There is no independently verified single “best” American Truck Simulator (ATS) host in 2026. The names that recur in current roundups are HostHavoc, Sparked Host, Shockbyte, Game Host Bros, G-Portal, XGamingServer, ZAP-Hosting, and xREALM, but rankings vary and several comparison pages use affiliate links. Choose by your convoy size, player locations, mod requirements, and the provider’s actual refund and upgrade terms—not by a roundup position.
What “ATS server hosting” actually provides
An ATS server host rents the computing and network resources needed to keep a multiplayer session available without one player leaving a gaming PC running. You manage the server through a provider control panel, while the ATS dedicated-server software handles the game session. This is different from TruckersMP, a separate multiplayer platform; the material available for this comparison does not establish that any listed host supports TruckersMP.
The official dedicated-server tool is published by SCS Software and has Steam app ID 2239530. You can install it through Steam, or use SteamCMD when the machine does not have the Steam desktop client. A hosted plan is therefore a software service, not a physical product.
Dedicated server, convoy, and TruckersMP are not interchangeable terms
- ATS dedicated server: the SCS server application runs continuously on a host or your own VPS.
- Convoy: the game’s built-in multiplayer mode. Community setup material commonly describes an eight-player limit for convoy sessions.
- TruckersMP: a separate multiplayer ecosystem. Support for it was not verified for the providers in the available material, so ask a host directly before paying.
A provider may advertise a larger server-side slot number than the game mode permits. That does not automatically increase the number of players who can join one standard convoy.

Providers that appear most often in 2026 comparisons
The following list is a shortlist, not a ranking. Roundups from different months place these companies in different positions, and no published, owner-and-year statistic establishes which host has the best uptime, latency, or support. Prices are search-result snapshots recorded on October 14, 2026; they are not verified quotes and can change at checkout.
| Provider | Published starting price in the snapshot | Slot or capacity information | Other stated detail |
|---|---|---|---|
| HostHavoc | $10 per month for eight slots in one review | Eight slots in that review | Modified TCAdmin v2 control platform; 72-hour money-back guarantee reported by the review |
| Sparked Host | Not stated | Not stated | Appears repeatedly in 2026 roundups; verify ATS-specific capacity and features |
| Shockbyte | Not stated | Not stated | Appears repeatedly in 2026 roundups; verify ATS-specific capacity and features |
| Game Host Bros | From $7.99 per month | Provider page claims up to 128 players | One page says there are no per-slot fees |
| G-Portal | $12.52 for 30 days on one eight-slot listing | Capped at eight players per server in the cited listing | Confirm whether the displayed term is recurring and whether taxes or regional pricing apply |
| XGamingServer | Conflicting figures: from $10 per month on AMD Ryzen 9 7950X, and from $7 per month with a 30% discount | Not stated | Ask which price, hardware tier, and discount conditions apply to ATS |
| ZAP-Hosting | From $7.14 | Not stated | A lifetime option is advertised; request the exact lifetime terms before purchase |
| xREALM | From €4.99 per month | Not stated | DDoS protection is listed |
“Not stated” means the available listing did not establish a value; it is not evidence that a provider lacks the feature. Currency, billing period, taxes, renewal price, and discount eligibility should all be confirmed in the order screen.
How to choose a host for your group
1. Start with the real player count
Count simultaneous players, not the number of people in your community. An eight-person weekend convoy has a different requirement from a virtual trucking company that wants a larger shared server. The built-in convoy limit described by community guides is eight, while Game Host Bros advertises up to 128 players at the server level. Those figures may refer to different layers of the product, so treat the 128-player claim as a provider-side limit rather than proof that one normal ATS convoy accepts 128 drivers.

