Start with CBA_A3, then build around one primary direction: choose RHS for a broad vehicles-and-weapons package or Antistasi for a persistent cooperative campaign. Add ACE3 when your group wants medical simulation, advanced ballistics and detailed equipment handling. CBA_A3 should be installed first because the 2026 fly-serv guide identifies it as essential and reports that RHS and ACE3 will not launch without it. CBA_A3: the dependency to install first

Why the install order matters
Installing dependent mods before their shared base can produce a failed launch or a server that starts without the intended content. Put CBA_A3 in the server’s mod set first, then add the chosen content and gameplay layers. Apply the same order to the client profile used for testing.
What CBA_A3 does not decide
CBA_A3 does not choose a scenario, faction set or realism level for your community. You still need to select RHS, Antistasi or another supported direction, and you must read each dependent mod’s current Workshop requirements. A working CBA_A3 installation is a foundation, not proof that every other mod is compatible.

RHS is described as a comprehensive collection of vehicles, weapons and uniforms and as a standard choice for realism-oriented play. Choose it when your server needs a large equipment and faction-style expansion rather than a single campaign framework.
When RHS is the right primary mod
- Your group wants more military equipment and vehicles in its scenarios.
- You prefer to build missions around a broad content pack instead of one persistent game mode.
- You are prepared to test server performance with the intended number of players and AI.
RHS with ACE3
RHS supplies the content while ACE3 changes how players interact with medical treatment, ballistics and equipment. That combination can suit a dedicated milsim community, but it also increases the amount of systems players must learn and the resources the server must provide. Treat it as a deliberate design choice, not an automatic upgrade.
RHS limitations to verify
The available evidence does not establish a current Workshop version, exact faction list, supported Arma 3 build or guaranteed compatibility with other 2026 mods. Check the current RHS Workshop pages and their stated dependencies immediately before deployment.

ACE3: deeper simulation for organised groups
ACE3 adds medical simulation, advanced ballistics and in-depth equipment management. Those systems are most useful when the community wants procedures and decisions to matter more than default Arma 3 interactions.
Choose ACE3 when your players want rules, not just content
ACE3 is a strong fit for milsim communities that brief roles, practise casualty care and accept a more involved equipment workflow. It can make a session more deliberate, but it may frustrate casual players who expect default interactions and immediate access to familiar actions.
Plan the training burden
Before opening a public session, explain which ACE3 systems the group will use and run a small test event. A server can be technically healthy while the player experience fails because nobody understands the medical or equipment procedures. Keep the first scenario narrow, then add complexity after the group is comfortable.
ACE3 dependency and compatibility checks
ACE3 is reported to require CBA_A3. Its current version, exact optional components and compatibility with every RHS release were not verified in the available 2026 search results, so use the requirements shown on the current Workshop listing rather than an old setup guide.
Antistasi: a persistent cooperative campaign
Antistasi is more than an equipment mod: it is a persistent cooperative guerrilla game mode. Progress can keep a community occupied for months, making it a better primary choice than RHS for groups whose main goal is an ongoing campaign rather than a catalogue of military assets.

Why persistence changes server planning
A persistent mode creates continuity between sessions. Decide who can administer the campaign, how backups will be handled and how the group will recover if a mod update interrupts a saved game. Those operational decisions matter more for Antistasi than for a one-off mission.
Antistasi versus RHS
Choose Antistasi when the campaign structure is the reason people return. Choose RHS when the equipment, vehicles and uniforms are the main attraction. They solve different problems, so selecting one as the primary direction keeps the initial server easier to explain and troubleshoot.
Adding ACE3 to Antistasi
ACE3 can be added when the community wants its simulation systems inside the persistent campaign. Test the complete stack first: a mode that is stable by itself may behave differently when medical, ballistics and equipment systems are introduced.

