For All the Mods 10 (ATM10), budget 12GB of server RAM for one to five players, 16GB for five to 15, and about 32GB for a 15-player-plus community. For All the Mods 9 (ATM9), 12GB is a sensible floor, 16GB suits a typical group, and 20GB or more gives a larger community room to grow.
The best host is not automatically the one with the lowest monthly number. Compare guaranteed RAM, CPU allocation, NVMe storage, backups, support, billing terms and cancellation protection. The prices below are provider-listing snapshots collected on October 14, 2026; they were not verified as live checkout quotes, so confirm the final price and inclusions before paying.

How much RAM does All the Mods need?
ATM10
Space-node’s 2026 guide recommends 12GB for one to five players, 16GB for five to 15 and 32GB for 15 or more. Kinetic Hosting also lists 12GB as its recommended ATM10 amount. Those figures are more useful than simply matching the heap setting in the server script.

The official ATM10 server files use an -Xmx8G Java heap setting. That is the maximum heap, not the total memory consumed by the process and its environment. Java’s native allocations, libraries, thread stacks, the operating system and the hosting panel all need room. A plan advertised as 8GB can therefore run out of memory even when the heap never reaches 8GB. A 12GB plan gives the 8GB heap a practical margin.
ATM9
ATM9 figures vary because guides assume different group sizes. GBNODES lists 12GB as a minimum for three to five players, 16GB for five to 15 and 20–24GB for 15 or more. WiseHosting’s 2026 guide gives a lower 8–10GB recommendation, while HytHost advises 16GB or more for heavy expert packs such as All the Mods.

If you already know that only two or three people will play and you are prepared to reduce distances and restart during testing, a 10GB listing may work; it leaves less room for growth and troubleshooting.
RAM is not the only limit
- CPU: Modded Minecraft’s main server tick is sensitive to single-thread performance. A large RAM allocation cannot repair a consistently overloaded or heavily shared CPU.
- Storage: Fast NVMe storage helps world saves, chunk generation and restarts, but it does not compensate for insufficient CPU or memory.
- Player behavior: New terrain generation, many dimensions, farms, chunk loaders and redstone-like automation create different loads than a small established base.
- Java overhead: Treat the plan’s RAM as the complete server allocation, not as heap space that can all be assigned with
-Xmx.

On the listed numbers, Space-node Standard and Kinetic Hosting’s 12GB plan are among the lower-cost ways to reach the recommended ATM10 capacity. That is a price observation only; no independent tick-rate or CPU benchmark was established, so it is not proof that either will outperform a more expensive plan.

ATM9 pricing illustrates why capacity alone is not a sufficient comparison. A 12GB plan can be close to $24, $28 or more than $35 depending on billing, discounts and the provider’s hardware tier.

What to check before buying
1. Guaranteed memory
Ask support to state the guaranteed RAM in writing and confirm it in the order summary. Distinguish total container memory from Java heap. Avoid choosing an 8GB plan for ATM10 solely because the startup script says -Xmx8G.
2. CPU allocation and contention
Look for the CPU model or generation, the number of dedicated or shared vCPUs, and any stated usage limits. “Unlimited” CPU wording is not a benchmark. If a host cannot explain how CPU time is allocated, treat its advertised RAM as only one part of the risk.
3. Storage and backups
Prefer NVMe or equivalent fast storage for a large modpack. Confirm the storage quota separately from RAM, how often automatic backups run, how many restore points are retained, and whether backups are stored on a different system. A backup that lives on the same failed disk is not a complete recovery plan.
4. Support and access
Check whether support is human and available 24/7 or only during business hours. Verify that you can access the console, edit startup arguments, upload a server pack, download the world and restore a backup without opening a ticket for every change.

