There is no single best ARC Raiders map for every crafting material. The most clearly documented material-specific run is an Oil loop on Dam Battlegrounds: start at Hydroponic Dome Complex, move through Water Treatment and Power Generation, sweep the industrial garages and catwalks, then route directly to an extraction. Search vehicles and mechanical or industrial containers, and recycle suitable finds instead of carrying low-value bulk.
For other materials, choose the map containing the relevant structure and connect three or four stops toward extraction rather than backtracking. Treat named locations as current leads, not guaranteed spawns: check Embark’s live map conditions before deploying because conditions and loot behavior can change.
Best routes at a glance
The table separates documented route advice from conclusions the available sources do not establish. No reliable, common test measures crafting-material yield per minute across every map, so these are planning routes rather than a universal ranking.
| Goal | Recommended path or area | Why use it | What is not guaranteed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Oil | Dam Battlegrounds: Hydroponic Dome Complex → Water Treatment → Power Generation → industrial garages and catwalks → extraction | A July 2026 route guide specifically targets Oil-producing recyclables and calls out vehicles plus mechanical and industrial containers. | The route is a third-party recommendation, not an official drop table or guaranteed Oil loop. |
| General starter run | Dam Battlegrounds, linking three or four useful waypoints toward an extraction | A route guide presents Dam Battlegrounds as an accessible starting route and advises ending the line at extraction instead of retracing it. | No source establishes that Dam has the highest overall material yield. |
| Loot-density run | The Blue Gate, with three or four connected waypoints that finish at extraction | The same guide favors The Blue Gate when the objective is dense general loot. | “Loot density” is that guide’s judgment; there is no comparable yield-per-minute measurement or universal best route. |
| Rusted Bolts | Spaceport: Container Storage, Vehicle Maintenance and Shipping Warehouse | These mechanical and industrial areas are guide-reported leads for the Trophy Display project. | Exact spawn rates and post-update availability are not verified. |
| Expired Respirators | Dam Battlegrounds: Testing Annex; Stella Montis: Medical Research | Both are reported medical-area locations. | A location lead does not mean every visit produces the item. |
| Leaper Pulse Units | Dam Battlegrounds: Hydroponic Dome Complex, Water Treatment Control elevator and Red Lakes Balcony | These named locations are associated with the item in a project guide. | Current spawn guarantees are not established. |
| Exodus Modules and Magnetic Accelerators | Spaceport: Rocket Assembly; Stella Montis: Assembly | Exodus-related areas are the documented leads for these materials. | Do not infer a fixed quantity or drop chance from the area name. |
How to choose a material route
Start with the item required by your next blueprint, project or upgrade. A generic “best map” run often fills your backpack with items that cannot solve the immediate bottleneck. Use this decision order:
#1 Best Overall
- Identify the exact material. Write down whether you need Oil, a mechanical component, a medical item or an Exodus-related component.
- Pick the map with a documented lead. Use the named areas in the table as search anchors, not promises. If no location is documented for your item, favor a compact route with many relevant container types and a nearby extraction.
- Read the current condition. Open the official map-conditions page before queueing. Embark currently lists Buried City, Dam Battlegrounds, Pendola Pass, Riven Tides, Spaceport, Stella Montis and The Blue Gate, along with scheduled conditions; the schedule is time-sensitive.
- Draw an extraction-directed line. Select three or four stops that move generally toward an extraction. Do not plan a loop that forces you back through already-cleared ground unless the material is unusually valuable and the extra exposure is justified.
- Set a stop rule. Once you have the needed material, leave. Additional containers increase the chance of losing the completed haul and may displace the component you actually came for.
The Dam Battlegrounds Oil route
Oil is the strongest material-specific example currently documented. A July 31, 2026 guide recommends a Dam Battlegrounds route beginning at Hydroponic Dome Complex, continuing through Water Treatment and Power Generation, and ending with a sweep of industrial garages and catwalks. The guide is secondary coverage, so use it as a practical route hypothesis rather than an official guarantee: AllThingsHow’s Oil route guide.
1. Start at Hydroponic Dome Complex
Search the structures and containers that fit the industrial objective rather than opening every container indiscriminately. Hydroponic Dome Complex is also listed as a lead for Leaper Pulse Units, so it can serve a mixed run when both items are useful. Mark the next stop before moving so the route keeps progressing toward an extraction.
2. Sweep Water Treatment
Water Treatment provides another industrial segment without requiring a return to the dome. Include the Water Treatment Control elevator when Leaper Pulse Units are on your target list. Keep a mental split between items to keep and items to recycle; otherwise low-value bulk can consume the slots needed for Oil sources.

Power Generation is the third main section in the recommended Oil path. Prioritize vehicles and mechanical or industrial containers. These container categories are the actionable part of the route advice; do not treat any unverified percentage as an official chance.
4. Finish at garages and catwalks
Use the industrial garages and catwalks as the final sweep, then take the extraction that best matches your direction. The purpose of ending here is to turn the route into a one-way progression instead of a return trip across the same landmarks.
5. Recycle the right finds
The Oil guide specifically names Water Pumps, Coolant, Polluted Air Filters, Motors and Synthesized Fuel as recyclable Oil sources. Recycle only when the resulting material is more useful than the original item for your current objective and when you have a safe opportunity to do so. If you are already carrying the required Oil, stop searching rather than converting every spare item and extending the run.
Routes for specific crafting materials
Rusted Bolts: Spaceport industrial areas
A guide to the Trophy Display project associates Rusted Bolts with mechanical and industrial locations in Spaceport: Container Storage, Vehicle Maintenance and Shipping Warehouse. Build a short line between the closest two or three of these areas and finish at an extraction instead of attempting to clear all three if they pull you across the map. The locations come from a project guide, not a developer-published loot table: PC Gamer’s Trophy Display material guide.

