POP is described as loud, but the cited material contains no primary measurement directly comparable with the Clip 5’s 97 dB result. The available product notes do not state whether its battery is rechargeable or replaceable, so check the exact package specification if avoiding charging is important.
Pebblebee Clip 5: strongest choice when sound matters
The Clip 5 is the clearest pick for a tracker that must be heard through a noisy room, coat pocket or packed bag. Engadget measured its alarm at 97 dB in 2026, the loudest result in that comparison. No equivalent laboratory-style number is supplied for POP, Card Universal or Tag Universal, so it would be misleading to rank those alarms by volume.
Network and charging
Pebblebee describes its universal line as supporting Apple Find My and Google Find Hub. Clip 5’s battery-life claim is 12 months, and it recharges through USB-C. A rechargeable cell eliminates routine battery replacement but creates a new failure mode: a forgotten charge can leave the tag silent when you need it. Set a calendar reminder or recharge it whenever you charge other travel electronics.
Anti-stalking qualification
The cited Clip 5 material establishes network compatibility and alarm performance, but not a separate model-specific description of every unwanted-tracking alert. Its protection therefore depends on the Apple or Google network and phone software used with it. Confirm the current setup instructions and whether the unit can be enrolled in both networks simultaneously.

Pebblebee Card Universal: best wallet format
Card Universal is shaped for a wallet, passport sleeve, document pouch or another flat compartment where a keyring tag is awkward. Google Store specifications list a rechargeable battery lasting up to 18 months per charge, a loud alarm and LEDs. The LEDs help when the card is in a dim room or under loose papers, while the speaker provides an audible search signal.

The long rated interval reduces charging frequency, but “up to 18 months” is not a promise that every owner will reach that figure. Frequent alarms, temperature extremes and other usage conditions can shorten it. Check the card periodically instead of waiting for a low-battery warning, especially before travel.
Card Universal is identified as compatible with Google Find Hub and Apple Find My. As with every universal tracker, verify whether your particular unit can remain registered to both services or must be switched between them.
Pebblebee Tag Universal: compact rechargeable option
Tag Universal suits a television remote, camera bag, small case or other item that has no convenient keyring loop. Google Store specifications describe a compact body, loud alarm, bright LEDs and up to eight months of battery life per charge. The LEDs are useful for visual searching, while the sound helps when the item is hidden behind furniture.
The shorter rated runtime than Card Universal means more frequent charging. If the tag is attached to an emergency bag or rarely used equipment, inspect its charge on a regular schedule. It supports both Google Find Hub and Apple Find My according to the store specification, with the same network-enrollment caveat as the other universal models.
Which tracker fits your situation?
For a mixed iPhone and Android household
Start with Chipolo POP or one of Pebblebee’s universal models. The cited sources identify these families as compatible with both major finding networks. Before pairing, read the model’s instructions: “supports both” does not necessarily mean one physical tag can be actively registered with both services at once.
For the loudest alarm
Pick Pebblebee Clip 5 if the 97 dB Engadget measurement is your deciding criterion. POP is also described as loud, but there is no directly comparable primary measurement in the cited material. Card Universal and Tag Universal add LEDs, which can matter more than a small difference in speaker output when the item is visible but overlooked.