- What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.
- For a group of up to eight using standard convoy play, an eight-slot plan may be sufficient.
- For a larger organization, ask whether the advertised slots are usable in the ATS mode you intend to run, not merely provisioned in the control panel.
- Leave headroom if you expect guests, events, or future growth; changing plans should not require rebuilding your world and configuration.
2. Put the server near most players
Location affects round-trip latency. Select a region that minimizes distance for the majority of drivers, then ask whether the provider lets you move regions later. The available comparisons do not publish a universal “best” location or latency measurement, so do not infer performance from a brand’s general reputation.
3. Check mod and game-mode support before ordering
ATS servers rely on a configuration file and package files generated from the game installation. Ask the host whether its panel lets you upload and manage those files, restart safely, and restore a backup. Also ask specifically about the mods you intend to use and whether the plan supports only SCS convoy sessions or another multiplayer platform. No provider-specific mod or TruckersMP capability is established here.
4. Compare billing protections, not just the headline price
- Is the price recurring monthly, promotional, or a one-time lifetime payment?
- What is the renewal price after a discount?
- Is the refund window measured from purchase or from server activation?
- Can you increase or decrease slots without changing IP address or losing files?
- Are backups, DDoS protection, additional storage, and support included?
The only specific refund term in the available figures is a 72-hour money-back guarantee reported for an eight-slot HostHavoc plan. Treat it as plan-specific until the provider confirms otherwise.

5. Match hardware to your mod load
Heavily modded sessions can require more CPU and memory than a lightly configured convoy. The available listings do not provide a reliable, apples-to-apples RAM and CPU table for every provider. Where a host advertises hardware—such as XGamingServer’s reference to an AMD Ryzen 9 7950X—ask whether that is the physical host model, a shared node, or a guaranteed allocation, and how much RAM and CPU time your plan receives.
Price comparison: what the snapshots do and do not tell you
| Price question | What is established | What you must verify |
|---|---|---|
| Lowest advertised entry | xREALM lists €4.99 monthly; ZAP-Hosting lists $7.14; Game Host Bros lists $7.99 monthly | Region, currency conversion, taxes, renewal rate, and the resources attached to the entry tier |
| Per-slot charging | One Game Host Bros page says there are no per-slot fees | Whether the statement applies to every ATS plan and whether upgrades add other charges |
| Eight-player plan | G-Portal listing: $12.52 per 30 days; HostHavoc review: $10 monthly | Whether both figures are current, recurring, tax-inclusive, and tied to the same resource level |
| Discounted pricing | XGamingServer figures conflict: $10 monthly on one page versus $7 monthly with a 30% discount on another | Eligibility, term length, renewal price, and which hardware tier each figure describes |
| Lifetime purchase | ZAP-Hosting advertises a lifetime option | What “lifetime” means, what support and resources remain included, and whether refunds apply |
These numbers are useful for creating a shortlist, not for calculating a guaranteed annual cost. A plan that appears cheaper can cost more after renewal, taxes, a required slot upgrade, or paid backups.

Step 1: Install the official server application
- Install the SCS dedicated-server tool through Steam using app ID 2239530, or install it with SteamCMD on a machine without the Steam client.
- On a hosted plan, use the provider’s game installer or file manager if it exposes the same official application. Confirm that the selected game is American Truck Simulator, not Euro Truck Simulator 2.
- Start the server once. Community guides state that the first launch creates the configuration folder.
Step 2: Generate and copy the package files
- On a local ATS installation, enable the developer console in
config.cfgas described by the Windows setup guide. - Launch the game and run the in-game export that generates the server package data.
- Copy
server_packages.datandserver_packages.siifrom the local game to the dedicated server’s configuration folder. - Keep the two files together. The server reports a missing packages file when they are absent, in the wrong folder, or not readable by the server process.
Step 3: Configure the server
- Open
server_config.siiin the configuration folder. If it does not exist, launch the server once so the tool can create the folder and initial configuration. - Set the server name, password, and gameplay options required by your group.
- Paste a Steam game-server login token into the Steam Token field. A hosting guide identifies app ID 270880 for this token; that is the ATS game app, not the dedicated-server tool’s app ID 2239530.
- Save the file, stop the server cleanly, and start it again from the host panel.
Step 4: Validate before inviting everyone
- Join with one client from the same region and confirm the server appears and accepts the password.
- Test the intended mods with a second client. A package mismatch can prevent joining even when the server itself is online.
- Check that the configured slot count matches the plan you purchased.
- Record the server name, address, port, and restart schedule for your group.
Self-hosting on a VPS versus buying a game-server plan
A virtual private server gives you operating-system access and control over the installation. IONOS publishes a dedicated ATS setup guide that can serve as a reference for a VPS deployment. Self-hosting can make sense when you already administer Linux or Windows, need custom automation, or want to choose your own backup and monitoring stack.
Choose a managed game-server plan when
- You want a control panel instead of operating-system administration.
- Your group needs quick restarts, file management, and a provider support channel.
- You prefer a clearly advertised slot plan and a defined refund policy.
Choose a VPS when
- You can secure, update, monitor, and back up the server yourself.
- You need services beyond ATS on the same machine and understand the resource trade-off.
- You are comfortable diagnosing firewall, permissions, SteamCMD, and process-management problems.
A VPS is not automatically cheaper or faster. You must account for administration time, operating-system updates, storage, backups, and DDoS protection that a managed plan may bundle or sell separately.

