Google Pixel’s At a Glance is the closest built-in alternative to Samsung Now Brief. It puts contextual information on the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display without requiring a separate daily-planning app. If you want a broader, cross-app planning summary, Gemini Daily Brief is more capable, but Google limits it by country, age, language, account type and rollout status. Motorola’s Moto AI Catch me up is useful for one narrower job: summarizing unread notifications and recent missed calls.
There is no universal replacement with confirmed feature-for-feature parity. The right choice depends on whether you value glanceable cards, a proactive planning digest or a notification catch-up.
What Samsung Now Brief actually does
Samsung describes Now Brief as a feature that “organizes insights and updates about your day in short, efficient briefs.” It is a Galaxy AI briefing surface rather than a conventional calendar app or a single widget.

Depending on the supported Galaxy device, software version, selected categories and connected Samsung services, it can bring together:
#1 Best Overall
- Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
- Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
- Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
- Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]
- Calendar events and schedule reminders
- News headlines
- Daily activity, health and wellness information
- Travel information
- Phone-setting suggestions
- Memories, music and podcasts
- Smart-home updates
Samsung’s support material says users can select categories and that some content requires an internet connection or particular Samsung apps. Availability is limited to selected devices and software versions, so a Galaxy phone does not automatically guarantee access to every Now Brief component.
That mix creates three separate jobs that alternatives handle differently: showing context at a glance, assembling a cross-app plan and condensing a backlog of notifications. Comparing products by name alone can therefore be misleading.
Quick comparison
| Feature | Pixel At a Glance | Gemini Daily Brief | Moto AI Catch me up |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary purpose | Contextual information surfaced where you already look | Proactive personalized overview and planning digest | Summary of unread notifications and recent missed calls |
| Information sources | Contextual Pixel information; the cited documentation does not establish parity with every Now Brief category | Connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Gemini chats | Unread notifications from supported messaging apps and missed calls received in the previous 24 hours |
| Where it appears | Lock screen, home screen and Always On Display | Gemini mobile, web and Live surfaces for eligible users | Moto AI experience, on demand |
| Output style | Contextual cards or glanceable information | Daily, proactive sections named “Top of mind” and “Looking ahead” | On-demand notification catch-up |
| Account or permission needs | Pixel device and the relevant device permissions | Personal Google Account, age 18 or older, Google Workspace connected and Memory enabled | Compatible Motorola phone with Moto AI and access to the notifications being summarized |
| Documented availability limits | Pixel-specific; exact model and regional coverage can vary | Gradual release; United States, English-only documentation, eligible personal accounts | Motorola model and software dependent; supported apps and notification types only |
| Closest match to Now Brief | Integrated, glanceable surface | Cross-app daily planning | Unread-message and missed-call recap |
The official material does not establish a comparative accuracy score, universal availability or a numerical winner. Treat the table as a fit guide, not a benchmark.

One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware match1. Google Pixel At a Glance: the closest built-in replacement
Choose At a Glance when your priority is seeing useful context without opening an app. Google places it on the Pixel lock screen, home screen and Always On Display, so it occupies the same “look at the phone and know what matters” role that makes Now Brief attractive.
Why it is the best match
- It is integrated into the phone surface. You do not have to launch a planner to see the information Google chooses to surface.
- It is available in more than one glance location. Lock-screen, home-screen and Always On Display placement reduces the need to search for the feature.
- It fits a low-effort routine. People who want reminders and context while checking the time will find this closer to Now Brief than a chat-based assistant.
Where it differs from Now Brief
At a Glance is a contextual information surface, not a documented reproduction of Samsung’s category selector. Google’s Pixel documentation does not establish that it combines every Now Brief area, such as health and wellness, travel, memories, podcasts or smart-home updates, in one equivalent briefing.
Rank #2
- Google Pixel 10a is a durable, everyday phone with more[1]; snap brilliant photography on a simple, powerful camera, get 30+ hours out of a full charge[2], and do more with helpful AI like Gemini[3]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan; it works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel 10a is sleek and durable, with a super smooth finish, scratch-resistant Corning Gorilla Glass 7i display, and IP68 water and dust protection[4]
- The Actua display with 3,000-nit peak brightness shows up clear as day, even in direct sunlight[5]
- Plan, create, and get more done with help from Gemini, your built-in AI assistant[3]; have it screen spam calls while you focus[6]; chat with Gemini to brainstorm your meal plan[7], or bring your ideas to life with Nano Banana[8]
It is therefore a strong physical-product recommendation for an integrated Android experience, but not proof that a Pixel phone will duplicate a particular Galaxy owner’s daily cards.
How to use it
- Use a supported Pixel phone and check the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display for the At a Glance surface.
