The best 7 Days to Die host in 2026 is the one that fits your group’s player count, platforms, mods, location and backup needs. There is no independently tested market-wide winner in the available evidence. A useful starting point is Nitrado’s US offer, which displayed 8 slots for $12.99 per 30 days, 10 slots for $16.19 per 30 days and 8 slots for $35.49 per 90 days on October 13, 2026. Those are live storefront prices, not a market average or a promise of your final checkout total.
Choose capacity and feature constraints before comparing prices. Crossplay, for example, can impose a smaller player limit and disable mods, while a modded PC server may need a different plan and administration workflow. The guide below separates verified provider claims from decisions you still need to confirm at checkout.

Our top pick: Godlike.Host
Godlike.Host is our top pick for a 7 Days to Die server. It runs servers on its own Pterodactyl-based game panel, with a task scheduler, sub-users with permissions, a config editor and a built-in mod installer and updater. It offers 10 locations (including US West Coast, US East Coast, Germany and Singapore), free DDoS protection, and up to three free backups a day with restore. Support is available 24/7/365 by live chat or ticket; see the current plans to match one to your group.

What a 7 Days to Die server host actually provides
A hosted dedicated server runs your world continuously in a provider’s data center instead of requiring one player’s computer and internet connection to remain online. Players connect to the same persistent world when the owner is away, and the host supplies the control panel, server process, storage and network connection.
#1 Best Overall
- Explore – Huge, rich environments, with unique biomes and worlds up to 100 square kilometres in size.
- Craft – Handcraft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, with hundreds of recipes and schematics.
- Build – Design your fort with traps, electricity, auto turrets, and gadgets to survive in a fully destructible and mouldable world.
- Cooperate or Compete – Work together to build settlements or against each other in a wasteland where zombies and outlaws rule the land.
- A must-have for collectors and fans of Open-World Survival Horror, the 7 Days to Die – Console Edition Survival Bundle includes the following: An exclusive Artbook with over 100 pages showcasing never-before-seen illustrations of the zombie apocalypse, a CD featuring the haunting Original Soundtrack (OST) of the game, a double-sided poster, Fine art prints x3, Sticker sheets x 3, the physical game, and a collectible tuck-in box housing all the contents.
You are buying a recurring service, not a one-time game license. The meaningful parts of that service are:
- Capacity: the maximum simultaneous players and any special cap imposed by crossplay.
- Platform support: whether the plan supports your PC or console edition and whether those platforms can join the same world.
- Configuration: access to game settings such as the server name, description, game mode and world.
- Mods: whether mods are permitted, how they are installed and whether they are disabled by crossplay.
- Continuity: backup frequency, retention, restore controls and what happens during game updates.
- Administration: the control panel, file access, restart controls, support and the ability to export or migrate your world.
- Geography: the available server locations relative to your players, which affects latency.
A low introductory price is not good value if it forces a larger plan, lacks backups or puts the server far from most of the group.
Verified 2026 provider snapshot: Nitrado
Nitrado’s US 7 Days to Die product page, checked October 13, 2026, displayed the following subscriptions:
| Displayed plan | Term | Price shown | Approximate 30-day equivalent | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8 slots | 30 days | $12.99 | $12.99 | US storefront snapshot; taxes, currency and availability can change |
| 10 slots | 30 days | $16.19 | $16.19 | US storefront snapshot; renewal and checkout totals require confirmation |
| 8 slots | 90 days | $35.49 | About $11.83 per 30 days | Arithmetic equivalent, not a stated monthly price |
The 90-day figure is calculated by dividing the displayed $35.49 term price by three. It should not be treated as a guarantee that a future renewal will use the same rate. Storefront, taxes, currency, promotions and plan availability may change.
Features Nitrado lists
Nitrado lists PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series crossplay, selectable server locations, automated backups, configurable server settings and mod installation. Its FAQ says settings including the server name, description, game mode and game world can be customized, and that users can install or remove mods. These are provider statements, not independent measurements of uptime, performance or support quality.
Nitrado also says game-server updates typically arrive within three hours after a game release and require a restart before they apply. “Typically” is not a service-level guarantee, so check the current update policy if your group plays immediately after patches.
Is Nitrado the best host?
The available evidence supports Nitrado as a candidate that covers common requirements, not as a proven overall winner. No comparable independent tests establish a market leader for performance, uptime, support or customer satisfaction. A fair comparison requires the same slot count, term, region, backup policy and feature set for every provider.
Rank #2
- Explore – Huge, rich environments, with unique biomes and worlds up to 100 square kilometres in size.
- Craft – Handcraft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, with hundreds of recipes and schematics.
- Build – Design your fort with traps, electricity, auto turrets, and gadgets to survive in a fully destructible and mouldable world.
- Cooperate or Compete – Work together to build settlements or against each other in a wasteland where zombies and outlaws rule the land.
- Farm or Hunt – Plant gardens for sustainable resources or head out to the wilderness and hunt over a dozen unique animals.
Use the following decision order:
- Define whether your group needs crossplay.
- Count the largest number of simultaneous players, including occasional guests.
- Decide whether mods are essential.
- Choose a region near most players.
- Verify backups, restore access, update handling and file controls.
- Compare the full recurring cost, including the renewal term, taxes and cancellation conditions.
If a provider cannot clearly answer one of those questions, its headline price is not enough to rank it above another option.
How much does a 7 Days to Die server cost?
The verified Nitrado snapshot gives a practical reference point: $12.99 for 8 slots for 30 days and $16.19 for 10 slots for 30 days in the US storefront on October 13, 2026. An 8-slot 90-day term showed $35.49. These figures do not establish the market average and may not include every tax or checkout charge.
Calculate the real recurring cost
Before subscribing, record all of the following for the exact plan you are considering:
- Number of slots and whether that number changes under crossplay.
- Billing term and renewal price after any introductory promotion.
- Currency, taxes and payment fees for your storefront.
- Cancellation timing and whether unused time is refundable.
- Charges for extra storage, backups, database tools or additional locations.
For a small private group, divide the recurring charge by the players who actually share it. A 10-slot plan may cost more than an 8-slot plan while providing little benefit if only six people play. Conversely, buying exactly the current headcount can force another purchase when friends join.