A practical test sequence
- Launch a private instance with CBA_A3 and your selected primary mod.
- Measure startup and mission-load behaviour before adding optional systems.
- Add ACE3 only if the group wants its realism features, then repeat the test.
- Invite a few players and use the same scenario you expect to host publicly.
- Watch for rising load times, delayed interactions or server lag as player and AI counts increase.
Do not infer public capacity from a solo launch. A configuration that feels fine with one administrator can degrade when several players and large AI groups are active.
AI Culler and other performance candidates
A Steam Workshop collection titled “ArmA 3 2026 Mod List” includes AI Culler, Advanced Weapon Mounting and Advanced Vault System: Remastered. AI Culler is described as a two-part performance mod that addresses server-side simulation overhead and client-side rendering cost when many AI units are present.
The collection metadata showed it was last updated about 476 days before the search snapshot. That age does not prove the listed mods are broken, but it does mean you should verify each item’s current compatibility instead of importing the collection unchanged. The available material does not establish equivalent functions or current maintenance status for Advanced Weapon Mounting or Advanced Vault System: Remastered; treat their presence in the collection as a lead for testing, not a guarantee.
Client and server installation procedure
Arma 3 mod deployment is a two-sided operation. A Steam Workshop listing cited in the available material states that the mod must be installed on both client and server. Read the requirement on every Workshop page; do not assume that a mod is server-only because it affects performance or runs in a mission.
- Make a clean test profile. Keep your production mod list separate so an experiment cannot silently change the public server.
- Open Steam Workshop for Arma 3. Search for the exact mod name and subscribe to CBA_A3 first.
- Install the same item on the server. Use the hosting provider’s documented Workshop or SteamCMD process, and confirm that the server reports the item as installed.
- Add one primary direction. Choose RHS or Antistasi and keep the initial list small enough to diagnose.
- Add ACE3 only when needed. If the community wants its systems, install it on both sides after the baseline works.
- Read each item’s requirements and notes. Confirm whether additional dependencies, client installation or a particular load order is stated.
- Launch with matching lists. The client and server should use the same required mods and compatible versions; mismatches commonly prevent a join or remove intended content.
- Run a private multiplayer test. Test loading, joining, interactions and an ordinary mission with a few players before publishing the server address.
Compatibility and update checks for 2026
The available search evidence is snippet-level. Workshop dates, mod versions and compatibility were not verified directly, so any article or collection that supplies an old date should be treated as a starting point rather than a current guarantee.

Check these fields on every Workshop page
- Required dependencies, especially whether CBA_A3 is listed.
- Whether the item must be installed on both client and server.
- The latest update date and the version or change notes shown by the author.
- Known conflicts with the other major mods in your planned stack.
- Whether the item is a mission, a framework, a content pack or a performance tool.
Change one variable at a time
If a server fails after an update, remove the newest addition or revert the last change in the test profile. Re-test CBA_A3 plus the primary mod, then reintroduce optional layers individually. This isolates a dependency or compatibility problem faster than replacing the entire list.
Older mod lists that need extra caution
A Shockbyte multiplayer-mod article lists Star Wars Opposition, Mass Effect Opposition, XMedSys and Fall of the Titans. Search metadata dated that article at about 1,259 days old. Because Arma 3 Workshop maintenance and game compatibility can change substantially over that period, those names should not be treated as current 2026 recommendations without checking their present Workshop pages, update history and requirements.
The same caution applies to any “best mods” list that does not show a recent update date. A familiar name is not evidence that a server-side package still works with your current client and host.
A low-risk rollout plan
- Baseline: install and test CBA_A3 alone.
- Choose a direction: add RHS for content or Antistasi for persistent cooperative play.
- Stabilise: run a few-player session and record load times, joins and obvious lag.
- Deepen the simulation: add ACE3 only if the group wants its medical, ballistics and equipment systems.
- Optimise selectively: evaluate AI Culler or another performance candidate only after confirming its current compatibility.
- Document the working list: record the exact Workshop items, update dates and client/server requirements used by the successful test.
- Promote cautiously: open the server to the wider community only after the complete stack survives a realistic multiplayer session.
This sequence keeps the essential dependency, the main gameplay choice and optional performance experiments separate. When something breaks, you have a known-good point to return to.
