The ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41 is the clearest low-cost alternative to the Triangle Capella 2: it supplies 2 × 50 W amplification, HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, optical and USB inputs, a switchable line/phono input, and a subwoofer output at a much lower listed price. Choose the Triangle AIO Twin instead when built-in Wi-Fi streaming and a phono input matter more than a wireless connection between the speakers.

Neither system matches the Capella 2 feature for feature. Capella 2 combines a separate networked hub, WiSA wireless speaker linking, HDMI ARC/CEC, extensive digital and analog connectivity, integrated DSP, room calibration, and a dedicated subwoofer output. The right choice depends on which of those capabilities you will actually use.

What the Triangle Capella 2 is selling at the premium price

Capella 2 is a complete active stereo system rather than a pair of passive bookshelf speakers that requires a separate amplifier. Triangle supplies two bass-reflex speakers and a separate Stereo Hub 2. Sources and network services connect to the hub; WiSA sends the stereo signal from the hub to the speakers. Triangle describes this arrangement as allowing placement “without any cables between them.” That means no inter-speaker signal cable, not a cable-free installation: each speaker still needs its own power lead.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The hub is the system’s connection point. Triangle lists Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.2, WiSA, HDMI ARC/CEC, three optical inputs, coaxial, USB-A, USB-B, stereo RCA, Ethernet and a dedicated subwoofer output. Supported network features include AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Spotify Connect Lossless, Qobuz Connect, Tidal Connect, Roon Ready and UPnP/DLNA. The HDMI connection is intended for a television with ARC, while optical and coaxial serve other digital sources.

  • Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
  • Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
  • Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
  • Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
  • 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.

Triangle’s published specifications call for 100 W total system output (2 × 50 W per speaker), a stated 42 Hz–22 kHz frequency response, a 25 mm magnesium-alloy horn tweeter and a 16 cm natural-cellulose mid-bass driver. Triangle recommends rooms from 15 to 40 m². These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Triangle also lists integrated DSP and room-calibration capability, although the available specifications do not detail the calibration process or its measured effect.

A stereo RCA source can be connected directly, but a turntable must provide line-level output or be used with a separate phono stage. The subwoofer output leaves room for a future bass upgrade. Optional S05 stands increase the complete system cost and should be included when comparing the Capella 2 with a ready-to-use alternative.

The Capella prices include a separate hub, whereas the DCB41 and AIO Twin put the electronics in one master speaker. Check whether a retailer’s package includes speaker cables, remote controls, stands or other accessories before comparing checkout totals.

Best budget alternative: ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41

The DCB41 is the sensible choice when the objective is a capable powered stereo pair at the lowest documented price. What Hi-Fi calls it “a neat, affordable and talented entry point into speaker systems.” Its 2 × 50 W amplification is comparable to Capella 2’s per-speaker power figure on paper, but power ratings do not establish equal loudness, bass extension or sound quality.

Note: This device is not compatible with Linux.
  • What You Get: Anker USB-C Hub (5-in-1, 4K HDMI), welcome guide, 18-month warranty, and our friendly customer service.

What you get

  • HDMI ARC for a television, allowing the TV remote to control compatible volume functions.
  • USB and optical inputs for computers, streamers, consoles or other digital sources.
  • Bluetooth aptX for casual wireless playback from a phone or tablet.
  • A switchable line/phono input, so a line-level source or a suitable turntable can be connected without buying a separate phono preamp.
  • A subwoofer output for adding deeper bass later.

What you give up

The DCB41 has no native Wi-Fi streaming capability in What Hi-Fi’s description. Network services such as AirPlay, Google Cast, Spotify Connect, Qobuz Connect or Roon therefore require an external streamer or a device connected by Bluetooth, USB or another wired input. It also does not use a wireless hub-to-speaker link: the powered master speaker connects to its passive sibling with the supplied cable.

What Hi-Fi’s review says the built-in phono stage is adequate for occasional use but not a highlight. That is a reviewer’s listening observation, not a laboratory measurement. If vinyl is a central source, budget for a better external phono stage only if you hear a limitation in your system.