Nitrado’s documentation lists crossplay among PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series. That means those listed platforms can be part of the same hosted server when the crossplay option is enabled, subject to the game and provider’s current edition support. Confirm the exact console edition and account requirements before paying; platform support can change independently of the price page.
Crossplay restrictions to understand
Nitrado says crossplay is disabled by default. Enabling it has four material effects:
- The server’s maximum is capped at eight players.
- Mods are disabled.
- Easy Anti-Cheat is enabled.
- “Ignore EOS Sanctions” is disabled.
These are not minor settings. An eight-person crossplay group may be fine for a private co-op world, but a larger community needs to choose between the cap and a different platform arrangement. A modded group cannot use this crossplay mode according to the provider’s stated restrictions.
Rank #3

- Craft - craft and repair weapons, clothes, armour, tools, vehicles, and more
- Build - Take over a ruin, or build from the ground-up. Design your fortress to include traps and defensive positions to survive the undead
- Cooperate or Compete - Includes two player split screen mode, with support for up to 4 players online, in Player versus Player, co-op survival, or co-op creative modes
Can you use mods on a crossplay server?
Not on the Nitrado crossplay configuration described above: enabling crossplay disables mods. If mods are central to your world, plan a compatible PC-only or otherwise non-crossplay setup and confirm that every player can install the same mod versions.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsQuestions to ask before choosing a modded plan
- Does the control panel support the specific mod framework and game version you use?
- Can you upload, remove and update files yourself?
- Do all players need matching client-side files?
- Can you restore a pre-mod backup if an update breaks the world?
- Can you disable a mod without losing the save?
Keep a clean backup before each mod change. A provider’s statement that it supports mod installation does not guarantee compatibility with every community mod or every game update.
How many slots do you need?
Size the server for the largest simultaneous session, not the total number of people in your chat. Leave room for guests if your group regularly expands.
| Group pattern | Planning approach | Risk of choosing too small a plan |
|---|---|---|
| Solo or two players | Start with the smallest plan that supports your platform and desired settings. | You may pay for unused capacity if the plan has a high minimum. |
| Four to eight players | Match the slot count to the normal peak; an 8-slot plan aligns with the stated crossplay ceiling. | Crossplay leaves no room for a ninth player. |
| More than eight cross-platform players | Crossplay as described by Nitrado is not suitable because it caps the server at eight. | You must change the platform mix, split the group or confirm another provider’s current rules. |
| Modded community | Prioritize mod controls and file access over a crossplay label. | Crossplay may turn mods off and force a world redesign. |
Slot count is a concurrency limit, not a promise of a particular frame rate or world-generation speed. CPU contention, save activity, player location and the game version also affect the experience.
Where should the server be located?
Pick the location that minimizes the worst latency for the group, not necessarily the location nearest the owner. If players are spread across continents, choose a region that gives most of them acceptable latency or agree on who gets priority.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →A provider’s sample ping, if displayed, is not a universal measurement. Your actual result depends on the player’s internet route, time of day and local network. If a provider offers a trial, test from the locations your group actually uses. Otherwise, check the cancellation policy before committing to a long term.
Hosted server versus self-hosting
