For collectors who want a guaranteed design, the best alternative is a Pokémon Center × Bear Walker board featuring a named character. The 2026 Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Gyarados Lake of Rage boards, the 2024 Charizard cruiser, and the 2023 Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu decks all replace blind-bag uncertainty with identified artwork and documented collector features. The product page describes the contents as “Each sealed blind bag will contain one 8" x 31.6" randomly assorted variant skateboard.” Every bag also includes a limited-edition Pokémon Player’s Guide booklet showing all 30 regular designs and the three chase variants.

These decks can be ridden after wheels are attached, according to independent coverage, but many buyers treat them as wall art. A blind bag creates two kinds of uncertainty: you cannot select the character or card before opening it, and buying more than one can produce duplicates. Charizard cruiser (2024)
The Charizard edition is a 29-inch handcrafted maple cruiser. Its listed package includes milled grip, orange translucent wheels, trucks and wall mounts. Each board has a unique board number recorded on a card signed by Bear Walker.
This is the strongest choice when the board will spend most of its life on a wall. Wall mounts remove the need to improvise a display system, and the number card gives the owner a specific identity for insurance or collection records. The 29-inch length is shorter than the 8 × 31.6-inch Santa Cruz deck, but it still needs a clear section of wall and enough clearance around the trucks or hardware.

Because it was released in 2024, an official listing may show a sold-out state even when the design remains visible. A secondary-market listing is not equivalent to an original retail purchase: inspect photos for the numbered card, mounts, finish and signs of drilling or impact before treating it as complete.
Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu decks (2023 UK)
Pokémon Center UK released individual Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu designs in 2023. Each design was limited to 250 decks, and the retailer stated that the decks would never be remade. They are individually numbered.
The statement “These decks will never be remade, meaning they are true collector’s items” is unusually explicit language about the production plan. It does not guarantee a particular resale price, but it does give a collector a clear edition boundary. Since this was a UK release, buyers elsewhere should confirm shipping eligibility, taxes and whether a listing is an original regional product.

Select this series when the evolution-line theme is more important than a single chase character. Buying one known design is also easier to budget than opening multiple blind bags in the hope of completing a trio.

Pancham, Pyukumuku and Snom series (2021)
The 2021 Bear Walker series used textured surfaces and matching wheels and trucks. The boards were designed to work as rideable objects or as display pieces. The tactile finish is a meaningful distinction from a flat printed deck: light and viewing angle can reveal the surface treatment even when the board is mounted.
Edition details and current stock vary by design. Treat any claim about remaining inventory as time-sensitive, and ask a seller for photographs of the actual board, hardware and packaging rather than relying on a stock image.
Closest format match: Santa Cruz × Pokémon TCG blind-bag decks
If the appeal is specifically the opening ritual, randomized card art and the possibility of a chase variant, the Santa Cruz 2026 series is the most direct alternative because it keeps those mechanics. It is not a solution for design certainty.

How it differs from a Bear Walker board
The Santa Cruz deck is a standardized 8 × 31.6-inch format with randomized card art. Bear Walker boards are identified designs with handcrafted or specialty finishes and, on several editions, certificates, numbering or included display hardware. Santa Cruz documents the scarcity of its three gold variants, while Bear Walker examples document scarcity at the board or design level. Neither type should be treated as an investment: no authoritative return or market-performance statistic establishes future value.
When a non-skateboard Pokémon collectible is the better choice
A deck can be a poor fit when wall space, shipping risk or budget is more important than the skateboard shape. Pokémon Center’s official merchandise range also includes Pokémon TCG cards, plush, clothing and LEGO Pokémon sets. These categories let you select a character or set more predictably and generally take less space in a case or storage bin.
Choose trading cards for compact, set-based collecting
Cards preserve the TCG connection without requiring a 31.6-inch wall span. You can organize by expansion, Pokémon, rarity or artwork and keep duplicates in binders or protective storage. The trade-off is that card condition is highly sensitive to handling, centering and storage, whereas a display deck is usually judged more by finish and presentation.
Choose plush or clothing for character-first collecting
Plush and apparel make sense when the character matters more than an art-object format. They are easier to rotate seasonally and easier to replace if a display item is damaged. They do not provide the same numbered-board or certificate features found on some Bear Walker editions.

