For most servers, Pelayori’s Cryo Storage is the best starting point in 2026. It preserves the familiar Cryofridge workflow while adding faster capture, a recharge terminal and quality-of-life features. Choose Super Cryo Storage (SCS) if you want a connected replacement for vanilla cryopods and Cryofridges, or Dino Depot if you prefer a modern, deeply configurable storage system. Install only one primary cryo-storage overhaul unless the authors of the specific mods confirm compatibility, and recheck each mod’s current changelog before updating your server.
Which ARK: Survival Ascended cryopod mod should you choose?
The three established choices serve different play styles rather than forming a simple “best to worst” ranking:

You are still working around a Cryofridge-based workflow rather than replacing the entire storage model.

That makes it the natural first choice for a mostly vanilla cooperative server, a solo save where you do not want to relearn every storage mechanic, or a cluster whose players already understand standard cryopods. The CurseForge listing reports cross-platform support and approximately 14.4 million downloads; the listing does not establish the year represented by that download total.
Dependencies and installation weight
Pelayori’s listing reports no dependencies. Fewer dependencies generally mean fewer packages to keep synchronized on a server and fewer opportunities for a dependency update to block a launch, although that does not guarantee compatibility with other cryopod mods.

The vanilla-pod limitation
The changelog states that vanilla pods are not supported, and likely will not be supported, when a PCS Cryofridge is present nearby. This is more than a minor inconvenience: placing a PCS Cryofridge can change which pod system a player must use in that area. Plan your base layout and tell players which pods belong to the PCS workflow before moving creatures or storage between rooms.
Do not interpret “light-touch” as “safe to stack with every other storage mod.” Pelayori’s own pod and fridge behavior can conflict with another mod that also intercepts cryopod storage. Select it as your primary cryopod system unless a current compatibility note says otherwise.

Super Cryo Storage: a complete connected system

Super Cryo Storage replaces the separate vanilla concepts with a connected set of tools. The documented system contains the SCS Gun, SCS Collection cryopods and the SCS Terminal. Level requirement
The recipes unlock at character level 51. That requirement matters on fresh servers: a player can install the mod successfully and still be unable to craft its equipment until the character reaches the required level. If your server starts with boosted rates or a level cap below 51, check the mod’s current configuration and progression behavior before committing to it.

- Choose SCS when a server-wide overhaul is acceptable and you want one connected cryo-storage approach.
- Choose it for established tribes that are willing to retrain members on new equipment and recipes.
- Avoid introducing it mid-season without a migration plan: replacing the storage method can affect where creatures and pods are kept, who can access them and how new players learn the system.
CurseForge lists SCS as cross-platform and shows game version 1.0. Those fields do not constitute a dated guarantee for every 2026 patch, so verify the current file and changelog immediately before deployment.
Dino Depot: the modern, configurable alternative
What the available coverage establishes
A 2026 comparison roundup presents Dino Depot as the modern pick, while a separate guide describes its depth as comparable to SCS. Its settings are controlled through .ini files, which makes it attractive to server administrators who want to tune behavior centrally instead of relying only on in-game crafting and interaction settings.

Why INI configuration changes the decision
INI-based control is useful when you run a dedicated server, maintain a cluster or need the same rules on several maps. It also adds administrative responsibility. A typo, an outdated setting name or a change between mod versions can produce unexpected defaults or prevent a setting from taking effect. Keep a copy of the working configuration, change one setting at a time and test on a non-production save before rolling changes to an active cluster.
Who should choose Dino Depot
- Server owners comfortable editing and backing up configuration files.
- Clusters that need repeatable settings across maps or worlds.
- Players who want a full storage overhaul but prefer a newer project rather than a lighter vanilla extension.

How to choose for a new or existing server
For a mostly vanilla server
Start with Pelayori’s if your goal is faster, less tedious handling while preserving familiar Cryofridge behavior. Tell players about the PCS Cryofridge proximity rule before they build storage rooms, and avoid adding a second cryopod framework simply because both mods appear in the mod browser.
For a planned overhaul
Choose SCS when the server’s rules, tutorials and progression can be designed around a new system. Account for the level-51 recipe unlock in your progression plan and document which SCS tools replace ordinary pods and fridges.

For administrator-controlled tuning
Choose Dino Depot when INI control is a deciding requirement. Establish a configuration backup and a test map first; then record the exact settings that players are expected to use.

Inventory every active Cryofridge, pod and stored creature before changing systems. Schedule a maintenance window, back up the world and configuration files, install the replacement on a test copy, and verify that creatures can be captured, stored and deployed before removing the old system. The available documentation does not provide a universal migration utility, so do not assume one exists.
Installation and validation checklist
- Record the environment. Write down the ARK: Survival Ascended build, map or cluster, platform mix, server type and current mod list.
- Read the live mod page. Confirm the current file, changelog, dependencies, supported platforms and any notes for the game patch you are running. The “1.0” fields shown in the retrieved listings are not dated 2026 patch guarantees.
- Back up before changing storage. Preserve the world save, server configuration and existing mod order. Keep the backup outside the live server directory.
- Install one primary cryo-storage system. Add Pelayori’s, SCS or Dino Depot first. Do not add several overlapping systems while troubleshooting.
- Test on a copy. Capture a low-value creature, store it, recharge or access it as the mod requires, and deploy it again. Repeat with an existing creature if you are migrating.
- Test multiplayer permissions. Have a second account or tribe member perform the same actions. Check that terminals, guns and storage can be used by the intended roles.
- Check persistence. Restart the server and confirm that stored creatures, charge state and configuration survive the restart.
- Publish player instructions. State which pods and terminals are supported, where storage should be built and whether players must reach a level threshold.
Can these cryopod mods run together?
There is no independent test establishing that Pelayori’s, SCS and Dino Depot can safely run together. The only compatibility statement located is an author’s claim that Cybers Structures QoL+ (Crossplay) works with Dino Depot, Super Cryo Storage and Pelayori’s. That is an author claim, not an independent test, and it does not prove that the three cryo-storage systems themselves are mutually compatible.
Overlapping mods can compete for the same pod, fridge, terminal or creature-storage behavior. If you must evaluate a combination, use a disposable test server, install one mod at a time, inspect logs after startup and complete capture, storage, restart and deployment tests before inviting players. Keep the production save untouched until the combination has passed those checks.

Common failure modes and fixes
Vanilla pods stop working near a PCS Cryofridge
This behavior is consistent with Pelayori’s documented limitation. Move the pod away from the PCS area, use the supported PCS workflow, or redesign the room so players do not mix systems accidentally.

Check the character’s level first: the documented unlock point is level 51. If the character is high enough, verify that the correct mod file is installed on both server and clients where required, then review the current changelog for changed engrams or settings.
An INI change has no effect in Dino Depot
Stop the server before editing, confirm the setting name and file location against the current documentation, change one value, restart fully and test in-game. Restore the last known-good configuration if startup or behavior becomes abnormal.
The server fails after adding a second cryo mod
Remove the newest overlapping mod from the test copy, restart and confirm the original system works. Add only one candidate at a time and retain the logs from each start. Do not delete the live save to force a launch; recover from the backup if storage data is at risk.
2026 buying decision in one minute
- Pick Pelayori’s Cryo Storage for the smallest change to normal play, no listed dependencies and a faster, more convenient vanilla-style workflow.
- Pick Super Cryo Storage for a deliberate, connected replacement built around the SCS Gun, collection pods and terminal, provided your progression accommodates the level-51 recipes.
