For a new ARK: Survival Ascended server, choose a plan that supports the map you want before comparing its price. Nitrado’s current offer lists 20 slots for $24.99 per 30 days, but new services purchased after June 22, 2026 need at least 26 slots to run Astraeos or Lost Colony. Its 26-slot tier is listed at $32.29 per 30 days and supports all maps. Compare providers’ advertised features and verify plan details before ordering; those listings are not a hands-on performance test.

Best ARK: Survival Ascended server hosts in 2026

There is no verified head-to-head benchmark here for latency, uptime, support response or performance under a particular map, player count or mod load. The recommendations below therefore compare the published features and terms that are available, not measured server quality. Check the current host page and checkout details before buying because plans, prices, maps and game support can change.

This is a focused comparison, not a complete census of every company that may offer game servers. Search results surfaced other general game-server providers, but the information available for this review did not verify a comparable current ASA plan with price, crossplay, map support and terms. That is why the comparison below is limited; it is not proof that no other host can provide an ASA server. If you are comparing another company, look for those same specifics on its current offer page before treating its plan as equivalent.

1. Nitrado: clearest published ASA plan and map terms

Nitrado’s offer page specifies ASA player tiers, a map restriction tied to the purchase date, PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5 crossplay, and integrated CurseForge management. Its terms are the most concrete ASA-specific plan details available for this comparison. That makes it easier to check whether a listed tier fits a group’s map and slot needs; it does not prove that Nitrado will deliver the lowest latency or best reliability for every player.

Host Published information relevant to ASA What to verify before purchase
Nitrado Lists PC, Xbox and PS5 crossplay, CurseForge integration, plan prices, slot tiers, map eligibility and available locations. Current checkout price, selected map’s slot requirement, intended crossplay combination, region availability and whether any desired community mods work with the current game version.

Studio Wildcard’s Community Crunch 375 announcement in 2023 called Nitrado “the exclusive commercial server host for ARK: Survival Ascended.” That is a historical statement from Studio Wildcard, not independent evidence of current contract scope or a comparison of today’s providers. The announcement is useful context for the commercial relationship at that time, but it should not be treated as a current guarantee about contract terms, every region, or server performance. Search results that mention other general game-server companies are not enough to establish comparable current ASA prices, maps, crossplay and terms, so they are not ranked here.

How to choose a plan that fits your group

Start with the game your group intends to play, not the lowest price displayed. For ASA, map eligibility can change the minimum slot tier, and crossplay, mods and geography can each affect whether a server is usable by everyone who plans to join. A sensible order is to identify the must-haves first—map, platforms and capacity—then compare available term and location options. That prevents a low headline price from distracting you from a plan that cannot host the world or players you have in mind.

Check map eligibility against the purchase date

Under Nitrado’s published terms, a new service purchased after June 22, 2026 needs at least 26 slots for Astraeos or Lost Colony. The 1–20-player plan excludes those maps for purchases after that cutoff. The 26-slot tier is listed as supporting all maps. Nitrado also notes that future maps may receive separate slot requirements, so do not assume that a tier supporting today’s maps will automatically support every later release.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For a service bought before the cutoff, do not infer the applicable terms from the new-purchase restriction. Check the terms attached to that service and confirm eligibility with the provider. If the map is the deciding factor, get confirmation for the exact plan and purchase date before paying. The key distinction is that the stated cutoff applies to new services purchased after June 22, 2026; the applicable terms for every older service or renewal are not specified here.

It is also worth checking the map requirement again if you change plans or start a new service later. A plan that worked for a previous world, or a map that was supported when you last checked, does not automatically settle eligibility for a new purchase. The provider specifically warns that future maps may have separate slot requirements.

Match slots to the group, not just the first login

A player-slot tier is a capacity limit, not a prediction of how many people will be online at once. Estimate the largest number of simultaneous players you reasonably expect, including friends who may join later, and compare that figure with the plan’s stated capacity. A 20-slot option may appear adequate for a small group but is not an eligible choice for the two maps excluded from that tier under the stated post-cutoff terms. Avoid buying an undersized tier based on an assumption that you can change its map support later.

