XREAL One is the best all-round choice for portable gaming and movie watching. It combines a 1080p image at up to 120Hz, a 50-degree field of view, 600-nit perceived brightness, built-in spatial tracking and strong speakers. TechRadar tested it with a PC, PS5 and smartphone, and measured a virtual screen described as 147 inches. After adjusting the fit, the reviewer could wear it for hours.
Choose VITURE Pro XR instead if prescription support and an accessory ecosystem matter most. Choose the lighter RayNeo GT if you want a large virtual screen and 68-gram weight, while accepting that Dolby Vision requires the $199 Pocket TV Pro and that the glasses lack electrochromic dimming. All three are primarily wired displays: they receive video and power from a compatible phone, computer, handheld, console adapter or companion device rather than acting as independent wireless televisions.
What AR glasses actually do
AR glasses in this category are wearable external monitors. A micro-OLED display in each lens creates a floating screen in front of you, while a USB-C cable carries video and usually power from a source device. The source may be a Steam Deck, ROG Ally, compatible Android phone, laptop, tablet or a companion unit. They do not generally run console games or streaming apps by themselves.
That distinction affects every buying decision. A good pair can turn a handheld into a cinema-sized private display without adding a full monitor, but the experience depends on the source’s video output, the cable and, for HDMI equipment, an adapter that can provide both conversion and power. Spatial features also vary: some glasses can keep a screen fixed in space or follow your head, while others behave like a conventional monitor.
#1 Best Overall
- YOUR PRIVATE 147” BIG SCREEN, ANYWHERE — Plug the a01+ into your phone, tablet, handheld, or laptop and a giant 147” screen appears in front of you—for movies, gaming, or getting work done on the couch, on a flight, or in bed. A true portable display you wear, in a soda-can-sized 210g case that drops in your pocket.
- ALWAYS RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU — The screen follows your view with smooth, stabilized tracking and stays centered as you look around—nothing to anchor or set up, and no drift to reset. Press play and your big screen is simply there.
- 62G — LIGHT ENOUGH TO FORGET — At just 62g, with three nose-pad sizes and flexible temples, the a01+ stays comfortable through a long movie or flight, even lying down.
- LOOKS LIKE SUNGLASSES, NOT A GADGET — A slim, sunglasses-style frame with a signature semi-transparent chassis and neon logo—light and low-profile enough to actually wear out.
- WORKS WITH YOUR USB-C GEAR — No Battery to Charge — Connects and powers over a single USB-C DisplayPort cable: iPhone 15/16/17, iPad, DP-capable Android phones, Steam Deck, ROG Ally, Mac and PC. Nintendo Switch/Switch 2 and older (Lightning) iPhones need an adapter. For long phone sessions, add the XREAL Hub to charge and watch at once.

Why XREAL One is the best overall pick
Gaming performance and image stability
XREAL One is the safest general recommendation because its core display specifications suit both games and films. The 1080p resolution keeps text and game interfaces usable, while 120Hz can make supported games and system navigation look smoother than a 60Hz wearable display. Its 50-degree field of view is wider than RayNeo GT’s 46-degree figure, so a large virtual image occupies more of your view without requiring you to move your head as much.
The XREAL X1 chip provides 3DoF tracking. In practical terms, the image can remain steady in the room instead of moving with every small head movement. That is useful when a game HUD or movie frame is pinned in place. XREAL’s official One-series documentation identifies the X1 chip and 3DoF capability; TechRadar also tested connections to a PC, PS5 and smartphone.

TechRadar described a 147-inch virtual screen and found the glasses comfortable for hours after fit adjustment. Electrochromic dimming is particularly valuable on a plane or train because it lets you reduce the effect of cabin light without attaching a separate physical shade. The built-in speakers are useful in a quiet room, but they are open speakers: people nearby may hear some sound, and aircraft engines can overwhelm them.
What you still need
The glasses can operate without Beam Pro. TechRadar nevertheless found Beam Pro made the package feel more complete for media and spatial use. Treat it as an optional companion rather than a mandatory part of the basic display connection. If your source only offers HDMI, you must add a suitable HDMI-to-USB-C adapter, and the adapter may also need a power-injection connection.
When VITURE Pro XR is the better choice
Prescription users
VITURE Pro XR has built-in myopia adjustment up to -5.0D, according to Windows Central’s 2025 coverage. It also accepts a magnetic prescription-lens frame. That can be more convenient than ordering custom inserts or wearing ordinary glasses under a display, although the adjustment range does not cover every prescription and does not replace an optician’s measurement.

