Best overall value: De’Longhi Magnifica Evo or Evo Next. It is the clearest lower-tier alternative for automatic cappuccinos and lattes, provided you choose an Evo/Evo Next trim with automatic milk rather than a Start model with a manual wand. Best menu breadth: Philips 5500 Series LatteGo, which documents hot and iced recipes. Best compact touchscreen option: De’Longhi Rivelia. Best premium consistency: Jura E8, although the reviewed US configuration was expensive and did not include a milk carafe.
The KitchenAid KF3 remains unusually capable: it combines automatic milk delivery, a hose that can draw from almost any container, a 2.4-inch color touchscreen and more than 15 hot and over-ice recipes. Its main weakness for iced-coffee fans is practical rather than theoretical: a TechRadar reviewer found the iced espresso stayed warm enough to melt ice quickly and dilute the drink. The alternatives below differ most in milk hardware, iced-drink recipes, interface, cleaning and package contents.
What the KitchenAid KF3 baseline includes
Choosing an alternative makes sense only after defining what you would be giving up. KitchenAid describes the KF3 as a bean-to-cup machine with more than 15 hot and over-ice recipes, adjustable strength, size and temperature, an adaptive built-in burr grinder, automatic milk preparation and Quiet Mark-certified grinding. Its milk hose can draw from any container, so you are not locked into a proprietary jug.

TechRadar lists a 1.8-liter water reservoir, an automatic milk frother, four user profiles and a 15-bar pump. In that review, dairy milk and barista-style oat milk produced good foam. However, the reviewer measured the iced espresso as warm enough to melt ice quickly, which can leave a diluted drink. That is a reviewer observation under that test, not a universal laboratory result for every KF3 or recipe.

- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
KitchenAid’s own product copy promises, “Get silky foam for your cappuccino or latte with just one touch.” The comparison therefore focuses on machines that can grind, brew and prepare milk with one command, not traditional espresso machines that require manual steaming.

De’Longhi Magnifica Evo or Evo Next: the value choice for automatic cappuccino
What you get
De’Longhi lists up to 13 one-touch coffee and milk-based drinks for the Magnifica Evo Next range. Milk-equipped versions use LatteCrema Hot Technology, while Magnifica Evo models advertise automatic frothing, freshly ground beans and dishwasher-safe removable parts. That combination addresses the two everyday requirements most KF3 shoppers have: pressing one button for a milk drink and avoiding a complicated cleaning routine.
Which trim to buy
Do not treat every Magnifica name as equivalent. Magnifica Start models may use a manual steam wand. If you want one-touch cappuccino or latte preparation, verify that the listing explicitly identifies an Evo or Evo Next model with the automatic milk hardware. The exact number of recipes and the included accessories can vary by trim and region, so the model number matters more than the family name.

Who should choose it
Choose the Evo/Evo Next when the priority is a lower purchase tier than premium machines, automatic milk drinks and removable parts that can go in a dishwasher. It is especially sensible for a household that mainly drinks espresso, cappuccino and latte rather than needing a large catalog of iced recipes. No current official product listing establishes a cold-extraction system, so do not assume that an “iced” button, if present on a particular listing, means brewing directly at a cold temperature.
Philips 5500 Series LatteGo: the menu specialist
Hot and iced recipes
Philips documents a LatteGo 5500 Series menu that includes cappuccino, flat white, iced latte and iced espresso. That is the clearest published fit here for someone who wants both conventional milk drinks and named iced recipes without switching to a separate brewing method. The presence of an iced recipe still does not prove that the machine performs cold extraction; confirm how the regional model describes its iced process if brew temperature is critical.

