If you want exercise where music sets the pace or movement becomes a rhythm game, six options offer distinct approaches: bodyweight training, timed intervals, boxing, percussion, music-paced strength work, and adaptive workout music. The available information does not identify which product you mean by “Inpulse,” so these are alternatives for those workout needs—not verified one-for-one replacements. Compare how each connects music to movement, what equipment it needs, and whether its platform and current terms suit you.

How to choose a music-powered workout

“Music workout” can mean several different things. In one app, a beat is the cue for a movement; in another, music contains the interval timer, or a track’s tempo determines how quickly you perform repetitions. A rhythm game can make targets appear in time with music, while a percussion workout asks you to move and drum along. Those differences matter more than whether an app simply plays a soundtrack.

Start with the kind of activity you want to do. If you want a bodyweight session without gear, HIIT the Beat is the clearest match in this group. If you already enjoy boxing-style movement, Beatboxing uses music-timed punch targets. If drumming is the point, BACKSTAGE by POUND is built around that format and uses Ripstix. For conventional intervals, Tabata Songs pairs music with a fixed work-and-rest structure. SweatSonic uses tempo and coaching cues to pace strength and conditioning, while Repbeats describes a more adaptive music concept tied to heart rate and cadence.

Then check practical fit before committing: supported device, equipment, whether you can use your own music, and the current price or subscription terms in your region. The reviewed descriptions establish some platform and payment details, but they do not provide a consistent price comparison or independent test of workout results.

Beatboxing Music-timed punch targets turn boxing movement into a rhythm activity; the phone camera detects movement. Game-like boxing cardio. Official site says phone only and lists iOS and Android; confirm current store availability. Current price and subscription terms are not stated.

Which option fits your workout style?

HIIT the Beat: follow the beat with bodyweight movement

HIIT the Beat is the most direct fit if you want music to lead a bodyweight session rather than act as background audio. Its US App Store listing describes sessions from 7 to 25 minutes, levels from beginner to advanced, and work on strength, coordination, mobility, and rhythm. The listing says no equipment is needed. Those are provider-listed format and feature details, not evidence that the app produces better fitness results than another option.

The listed session range makes it possible to look for a shorter or longer workout within the app’s stated formats, but it does not establish how many sessions are included, how a program progresses, or whether every session is available without payment. The same listing advertises in-app purchases. Check the current listing for your country and device for the available content and charges; the reviewed information does not give a price.

Choose it when the combination of beat, coordination, and bodyweight exercise is appealing. If your priority is a standardized work-rest timer, a punch-target game, or strength repetitions paced by a track’s BPM, the other options make that relationship more explicit.

Tabata Songs: let the track handle interval timing

Tabata Songs is the clearest choice here when the main problem is keeping track of work and rest intervals. Its official app page specifies 20 seconds of work followed by 10 seconds of rest, repeated eight times. It also offers follow-along workouts and programs. In this format, the music does more than provide atmosphere: its structure tells you when to work and when to recover.

The fixed pattern can suit a workout where you want to focus on the movement rather than check a timer. It is also a different proposition from an app that selects the exercise or tracks your movement: the documented feature is built-in interval timing alongside music and guided plans. If you need a different interval structure, do not assume the listed 20/10 sequence is customizable; that capability is not established by the reviewed page.

The page lists phone or computer access and plans or subscriptions, but not current prices. Check the current plan terms and the specific workout format before relying on it for a class or training plan.

Beatboxing: turn boxing movement into a rhythm game

Beatboxing is the most game-like option in this set. Its official site describes punch targets timed to music and movement detection through the phone camera. It says the app is for iOS and Android and needs only a phone. That combination makes the phone both the screen for the targets and the device used to detect movement.

This makes sense for someone who wants boxing-inspired cardio guided by visual targets rather than a conventional interval soundtrack. The description does not establish that the app teaches boxing technique, provides a coached training plan, or measures the quality of a punch. Treat it as a rhythm-boxing activity, not as a substitute for instruction in boxing skills.

The provider says a phone is all that is needed, but the reviewed information does not specify supported phone models, camera requirements, room setup, or subscription terms. Confirm that the app is currently listed for your device and test the camera-based interaction in a suitable space before planning a session around it.

BACKSTAGE by POUND: make percussion part of the workout

BACKSTAGE by POUND is for people who want the physical act of drumming built into movement. The Google Play listing describes POUND as using lightly weighted Ripstix and combining drumming, cardio, conditioning, strength, and Pilates-inspired movements. It is therefore distinct from an interval app that merely plays music while you exercise: the percussion itself is part of the activity.

Ripstix are a real equipment requirement to account for. The reviewed description identifies them as lightly weighted exercise drumsticks, but does not establish whether a subscription includes them, whether household substitutes are suitable, or what space a routine requires. Check the app and any class instructions for the equipment expected before starting.

