If you want to replace a Xiaomi fitness band, start with the feature you cannot compromise on. Choose Fitbit Charge 6 for phone-free outdoor GPS and a broad workout feature set, Samsung Galaxy Fit3 for a low-cost, light band when connected-to-phone tracking is acceptable, or Amazfit Active 3 Premium for a watch-style screen with GPS-oriented outdoor tracking. None is universally best: phone compatibility, battery expectations, screen preference and subscription requirements change the right choice.
This guide compares those alternatives with Xiaomi’s Smart Band 10 as the reference point, explains what the published specifications do and do not prove, and gives a practical switch-over checklist.
Quick comparison: which Xiaomi alternative fits your routine?
The table is a starting point, not a ranking of sensor accuracy. The available product information and current editorial guides do not establish a controlled, independent head-to-head accuracy winner for steps, heart rate or sleep.
| Model | Best fit | Phone-free GPS | Published battery information | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fitbit Charge 6 | Outdoor walking, running and a wider set of workout features | Yes; Fitbit describes built-in GPS that works without a phone | Not stated in the supplied product evidence | Daily Readiness Score is listed with Google Health Premium; feature availability can depend on region and membership |
| Samsung Galaxy Fit3 | Budget-focused everyday steps, sleep and basic workouts | No GPS, according to TechRadar’s current guide | TechRadar reports up to 13 days in detailed copy and 14 days in its comparison table | The source is internally inconsistent; verify the local Samsung specification and phone support before buying |
| Amazfit Active 3 Premium | People who prefer a watch-style display and outdoor tracking | Yes; TechRadar lists dual-frequency GPS | Up to 12 days in TechRadar’s comparison table | Confirm the exact model, price, stock and features in your country |
| Xiaomi Smart Band 10 (reference) | Very light band use with many sport profiles and long stated battery life | Not established as built-in GPS in the supplied evidence | Up to 21 days, or nine days with always-on display, in Tech Advisor’s guide | Xiaomi’s swim figure is an internal-lab claim, not independent validation |
What to compare before leaving Xiaomi
Built-in GPS versus connected GPS
Built-in GPS allows the wearable to record a route and pace outdoors while you leave your phone behind. Connected GPS uses the phone’s location service; the band displays or stores the workout only while the phone is present and communicating. If you run, hike or walk where carrying a phone is inconvenient, treat this as a first-order buying decision rather than a minor specification.

Subscription gates
A device can record daily activity without a subscription while reserving deeper coaching or readiness features for a paid tier. Fitbit’s official Charge 6 page lists Daily Readiness Score as available with Google Health Premium. Check the current regional app page and trial terms so a feature you expect is not dependent on a recurring payment.
Band comfort and screen size
A narrow band is usually easier to ignore during sleep and routine movement. A larger, watch-style display makes pace, time and workout screens easier to read without opening an app. Your wrist size, sleep position, sweat, charging habits and tolerance for notifications matter more than a specification-sheet victory.
Phone and app compatibility
Compatibility statements differ by market and by source. Check the exact phone operating-system version, account requirements, companion app and regional product page before ordering. Do not assume that a tracker that works with one Android phone or one country’s firmware will provide the same experience on an iPhone or in another market.
Battery claims are estimates, not a lab comparison
Manufacturers and editorial guides state battery life under particular settings. Always-on display, frequent GPS, bright screens, notifications, continuous heart-rate sampling and cold weather can reduce runtime. The figures in the table come from different sources and conditions, so they are not controlled test results.
Fitbit Charge 6: the clearest choice for phone-free workouts
Fitbit’s official product information describes the Charge 6 as tracking heart rate, steps, distance, calories and Active Zone Minutes. It lists more than 40 exercise modes, built-in GPS, water resistance to 50 metres and a compatible ECG app. That combination makes it the most straightforward alternative here for someone whose everyday tracking includes regular outdoor runs, walks or rides and who does not always want a phone on their wrist.
Why it suits active users
- Built-in GPS can record an outdoor route without a phone, which is the key distinction from a connected-GPS band.
- Active Zone Minutes and the large exercise-mode list provide more workout context than a simple step counter.
- The ECG app is described as compatible, but app and regulatory availability can vary by region.
- Water resistance to 50 metres supports ordinary swimming and shower exposure within the manufacturer’s use guidance; it is not a promise of suitability for every water activity.