Controls and grinder
The 5500 Series provides adjustments for intensity, coffee volume, milk volume, temperature and grinder setting, with 12 grinder settings listed. Those controls let two people make different-strength drinks without changing beans or manually steaming milk. Philips’ published product information does not document user-profile storage, so do not count on profiles unless the specific regional listing says so.
Price and warranty checks
A Philips page displayed a price of $999.99 and a two-year warranty field. Treat the price as a time-sensitive listing value rather than a permanent MSRP, and verify the warranty terms for your country. The LatteGo container is designed as a straightforward milk module, but Philips’ published information does not establish its exact capacity, hose arrangement or dishwasher instructions; check the manual for the model code you are considering.
Who should choose it
Pick the 5500 when recipe breadth, named iced options and broad drink customization matter more than the smallest possible footprint. It is the strongest documented alternative for a household that regularly alternates between iced latte, iced espresso and hot milk drinks.
De’Longhi Rivelia: compact touchscreen convenience
Why it stands out
Tom’s Guide identifies the Rivelia as the best-value alternative in its Jura-versus-De’Longhi comparison for shoppers who want a modern superautomatic interface without moving into a premium configuration. Its strengths are an intuitive touchscreen, customizable strength and volume, an automatic milk system and a compact footprint.
What the published comparison does not establish
No universal drink count, water-tank capacity, grinder-setting count, user-profile limit or standard milk-carafe contents is stated for every Rivelia package. Those details can differ by country and generation. Before buying, open the exact retailer or manufacturer listing and confirm the model code, included milk hardware and cleaning instructions.

- Flawless 4K@60Hz Video with HDMI: Delivers exceptional clarity and smoothness with its 4K@60Hz HDMI port, making it ideal for high-definition presentations and entertainment. (Note: Only the HDMI port supports video projection; the USB-C port is for data transfer only.)
- Double Up on Efficiency: The two USB-A 3.0 ports and a USB-C port support a fast 5Gbps data rate, significantly boosting your transfer speeds and improving productivity.

Who should choose it
Rivelia is a good fit for a small kitchen where the interface and counter depth matter as much as the coffee. It suits users who want one-touch milk drinks and quick adjustments on screen but do not need the KF3’s documented 15-plus hot-and-over-ice recipe count. Because no current official product listing verifies a cold-extraction system, treat iced drinks as a model-specific question.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Jura E8: premium consistency
Why it is the premium pick
Tom’s Guide names the Jura E8 its choice for consistent one-touch espresso and milk drinks in a premium design. This is the option for buyers who prioritize finish and repeatability over the lowest price or the largest documented iced menu.
Check the bundle before paying
The reviewed US configuration was expensive and did not include a milk carafe. That means “one-touch milk drinks” may require purchasing the correct package or an additional compatible component. Never infer the accessories from photographs: verify whether the exact listing includes the carafe, tubing and any cleaning supplies.
Who should choose it
Choose the E8 when premium construction and consistent milk-and-espresso results are worth the added cost. It is a poor match if your non-negotiable requirement is an included milk carafe at the lowest possible price or a documented cold-brew process.
One-touch drinks: what the menus really tell you
Drink-count comparisons
Recipe counts are not directly interchangeable. The KF3’s “15+ hot and over-ice” figure includes both hot and over-ice selections. Magnifica Evo Next’s “up to 13” figure covers coffee and milk-based drinks. Philips names individual hot and iced recipes but does not present the same count in the cited material. Rivelia and Jura E8 are described by interface and drink capability rather than a comparable number.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
Use the count as a starting point, then check whether the drinks you actually make appear as dedicated buttons. A machine that lists cappuccino and flat white may still require a different workflow for iced latte; a named iced espresso recipe is more useful if iced coffee is a daily habit.
Over-ice is not necessarily cold extraction
“Over ice” can mean brewing a hot or warm coffee over a glass of ice. TechRadar’s KF3 test illustrates the consequence: the espresso was warm enough to melt ice rapidly and dilute the beverage. No current official product description establishes that any alternative uses true cold extraction. If you need a colder, less diluted result, compare the manufacturer’s brewing description, use a larger ice mass and chill the glass, or brew a concentrated shot and add fresh ice separately.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Milk hardware and cleaning
Hose versus carafe
The KF3’s hose can draw milk from any container, which is useful when you prefer a refrigerator carton or a separate stainless-steel jug. The Magnifica family uses automatic milk hardware on the appropriate Evo/Evo Next trims. Philips uses the LatteGo container system. Rivelia has an automatic milk system, while the reviewed US Jura E8 configuration did not include a carafe.
These arrangements trade convenience in different ways. A hose minimizes the number of containers you must fill but needs rinsing and safe storage. A dedicated carafe is tidy and repeatable but must be chilled, emptied and cleaned. A package without a carafe cannot deliver a milk drink one-touch until the missing component is supplied.

Daily cleaning expectations
Automatic milk does not mean maintenance-free milk. After a milk session, follow the model’s rinse cycle, remove milk-contact parts as directed and refrigerate or discard leftover milk. The Magnifica Evo documentation specifically advertises dishwasher-safe removable pieces, an advantage when you want a repeatable cleaning routine. For Philips, Rivelia and Jura, verify the exact manual’s cleaning sequence and whether the container, lid and tubing are dishwasher-safe; those details are not established uniformly in the available product information.

