What the X5’s design means for accessory buying
Insta360 launched the X5 on April 22, 2025. The launch announcement highlighted replaceable lenses, a built-in wind guard and waterproofing to 49 ft. Replaceable lenses reduce the risk that one scratch ends the camera’s useful life, but they do not eliminate the value of protecting the lens during transport, handling or activities where the camera could strike something.
The mounting standard is the first compatibility check. Insta360’s 2026 product specifications identify a 1/4-inch quick-release mounting point. A stick that merely looks similar is not enough: confirm that its listing explicitly names the X5 and provides the matching mount. This avoids a loose connection, an adapter that changes the camera’s balance, or a purchase that cannot be attached directly.
Also separate camera protection from accessory protection. The camera’s stated waterproofing does not automatically make every stick, case or charging accessory suitable for underwater use. Check the current instructions for each accessory, especially before combining a camera, stick and protective guard in wet conditions.
Which selfie stick works with the Insta360 X5?
Choose the 114 cm Invisible Selfie Stick for general use
The official store lists a 114 cm Invisible Selfie Stick for the X5. It is the default recommendation for travel, walking footage, family outings and other situations where you want the camera farther away while retaining a manageable pack size. The extra reach changes the camera’s perspective without requiring a more specialized action mount.
An invisible stick is intended for a clean 360 reframing workflow: when the stick is positioned correctly beneath the camera, the stitched view can hide it from the final perspective. That makes a dedicated invisible model more useful than a generic handheld pole for third-person shots. It also leaves you more freedom to reframe the scene after recording.

Choose the Action Invisible Selfie Stick for demanding mounts
The official store also lists an Action Invisible Selfie Stick. The name signals a different priority: choose this variant when the activity or mounting position is more demanding than ordinary travel. Confirm the exact X5 compatibility and the included 1/4-inch-compatible connection on the live listing before ordering, because accessory names and included hardware can vary by market.
How length changes your footage
- Shorter or standard reach: easier to carry and control in crowds, interiors and ordinary walking shots.
- 114 cm reach: a practical middle ground for a wider sense of separation from the camera without making the stick unwieldy.
- Action-oriented setup: preferable when the attachment method, handling or activity places more stress on the mount than a normal travel scene.
Do not buy on length alone. Check the mounting interface, the stick’s intended activity and how you will carry it. A longer pole can provide a more elevated or separated viewpoint, but it also needs more room to swing and more care around people, branches and walls.

- Verify that the stick listing names the Insta360 X5 and that its connector matches the camera’s 1/4-inch quick-release mount.
- Attach the camera firmly, then check that the connection is fully seated before raising the stick.
- Keep the stick aligned beneath the camera’s stitching area. Poor alignment can make the stick more visible in the final 360 view.
- Leave clearance around the lenses. A hand, clamp or strap that enters the lens view can create a persistent obstruction in every reframe.
- Before a long take, make a short recording and inspect the stitched result. This catches an incorrectly seated mount or an unwanted part of the stick before the important shot.
Is an official spare battery worth it?
Use the published runtime as a planning range
Insta360 lists a 2,400 mAh X5 battery. Its 2026 product specifications give these laboratory results:

These are manufacturer laboratory figures, not guaranteed field results. Screen use, wireless connections, temperature, wind, stabilization, storage activity and repeated starts can change actual endurance. Treat the numbers as a planning baseline rather than a promise that every battery will record for exactly that long.
When a second battery pays off
- Travel days: you can continue filming while the first battery charges elsewhere.
- Events: a spare avoids ending a sequence because the camera needs to be connected to a charger.
- Outdoor work: changing batteries is often simpler than finding a clean, weather-protected charging point.
- High-resolution capture: the 93-minute 8K30 laboratory figure makes a second battery particularly useful for repeated 8K sessions.
If your use consists of short clips near a charger, the spare is less urgent. If you routinely record several sessions in one day, the battery is a higher-priority purchase than cosmetic accessories.

Buy the correct battery
Insta360’s X5 User Manual states: “Only use batteries provided by Insta360 designed for X5. If you need to replace the battery, please purchase it from the Insta360 official store.” Follow that instruction rather than treating a battery with a similar capacity or connector as interchangeable. Capacity alone does not establish compatibility, safety or correct camera communication.

Carry the spare so its contacts cannot touch loose metal objects, and inspect the battery before installation. If it is swollen, damaged or unusually hot, do not use it. Follow the current manual and official charging guidance for storage, charging and disposal.
Do you need lens guards for the Insta360 X5?
Standard Lens Guards for everyday protection
Standard Lens Guards are the straightforward choice for ordinary travel, desk storage and careful handheld use. They add a sacrificial protective layer over the X5’s lenses, helping reduce the consequences of a bump or contact during normal handling.
They are not a reason to stop cleaning or handling the camera carefully. Dust, fingerprints and a misaligned guard can affect footage even when the underlying lens is undamaged. Install them exactly as the current instructions show, and inspect the result before an important recording.
Premium Lens Guards for higher-risk use
Premium Lens Guards are the better fit when the camera will be exposed to more knocks, rougher transport or activities where a lens strike is more plausible. They are also worth considering when an official bundle includes them at a favorable overall price.

“Premium” does not mean optically invisible in every situation. Any guard introduces another surface between the scene and the lens. Reflections, flare, edge effects or stitching differences can depend on the lighting, angle and cleanliness of the guard. Check current product instructions and image-quality examples before a critical shoot, especially if you record bright lights, night scenes or scenes with strong contrast.

TechRadar documented an Essentials bundle at a US launch price of $659.99 in 2025. Its reported contents were a second battery, Fast Charge Case, 114 cm Invisible Selfie Stick, Standard Lens Guards, rubber lens cap and carry case. That is a historical launch price, not a current universal price; local taxes, currency, stock and later promotions can change the amount.
Compare the bundle with your actual shopping list
- Write down the items you genuinely need: usually the stick, spare battery and one guard type.
- Check whether the bundle includes the exact stick variant you want, rather than a different length or action-oriented model.
- Confirm whether the bundle contains Standard or Premium Lens Guards.
- Value the Fast Charge Case, lens cap and carry case only if you will use them; included accessories are not savings if they stay in a drawer.
- Compare the live bundle total with the current individual prices in your country. The documented $659.99 figure is historical US launch pricing and should not be reused as a present-day price.
For a first-time owner who needs protection, power and a stick, the Essentials-style combination is coherent. If you already own a compatible stick, need only a battery, or have no use for a case, buying one accessory at a time can be the better value.

Planning from the longest battery figure
Symptom: the camera runs out much sooner than expected during 8K recording. Fix: plan against the mode you will actually use; the published figures range from 93 minutes in 8K30 to 208 minutes in 5.7K24 Endurance, and all are laboratory estimates.
Choosing guards only by the word “premium”
