Short answer: A Bluetooth controller with a physical D-pad is a sensible place to start, but no controller in this list is documented as a universal way to operate every Android screen without touch. Android’s Bluetooth pairing and controller settings can help, yet whether buttons move through menus depends on your device, Android version, launcher, and the app you need to use.
Can a Bluetooth controller navigate Android without touch?
Sometimes—but controller support in a game is not the same as control of Android’s system interface. A gamepad may work in a compatible game while failing to move focus through Settings, a launcher, or another app. Android’s Android 8.0 Compatibility Definition requires an input mechanism, such as touch or non-touch navigation, for moving among UI elements. It also defines gamepad inputs for devices that declare gamepad support. Neither point promises that every Android screen or app accepts gamepad input.
A D-pad is a practical feature to look for because it can provide directional input where an interface exposes focusable items. But the available documentation does not establish that Android interfaces expose those items consistently. Treat the models below as candidates to verify, not as guaranteed touchscreen replacements.

A telescopic phone grip can make a controller more convenient for handheld play, but it is not evidence that Android menus will be easier to navigate. Do not choose among these models on the assumption of proven cross-device navigation, latency, comfort, battery life, or durability; the cited documentation does not establish those comparisons.
How to pair a controller with Android
Google documents Bluetooth pairing and controller settings for compatible connected controllers. Menu wording can vary by device manufacturer.

How to decide whether one will meet your needs
- Check the Android version first. The Pro 3 and Ultimate Mobile Gaming Controller – Xbox Edition product pages specify Android 13.0 and above. Confirm your phone or tablet meets the stated requirement.
- Test the exact interface. If possible, check the launcher, Settings screens, and apps you intend to use. Recognition by Android or by a game does not prove that another screen will respond.
- Look for a physical D-pad. It is a useful directional control when an interface supports focus navigation; it cannot make a non-focusable screen controllable by itself.
- Separate app and system requirements. A controller advertised for Android games may work in those games without controlling Android’s general interface.
- Check remapping needs. Google describes button and joystick swaps for supported controller settings, while the Pro 3 product page also lists button-remapping software. Neither fact guarantees that a particular app will accept the remapped input.
What to expect in practice
If your goal is to play controller-supported Android games, the manufacturer descriptions are relevant evidence of that use. If your goal is to unlock a phone, move through Settings, operate a launcher, or use a particular app entirely without touch, verify each task on your own device before relying on a gamepad. The available official documentation supports Bluetooth pairing and some controller configuration, not universal control of Android’s full interface.