Think through the group’s likely peak rather than choosing only for the number of people who have confirmed today. The listed tiers describe player capacity, but no formula is provided for predicting how much capacity a particular community needs. Use your expected group size as a planning estimate, then confirm the exact player limit and map eligibility shown for the selected configuration. If the group expects to grow, also check whether the provider allows a configuration change and what the changed plan would cost; those specific upgrade terms are not established by the figures here.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Confirm the exact crossplay combination

Nitrado lists crossplay among PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5. The listing does not by itself tell you that every possible combination will work under every configuration. Confirm that the platforms your group uses can join the same server, and check the settings required to enable that combination before purchase. If even one player is on a different platform, make platform compatibility a decision gate rather than a detail to troubleshoot after the server is live.

For a mixed-platform group, write down every platform represented and confirm the combination with the provider before selecting a term. Then test access from each platform after configuration, rather than assuming that a successful connection from one player proves that everyone can join. This is especially relevant if the group also plans to use mods: the provider lists crossplay mods, but you should still verify that the specific mod set and platform mix meet your needs.

Check mod support and update timing

Nitrado lists integrated CurseForge mod management, including crossplay mods. This can make it simpler to manage mods from the hosting interface, but it does not mean every community mod will be compatible with every platform or game update. Nitrado cautions that community mods may take time to become compatible after ASA updates. Before committing a group to a modded world, verify that each required mod works with the current game version and the group’s platform mix. Keep a list of the mods and their versions so the administrator can identify what changed if an update interrupts access.

For a group that considers certain mods essential, treat compatibility as part of the purchase decision instead of an afterthought. Check the current status of each required mod, and agree on what the group will do if an update temporarily leaves one unavailable. Published information supports the possibility of a compatibility delay, but does not give a standard wait time or guarantee that every mod will be updated. Avoid promising players that a mod will work immediately after a game patch.

Choose the region around the players

Nitrado lists locations in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. Its page also displays named locations including Frankfurt, London, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Singapore, São Paulo, Tokyo and Sydney. Select a location that best serves the group as a whole, not simply the one nearest the server administrator. Displayed latency figures on a provider page are illustrative, not a guarantee for every player or network path. If the provider offers a way to test or change regions, use it to check the actual group’s experience rather than treating a sample number as a promise.

For players spread across regions, there may be no single location that is nearest to everyone. Ask members where they usually connect from, compare the listed regional choices, and decide which location offers the fairest compromise for the group. The published list identifies available locations, but it does not establish measured latency from each city to every player. Actual results depend on the player and network path, so check the group’s experience where possible.

Nitrado’s listed plans and locations

The following prices are observations of Nitrado’s current public offer page, accessed October 13, 2026. They are provider-listed prices, not a guarantee of the final amount at checkout, and may change. Use them as a dated reference point, then confirm the amount and configuration on the live offer page before committing.

Listed option Term Map support Price shown
1–20 players 30 days Astraeos and Lost Colony excluded for services purchased after June 22, 2026 $24.99
1–26 players 30 days All maps $32.29
All-maps tier 90 days All maps, as listed on the offer page $87.19

The page also displays custom configurations from 20 to 200 slots and runtime choices from 3 to 365 days. These are displayed configuration ranges, not a promise that every combination has the same price or map eligibility. Confirm the exact configuration, term and total at checkout. The published range is useful if a group needs something beyond the two example tiers, but the available information does not give a price for every slot-and-runtime combination.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

For comparison, the 30-day difference between the displayed 20-slot and 26-slot options is $7.30. That arithmetic is based only on the two cited offer-page prices; it does not establish which plan is better value for a particular group. If you need Astraeos or Lost Colony and are making a new purchase after June 22, the lower displayed tier is not a valid substitute for the 26-slot all-maps tier under Nitrado’s published terms.

The listed 90-day all-maps price is $87.19. At the listed 30-day price, three separate 26-slot periods would total $96.87 before any other checkout details, making the displayed 90-day figure $9.68 lower by simple arithmetic. That comparison is only between the prices observed on the page, not a guarantee that separate monthly purchases or the longer term will remain available at those prices. Review the term that matches how long the group expects to keep the server, and do not choose a longer commitment solely from this arithmetic if your plans may change.

Locations shown on the page include Frankfurt, London, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Singapore, São Paulo, Tokyo and Sydney, alongside broader regional availability in Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia. The location list can help narrow the choice, but it is not a ranking of those locations and does not tell you which one will perform best for your group. Choose based on where your players are, then verify the server’s selected region before completing the order.