How to choose the right alternative
- Decide whether randomness is a feature. If opening a sealed bag is the main enjoyment, select the Santa Cruz TCG series and accept duplicate risk. If you already know which Pokémon you want, start with a named Bear Walker design.
- Set the display location before ordering. Measure the usable wall or shelf area. The Santa Cruz format is 8 × 31.6 inches; the Charizard cruiser is 29 inches. Leave room for mounts, trucks and viewing clearance.
- Choose the artwork language. Santa Cruz uses Pokémon TCG card art. Bear Walker editions use carved wood, textured surfaces, painted character treatments or iridescent foil, depending on the release.
- Match the hardware to your use. The Lake of Rage Magikarp cruiser includes matching wheels and trucks. Charizard includes wheels, trucks and wall mounts. Other editions may be primarily display pieces, so verify the box contents.
- Look for provenance. Certificates of authenticity, a signed numbered card or an individually numbered deck provide stronger documentation than an unverified loose board.
- Check regional and time-sensitive availability. The Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu release was UK-specific, older editions may be sold out, and 2026 stock can change after launch. Confirm the seller, region, condition and included accessories.
- Budget for complete ownership. Include shipping, taxes, a safe mounting method, protective packaging and possible replacement hardware. Current prices and resale values are not fixed by the edition size.
Displaying a collectible skateboard safely
Use a mount rated for the board’s weight
Use a purpose-built skateboard wall mount or another hardware system whose weight rating exceeds the fully assembled board. The Charizard package includes wall mounts, but a replacement or a different board still needs a compatible mounting solution. Follow the mount manufacturer’s instructions and fasten it to structural material appropriate for the wall, not only to weak drywall anchors.
Protect the finish
- Keep the board out of direct sunlight, which can fade printed colors and accelerate changes in wood, grip and foil finishes.
- Avoid damp rooms and rapid temperature swings that can affect wood and adhesive layers.
- Use clean hands or cotton gloves when handling a carved, textured or foil surface.
- Keep certificates, numbered cards and booklets in an acid-free sleeve or folder separate from the deck but linked to its inventory record.
- Do not stack heavy objects on a mounted or boxed deck, and inspect hardware periodically for loosening.
Display with or without riding hardware
Leaving wheels and trucks installed emphasizes the skateboard’s original form but adds depth and weight to the mount. Removing them creates a flatter presentation and can reduce stress on a wall system, but store every part together and record the configuration. If you plan to ride a board, inspect trucks, wheels, bearings and deck integrity before use; a collectible finish does not replace normal skateboard safety checks.
Buying and authenticity checklist
- Verify the exact design name: Shiny Magikarp, Shiny Gyarados, Charizard, Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu, Pancham, Pyukumuku or Snom should be identified explicitly.
- Confirm what is included: wheels, trucks, wall mounts, certificates, numbered cards and booklets are not universal across the series.
- Match the edition and region: the 2023 character trio was a Pokémon Center UK release; the Lake of Rage boards are 2026 products.
- Inspect condition: ask about scratches, grip wear, warped wood, foil lifting, drilled holes and missing packaging.
- Check numbering and paperwork: compare the number on the board or card with the seller’s photographs and retain the original certificate.
- Separate scarcity from value: a 250-deck limit or a 500-copy chase variant documents supply, not a guaranteed resale price.
- Confirm return terms: limited merchandise can be difficult to replace if the wrong design or damaged item arrives.
Common pitfalls and how to avoid them
Confusing a sealed deck with a guaranteed character
A sealed Santa Cruz bag identifies the series, not the Pokémon or card art inside. Do not pay a premium expecting a particular design unless the seller is offering an opened, authenticated deck and clearly shows it.
Assuming every Bear Walker board includes the same package
Included hardware differs. Charizard has wall mounts, wheels and trucks; Lake of Rage documentation specifies matching hardware for Magikarp and certificates for both boards; older releases have their own contents. Read the exact listing rather than applying one edition’s specification to another.
Treating “limited” as an investment promise
Limited production can make an item desirable, but demand, condition, completeness and regional availability determine actual resale outcomes. No published market-performance statistic supports an investment-return claim for these boards.
Ignoring scale and shipping risk
A full-size deck needs a long, protected shipping carton and a suitable display location. Measure first, and photograph the package on arrival so a transport claim can be supported if the board or finish is damaged.
Bottom line for collectors
Choose a Pokémon Center × Bear Walker board when certainty, named-character artwork and display credentials matter most. The Lake of Rage Shiny Magikarp and Shiny Gyarados designs are the current 2026 options; Charizard adds the most complete wall-display package, and the 2023 Pichu, Pikachu and Raichu decks provide the clearest stated 250-per-design limit. Choose Santa Cruz’s 2026 Pokémon TCG blind-bag deck only when the randomized opening and card-art chase are themselves the reason to buy. If a skateboard is too large or unavailable, official Pokémon cards, plush, clothing or LEGO sets preserve the collecting theme with simpler storage and more predictable selection.