5. Location and network policy
Choose a data-center region close to most players, then confirm the provider’s DDoS protection, port policy and transfer limits. Geographic proximity usually matters more to latency than a small difference in advertised RAM.
6. Billing and exit terms
Record the regular renewal price, not just the introductory or annual-discount price. Check taxes, currency conversion, cancellation timing, refunds and money-back conditions. MintServers’ listing, for example, mentions a 24-hour money-back guarantee; that is materially different from a longer trial and should be read alongside its exclusions.
How to deploy an All the Mods server
Panel names differ, but the following sequence works across most managed Minecraft hosts.
- Define the target. Write down ATM9 or ATM10, the exact pack release, expected simultaneous players and whether you will allow public access. Use the higher RAM tier if the player count is uncertain.
- Purchase capacity, not a slogan. Select at least 12GB for a small ATM10 or ATM9 group. For five to 15 players, choose 16GB. For a larger community, start at 20–32GB and confirm that the host can upgrade without changing your address.
- Match the server software. Download the server files for the exact pack version from the pack’s official distribution. Do not mix client files, a different release or a different mod-loader build. Keep a copy of the original archive.
- Set the required Java runtime. Use the Java version specified by that pack release and the host’s startup template. If the panel offers a Java selector, change it before the first launch rather than troubleshooting a crash caused by an incompatible runtime.
- Launch once and accept the EULA. Start the server, stop it after the initial files are created, review
eula.txt, and set the value to accept only if you agree to Mojang’s terms. Start again and wait for the console to report that the server is ready. - Review memory flags. Keep the pack’s tested arguments unless you have a reason to change them. Ensure
-Xmxstays below the plan’s total RAM so the operating system and Java-native memory are not squeezed out. The ATM10 files’ 8GB heap setting is one reason a 12GB plan is a safer minimum. - Secure the first login. Enable a whitelist before sharing the address, set an administrator account from the console, and use a strong password for the hosting panel. Never publish panel credentials in a Discord channel or modpack configuration.
- Configure backups before inviting players. Schedule an automatic backup, create a manual restore point, and download a copy. Test that a restore can be performed and that the resulting world opens.
- Run a private test. Join with one or two players, generate new terrain, visit the dimensions you intend to use and inspect the console for memory or tick warnings. Increase capacity before launch if the test leaves little free memory or produces repeated pauses.
- Document the setup. Save the pack version, Java version, startup flags, server address, backup location and upgrade procedure. This short record makes a later migration much less risky.
Diagnosing common problems
“Out of memory” crashes
Read the crash report and panel memory graph first. If the heap reaches its limit, move from 10GB to 12GB or from 12GB to 16GB rather than repeatedly restarting. If total container memory is exhausted while the heap is below -Xmx, reduce the heap slightly or move to a larger plan with more overhead. Remove no mods until you have confirmed that the server and client are on the same pack release.
Low TPS or rubber-banding
Low TPS is a timing problem, not automatically a RAM problem. Check CPU saturation, active chunk generation and heavily automated bases. Pause chunk-generating activities, lower view and simulation distances gradually, and compare the result during the same in-game activity. If one core remains saturated, a plan with faster or less-contended CPU resources is more appropriate than simply adding memory.

Long pauses during exploration
New terrain stresses CPU and storage at the same time. Confirm that the world is on fast storage, avoid running several pregeneration jobs concurrently, and leave headroom for saves. A world that behaves well around an established base can still stall when several players fly into unexplored regions.
Mod or loader mismatch
“Missing mods,” registry errors and immediate disconnects usually indicate that the server and client do not share the exact pack version, loader and configuration. Reinstall the server files from the matching release, remove manually added client-only mods from the server, and distribute the same profile to every player.
Players cannot connect
Confirm the server is fully started, the address and port are correct, and the host has not changed the allocation after a migration. Check the whitelist and whether the panel reports the process as online. If only one player fails, compare that player’s pack version and Java installation with a player who can connect.
Disk-full errors or failed saves
Inspect world size, logs and retained backups separately. Delete old logs only after downloading any crash evidence, reduce excessive backup retention, and increase the disk quota if the world itself is growing. Never delete the live world to recover space without a tested backup.

Upgrade RAM when the evidence points to capacity
Move up a tier when memory graphs repeatedly approach the limit, garbage collection becomes frequent, or the server crashes while the player count is within the plan’s advertised range. ATM10 groups often move from 12GB to 16GB as they add players; communities above 15 players should plan for 32GB rather than waiting for emergency crashes.

Upgrade CPU when memory is healthy
If free memory remains but the main tick falls behind during automation or exploration, seek a stronger CPU allocation or a less-contended node. Ask the provider whether the upgrade changes CPU resources as well as RAM; some plans increase only memory.
Migrate without losing the world
- Stop the old server cleanly from its console.
- Create and download a fresh backup, including the world,
server.properties, whitelist, operator list and relevant configuration folders. - Install the identical ATM release and Java runtime on the new host.
- Upload the files while the new process is stopped, then check ownership and permissions if the panel requires them.
- Start privately, verify player inventories, dimensions, quests and claims, and only then update the public address.
- Keep the old copy read-only until the new server has completed at least one successful backup cycle.
How to budget realistically
For a small ATM10 group, the listed 12GB offers span roughly $12.99 to $17.99 per month in the examples above, with a euro-priced Standard option at €10.80. ATM9 examples are wider: 12GB listings range from the low-to-high $20s, while a 15–20-player estimate is $35–$50 for 12–16GB. These figures exclude any taxes, currency conversion, premium support, extra storage or paid backup add-ons unless the listing explicitly includes them.
Set aside a second budget for resilience: an external backup destination, a larger disk if the world grows, and an upgrade reserve for launch-week load. Annual discounts can reduce the effective monthly number but increase the cost of leaving early, so compare the total commitment with month-to-month pricing.
Which option fits each buyer?
Lowest-cost sensible ATM10 start
Compare Kinetic Hosting’s listed 12GB plan, Space-node Standard at 12GB and MintServers’ offer only after its guaranteed allocation is confirmed. The first two publish a concrete capacity; the third requires extra scrutiny because “unlimited RAM” does not state a fixed amount.
Predictable ATM10 growth

Large or public community
Start at 20–32GB, insist on written CPU and backup details, and ask about upgrade lead time before launch. The cheapest per-gigabyte listing is not useful if CPU contention or backup limits force a later migration.

For most buyers, a guaranteed 12GB plan is the right starting point for a small ATM10 or ATM9 server, 16GB is the practical group tier, and 32GB is the safer target for 15 or more ATM10 players.
