LG StanbyME 2 is the closest documented current alternative to Samsung The Sero. It supports landscape and portrait orientations, can mirror or cast from phones across Apple and Android ecosystems, and has a detachable battery-powered screen on a movable stand. The 27-inch version is a 2,560 × 1,440 QHD display with a 60Hz refresh rate; the 32-inch StanbyME 2 Max is 4K and is listed with a 4.5-hour battery.
Samsung MovingStyle is the more natural choice for Galaxy owners who value Smart View and a wheeled form factor, but Samsung’s available setup documentation confirms mobile and PC mirroring—not automatic portrait rotation. A conventional premium OLED can deliver a better film or gaming picture, yet it does not automatically replace The Sero’s defining combination of a physically rotating panel and portrait phone mirroring.
What makes Samsung The Sero difficult to replace
The Sero is not simply a small television on a stand. Its panel physically rotates between conventional landscape and vertical portrait orientation, and Samsung says mirrored content follows the phone’s orientation. That matters for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, portrait photographs, mobile games and phone apps that otherwise appear as a narrow image centered inside a wide screen.
Samsung’s support workflow combines SmartThings setup with Smart View and Tap View sharing. Tap View is designed for a quick connection: Samsung describes tapping the corner of a phone on The Sero to mirror the phone’s screen. RTINGS also describes the set as using a rotating IPS panel for mirrored apps, games and media. Those capabilities—not a particular diagonal size or television tuner—are the feature to match when you shop for an alternative.

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)

LG StanbyME 2: the closest feature match
Portrait and landscape operation
LG’s US announcement on July 29, 2025 says StanbyME 2 supports both landscape and portrait orientations and uses a detachable screen. That makes it a direct fit for a reader who wants a screen that can be turned upright for vertical video rather than merely displaying a portrait feed with unused space at the sides.
The detachable design is useful when the screen needs to leave its stand. You can position it near a sofa, kitchen counter or bedside area, then return it to the wheeled stand for another room. The available documentation establishes the two orientations and detachable construction; it does not establish a specific rotation time, an automatic sensor behavior or a particular maximum viewing angle, so those details should not be assumed.

27-inch StanbyME 2 specifications
LG’s current product information lists the 27-inch model as QHD, with a 2,560 × 1,440 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. QHD gives portrait phone video more vertical pixels than a basic Full HD panel while keeping the screen substantially smaller and easier to move than a conventional living-room television.
LG also lists TV mirroring, AirPlay 2, Google Cast and webOS. AirPlay 2 provides the relevant path for compatible iPhones, iPads and Macs; Google Cast covers compatible Android apps and devices. Because these are separate sharing systems, the exact control you see depends on the phone, app and network rather than on a single universal “mirror” button.
32-inch StanbyME 2 Max
LG’s product information identifies the 32-inch StanbyME 2 Max as a 4K model with a 4.5-hour battery. Choose it when a larger image and higher resolution matter more than the 27-inch model’s smaller footprint. The available specifications do not establish a refresh rate for the 32-inch model, so do not infer that it matches the 27-inch version’s 60Hz figure.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
Battery and external charging
The 27-inch launch announcement promises up to four hours of continuous video playback from the built-in battery. “Up to” is a best-case allowance rather than a guaranteed runtime for every brightness level, app or wireless connection. LG lists 4.5 hours for the 32-inch StanbyME 2 Max in current product information.