“Packages file is missing”
Regenerate the package export from the local game and copy both server_packages.dat and server_packages.sii to the exact configuration directory. Check spelling, capitalization, file permissions, and whether the panel placed files in a nested upload folder. Restart after copying.
Best Value
- 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
- Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
- Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
- HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
- What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.
The server starts but nobody can join
- Verify that the Steam token belongs in the Steam Token field and was generated for ATS app ID 270880.
- Confirm that the server is running the same game version and package set expected by clients.
- Check the plan’s active slot count and any password or whitelist settings.
- Ask the host whether its firewall exposes the required game port and whether a region move is possible.
Players receive a mod or package mismatch
Compare the server’s exported package files and mod list with every client. Have all players leave, update to the same files, and rejoin after a clean restart. Do not assume a higher advertised slot count resolves a content mismatch.
The advertised price is different at checkout
Capture the plan name, billing period, currency, discount code, and renewal terms shown before payment. The XGamingServer figures in current listings already conflict, and all prices in this article are snapshots rather than verified quotes. Ask support to explain the difference before ordering.
Shortlist by use case
| Your situation | Reasonable starting point | Questions to resolve first |
|---|---|---|
| Small convoy of up to eight | Compare eight-slot offers from HostHavoc and G-Portal with any similarly sized plan | Actual recurring price, region, refund window, and whether the plan includes the file controls you need |
| Lowest advertised entry price | Investigate xREALM, ZAP-Hosting, and Game Host Bros | Currency, taxes, renewal cost, slot count, and resource allocation |
| Potentially larger community | Ask Game Host Bros to explain its up-to-128-player claim | Whether 128 is usable in your ATS multiplayer mode and what CPU/RAM allocation applies |
| Hardware-sensitive, mod-heavy setup | Request an explicit CPU and RAM allocation from every finalist; XGamingServer references Ryzen 9 7950X hardware | Dedicated versus shared resources, storage, backups, and support for your mod set |
| Self-managed deployment | Use a VPS following an ATS-specific deployment guide | Operating-system administration, firewall, updates, backups, and token configuration |
Community recommendations that deserve separate verification
The Truck Simulator fandom wiki, which is community-maintained, names Citadel Servers, Imperium Hosting, and Servers4Gamers as recommendations. They do not appear in the recurring commercial roundup shortlist above, and comparable price, slot, refund, and hardware figures were not established for them. Treat those names as additional leads to evaluate with the same checklist, not as independently validated winners.
Buying checklist
- Write down your simultaneous player count and whether you need standard convoy play or another platform.
- Choose the closest available region to most drivers.
- Confirm the exact monthly or one-time price, currency, taxes, discount duration, and renewal price.
- Confirm slot limits, upgrade and downgrade rules, and whether slots are usable in your intended ATS mode.
- Ask about mod uploads, package-file access, backups, restore points, scheduled restarts, and file migration.
- Request CPU and RAM allocation for a mod-heavy session instead of relying on a host-node brand.
- Read the refund policy; the only specific term identified here is HostHavoc’s reported 72-hour window for one eight-slot plan.
- Verify Steam token instructions and the distinction between app ID 2239530 for the server tool and app ID 270880 for the game token.
- Run a two-player test before announcing the server to your entire community.
Verdict
For most small ATS groups, begin by comparing properly documented eight-slot plans rather than chasing a universal ranking. HostHavoc and G-Portal have identifiable eight-slot figures in the available listings; Game Host Bros, xREALM, and ZAP-Hosting show low advertised entry prices; XGamingServer requires clarification because its published prices conflict. Sparked Host and Shockbyte remain shortlist candidates, but the available material does not establish their ATS price, slots, or hardware. The right choice is the host that confirms your required mode, region, package-file workflow, resource allocation, and total recurring cost in writing.