Who should buy it

Choose the DCB41 if your main sources are a TV, computer, game console, CD player or phone, and you prefer a simple setup over built-in network audio. It is especially compelling when the £329 guide price is available in your market, although the price and availability must be checked locally. It is not a like-for-like Capella 2 replacement for someone who needs multi-room network playback, WiSA placement flexibility or the Capella hub’s broad connection set.

Best lower-cost Wi-Fi option: Triangle AIO Twin

The AIO Twin targets a different compromise. What Hi-Fi’s 2026 turntable-speaker guide lists it at $899 and describes a compact all-in-one system with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and streaming services. It supports up to 24-bit/192 kHz audio and includes Ethernet for a wired network connection. That makes it the lower-cost route for a buyer who wants network playback without adding a separate streamer.

Inputs and turntable use

The AIO Twin provides phono/line RCA, optical, 3.5 mm and USB-A inputs, plus a subwoofer output. Its built-in phono stage allows a suitable turntable with the correct cartridge-level output to connect directly. Verify the turntable’s output type before buying: a turntable that already outputs line level should use the line setting, while a conventional phono-level deck should use the phono setting.

The important physical limitation

Unlike Capella 2, the AIO Twin does not send audio wirelessly from a separate hub to both speakers. Its amplification and streaming circuitry are in one master speaker, which connects to the passive second speaker by cable. Plan the furniture and cable route before purchase. The system still avoids buying a separate amplifier, but it does not provide Capella’s completely cable-free signal path between the stereo speakers.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Who should buy it

Select AIO Twin when Wi-Fi streaming, direct turntable connection and a compact branded system matter more than the lowest possible price or wireless speaker placement. It is a different product tier from Capella 2: the lower price reflects the simpler master-and-passive-speaker architecture, not merely a discount on identical hardware.

What you lose when you spend less

A lower price can be the right decision, but the trade-offs should be explicit rather than hidden behind a feature checklist.

Network streaming choices

Capella 2 and AIO Twin include Wi-Fi-based streaming. The DCB41 relies on Bluetooth and wired inputs, so it cannot independently join a home network or run the listed streaming services. If your routine is phone-to-Bluetooth playback, this may not matter. If you use lossless Connect services, AirPlay or a multi-room platform, the missing network layer is a daily limitation.

Speaker placement

Capella’s WiSA link removes the inter-speaker signal cable, which helps when power outlets are available near both speakers but running a long audio cable is difficult. DCB41 and AIO Twin need a cable from the master to the passive speaker. Neither arrangement eliminates all wiring: Capella needs two power cables, while each lower-cost system needs power for its master speaker and the supplied speaker cable to the second cabinet.

Source flexibility

Capella has the broadest documented selection: HDMI ARC/CEC, three optical inputs, coaxial, two USB formats, stereo RCA and Ethernet. DCB41 covers the most common TV and desktop sources with HDMI ARC, optical, USB and Bluetooth. AIO Twin adds Wi-Fi and a phono/line input but has a smaller digital-input list. Match the inputs to equipment you actually own instead of paying for unused sockets.

System expansion

All three systems list a subwoofer output, so each can be expanded with a compatible subwoofer. Capella’s separate hub and integrated DSP may be more attractive in a complex installation, but the available information does not provide a controlled test showing how its bass integration compares with either cheaper model.

Which system fits common buying situations?

You need the cheapest complete powered stereo pair

Start with the DCB41. Its documented £329 guide price is far below the reported Capella prices, and HDMI ARC, Bluetooth, optical, USB and line/phono input cover the sources most small TV or desktop systems use. Add an external streamer only if Bluetooth and wired playback stop being sufficient.