What to evaluate beyond the advertised plan

A host’s feature list can narrow the options, but actual play quality depends on the players’ network paths and the server’s workload. Map, player count, mods, region and update state all matter. No independent ASA-host study statistic or hands-on provider benchmark is established here, so use a practical trial or a provider’s available cancellation terms rather than treating hardware names or a marketing latency display as a performance result.

  • Latency: Ask players in the group to test from their usual locations, if a trial or short-term plan makes that possible. A single person’s result cannot stand in for players in other regions.
  • Stability under your workload: Evaluate the server with the map, population and mods you actually intend to use. Results from a lightly populated vanilla session would not prove how a larger modded session behaves.
  • Backups and recovery: Check how backups are created and restored, how many are retained, and whether restoring one requires provider assistance. A feature called “automatic backups” alone does not answer these operational questions.
  • Administrative access: Confirm how you can change server settings, manage mods, restart the server and invite or remove administrators. Make sure the people who will maintain the world can access the controls they need.
  • Support process: Check which support channels are available for the plan and what information the provider requests when diagnosing a problem. Keep the server name, region, affected platform, error message and approximate incident time ready.

These are questions to ask, not features verified for every plan in this comparison. The offer details establish the listed ASA features and prices, but they do not report backup retention, recovery procedures, support response times or a performance benchmark. If one of those operational details is a deal-breaker, confirm it in the provider’s current plan documentation before ordering.

Self-hosting instead of renting

Self-hosting can make sense when someone in the group wants to maintain the machine and network, but it is not automatically cheaper or simpler. The ARK Community Wiki’s setup guidance recommends four logical cores per ASA server instance and favors strong single-thread performance. This is a general recommendation, not a tested minimum-spec guarantee. It does not establish the total hardware, memory, storage or network capacity a particular map and player count will need.

The four-logical-core recommendation is a starting point from general setup guidance, not a complete specification for a particular server. Do not use it alone to conclude that a machine will handle a chosen map, number of players or mod load. The cited guidance favors strong single-thread performance as well, so core count alone does not capture the processor consideration described there. Consult the current setup guidance for the server software and assess the intended workload rather than treating one number as a guaranteed minimum.

Before choosing self-hosting, account for the machine’s availability, internet connection, operating-system maintenance, configuration work, security and backup plan. The server needs to remain reachable when players want to join. A household connection, router setup or host computer that is routinely offline may be a worse fit than renting even if the hardware is already available. If you proceed, use the Wiki’s current setup guidance for the applicable server software rather than treating the four-core recommendation as a complete recipe.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is no cost comparison here that establishes self-hosting as cheaper for a particular reader. A fair comparison would need to account for the reader’s available hardware, connection and time maintaining it, as well as the hosted plan and term they would otherwise buy. If the group already has suitable equipment and someone willing to manage it, self-hosting may be worth evaluating; if not, compare the practical work and availability requirements alongside the listed rental price.

The fastest way: a hosted server

For a group that does not want to maintain its own machine, a hosted server removes the need to keep a home computer online and manage its network exposure. Compare current provider features, but confirm ASA-specific details, the price and the selected region before ordering. Check the provider’s current ARK: Survival Ascended hosting options and plans.

If you want to compare another option, Godlike.Host offers ARK servers with a Pterodactyl-based game panel, a built-in mod installer and updater, up to three free backups a day with restore, and 10 data-center locations. See the current plans and confirm the ASA-specific details for your map, platforms and mods before ordering.

  1. Write down the requirements first. Note the map, expected maximum players, platforms, required mods and the regions where players will connect.
  2. Check map and platform eligibility. Confirm that the selected ASA plan supports the map and the exact crossplay combination your group needs.
  3. Choose capacity and location. Select a slot tier that accommodates the group and a region suited to its players. Do not assume a location’s displayed sample latency will match your group’s results.
  4. Confirm price and administration details. Check the current term, total price, included controls, backup behavior and support channels before completing checkout.
  5. Configure and test before inviting everyone. Set the intended map, platform access and mods, then have players from each platform join. Confirm the world is available and that the required mods load before treating it as the group’s permanent server.