Expired Respirators: medical interiors
For Expired Respirators, the same guide reports Testing Annex on Dam Battlegrounds and Medical Research on Stella Montis. Choose the site that fits the current map condition and your extraction direction. A medical-area association tells you where to search first; it does not guarantee that a respirator appears in every raid.

Leaper Pulse Units: three Dam leads
The reported Dam Battlegrounds leads are Hydroponic Dome Complex, the Water Treatment Control elevator and Red Lakes Balcony. A practical run can begin at the dome, check the elevator while crossing Water Treatment, and use Red Lakes Balcony only if it still lies on the way to extraction. Adding a distant third stop solely because it is on a list can turn a focused material run into an unnecessary exposure window.
Exodus Modules and Magnetic Accelerators: Exodus facilities
For Exodus Modules and Magnetic Accelerators, the reported areas are Rocket Assembly in Spaceport and Assembly in Stella Montis. Select one map per deployment unless the current extraction and squad plan make a cross-map objective irrelevant; the useful principle is to search the Exodus-related facility that is already on your route, not to assume both maps share identical loot.
Using Stella Montis without overreading historical context
Embark describes Stella Montis as an abandoned facility where Raiders may find rare resources, gameplay items and schematics. Its North Line announcement also listed Metal Parts, Fabric, Chemicals, Rubber Parts and Plastic Parts as materials donated for a historical tunnel-restoration event. That event list is not a current farming requirement, so do not use it as proof that those five materials are the most efficient Stella Montis targets today. Read the official context in The Frontier Expands North, then verify the live map condition before choosing the facility.

Every route balances four variables: how directly it reaches the material, how far the next stop is, how much player and ARC exposure the path may create, and whether the final stop points toward a viable extraction. Published guides do not provide a common numerical measure for these variables, so make the comparison in your own pre-raid plan:
Rank #4
- Target fit: Count only stops that contain the right container type or named area for your material.
- Distance: Prefer adjacent stops. A route that crosses the map for one additional container is usually harder to recover if you are interrupted.
- Exposure: Expect conditions, noise, enemy activity and other Raiders to change the practical risk. The available sources do not support a fixed risk ranking for maps.
- Extraction alignment: The final stop should shorten the path to extraction. If it sends you back through cleared territory, redraw the route.
- Backpack economics: Keep the target material and high-value components first. Recycle only when the conversion helps the objective and does not sacrifice a needed item.
A repeatable pre-raid and in-raid procedure
Before deployment
- Check the official map-condition schedule and note any condition that changes visibility, movement or expected traffic.
- Choose one primary material and, at most, one compatible secondary target located along the same path.
- Place three or four waypoints in order, with the last waypoint near an extraction. Avoid a route whose only way back is through the starting area.
- Decide which item categories you will recycle. For an Oil run, the documented examples are Water Pumps, Coolant, Polluted Air Filters, Motors and Synthesized Fuel.
- Set a withdrawal trigger: the target item secured, backpack nearly full, unexpected squad pressure, or a route condition that makes the extraction no longer favorable.
During the run
- Move to the first waypoint and search the relevant structures before expanding into unrelated rooms.
- Update the route after every major find. If the primary material is secured, skip optional detours.
- Recycle only in a safe moment and only when the conversion improves your material balance.
- Keep the next waypoint between you and extraction. Do not reverse direction merely because one listed location was empty.
- Extract as soon as the expected value of another search is lower than the value already secured. A successful extraction is part of the route, not an afterthought.
What current evidence does—and does not—prove
There is no verified official drop-rate table for these crafting materials in the available coverage. A secondary Oil article publishes container percentages, but they are not corroborated by an official loot table and should not be used as authoritative probabilities. Likewise, named locations in project and route guides are useful search leads, not guarantees of a particular item or quantity.
Loot behavior may also be changing. GamesRadar reported that Embark was testing dynamic loot zones on Pendola Pass. Executive producer Aleksander Grøndal said that, if feedback and implementation went well, “it will be fairly straightforward for us to go back and reapply that to the existing maps as well.” The statement is conditional; it does not establish that existing-map loot zones have already changed. Read the report for the context of the quote: GamesRadar+’s Frozen Trail coverage.
Troubleshooting a poor haul
The named location was empty
Do not keep circling the same room. Search the next documented area on your route, then extract if the target still has not appeared. The guides establish associations, not guaranteed spawns.

You found items but no usable Oil
Check whether you searched vehicles and mechanical or industrial containers, then review the recyclable examples—Water Pumps, Coolant, Polluted Air Filters, Motors and Synthesized Fuel. If the backpack is filling with unrelated loot, recycle selectively or leave rather than sacrificing extraction time.
The route keeps sending you back through danger
Redraw it with three or four waypoints that advance toward extraction. A shorter route with fewer stops is preferable to a complete circuit when the extra leg adds distance without a documented material target.
Your old route no longer behaves the same
Check the current map-condition schedule and recent patch context. Dynamic-loot testing and other updates can alter practical results, while older guides may still describe the locations they observed. Treat the guide as a lead and the live raid as the final authority.
Bottom line
Use Dam Battlegrounds for the clearest documented crafting-material route: Hydroponic Dome Complex, Water Treatment, Power Generation, then industrial garages and catwalks, with vehicles and mechanical or industrial containers prioritized for Oil. For every other item, target the map and named facility associated with that material, connect the stops toward extraction, and verify current conditions before deploying. No available source supports a universal map ranking, official spawn guarantee or cross-map yield comparison.
