Match the mouse to your hand and grip
A specification sheet cannot tell you whether a shell will create pressure at your knuckles, force your wrist outward or leave your fingertips unsupported. Measure your hand from the wrist crease to the tip of the middle finger, then compare that measurement with the manufacturer’s dimensions when available. If you can handle the mouse in a store, keep your palm and fingers in your normal playing position for several minutes rather than judging by a quick lift.

Palm grip
Palm users rest much of the hand on the shell and usually benefit from a fuller rear hump and enough length to support the palm without pushing the fingertips over the front. A right-handed ergonomic model can feel natural if your wrist angle is consistent; an ambidextrous shell is preferable when you switch hands or dislike a pronounced side contour. Lower mass and a shell that does not crowd the hand can reduce the effort of repeated repositioning, but an ultra-light body is not automatically easier to control. A mouse that is too narrow may increase finger tension. Try your normal sensitivity and a full practice session before deciding that a lower weight is better.
Left-handed, right-handed and changing hands
Right-handed ergonomic contours are built around one hand and may be awkward when shared. Record which buttons you actually use before installing both sets; unused protrusions can become accidental presses during a firefight.

Weight, sensor numbers and polling rate: what they do and do not tell you
Weight changes the physical effort required to start, stop and reverse a swipe. A controllable weight is more useful than the lowest advertised number. Tom’s Guide’s 2026 buying guide likewise emphasizes grip-appropriate shape and manageable weight rather than selecting solely by maximum DPI. The guide lists very light models and 8,000 Hz devices, but it does not establish a Battlefield-specific improvement from either attribute.
DPI is the sensor’s counts-per-inch setting. A high ceiling gives you more configuration range; it does not require you to play at that setting and does not prove greater hit registration. The same applies to resolution-accuracy percentages quoted by a manufacturer. Keep the in-game sensitivity, operating-system pointer settings and any mouse software profile consistent while comparing shapes.
Polling rate describes how often the mouse reports its position to the computer. Higher rates can increase processing and battery demands, and the practical effect depends on the rest of your system, display refresh rate and game settings. Treat 8,000 Hz as a feature choice. There is no cited controlled test showing that it raises Battlefield performance.

Wired USB
A cable removes battery planning and receiver pairing. It can also add drag if it catches on the desk edge. Use a flexible cable guide or a bungee if the cord changes your aim path. Wired operation is especially useful while troubleshooting wireless interference or updating firmware.

2.4 GHz wireless
A dedicated 2.4 GHz receiver is the usual wireless choice for a desktop gaming setup. Place the receiver where the mouse has a clear path, preferably through an included extension rather than behind a metal case. Logitech describes its LIGHTSPEED system as a 1 ms report-rate connection and says it is designed to avoid the latency and connectivity limits of older wireless designs; that is Logitech’s product claim, not an independent Battlefield measurement. The PRO Wireless page states: “This innovative, end-to-end LIGHTSPEED wireless technology overcomes the limitations of latency, connectivity and power to provide consistent, lag-free, 1 ms report rate connection—without a wire.”
Bluetooth
Bluetooth is convenient for laptops and a second device, but check the mouse’s supported polling and feature set in that mode. The ROG Keris Wireless is documented with wired USB, 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth LE, so it is the most flexible candidate in this list when one mouse must cover gaming and general use. Do not assume Bluetooth provides the same behavior as the dedicated receiver.
Optional high-rate receivers
The Viper V3 HyperSpeed page says true 8,000 Hz wireless polling follows a separately described upgrade path. Confirm that receiver’s compatibility, price and availability in your region before treating the mouse as an 8,000 Hz purchase. A missing dongle can leave you with the standard wireless mode you intended to avoid.

Battlefield lets you decide which actions deserve a reachable button. A Battlefield 6 community discussion includes examples such as grenade, scope, fire mode or rangefinder, flashlight or laser, and map actions. Those suggestions are individual player anecdotes, not an official control layout or a representative survey. A practical binding method
- Open Battlefield’s settings and locate the mouse and key-binding section for your current game mode and input device.
- Write down the actions you use most often under pressure. Start with one or two actions rather than filling every side button.
- Assign a side button, then enter a private or low-pressure match to verify that the intended action triggers and that nearby buttons do not activate it accidentally.
- Keep a familiar action on the primary click or keyboard until the new layout becomes automatic. If a button is hard to reach without changing your grip, move the binding instead of stretching your hand.
- Save a software profile only after the in-game binding works. If you play multiple Battlefield titles, check each title’s profile separately; a saved mouse profile does not guarantee identical game bindings.
More buttons are not automatically better. Five well-placed controls can be more useful than a crowded grid, especially if your grip causes repeated misclicks. Logitech G PRO Wireless
Choose this when ambidextrous use or removable side buttons matters more than chasing the newest sensor ceiling.