What to check before purchase
The Charge 6 page identifies Daily Readiness Score as a Google Health Premium feature. If readiness, coaching or similar analysis is central to your decision, price the membership for your region and confirm which functions remain available without it. The official page documents the feature set; it is not independent proof that the sensors are clinically accurate or more accurate than Xiaomi’s.
Samsung Galaxy Fit3: a budget band when your phone can do the locating
TechRadar’s current guide positions the Galaxy Fit3 as a budget tracker with a 1.6-inch AMOLED display, activity tracking and no onboard GPS. It is a sensible Xiaomi alternative for users who mainly want steps, sleep and basic workout records, already carry a phone and prefer a bright, readable band screen over advanced route recording.

The same TechRadar guide gives two battery figures: up to 13 days in its detailed copy and 14 days in its comparison table. Because the source is internally inconsistent, treat neither number as a universal promise. Samsung’s local specification is the appropriate final check, and actual runtime will vary with display and notification settings.
TechRadar also flags iPhone compatibility as a limitation. That does not establish a single worldwide rule for every Galaxy Fit3 package or future software version. Confirm the exact phone model, operating-system version and country-specific support page before buying, especially if you do not use a Samsung phone.
Who should skip it
Choose another model if phone-free route recording is a requirement. The Fit3’s lack of GPS is not solved by a setting or an app update; it can only use location data supplied by a compatible phone.

Amazfit Active 3 Premium: watch-style tracking with GPS orientation
TechRadar’s comparison table lists the Amazfit Active 3 Premium with dual-frequency GPS and up to 12 days of battery life. It is the watch-style option in this group, aimed at readers who want a larger screen for workout metrics and outdoor navigation context rather than the smallest possible band.
Why the form factor matters
A watch-style case can make live pace, elapsed time and notifications easier to read while moving. It may also feel more substantial during sleep or on a smaller wrist than a narrow band. Try the shape and strap material if you can; comfort determines whether you wear any tracker consistently.
Verify the exact regional product
“Premium” names, prices, stock and feature bundles can differ by country. Confirm that the listing is the current Active 3 Premium model, that dual-frequency GPS is included in your market and that the companion app supports your phone. Do not infer water ratings, health functions or battery behavior from a similarly named model.
Xiaomi Smart Band 10 as the baseline
If you are deciding whether a switch is worthwhile, Xiaomi’s Smart Band 10 shows what you may be giving up. Xiaomi’s global page lists more than 150 sports modes, a nine-axis motion sensor, swim tracking and 5ATM water resistance. Tech Advisor reports up to 21 days of battery life, or nine days with the always-on display. Those are a manufacturer feature count and an editorially reported battery estimate, not a controlled comparison with the alternatives above.
How to interpret Xiaomi’s swim statistic
Xiaomi states 96% lap-count tracking accuracy based on its own internal laboratory testing. That figure should be read as a Xiaomi claim under its test conditions, not as independent evidence that the band is 96% accurate for every swimmer, pool or stroke. It also does not establish accuracy for steps, heart rate, sleep or medical decisions.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Water-use restrictions
Xiaomi cautions that the Smart Band 10 is not suitable for hot showers, hot springs, saunas or fast-paced water sports. A 5ATM rating is therefore not permission to expose it to every kind of water, heat or pressure.
Accessories for owners who keep it
Xiaomi identifies separately sold straps and a pendant accessory. Wearing the band as a necklace can affect step-counter accuracy, and the pendant must be purchased separately. These accessories can change how you wear an existing Smart Band 10, but they do not add built-in GPS or turn it into a different tracker.
Choose by use case instead of by a universal winner
Choose Fitbit Charge 6 when route recording matters
Select the Charge 6 when leaving your phone behind is a normal part of walking or running. Confirm the membership implications of readiness features and the availability of the ECG app in your region.
Choose Galaxy Fit3 when cost and simplicity matter most
Select the Fit3 when your phone is always with you, you want a readable AMOLED band and your priority is everyday movement rather than standalone route data. Verify phone support first, particularly for iPhone users.

Keep Xiaomi when its strengths already match your routine
There is no reason to switch solely because another brand has a longer feature list. If long stated battery life, a light band, many sport profiles and your current phone integration work well, replacing the device may add cost without improving the activities you actually track.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to switch without losing your activity history
- Export or preserve your Xiaomi data first. Open the current companion app and look for account, data export or synchronization settings. Save any available history before unpairing or deleting the app.