A lower-wattage phone charger may fail to charge the display or may not keep it running while you watch. Check the output rating printed on the charger or power bank, not only the USB-C connector shape.
Who should choose it
- Choose the 27-inch model if portrait phone video, a manageable size and cross-platform casting are your main priorities.
- Choose the 32-inch Max if you want a larger 4K canvas and can accept a bigger portable display.
- Choose either model over a standard television when moving the screen and using it away from a wall outlet are part of the plan.
- Do not buy it solely for a stated runtime if your use involves maximum brightness, demanding apps or continuous wireless streaming; the published figures are “up to” or listed battery capacities, not a universal endurance test.
Samsung MovingStyle: the Samsung-ecosystem alternative
Samsung’s setup guide says MovingStyle can mirror mobile devices and PCs. It also supports wireless casting when the display and source device share a network, and Galaxy owners can use Smart View. This makes it attractive if your household already relies on Samsung phones, tablets or Windows PCs and you want a familiar sharing workflow.
The important qualification is portrait behavior. The retrieved official guide does not document automatic portrait rotation, so MovingStyle should be described as a movable mirroring display—not as a confirmed The Sero replacement with a rotating panel. It may show a portrait feed sent by an app or phone, but that is different from hardware that turns the entire screen upright. Confirm the exact regional model’s physical movement and screen controls before purchase if vertical viewing is non-negotiable.
When MovingStyle is the better fit
- You primarily mirror Galaxy phones through Smart View.
- You want mobile and PC sharing on a movable display and can live without confirmed automatic rotation.
- You prefer staying within Samsung’s device ecosystem and do not need documented AirPlay 2 or Google Cast support.
When it is the wrong substitute
Do not choose MovingStyle on the assumption that its stand or software will reproduce The Sero’s upright-screen experience. If the goal is a full-screen vertical TikTok or Shorts view, require written confirmation of physical portrait rotation for the exact model and region.
Conventional premium TVs: better picture, different job
A conventional premium OLED or QLED can be the smarter purchase when your main activities are films, console gaming and dark-room viewing. RTINGS reports that the LG CX OLED is significantly better than The Sero for picture quality and gaming. That comparison highlights the trade-off: The Sero’s IPS panel and portrait design serve a different purpose from a large, contrast-focused home-cinema display.

These televisions are normally installed in landscape orientation. The evidence available here does not show a conventional OLED or QLED reproducing The Sero’s automatic vertical-phone experience, so treat casting support and portrait handling as separate questions. A television can accept a portrait video signal while still leaving it inside a wide, fixed panel.
Choose a premium TV when
- Black levels, cinematic contrast and gaming responsiveness matter more than moving the screen.
- The display will stay in one room and remain connected to mains power.
- Portrait video is occasional and letterboxing is acceptable.
Compare the features that actually determine the experience
Physical rotation versus a portrait image
Ask whether the panel itself rotates. A physically upright screen uses more of the available area for a vertical phone feed and keeps the interface orientation natural. A fixed landscape screen may receive the same signal but display it as a narrow column with unused space on either side.
Mirroring and casting standards
AirPlay 2 is relevant to Apple devices, Google Cast to compatible Android apps and devices, and Smart View to Galaxy phones. Tap View is Samsung’s near-field mirroring method for The Sero. Mirroring duplicates the phone screen; casting lets a supported app hand playback to the display and can behave differently when you lock or use the phone. Check both the phone platform and the apps you use before assuming that one standard covers everything.

Mobility and power
A wheeled stand helps reposition a display but does not automatically mean it has a battery. StanbyME 2’s detachable screen and stated battery runtimes make it the clearest portable option in the documented group. For a display that will spend time outdoors, in a kitchen or away from outlets, include charger wattage and runtime in the decision rather than comparing screen size alone.
Image and sound priorities
The documented StanbyME 2 figures establish resolution and refresh rate for the 27-inch model and 4K resolution for the 32-inch Max. They do not establish HDR formats, peak brightness, contrast measurements or speaker power, so those should be verified on the regional specification page if they matter to you. The Sero’s IPS panel and portrait-first design should not be judged by the same criteria as a premium OLED purchased for dark-room film performance.
How to mirror a phone in portrait orientation
The exact labels vary by operating-system version, app and regional firmware. Use the display’s current on-screen instructions, and keep the phone and display on the same wireless network when the method requires network casting.