You want Wi-Fi streaming and a turntable input for less

Consider AIO Twin. It combines Wi-Fi services, Ethernet, Bluetooth and a built-in phono stage at the reported $899 guide price. Accept the cable to the passive speaker and confirm that the streaming services you use are supported in your region and current software version.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

You want Wi-Fi streaming plus HDMI ARC

Capella 2 is the only one of these three systems for which the supplied specifications document both Wi-Fi streaming and HDMI ARC/CEC. AIO Twin provides Wi-Fi streaming but the cited input list does not include HDMI ARC. DCB41 provides HDMI ARC but no native Wi-Fi streaming. Do not assume an optical connection offers the same TV-control features as ARC.

You need the cleanest flexible speaker placement

Capella’s WiSA connection is the strongest fit when an inter-speaker cable would be inconvenient. First confirm that both speaker positions have accessible power. If one position lacks an outlet, the wireless signal does not solve the installation problem.

You want a simple television setup and occasional vinyl

DCB41 is the economical fit. Its HDMI ARC connection handles the TV, and its switchable line/phono input accommodates occasional records. The built-in phono stage was considered adequate rather than exceptional by What Hi-Fi, so a dedicated phono stage is an upgrade path rather than a required starting purchase.

Placement, room size and bass planning

Triangle recommends Capella 2 for rooms of 15–40 m². That is a manufacturer recommendation, not a guarantee that every room in that range will sound the same. Distance from walls, listening position, furnishings and room modes can change bass and imaging substantially.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Place the left and right speakers symmetrically around the listening position where possible, with the tweeters near ear height. Keep the master speaker’s cable route in mind for DCB41 and AIO Twin, and locate the Capella hub where its source and network cables can reach it. Leave ventilation around powered electronics and avoid trapping a speaker behind a television or inside a closed cabinet.

Use the subwoofer output only after positioning the main speakers and setting a sensible level. A subwoofer can extend low bass, but excessive level or poor placement can make the system boomy. The cited material does not establish a compatible subwoofer model or a universal crossover setting, so select those after confirming the manufacturer’s compatibility guidance.

How the reported sound descriptions should be read

T3 reviewer Simon Lucas describes Capella 2 as “a direct, organised listen” capable of a “spacious, open and quite carefully organised” soundstage. T3 also characterizes the bass as punchy but not the final word in low-end extension. These are listening impressions from that review, not measured specifications and not a controlled comparison with DCB41 or AIO Twin.

No controlled head-to-head listening evidence is available here to prove that Capella 2 sounds better than either lower-priced system in every room. Use the feature, connection and placement differences to narrow the choice, then audition the finalists when possible. A higher price buys a more elaborate architecture and broader connectivity; it does not guarantee that every listener will prefer its tonal balance.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Price-check and setup checklist

  1. Write down every source you will connect: TV, turntable, computer, game console, streamer, network drive or phone.
  2. Mark which sources need HDMI ARC, optical, USB, phono, Ethernet or Bluetooth, and eliminate systems missing a connection you use every day.
  3. Measure the distance between the planned speaker positions. Include the supplied inter-speaker cable for DCB41 or AIO Twin, and confirm a power outlet at each Capella speaker.
  4. Compare the complete package: speakers, Capella hub where applicable, cables, stands, taxes, delivery and any required phono stage or streamer.
  5. Check the local retailer’s current price, stock, warranty and bundle contents. The cited figures are UK, US and Australian snapshots from 2026 and can change without notice.
  6. If adding a subwoofer, confirm the output and compatibility instructions before choosing a model.
  7. After installation, configure TV audio output, select the correct phono/line setting where applicable, update network software and set volume limits before serious listening.

Bottom line

Buy the ELAC Debut ConneX DCB41 for the lowest-cost, TV-friendly powered stereo setup; its missing native streaming is the key sacrifice. Buy the Triangle AIO Twin when Wi-Fi streaming and direct turntable support justify a higher budget, accepting a wired connection to the passive speaker. Choose the Triangle Capella 2 when you will use its separate hub, WiSA placement, HDMI ARC/CEC, extensive inputs, network platforms, DSP and room-calibration features enough to justify a reported price around $2,900 in the US and higher regional equivalents. None is universally best: the best alternative is the one whose missing feature will not become your next upgrade project.