For a wallet
Use Pebblebee Card Universal. Its flat rechargeable body is designed for wallets and small spaces, and its stated battery life of up to 18 months per charge is the longest among the listed Pebblebee products.
For the least charging attention
Among the named products, Card Universal has the longest stated interval, followed by Clip 5 and Tag Universal. POP’s battery type and interval are not established in the cited material. If you do not want any charging routine, look for a replaceable-battery tracker and verify that it supports the finding network and anti-stalking protections your phones use.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Set up a tracker without weakening safety features
- Update the phone. Install the latest available iOS or Android updates. Chipolo’s documented protections require iOS 17.5 or later or Android 6 or later, and newer system releases may change alert behavior.
- Choose the finding network. Pair the tracker with Apple Find My on an iPhone or Google Find Hub on Android according to the model’s instructions. For a universal model, confirm whether simultaneous enrollment is supported or whether switching networks erases the previous registration.
- Test the sound. Place the tracker where it will normally be used, trigger the ring from the finding app and confirm that the alarm is audible. Test again with the item inside a bag or wallet; walls and fabric can reduce the practical volume.
- Check notification settings. Allow Bluetooth, location and finding-network notifications. These settings help your phone locate your own items and receive safety warnings.
- Record the model and disable method. Keep the manufacturer’s instructions accessible. If an unknown-tracker warning appears later, knowing the model saves time.
- Schedule charging if required. Put rechargeable models on a calendar. A tag with a flat battery cannot ring for an item search or make a periodic anti-stalking beep.
What to do when your phone finds an unknown tracker
- Open the alert and review the map. Note the times and route shown. The map indicates where the phone detected the tracker; it does not identify the person carrying it.
- Play the sound. Android allows you to make the tracker ring without notifying its owner. Listen in your clothing, luggage, vehicle and any borrowed item.
- Consider innocent explanations. Ask whether you are traveling with someone who owns a tracker or carrying borrowed keys, luggage or equipment. Do not discard the alert simply because a benign explanation is possible; use the remaining steps to identify the device.
- Identify the hardware. Look for the model name, logo or serial information and compare it with the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Disable the tracker itself. Follow the specific instructions for that model. Turning off Bluetooth, location services or airplane mode on your phone does not stop the owner from receiving location updates. The tracker must be disabled.
- Get help if you feel threatened. Preserve the alert and map details, go to a public location and contact a trusted person or local emergency services. An unknown-tracker alert is not a complete personal-safety system.
Manual scans and common limitations
Run a manual scan when you are concerned
Google’s Android tools include a manual scan that takes about 10 seconds. Use it when you suspect a tracker but have not received an automatic warning. A scan is a snapshot, not proof that no tracker exists: the device may be out of range, inactive, incompatible with the scan or not yet moving with you long enough to meet the alert criteria.
Network coverage is not universal
Finding-network location updates depend on compatible phones participating nearby. A tracker in a sparsely populated area, a shielded container or a place with limited connectivity may update slowly or not at all. Anti-stalking behavior also depends on operating-system version, firmware, network participation and whether the exact tracker is covered by the relevant unwanted-tracking specification.
Sound is not guaranteed in every condition
A loudness rating is measured under a particular test setup. Soft furnishings, a closed vehicle, a wallet compartment or a low battery can make a tag harder to hear. LEDs can improve visual searching, but they may be hidden as well.

Live US list prices were not verified for these individual models, so no reliable price ranking is provided. A Pebblebee Family Flight Kit was observed at $86.99, but that is a bundle price and should not be substituted for the price of Clip 5, Card Universal or Tag Universal. Check the manufacturer’s US listing and the retailer listing on the day you buy, confirm the exact generation and verify what is included in the box.
- Confirm the product name includes the universal version if you need both Apple and Google compatibility.
- Check whether the tracker can be registered to both networks simultaneously.
- Read the battery specification: rechargeable models need a charging plan; replaceable-battery models need spare cells.
- Look for the supported operating-system versions and unwanted-tracking behavior in the current support documentation.
- Check the attachment method and dimensions so a wallet card, clip or keyring body fits the item you intend to protect.
- Do not treat “loud” as a standardized measurement unless a test method and dB figure are supplied.
Final recommendation
Choose Chipolo POP for the best documented cross-platform keyring experience and periodic unwanted-tracker beeping. Choose Pebblebee Clip 5 when the independently measured 97 dB alarm is more important than charging once a year. Choose Pebblebee Card Universal for a wallet, or Tag Universal for a compact rechargeable tag with LEDs. Whichever model you buy, keep the phone updated, verify the network enrollment, maintain the battery and learn how to disable the hardware itself.