- Write down the measurements you care about. Note your usual step totals, sleep schedule, workout types and any manually entered information. Different apps may use different day boundaries and labels, so a direct numerical comparison can be misleading after the switch.
- Check the new device’s requirements. Confirm phone operating-system support, account creation, Bluetooth permissions, location permission for GPS, notification access and regional feature availability.
- Charge the new tracker before pairing. A full initial charge gives firmware updates and first-day synchronization room to complete without an early shutdown.
- Install only the official companion app. Sign in, update firmware and allow the permissions required for the functions you intend to use. Denying location permission can prevent route recording even on a model with built-in GPS.
- Fit the band consistently. Wear it snugly, with the sensor in contact with the skin but not tight enough to cause numbness or irritation. Use the same wrist and approximate position for the first week so your personal baseline is less affected by fit changes.
- Run a short validation workout. Start an outdoor walk with and without the phone when standalone GPS is a requirement. Check whether a route, distance and pace appear in the app after synchronization.
- Keep the Xiaomi device paired only as long as needed. Once history is preserved and the replacement is working, remove the old Bluetooth pairing to avoid notification conflicts and accidental synchronization to the wrong device.
Common failure modes and fixes
The route is missing
First determine whether the model has built-in GPS. A Galaxy Fit3 cannot record a standalone route because it has no onboard GPS according to the cited guide. On a GPS-equipped model, enable location permission, start the workout outdoors with a clear view of the sky, keep the firmware current and allow the app to synchronize after the session.
Battery life is much shorter than the headline estimate
Check always-on display, screen brightness, continuous heart-rate sampling, frequent notifications, repeated GPS sessions and automatic workout detection. Turn off features you do not use, reduce display timeout and recharge on a schedule that does not interrupt sleep tracking. Published estimates are conditional; a shorter result under heavier use is not automatically a defect.
Recommended Free Tools
Notifications or synchronization stop
Keep Bluetooth enabled, remove battery restrictions from the companion app, allow background activity and confirm that the tracker is paired to the intended phone account. If two tracker apps are installed, check that both are not competing for the same notification or Bluetooth permissions.
The app shows fewer features than the product page
Look for regional restrictions, a required membership, an unsupported phone, an app update or a model variant with a similar name. ECG, readiness and coaching functions are especially likely to have country, account or regulatory conditions.
Sleep or heart-rate readings look implausible
Recheck fit, wrist position and charging gaps before drawing conclusions. Consumer wearables provide wellness estimates, not a diagnosis or a clinical-grade measurement. Persistent symptoms or medical concerns belong with a qualified clinician, not a tracker comparison.
Accuracy, health and privacy: what the specifications cannot prove
Feature counts describe what a device attempts to measure; they do not establish how close every result is to a reference instrument. No independent, current head-to-head study was established for the Charge 6, Galaxy Fit3 and Active 3 Premium in the available material. Do not choose one as objectively most accurate for steps, heart rate or sleep on that basis.
Use trend data consistently: wear the device in a similar position, keep software updated and interpret changes alongside your own activity and symptoms. A tracker can help you notice patterns, but it should not be used to diagnose illness, adjust medication or replace professional advice.
Review account, location, health and notification permissions during setup. Disable permissions that are not needed for your chosen functions, and understand whether the app synchronizes data to a cloud account before you rely on it as your only activity record.
Buying checklist
- Do I need GPS to work when the phone is left behind?
- Is a paid membership required for the insight I actually want?
- Does the exact model support my phone and country?
- Will a narrow band or a watch-style case be comfortable during sleep?
- Is the battery figure a conditional estimate rather than a comparable test?
- Are water and swim claims suitable for my activities, including heat and fast-moving water?
- Can I preserve my Xiaomi history before changing apps?
Bottom line for everyday Xiaomi replacements
For the broadest everyday upgrade path, the Fitbit Charge 6 is the clearest named choice when phone-free GPS and richer workout features matter. The Samsung Galaxy Fit3 is the pragmatic low-cost band if your phone can provide location and your compatibility checks pass. The Amazfit Active 3 Premium is the better-shaped alternative for readers who want a larger watch-style display and GPS-oriented outdoor tracking. Keep the Xiaomi Smart Band 10 if its light design, sport coverage and battery behavior already fit your routine; switching brands is worthwhile only when a specific capability solves a real limitation.
