PlayniteAchievements coverage

Set up Playnite for achievement tracking
- Install Playnite on Windows. Download the current release from the project’s official site and complete the standard installation. Playnite is Windows-only; it is not a web profile that follows you automatically to every device.
- Connect your libraries. Open the integrations or library-import settings and enable the clients you use, such as Steam, Epic Games, GOG, EA app, Battle.net and Ubisoft Connect. Sign in through the provider’s supported authentication flow rather than entering credentials into an unrelated plug-in prompt.
- Review local data and privacy settings. Playnite’s project documentation says library information is kept locally. Decide whether your extensions may contact external services and read each permission description before approving it.
- Install an achievement extension. Add PlayniteAchievements, or another actively maintained extension that documents the stores you need. Match the extension version to your Playnite version.
- Enable each source and run a scan. Select the storefronts to import, authorize only the accounts required, and start an initial synchronization. Large libraries can take time; leave the source clients available if the extension requires them to be running.
- Check a few known games. Compare the extension’s totals with the achievement pages in the original store. Confirm that DLC, hidden achievements and games with removed or unobtainable achievements are represented as you expect.
- Maintain the setup. Recheck extension updates and permissions after a Playnite or storefront update. If data stops refreshing, disable the failing source, update the extension, and compare results with the store’s own achievement page before reinstalling anything.
SteamHunters and Completionist.me for Steam-only players
Community discussions commonly place SteamHunters, Completionist.me and Exophase in the same comparison. Checks to perform before relying on the results
Review the service’s current explanation of synchronization, private profiles, anti-cheat treatment and downloadable-content (DLC) rules. Steam games can add, remove or revise achievement sets, and third-party sites may handle those changes differently. Check whether a leaderboard excludes games with known exploit activity, whether unobtainable achievements lower a completion score, and whether DLC achievements are included in the displayed total. If those rules are not clearly documented, use the service for discovery rather than as an authoritative record.
How achievement data moves from a store to a tracker
Most trackers do not receive a universal achievement feed. They use a separate integration for each store, often through a public profile, an authorized account connection or a local client. The integration reads game ownership and achievement state, translates the store’s identifiers into the tracker’s database, and refreshes the profile on a schedule or when you request a sync.
Why two trackers can show different totals
- Different game sets: one service may combine regional or definitive editions while another treats them as separate entries.
- DLC policy: optional content may be counted, excluded or shown separately.
- Removed or unobtainable achievements: a service may preserve the original requirement, mark it unobtainable or omit it from a completion percentage.
- Refresh timing: a delayed import can make a recently earned achievement appear missing even though the store has recorded it.
- Privacy restrictions: private game details or hidden profiles can prevent a complete import.
- Anti-cheat and corrections: services may suppress suspicious data, recalculate scores or leave historical records unchanged.
Use the original store’s achievement page as the first diagnostic reference. If it shows the achievement and the tracker does not, the issue is usually synchronization, permissions or the tracker’s matching policy rather than a lost achievement.

Privacy and account-safety checklist
Achievement trackers need enough information to match your games and unlocked achievements. Before linking an account, work through these checks:

- Use the service’s official sign-in or authorization page; never paste a store password into a third-party form that bypasses the provider.
- Set your store profile to the visibility level required by the integration, then restore a more restrictive setting if the tracker supports another authentication method.
- Read whether the connection is read-only and which data it can access. Achievement synchronization should not require purchase, payment or library-management permissions.
- For Playnite extensions, inspect requested permissions and disable sources you do not use.
- Remove an authorization from the store’s account-security page when you stop using a tracker.
- Decide whether your public gamercard or leaderboard entry reveals your real name, play history or recently played games.
Troubleshooting missing or incorrect achievements
The tracker shows no games
Confirm that the source profile is public when required, that you authorized the correct account and that the game is owned on that account. Run a manual refresh, then compare the store’s own library page. On Playnite, verify that the relevant integration imported the library before troubleshooting the achievement extension.
Recent achievements are delayed
Allow the service’s normal refresh interval to pass and trigger a new sync if available. Do not repeatedly revoke and reauthorize an account while a refresh is pending; that can create duplicate or incomplete connections. If the store page is correct but the tracker remains stale, check its service-status or support information.
A game’s total is different
Compare the base game and DLC entries, edition or region identifiers, and the treatment of removed achievements. A tracker may calculate completion against a different denominator than the store. Record which rule you prefer before comparing scores with friends.
Playnite stopped importing achievements
- Open Playnite’s extension manager and check for updates.
- Read the extension’s release notes for a storefront API or authentication change.
- Test one affected game in the original store to separate a store-side issue from an extension issue.
- Reauthorize only the affected source, then run a fresh scan.
- If the extension is unmaintained or lacks the needed store, use a dedicated service for that platform instead of granting broader permissions to an unknown plug-in.

Choose Playnite when organization matters
Pick Playnite when your frustration is scattered Windows libraries and you want one launcher, catalog and playtime view. Add achievement tracking only after confirming that an extension supports your stores and is actively maintained.
Choose a Steam specialist when hunting matters
