For a large, heavily modded combined-arms battle, start with Pragmatic, Serhiivka Conflict. Choose WORST CASE PARADISE or VIK Europe Escalation for stricter team play, Old Young Bastards (OYB) for vanilla Conflict, and Regiment 9 or CelaV for PvE. These are a practical 2026 shortlist, not an official Bohemia Interactive recommendation: the ranking available for this guide is based on community votes and activity, and server populations, rules and mod packs can change quickly.
What “best” means for an Arma Reforger server
There is no official Bohemia Interactive directory of recommended community servers. The current shortlist comes from a third-party 2026 ranking whose order reflects community votes and reported activity. Its ranking page was stamped October 13, 2026, but that date does not independently verify a server’s live population, uptime or current mod list. Treat the names below as starting points and check the in-game browser, server rules and community channels before committing to a long session.

Server choice matters more in Reforger than a simple slot count suggests. A server can be a good fit or a terrible one depending on whether you want competitive player-versus-player combat, cooperative fighting against AI, a realism-oriented ruleset, a completely unmodded experience, or a console-compatible mod pack. The sections below separate those decisions so you can pick a server that matches the way you actually play.

Which server should you try first?
For the biggest modded combined-arms battles
Pragmatic, Serhiivka Conflict is the clearest first choice if you want scale and equipment variety. The listing describes a 128-slot Serhiivka Conflict server with a custom commander system, artillery, attack helicopters, tanks and RHS/WCS loadouts. It is also listed as full crossplay, making it the most straightforward option in this shortlist for a mixed PC-and-console group. Expect a heavier download and a more complicated battlefield than vanilla Conflict; the value is the breadth of roles and vehicles, not a minimal setup.
For survival-style player combat
OUTBREAK is a 40-slot Everon PvP-survival server with traders and community modifications. Its smaller capacity should produce more concentrated encounters than a 100-plus-slot combined-arms server, while the trader system gives the scenario a survival-game loop rather than a pure frontline match. Confirm the language used by the administrators and read the trading, raiding and restart rules before joining.
For realism and coordinated teams
WORST CASE PARADISE is presented as a German/EU realism community running Conflict (AAS) on Everon. The distinctive rule is its camera policy: first-person view on foot is limited, while third-person is permitted inside vehicles. That changes how infantry clears buildings and how vehicle crews observe terrain, so read the server’s exact interpretation before you assume standard Reforger view settings. Its advertised emphasis is team-oriented play rather than casual drop-in shooting.
VIK Europe Escalation Immersive Hardcore offers another demanding option. The listing describes a 100-slot, crossplay hardcore PvP server built around territorial control. Choose it when you want a larger population and stricter pressure over objectives. “Hardcore” is a community label, not a universal rules standard, so verify respawn, view, stamina and communication rules in the server’s own documentation.

For unmodded Conflict
Old Young Bastards (OYB) is the shortlist’s vanilla choice. It is described as an unmodded, crossplay Conflict server with active administrators, logistics and base building on Everon. Vanilla removes the mod synchronization barrier and keeps the equipment set familiar, while logistics and construction still support long, large-scale operations. The ranking summary does not state a slot count; use the live browser entry rather than assuming a capacity.
For cooperative PvE
Regiment 9 – Takistan PvE is the most beginner-oriented PvE listing. It is described as a modded, milsim-style, crossplay server in which players fight two AI factions: the Takistani Army and Takistan Guerrillas. That combination gives new players room to learn movement, radio etiquette and combined-arms roles without competing against equally experienced human opponents.
CelaV (GER/AUT), Conflict – Serhiivka PvE is a smaller 32-slot alternative. Its stated scenario is Russia versus NATO, with a PvE focus. A lower cap can make it easier to keep a squad together and communicate, although the available summary does not establish its current queue, schedule or administrator coverage.
How to choose by playstyle, platform and rules
PvP versus PvE
- Choose PvP if you want opponents who adapt, feints around objectives and punish exposed logistics. OUTBREAK, WORST CASE PARADISE and VIK are the clearest fits; Pragmatic adds the largest advertised vehicle and artillery toolbox.
- Choose PvE if you are learning the game, introducing friends to Reforger or prefer predictable mission goals. Regiment 9 and CelaV are the listed options, but AI behavior and mission pacing depend on the server’s current configuration.
Modded versus vanilla
Mods can add factions, weapons, vehicles, commanders and scenarios, but they also add download time, version mismatches and platform restrictions. Pragmatic, OUTBREAK, WORST CASE PARADISE, Regiment 9 and CelaV are listed as modded. OYB is the unmodded route if you want to join without waiting for a large Workshop pack.