The listing describes a 45-minute class format and thousands of repetitions. Those are provider descriptions of the format, not independently verified performance or health outcomes. The app lists subscriptions; its current prices and terms are not stated in the reviewed material.

SweatSonic: use track tempo to pace repetitions

SweatSonic is aimed at people who want music to shape the pace of strength or conditioning work. Its official site describes a CADENCE REPS method that matches track beats per minute (BPM) to exercise tempo and integrates coaching into original tracks. This differs from Tabata Songs’ stated fixed intervals: the emphasis here is the tempo of repetitions and coaching within the composed music.

Headphones are noted as an access requirement. The site also says personal music cannot replace the composed workout tracks, so this is not a “bring any playlist” approach. That distinction is worth checking before choosing it if you have a strong preference for your own music or need a particular track for a workout.

The description supports its stated pacing method, but does not provide a full list of compatible devices, pricing, or enough detail to compare its exercise library with the other apps. Confirm those practical details directly with the provider before signing up.

Repbeats: an adaptive concept, with availability unconfirmed

Repbeats describes adapting workout-music tempo to heart rate and cadence, and its page refers to wearable and music-service connections. If you want music pacing that responds to activity signals rather than staying at one fixed tempo, that is the concept to investigate.

However, the reviewed official page does not clearly establish whether Repbeats is currently available. A description of integrations is not confirmation that an app can be downloaded, paired with a particular wearable, or used with a particular music service today. Treat it as a watchlist option: confirm launch status, supported devices, compatible services, and terms before making it part of a training plan.

Choose by the role music should play

If you want music to cue the movement

Look at HIIT the Beat for beat-led bodyweight moves or Beatboxing for music-timed punch targets. The first is oriented around bodyweight sessions and rhythm; the second makes the target interaction more game-like and uses camera-based movement detection. Decide whether you want to follow a workout’s movements or react to on-screen targets.

If you want music to replace a separate timer

Tabata Songs has the clearest stated interval structure: 20 seconds on, 10 seconds off, repeated eight times. That can reduce clock-watching for someone doing an interval workout, but the documented sequence is specific. Confirm the available workouts match the structure you want rather than assuming every interval format is supported.

If you want movement to create the music experience

Choose BACKSTAGE by POUND if percussion and drumming are central to the appeal, and account for the Ripstix requirement. If you prefer strength repetitions paced to a track and spoken coaching, SweatSonic’s described format is closer. These are different kinds of music-centered sessions; one is not a like-for-like replacement for the other.

If you want tempo to adapt to effort

Repbeats is the only option in this group described as adapting music tempo to heart rate and cadence, but availability is unclear. Do not plan around that capability until the app’s launch status and device integrations are confirmed.

Check access, equipment, and payment before you commit

Platform listings and subscription details can change, and the available evidence does not provide a current, comparable price list. Use the provider’s current app listing or official page to verify availability where you live, supported hardware, and what payment unlocks. In particular, distinguish a listed in-app purchase or subscription from a stated price: the listings establish payment options exist for some apps, not what they cost now.

  • Device and platform: HIIT the Beat’s reviewed US App Store listing is for iPhone and iPad. Beatboxing’s site says iOS and Android, while its current store availability should be checked. Tabata Songs describes phone or computer access. The reviewed information does not provide an equivalent full platform list for every option.
  • Workout gear: HIIT the Beat says no equipment is needed; Beatboxing says a phone is enough. BACKSTAGE by POUND uses Ripstix, and SweatSonic notes headphones. Do not assume that an option without a stated equipment requirement has no setup requirements at all.
  • Your own audio: SweatSonic explicitly says personal music cannot replace its composed tracks. For the other options, the reviewed descriptions do not settle whether you can use your own playlist, so verify that detail if it matters.
  • Recurring cost: HIIT the Beat lists in-app purchases; Tabata Songs lists plans and subscriptions; BACKSTAGE by POUND lists subscriptions. Current amounts, billing frequency, trial terms, and cancellation rules are not established here.
  • Unconfirmed launch: Repbeats’ page describes a concept and integrations but does not clearly establish current availability. Confirm that it is released and supports your devices before comparing it as an active choice.

What these options can—and cannot—be compared on

The available product descriptions make it possible to compare interaction style, stated equipment, some platform access, and whether payment options are listed. They do not provide independent testing, head-to-head workout results, safety comparisons, or evidence that one option improves fitness more than another. Descriptions of strength, conditioning, mobility, or cardio identify the providers’ stated formats; they are not measured outcomes.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

There is also no verified identification of the specific Inpulse product behind the title. That prevents a reliable feature-by-feature replacement ranking. The practical way to shortlist is to name the thing you want music to do—cue a move, time intervals, set repetition pace, or make exercise a rhythm game—then check the device and cost details that matter to you. This approach avoids treating very different workout experiences as interchangeable.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