Water and grinder maintenance
KitchenAid and TechRadar state only the KF3’s 1.8-liter water-reservoir capacity. Capacities for the alternatives are not stated in their product listings, so a compact footprint does not automatically mean a smaller or larger tank. Philips lists 12 grinder settings; the other alternatives’ grinder-setting counts are not established here. Plan for regular water refills, bean replenishment and manufacturer-specified descaling regardless of brand.
Customization, profiles and kitchen fit
Adjusting the cup
The KF3 offers adjustable strength, size and temperature. Philips documents adjustments for intensity, coffee volume, milk volume, temperature and grinder setting. Rivelia is described as offering customizable strength and volume. Magnifica Evo/Evo Next listings emphasize customizable drink controls, while Tom’s Guide’s Jura comparison highlights one-touch consistency rather than a complete adjustment list.
Multiple users
TechRadar lists four user profiles for the KF3. Published product information does not confirm profile counts for the alternatives. If several people share the machine, confirm whether each user can save strength, volume and milk preferences or whether settings must be changed manually each time.

Rivelia is explicitly positioned as compact. The KF3 is notable for combining its features in a relatively narrow format, but an exact width is not provided here. Manufacturers do not state dimensions for Magnifica, Philips and Jura in the product information available for these models. Measure the available width, depth, overhead clearance and access to the water tank before ordering, especially if the machine sits under cabinets.
How to choose in five steps
- Decide whether iced coffee is essential. For the broadest documented hot-and-iced menu, start with Philips 5500 LatteGo. For any model, verify whether “iced” means a dedicated recipe or simply coffee poured over ice.
- Require automatic milk hardware. Exclude Magnifica Start listings with a manual wand if you want one-touch cappuccino. Confirm the exact Evo/Evo Next, Philips, Rivelia or Jura package and whether a carafe is included.
- Set your interface preference. Choose Rivelia for a compact touchscreen-led experience, KF3 for a 2.4-inch color touchscreen with four documented profiles, or Jura E8 for a premium design focused on consistency.
- Match maintenance to your routine. Magnifica Evo’s dishwasher-safe removable pieces are useful if that is a priority. For every milk system, read the model-specific rinse, disassembly and descaling instructions.
- Verify the live listing. Prices, discounts, regional availability, model generations, warranty terms and accessories change. Confirm the product code, water tank, milk components, included filters and current return policy before checkout.
Common buying mistakes and fixes
Buying the wrong Magnifica variant
Symptom: the machine arrives with a steam wand instead of automatic milk preparation. Fix: return to the model number and require an Evo or Evo Next milk-equipped specification; do not rely on a generic “Magnifica” title.
Assuming an iced button means cold coffee
Symptom: the drink rapidly melts ice and tastes weak. Fix: treat the recipe as over-ice unless the manufacturer explicitly describes cold extraction. Use a chilled glass, more ice or a concentrated shot poured over ice.
Missing milk hardware in the box
Symptom: a premium machine advertises milk drinks but the carafe is absent. Fix: check the package contents before purchase; the reviewed Jura E8 US configuration is a documented example where a milk carafe was not included.
Underestimating cleaning
Symptom: sour milk odor, blocked tubing or weak foam. Fix: run the post-drink rinse, remove and clean every milk-contact part, store milk safely and follow the scheduled cleaning cycle. Dishwasher-safe parts, where advertised, still need to be installed correctly after washing.
Quick Recap
Bottom-line recommendations
- Choose De’Longhi Magnifica Evo/Evo Next for the clearest value combination of automatic cappuccino and latte preparation, simple controls and dishwasher-safe removable parts.
- Choose Philips 5500 LatteGo if iced latte, iced espresso, flat white and cappuccino coverage is more important than having the smallest machine.
- Choose De’Longhi Rivelia for a compact footprint and touchscreen experience with automatic milk drinks.
- Choose Jura E8 for premium design and consistency, after confirming the price and milk-carafe contents in your region.
- Keep the KitchenAid KF3 on your shortlist if its four profiles, hose-from-any-container milk setup and 15-plus hot-and-over-ice menu fit your household; just temper expectations about how cold its iced espresso will be.