- Allow the device permissions needed for the contextual information you want surfaced. The exact controls can vary by Pixel model and Android release.
- When a card appears, act on it from the surfaced item or open the associated Google service for details.
- If a specific Now Brief category is essential, verify that Pixel exposes an equivalent card before switching phones; At a Glance should not be assumed to cover every Samsung category.
2. Gemini Daily Brief: best for cross-app planning
Gemini Daily Brief is the strongest alternative when “briefing” means a personalized digest assembled from several services rather than a card on the lock screen. Google describes it as a proactive, personalized overview in Gemini Apps.
What it summarizes
The documented sources are connected Gmail, Google Calendar and Gemini chats. Its output is split into two main sections:
- Top of mind: timely, actionable items that need attention.
- Looking ahead: longer-term goals and suggested next steps.
This makes Gemini more action-oriented than At a Glance. It can connect messages, calendar commitments and prior Gemini conversations into a planning-oriented view, whereas At a Glance is designed to surface context where you are already looking.
Eligibility and rollout limits
Google says access is being released gradually. Its documented requirements include all of the following:
- You must be 18 or older.
- You must be in the United States.
- You must use a personal Google Account.
- Google Workspace must be connected.
- Memory must be enabled.
- The feature is currently English-only in the documented availability.
Eligible users may encounter Daily Brief in Gemini on mobile, on the web or in Live surfaces. Seeing Gemini on an Android phone does not, by itself, establish that Daily Brief is available to your account.
How to set it up when offered
- Open Gemini on a supported mobile, web or Live surface and sign in with a personal Google Account.
- Confirm that your account meets the age and United States availability requirements.
- Connect Google Workspace when Gemini presents the connection flow.
- Enable Memory so Gemini can use the documented personalization capability.
- Open the Daily Brief setup or briefing entry when it appears and review which connected information is included.
- Review each summary before acting on it, particularly when an item combines email, calendar details or a suggested next step.
Menu labels can change while Google expands the feature. If the Daily Brief entry is absent, the likely explanation is eligibility or rollout rather than a missing Android setting.
Trade-offs
- Broader planning: Gmail, Calendar and Gemini chats provide more cross-app context than a simple lock-screen surface.
- More account dependency: The experience depends on a personal Google Account, connected Workspace data and Memory.
- Less universal access: United States, English-only and gradual-release restrictions make it unsuitable as a guaranteed recommendation for every Android owner.
- Different interaction model: It is a Gemini experience on mobile, web and Live, not a documented Always On Display replacement.
3. Motorola Moto AI Catch me up: best for notification backlog
Motorola’s Catch me up addresses a narrower problem: finding out what arrived while you were away from the phone. Motorola says it summarizes unread notifications from supported messaging apps and missed calls received during the previous 24 hours.
What it includes
- Unread notifications from supported messaging apps
- Missed calls received within the last 24 hours
Motorola also documents other Moto AI organization experiences, including meeting recording and transcription, saving screenshots or notes for later recall, and phone or web search. Those tools are related organization features, but they are not part of Catch me up’s notification summary.
What it excludes
The detailed support description says silent notifications are excluded. It also excludes certain video calls, VoIP calls and Wi-Fi calls. A summary can therefore be incomplete even when notifications are present on the phone.

- Google Pixel 10 Pro is the ultimate Pixel experience, featuring advanced AI with Gemini, unbelievable camera quality, impeccable design in two sizes, and the next-gen Google Tensor G5 chip[1]
- Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; it works - Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[11]
- Pixel’s pro camera system makes everything look amazing, even in low light; capture more of the scene with advanced Google AI models, and bring out incredible details with 100x Pro Res Zoom, stunning 50 MP images, and super steady videos in 8K[10]
- Pixel 10 Pro is built with durable aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for scratch and drop resistance; the 6.3-inch Super Actua display with 3,300-nit peak brightness is easy on the eyes, even in direct sunlight[3,13,18]
How to use it
- On a compatible Motorola phone, open the Moto AI experience and choose Catch me up when the option is available.
- Grant notification access only if the phone requests it and review which apps are included.
- Run the summary after being away from the phone; it is designed for unread items and the previous 24-hour missed-call window.
- Check the original notification or conversation before replying, especially when the source was a call type or app that may be excluded or only partially supported.
Why it is not a full Now Brief replacement
Catch me up is a notification-recap tool, not a documented daily planner combining calendar, travel, health, news, memories, music and smart-home categories. Choose it when unread communication is the main pain point. Choose At a Glance or Gemini Daily Brief when you want broader context or forward-looking planning.
Which alternative should you choose?
