The processor is described by the manufacturer as having 16 Zen 5 CPU cores, while the integrated graphics are listed with 40 compute units. Those are manufacturer specifications, not results from an independent workload test. They indicate the intended class of machine, but they do not predict how quickly a particular language model, image workflow or compilation job will run.
iBUYPOWER gives a starting price of $3,999 and says availability is planned for Q4 2026. “Starting” means the final price can change with memory, storage, operating-system or configuration choices. A product announcement also does not prove that units are shipping. Check the company’s current product page, a dated launch notice and the exact configuration before treating it as available.
Alternative 1: AMD Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform
AMD’s Ryzen AI Halo Developer Platform is the closest documented comparison because it uses the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495 and Radeon 8065S combination. AMD lists 192GB of LPDDR5x-8533 memory, 273GB/s of memory bandwidth and a 2TB M.2 SSD. The platform measures 150 × 150 × 45.4 mm, supports Linux or Windows 11, and includes 10Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4.
AMD specifies a 120W TDP and up to 61 TFLOPS of FP16 AI compute for this platform. These figures describe AMD’s reference developer computer, not the iBUYPOWER system. They should not be used as an indirect benchmark of the mini PC, whose cooling, power limits, firmware and storage configuration may differ.
Why the AMD platform is compelling
- More unified memory: 192GB gives larger models and GPU-heavy tools more addressable system memory than the iBUYPOWER announcement’s 128GB configuration.
- Faster documented memory: AMD lists LPDDR5x-8533 and 273GB/s bandwidth for the PRO 495 platform.
- Operating-system choice: Linux and Windows 11 are both listed, which matters for containerized inference, driver testing and development environments.
- Network and wireless connectivity: 10Gbps Ethernet, Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are explicitly documented.
- Developer targeting: AMD positions the platform as a reference environment for local AI software and hardware development.
What to verify before buying
The AMD page identifies a developer platform rather than a universal retail SKU. Confirm whether the unit you can order includes the stated 192GB memory and 2TB SSD, which operating system is preinstalled, what warranty applies in your region and whether the listed ports are present on the shipping revision. Do not assume that a similarly named Ryzen AI Halo product has the same memory or chassis.
Alternative 2: ASRock Industrial AI BOX-A395
ASRock Industrial documents the AI BOX-A395 as a compact system based on the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000 memory. Its catalog lists two M.2 Key M slots, 10GbE and 2.5GbE LAN, two USB4 ports, additional USB-C and USB-A ports, HDMI and DisplayPort outputs, and a 200 × 100 × 232 mm chassis.
This is a different processor configuration from the PRO 495 systems. The catalog establishes the hardware design and interfaces, but not a retail price, current inventory or comparative AI performance. The larger chassis may be attractive where expansion, dual-network connectivity or multiple displays matter more than minimum volume.

- Networked workloads: simultaneous 10GbE and 2.5GbE interfaces can simplify separation of storage, management or production traffic.
- Local storage expansion: two documented M.2 Key M slots provide more flexibility than a single-drive design, subject to the final drive and thermal configuration.
- Lab and edge deployment: the published USB, display and LAN selection suits test benches, kiosks and small servers that need several attached devices.
- Memory-matched comparison: its documented 128GB capacity makes it a more direct capacity comparison with the iBUYPOWER announcement than the 192GB AMD platform.

Which mini PC can run AI models locally?
All three systems are aimed at local AI, but “can run a model” is not the same as “runs every model quickly.” Local inference depends on model parameter count, quantization, context length, batch size, memory allocation, software support and sustained cooling.

AMD says Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Series processors can support up to 192GB of system memory and 160GB of VRAM. In its launch announcement, AMD describes running models with 300 billion parameters locally; the footnote limits that claim to the PRO 495 with up to 160GB of dedicated graphics memory at 4-bit quantization, as of May 11, 2026. This is a vendor capability statement, not a guarantee that every 300-billion-parameter model will fit, load quickly or deliver useful interactive speed.
For practical selection, memory is usually the first filter. A model’s weights, runtime overhead, context cache and application processes all consume memory. More unified memory can let the processor and integrated GPU share a larger model, while a smaller 128GB system may require more aggressive quantization, shorter context or a smaller model. Storage matters next: model files can occupy tens or hundreds of gigabytes, so a 2TB drive or an expandable configuration should be evaluated against the model library you intend to keep locally.
Software listed for the AMD platform
AMD identifies PyTorch, vLLM, llama.cpp, Ollama, ComfyUI and LM Studio among the local-development software supported for its developer platform. These are compatibility targets and ecosystem examples, not independent benchmarks. Before deployment, check the current framework release, operating-system support, GPU backend, memory requirements and any model-specific limitations.

AMD’s user guide separates two configurations. RAH-001 uses Ryzen AI Max+ 395, 128GB of LPDDR5x-8000 memory, 256GB/s bandwidth, Radeon 8060S graphics and a 50 TOPS NPU. RAH-002 uses Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495, 192GB of LPDDR5x-8533 memory, 273GB/s bandwidth, Radeon 8065S graphics and a 55 TOPS NPU.
RAH-001 and RAH-002 are platform configurations, not evidence that the iBUYPOWER chassis contains either one unchanged. In particular, do not copy the AMD platform’s 192GB capacity, 273GB/s bandwidth or 150 × 150 × 45.4 mm dimensions into an iBUYPOWER listing. Use the specifications attached to the exact system being sold.
Availability and timing: what buyers should check
AMD announced that an initial Ryzen AI Halo platform based on the Max+ 395 would be available through Micro Center, with preorder timing in June 2026. AMD also said OEMs including HP and Lenovo were expected to offer Ryzen AI Max PRO 400 Series systems in Q3 2026. Those statements describe AMD’s announcement; they do not prove current stock, final configurations or a particular retailer’s shipping date.
For the iBUYPOWER model, the decisive question is whether the Q4 2026 plan became a shipment. Before paying, verify:

How to choose by workload
Choose the AMD developer platform for memory-heavy experimentation
Select AMD’s platform when 192GB of unified memory, Linux or Windows choice, 10Gbps networking and the documented developer ecosystem are more important than buying a known retail configuration. It is the strongest paper choice for large local models among the documented systems because it has the greatest stated memory capacity. That is a specification-based decision, not a benchmark verdict.

Wait for a live listing and compare the final memory and storage price against the AMD platform before deciding that its $3,999 starting price is better value.
Questions to ask before ordering
- Is the memory soldered, and can the capacity be changed later?
- How many M.2 slots are populated, and is the advertised maximum storage a factory option or a user upgrade?
- What sustained power limit and cooling solution are used under long AI workloads?
- Are GPU memory allocation controls exposed in firmware or the operating system?
- Which Linux distribution, kernel, graphics stack or container runtime is supported if you choose Linux?
- Does the warranty cover self-installed storage?
- What ports, wireless standard and network speed are present on the exact shipping revision?
These questions matter because integrated graphics and NPUs share a compact system’s power, memory and thermal budget. Published TOPS or FP16 figures describe capability ceilings; they do not answer how a particular workload behaves after an hour of continuous inference.