Crossplay and console compatibility
PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 players can share a server when the server and every required mod support those platforms. A hosting-company guide reported that PS5 mod access arrived around Update 1.4 in May 2025; that is secondhand information rather than an official platform note. Do not infer console support from a server name alone.
Individual Workshop authors can restrict a mod to PC or to PC/Xbox. Before inviting a console player, open each required mod’s Workshop page and check its platform tags. A server may advertise crossplay while one optional or recently added dependency blocks a particular console.
Rules, language and administration
Server names often include region or language markers such as EU, UK, GER, ENG or AUT. They are useful clues for latency and communication, not guarantees. Check the community’s rule page or Discord for age limits, required voice channels, platoon or squad procedures, view restrictions, prohibited tactics and restart schedules. A Steam discussion specifically raised questions about age requirements and Discord access; those conditions are set by each community and can change.
How to join a community server
- Open Reforger’s multiplayer server browser. Switch to the community-server view rather than relying only on official scenarios.
- Search the exact server name. Use distinctive text such as “Pragmatic,” “OUTBREAK,” “WORST CASE PARADISE,” “VIK,” “OYB,” “Regiment 9” or “CelaV.” Region tags help distinguish similarly named entries.
- Read the live entry. Check current player count, ping, capacity, password status, platform indication and the displayed mod list. These live values take precedence over any ranking summary.
- Open each mod’s Workshop page. Confirm that your platform is supported and note the total download size. The Reforger Workshop is separate from Steam’s Workshop.
- Join and allow synchronization. Reforger installs and updates required Workshop mods automatically when you join a server that uses them. Keep the game open until the download and dependency process finishes.
- Restart if the browser requests it. A newly updated mod or game build may need a client restart before the server appears joinable.
- Read the community rules before spawning. Identify the correct voice channel, squad convention, restricted areas and any first-person or vehicle-view rule. Ask an administrator when the in-game description and Discord instructions conflict.
Mod and connection problems: a practical checklist
The server does not appear
- Clear restrictive filters for region, empty/full status, game mode and passworded servers.
- Search the complete name, including its bracketed region tag.
- Check whether the server is temporarily offline or has changed its name after a restart.
- Ask in the community’s current channel; the third-party ranking is not a live status monitor.
A mod will not download or update
- Confirm you have free storage and a stable connection.
- Exit and relaunch Reforger so the Workshop dependency queue can rebuild.
- Open the mod page and verify that your platform is allowed. A PC-only or PC/Xbox restriction cannot be fixed through an in-game setting on PlayStation.
- If a server updated its pack, remove an obviously stuck local download only when the game provides that management option, then rejoin to trigger a clean synchronization.
You can join but are kicked immediately
- Compare your installed mod versions with the server’s displayed list.
- Read the rules for whitelist, age, Discord, language or reserved-slot requirements.
- Check whether the server is enforcing a view mode, realism rule or anti-griefing policy that you have not accepted.
Performance is poor
Large slot counts, artillery, aircraft, AI and extensive mod packs can all increase loading and simulation demands. Test a lower-population session or a vanilla server to separate a local hardware problem from server-side performance. There is no published, authoritative player-count statistic that can predict performance for this shortlist.

Older community names: useful leads, not current recommendations
Steam discussions from 2024 and 2025 mention Dark GRU as a well-regarded modded-server community, plus 82nd and FOR. One 2025 commenter described 82nd and FOR as having no AI. Other players expressed mixed opinions about WCS servers, including a report of crashes. Halo milsim groups named Operation Daybreak and Battlegroup Athens were described as mostly PvE with modded AI.

Running your own Reforger server
If none of the public communities matches your schedule, Bohemia provides a free dedicated-server build for Windows and Linux. The hosting reference identifies Steam App 1874900. Self-hosting is a technical project rather than a shortcut: you need a machine that can remain online, router access for port forwarding, a server configuration, and a reliable way to synchronize Workshop mods.
Network and mod requirements
One hosting page lists UDP 2001 and UDP 17777 as ports to forward. Because that port guidance is single-sourced and no official port document was available for this article, verify the current requirements against Bohemia’s documentation and the dedicated-server build before opening your firewall. Forwarding the wrong ports can expose services without making the game reachable.

Cross-platform play adds another constraint: every mod in the server’s dependency chain must support the consoles you intend to admit. Test a clean client on each target platform after every mod update. A pack that works for PC users can still block Xbox or PlayStation players when an author changes platform permissions.

Managed game-server providers can handle machine uptime, backups and some mod synchronization, but pricing, support quality and affiliate arrangements vary. Compare the provider’s current Reforger documentation, hardware allocation, backup policy, file access and cancellation terms rather than choosing on a generic “game server” plan.
Keeping this shortlist current
Community servers are moving targets. Recheck the live browser immediately before a planned event, because slot counts, names, mod collections, passwords and administrators can change between ranking updates. Give priority to a server with recent activity, a readable rules page and responsive admins over a high position on a vote-based list.
- Before downloading: confirm game mode, region, language, platform tags and required mods.
- Before your first spawn: read age, Discord, voice, camera and conduct rules.
- After an update: expect mod synchronization and possible restarts; do not assume yesterday’s pack is still valid.
- For a group event: have a vanilla fallback such as OYB and a PvE fallback such as Regiment 9 or CelaV if the primary modded server is full or unavailable.