Choose Pixel At a Glance if you want information without opening an app
This is the clearest choice for a reader who wants an Android phone that surfaces useful context on the lock screen, home screen and Always On Display. It is also the most direct answer to “Does Google Pixel have something like Now Brief?” Yes, At a Glance fills a similar glanceable role, but it should not be described as feature-for-feature parity.
Choose Gemini Daily Brief if planning matters more than lock-screen access
Gemini is the better conceptual fit for people who want email, calendar and Gemini conversations turned into “what needs attention” and “what comes next.” Verify eligibility first: the documented United States, English-only, personal-account, age and gradual-rollout requirements are decisive.
Choose Moto AI Catch me up if you mainly miss messages
Motorola’s tool is a practical choice for someone returning to a phone with a large unread-notification queue. Its 24-hour window and exclusions mean it should be treated as a recap, not a complete communications archive or a daily life briefing.
Choose by your current phone
| Your situation | Most suitable option | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| You are buying or already use a Pixel | At a Glance | It is the native, glanceable Pixel surface. |
| You use Google services and meet Gemini’s requirements | Gemini Daily Brief | It combines Gmail, Calendar and Gemini chats for planning. |
| You use a compatible Motorola phone and return to many unread alerts | Moto AI Catch me up | It targets unread notifications and recent missed calls. |
| You need Samsung-specific categories such as health, travel or smart-home information in one briefing | Verify before switching | No cited alternative establishes complete Now Brief category parity. |
Availability, privacy and account considerations
Device and software availability
Now Brief itself is limited to selected Galaxy devices and software versions. Pixel At a Glance is tied to Pixel hardware, and the exact behavior can vary by model and Android release. Moto AI features depend on a compatible Motorola model and software. Gemini Daily Brief is additionally constrained by account, country, language and staged rollout.
Best Value
- Google Pixel 7 is powered by Google Tensor G2; it’s faster, more efficient, and more secure, with the best photo and video quality yet on Pixel[1].Other camera description:Front,Rear.Bluetooth Version 5.2 with dual antennas for enhanced quality and connection.
- Unlocked Android 5G phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan[2]; works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers
- Pixel’s Adaptive Battery can last over 24 hours; when Extreme Battery Saver is turned on, it can last up to 72 hours[3]
- The 6.3-inch Pixel 7 display is super sharp, with rich, vivid colors; it’s fast and responsive for smoother gaming, scrolling, and moving between apps[4]
- Google Pixel 7 has wide and ultrawide lenses with up to 8x Super Res Zoom[5]; and Cinematic Blur brings more drama to your videos
Before changing phones, check the exact model and region rather than relying on a feature name in a store listing. A feature can be present in documentation while unavailable on a particular handset, account or software build.
Connected data and permissions
Each alternative has a different data boundary. At a Glance uses device-level context and permissions. Gemini Daily Brief explicitly depends on connected Gmail, Google Calendar, Gemini chats, Google Workspace and enabled Memory. Catch me up needs access to the notifications it summarizes and is limited by notification type.
Review connected accounts and notification access during setup. Disable a connection you do not need, and use the original email, calendar entry, message or call record when a summary omits important context.
Recommended Free Tools
Do these tools replace a calendar or notification history?
No. They are briefing layers. A surfaced card or generated summary is a convenience view; it is not a complete record of every event, message, call or category on the phone. Keep the underlying Google, Samsung or Motorola app available for full details.
Can you get a daily briefing without a Samsung Galaxy phone?
Yes, but the experience depends on the Android phone and the services you use. A Pixel provides the closest native glanceable surface through At a Glance. Gemini Daily Brief can provide a more deliberate daily planning digest for eligible users, including on the web, but its documented rollout is restricted. A compatible Motorola phone can summarize unread communication through Catch me up, although that is not a full daily briefing.
There is no cited official source establishing a non-Samsung feature that universally combines all of Now Brief’s documented categories. Select the alternative according to the information you actually need, then confirm model, country, language and account eligibility before purchase or setup.
Quick Recap
Practical checklist before switching
- Write down the Now Brief categories you genuinely use: schedule, news, travel, health, memories, music, smart home or notifications.
- Mark each category as essential, useful or irrelevant.
- For Pixel, verify that At a Glance covers the essential glanceable information you need.
- For Gemini, verify United States availability, English support, age eligibility, personal-account status, Workspace connection and Memory.
- For Motorola, verify that your messaging apps and call types are supported and that the 24-hour recap fits your routine.
- Check where you want the result to appear: lock screen, home screen, Always On Display, Gemini surface or on-demand Moto AI.
- Review account and notification permissions, then test the result with real calendar events, messages or calls before depending on it.