iPhone or iPad with StanbyME 2
- Connect the iPhone or iPad and StanbyME 2 to the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open Control Center on the Apple device and select Screen Mirroring, then choose StanbyME 2 if it appears.
- For supported apps, use the app’s AirPlay button instead of duplicating the entire screen.
- Turn the phone upright and enable rotation lock only if you want to prevent the phone from changing orientation; the displayed result depends on whether the app supports portrait layout.
AirPlay 2 is listed by LG as a supported feature. If the display does not appear, check that both devices are on the same network, that AirPlay is enabled on the display and that a guest network is not isolating the devices.
Android phone with StanbyME 2
- Put the Android phone and display on the same Wi-Fi network.
- Open a compatible app and select its Cast control, then choose StanbyME 2.
- For full-screen duplication, use the phone’s system casting or screen-sharing control if your Android manufacturer provides one.
- Rotate the phone to portrait and verify that the app sends a portrait layout rather than a cropped landscape frame.
LG lists Google Cast and TV mirroring. Google Cast availability can differ by app: a Cast button may hand playback to the display, while system-level mirroring duplicates the entire phone interface.
Galaxy phone with Samsung MovingStyle
- Connect the Galaxy phone and MovingStyle to the same network for wireless casting.
- Open the phone’s Quick Panel and select Smart View.
- Choose MovingStyle and approve the connection on the display if prompted.
- Rotate the phone and test the app you actually intend to use; the official setup material confirms mirroring, not automatic physical portrait rotation.
Samsung Tap View on The Sero
Samsung’s support instructions describe tapping the corner of the phone on The Sero to mirror the phone’s screen. This is a convenience feature for compatible Samsung devices and does not establish that another display supports the same near-field action.

Price, availability and regional checks
LG announced a US starting price of $1,299.99 for StanbyME 2 in July 2025. That is a launch price, not a permanent worldwide price. Promotions, retailer inventory, taxes, shipping and regional model numbers can change the amount you pay.
The cited material does not establish a universal current price for MovingStyle, The Sero or conventional premium televisions. Compare the exact screen size and model suffix sold in your country rather than assuming that a similarly named product has identical hardware. Battery claims and included accessories can also vary by model.
Common pitfalls and fixes
Buying a fixed landscape TV for portrait content
A phone can send a portrait signal to many televisions, but that does not make the television a portrait display. If the screen cannot physically rotate, expect side borders or a cropped composition. Require explicit rotation documentation when that is a core requirement.

Assuming every mirroring method works on every phone
AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Smart View and Tap View are different ecosystems and connection methods. Confirm the source devices in your household and the apps you use. A display that works well with a Galaxy phone may not offer the same workflow for an iPhone, and vice versa.
Using an underpowered USB-C battery
StanbyME 2 requires a USB-C charger or power bank rated at 65W or higher for external charging according to LG. Check wattage before a trip; a power bank that is large in capacity but low in output may not meet the requirement.
Treating advertised runtime as a guarantee
“Up to four hours” for the 27-inch model and 4.5 hours listed for the 32-inch Max do not describe every brightness, wireless or playback condition. Plan for shorter sessions when streaming continuously or using demanding applications.

A premium OLED may outperform a portable portrait display for dark-room movies and gaming, while the portable display may be the better tool for vertical phone media. Decide whether the screen is primarily a television, a phone companion or a movable second display before comparing panel technologies.
Pre-purchase checklist
- Rotation: Is physical portrait orientation documented for the exact model?
- Phone platform: Do you need AirPlay 2, Google Cast, Smart View, Tap View or more than one?
- App behavior: Will your main social, video and gaming apps cast or mirror in portrait?
- Size: Is a 27-inch QHD screen sufficient, or is the 32-inch 4K Max worth the larger footprint?
- Power: How long must the display run away from an outlet, and do you own a USB-C source rated at least 65W?
- Placement: Will you move the screen on its stand, detach it, or keep it in one room?
- Picture priorities: Are you buying for vertical phone content or for cinematic contrast and gaming?
- Region: Have you checked local stock, current pricing, model suffixes and included accessories?
Bottom line
For a current, documented replacement that behaves most like The Sero, start with LG StanbyME 2. It is the only option in this comparison with documented portrait and landscape use, cross-platform sharing through AirPlay 2 and Google Cast, a detachable screen and a built-in battery. The 27-inch model is the balanced choice; the 32-inch StanbyME 2 Max adds 4K resolution and a listed 4.5-hour battery.
Choose Samsung MovingStyle when Galaxy integration and Smart View matter more than confirmed upright rotation. Choose a conventional premium OLED or QLED when picture quality and gaming are the priority and portrait viewing is incidental.