The Beast gives you both — cranked to eleven.
Accessory and software ecosystem
Windows Central presents VITURE Pro XR as a private, ultra-portable external display with an expanding ecosystem of software and accessories. This makes it attractive if you expect to add travel or control accessories over time rather than use the glasses as a single wired monitor.

The same review says XREAL One has more onboard spatial-computing features. Therefore, choose VITURE primarily for prescription convenience and ecosystem value, not on the assumption that it is the most advanced standalone spatial platform.
When RayNeo GT makes sense
Large image, low weight
Tom’s Guide’s 2026 review lists RayNeo GT at 68g, with a tandem micro-OLED display, 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, a 46-degree field of view and up to 1,200 nits perceived brightness. It describes a 231-inch virtual screen, the largest named figure among these models. The combination is appealing for handheld gaming and long films when minimizing weight matters more than the widest field of view.
Three spatial modes
The native 3DoF chip supports steady, pinned and follow modes. Steady keeps the image aligned with your view, pinned anchors it to a position in the room, and follow keeps it available as you look around. Those modes are useful distinctions when switching between a game, a film and a moving environment.
Costs and missing hardware
Dolby Vision is not enabled by the glasses alone; Tom’s Guide says it requires the $199 Pocket TV Pro. Include that one-time accessory cost when comparing HDR-capable setups. RayNeo GT also lacks electrochromic dimming and a fitted lens cover, so bright environments and transport protection require more planning than with a model that includes those features.
Where Rokid Max fits
Rokid’s specification sheet lists 1920×1080 FHD output and directional speakers. It has no internal battery: a phone or Rokid Station supplies power. That makes it a straightforward choice when you already have a compatible source and want a private wired display, but it provides less documented information in the supplied specifications about refresh rate, field of view, tracking and prescription accommodation. Do not assume those characteristics match the leading models without checking the exact current configuration.

Compatibility: handhelds, phones, laptops and consoles
USB-C handhelds and phones
Steam Deck, ROG Ally and similar handhelds are the easiest targets when their USB-C port supports DisplayPort video output. Connect the glasses directly with a full-featured USB-C cable, then select the glasses as the external display if the operating system does not switch automatically. A phone must support wired video output; USB-C alone does not guarantee it. Check the phone’s specifications for DisplayPort Alt Mode or its equivalent before buying.
- Charge the handheld or phone and install any required system updates.
- Connect the glasses to the device’s video-capable USB-C port.
- Wait for the external display to appear, then set the desired resolution and refresh rate.
- Start a game or video and adjust the nose pads, temples and screen position before a long session.
Laptops and PCs
A laptop with USB-C DisplayPort output can connect directly. On Windows, use the display settings to choose duplicate or extend mode and select 120Hz where both the computer and glasses support it. If the computer’s USB-C port carries data but not video, use a supported video output instead; a charging-only port cannot drive the glasses.
PS5, Xbox and other HDMI consoles
These glasses are not wireless console receivers. A PS5, Xbox or other HDMI source needs a compatible HDMI-to-USB-C adapter. The adapter must convert the signal into the format the glasses accept, and many setups require separate USB power injection. Connect the console’s HDMI output to the adapter, provide the adapter’s required power, then connect its USB-C display output to the glasses.

Verify that the adapter supports the console’s resolution and refresh rate; an adapter designed only for low-power phone output may fail with a console.
Watching Netflix and downloaded movies while travelling
Streaming
Streaming services run on the connected phone, tablet, laptop or companion device, not normally inside the glasses. Confirm that the source can play the service over an external display and that the app does not impose a device-specific restriction. A wired setup avoids relying on an airplane’s unreliable Wi-Fi, but it still depends on the source device’s battery and downloaded or cached content.
Flights and trains
Preload films, shows and games before leaving home. Carry the correct USB-C cable, any HDMI adapter you may need, and a power bank that can charge the source while the glasses are connected. Open speakers can struggle with aircraft noise, so pack headphones; this is also the best way to prevent sound leakage to nearby passengers.