It helps to keep a short record of what you chose: plan tier, term, map, region, platform settings and required mods. That makes it easier to check the configuration against the original requirements if something does not work as expected. It also helps the group distinguish a plan limitation from a setting or mod issue, without assuming that every problem reflects provider performance.

Common buying mistakes and how to avoid them

Buying 20 slots for a restricted map

For a new Nitrado service purchased after June 22, 2026, the listed 20-slot tier excludes Astraeos and Lost Colony. Select a 26-slot tier for those maps under the published terms, or obtain explicit confirmation for another eligible plan. Do not infer eligibility from an old service or from a general all-maps label without checking the purchase’s terms.

Assuming “crossplay” means every platform combination

A crossplay label is a starting point, not a substitute for checking the exact platforms and settings. Confirm the planned combination before purchase, then test a connection from each platform before the group invests in a long-running world.

Expecting every mod to work immediately after an update

Game updates can leave community mods temporarily incompatible. If a server stops accepting players or a mod fails after an update, identify the affected mod and version, check for a compatible release, and avoid changing several mods at once. That makes it easier to determine whether the issue is a mod compatibility delay or another configuration problem.

Choosing a server location from a sample latency figure

Illustrative latency numbers are not individualized guarantees. Consider where all players live, and assess the group’s actual experience if the host permits a test or region change. A region that is ideal for one player may be a poor compromise for the rest.

Reading the current listed price as a lasting quote

Nitrado’s displayed $24.99, $32.29 and $87.19 prices are page observations accessed October 13, 2026. Recheck the offer and final checkout total before paying. Likewise, a provider’s displayed range of slots or terms does not mean every configuration carries the same price or map eligibility.

Treating a broad provider search as a verified comparison

A company appearing in search results or offering game servers generally is not enough to confirm its ASA-specific map support, current price, crossplay and purchase terms. Look for those details on a current offer page before comparing it directly with Nitrado’s listed plan. This review does not establish that Nitrado is the only possible host; it identifies the ASA-specific listing for which comparable details were verified in August 2026.

Final recommendation

Choose by map eligibility first, then verify platform compatibility, slot capacity, region and mod support. Nitrado has the most specific published ASA plan and map terms in this comparison. This placement is not a claim about independently measured performance. For a new Nitrado purchase after June 22, 2026, the key decision is straightforward: the listed 20-slot option excludes Astraeos and Lost Colony, while the 26-slot tier supports all maps. Check current ASA-specific plan details with the provider before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Nitrado plan supports Astraeos or Lost Colony for a new purchase?

Nitrado’s published terms say new services purchased after June 22, 2026 need at least 26 slots for Astraeos or Lost Colony. Its 1–20-player tier excludes those maps for purchases after that cutoff; confirm the exact terms for your purchase before ordering.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

How much do the listed 20-slot and 26-slot plans cost?

The offer page observed October 13, 2026 lists $24.99 for 30 days at 1–20 players and $32.29 for 30 days at 1–26 players. Prices can change, so verify the current page and checkout total.

Does Nitrado support ARK: Survival Ascended crossplay and mods?

Nitrado lists crossplay among PC, Xbox and PlayStation 5, plus integrated CurseForge management including crossplay mods. Confirm your exact platform combination and required mods, since not every configuration or community mod is guaranteed compatible.

Which server region should I choose?

Choose a listed location that best serves the players as a group. Nitrado shows locations across Europe, North America, South America, Asia and Australia, including Frankfurt, London, New York City, Miami, Los Angeles, Singapore, São Paulo, Tokyo and Sydney. Its displayed latency figures are illustrative, not a guarantee for every player.

Is self-hosting cheaper than renting an ASA server?

No cost comparison establishes that self-hosting is cheaper for a particular reader. The ARK Community Wiki recommends four logical cores per server instance and favors strong single-thread performance, but that is general guidance rather than a complete hardware guarantee. Compare your available equipment and maintenance needs with the current hosted price and term.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Pick the map and platform mix first, then compare the slot tier, region and current price. For a new Nitrado purchase after June 22, 2026, Astraeos and Lost Colony require at least 26 slots under the published terms. The $24.99 20-slot and $32.29 26-slot prices are dated offer-page observations, not performance rankings or guaranteed checkout quotes.