Electrochromic dimming on XREAL One helps in changing cabin light. RayNeo GT’s lack of electrochromic dimming means you may need to manage reflections with the cabin shade, seating position or an optional physical solution. A fitted lens cover is also useful in a bag; RayNeo GT does not include that feature according to Tom’s Guide.

Prescription, fit and long-session comfort
Prescription requirements
VITURE Pro XR is the only model in this comparison with a documented built-in myopia range: up to -5.0D, plus a magnetic prescription frame. If you have astigmatism, hyperopia, a prescription outside that range or a strong cylinder correction, ask an optician about compatible inserts before ordering. Do not assume ordinary glasses will fit comfortably behind every pair.
Fit adjustment
Wearable displays are sensitive to vertical alignment. Adjust the nose support and temple position until both images are equally sharp, then set the display’s brightness and tint for the environment. A poor fit can look like a focus or resolution problem. Take a short break after each adjustment instead of tightening the frame until it causes pressure.
TechRadar’s XREAL One review found hours-long comfort after fit adjustment. That is a reviewer-specific result, not a guarantee for every face shape. Weight, cable position and prescription inserts can change comfort substantially.
Audio, privacy and noise
Built-in speakers make setup simple, and XREAL One’s audio was described as strong. RayNeo GT uses quad speakers, while Rokid Max lists directional speakers. These are open designs rather than sealed headphones: they preserve awareness of your surroundings but can leak sound.
- Use the glasses’ speakers in a quiet room when awareness matters.
- Use headphones on aircraft and trains, where engine and cabin noise can mask open speakers.
- Lower the volume in shared spaces because nearby passengers may hear dialogue or game audio.
- Remember that the screen is private only from a viewing-angle perspective; the connected phone or laptop still contains your account and downloads.
Accessory and total-setup planning
Compare a complete setup, not just the frame. A USB-C handheld may need only the glasses and a suitable cable. An HDMI console needs an HDMI-to-USB-C adapter and possibly power injection. A prescription user may need a lens frame or custom inserts. Spatial workflows can add a companion device: XREAL One works without Beam Pro, but TechRadar found Beam Pro made the package feel more complete; RayNeo GT needs the $199 Pocket TV Pro for Dolby Vision.

A practical buying decision
- Choose XREAL One if you want the broadest balance of gaming smoothness, movie size, dimming, field of view and documented source compatibility.
- Choose VITURE Pro XR if your prescription is within its documented -5.0D myopia adjustment or you specifically want its magnetic prescription frame and accessory ecosystem.
- Choose RayNeo GT if low weight and the largest stated virtual-screen figure matter most, and you can live without electrochromic dimming or a fitted lens cover.
- Choose Rokid Max when you want a basic 1080p wired display and already have a compatible phone or Rokid Station, while accepting that fewer comparable specifications are documented here.
- Check the source before ordering. Confirm DisplayPort output for USB-C devices, HDMI adapter support for consoles, available power and the streaming or gaming apps you plan to use.
Troubleshooting common failures
No image over USB-C
Move the cable to a USB-C port that supports DisplayPort output. Replace charging-only cables with a full-featured video cable, restart the source with the glasses connected and verify that the operating system detects an external monitor.
Console image cuts out or never appears
Check the HDMI-to-USB-C adapter’s compatibility, connect its power-injection lead if required and set the console to a supported resolution. An adapter that works with a low-power phone may not be suitable for a console.
Image is blurry in one or both eyes
Recenter the frame, adjust the nose support and clean the lenses. If one eye remains blurred, check your prescription and the glasses’ adjustment range rather than increasing brightness.
Audio is too quiet on a plane
Use headphones. Open speakers are convenient in quiet surroundings but are not designed to overcome sustained aircraft noise.
The screen moves when you do not want it to
Select the appropriate spatial mode. A steady or pinned mode is usually preferable for a film or a fixed game screen; follow mode is useful when you want the image to remain available as you look around.
Verdict
XREAL One is the strongest general-purpose AR-glasses display for portable gaming and movies because it combines 1080p/120Hz output, a 50-degree field of view, electrochromic dimming, documented PC/PS5/phone compatibility and useful 3DoF tracking. VITURE Pro XR is the more practical prescription-led choice, while RayNeo GT is compelling for buyers who prioritize 68-gram weight and a very large virtual screen. Whichever model you select, verify video output, adapters, power and headphones before travel: the glasses improve the screen, but the source device and accessories determine whether the complete setup works.