Self-hosting can avoid a monthly provider charge, but it transfers responsibility to you. The official 7 Days to Die support article “Hardware Information,” updated April 21, 2026, warns that running a dedicated server requires more RAM and heavier CPU use than ordinary client play. Its 12 GB “recommended” memory figure is a client requirement and must not be treated as a dedicated-server specification.
Rank #4
- Explore & Craft - Huge, unique and rich environments, offering the freedom to play the game any way you want while you craft and repair weapons, clothes, armor, tools, vehicles, and more.
- Build - Take over a ruin, or build from the ground-up. Design your fortress to include traps and defensive positions to survive the undead - the world is fully destructible and moldable.
- Cooperate or Compete - Includes two player split screen mode, with additional online multiplayer modes and features to be revealed in the near future.
- Create - Unleash your creativity and build the ultimate world by yourself friends. Enjoy unlimited access to nearly 400 in-game items and 1,200 unique building blocks in creative mode.
- Improve - Increase your skills in a multitude of active and passive disciplines. 7 to Die is the only true survival RPG with nearly 50 multi-tiered skill and perk groups.
Self-hosting is practical when you have
- An always-on machine with dedicated-server-appropriate CPU, RAM and storage.
- A stable broadband connection and enough upload capacity for your group.
- Router and firewall access to forward the required server port.
- Automatic operating-system and game updates that you can schedule safely.
- A backup destination separate from the server drive.
- The time to troubleshoot crashes, corrupted saves, network changes and security issues.
Choose a hosted service when you value a control panel, a data-center connection, managed restarts and a simpler path to backups. Choose self-hosting only after consulting the current dedicated-server-specific requirements rather than sizing the machine from the client’s 12 GB recommendation.
How to compare providers fairly
Put every candidate into the same worksheet. Do not compare one provider’s promotional monthly price with another provider’s renewal price or a different slot count.

| Total cost and term | Same slots, billing duration, currency, taxes, renewal price and cancellation terms | Prevents a cheap introductory figure from hiding a higher recurring cost |

| Continuity | Backup frequency, retention, restore workflow and update restart requirements | Protects a long-running world from mistakes and patches |

Do not infer backup retention, restore access, migration rights or support quality from a marketing headline. Ask for the exact policy in writing.
Step-by-step: choose and configure a server
- Write the group requirements. Record platforms, peak simultaneous players, mod status, preferred region and whether crossplay is mandatory.
- Reject incompatible plans. Remove any plan that cannot support the platform combination, player count or mod policy you need.
- Compare like for like. Use the same slots, term and region when recording prices from each provider.
- Read the operational policies. Confirm backups, retention, restore steps, update timing, restart behavior, cancellation and renewal pricing.
- Subscribe to the smallest compatible capacity. Avoid paying for slots or features your group cannot use.
- Set the basic world options. Configure the server name, description, game mode and game world before inviting players.
- Decide crossplay before installing mods. On the Nitrado configuration described here, crossplay disables mods and caps the server at eight players.
- Create a recovery point. Make or verify a backup before the first public session and before each major settings or mod change.
- Test with the real players. Have each platform join, measure practical latency and confirm that permissions and saves behave as expected.
- Document administration. Store the panel login procedure, world name, backup location, mod versions and restart process where another trusted administrator can find them.
Updates, restarts and backups
Persistent worlds need an operating routine. Nitrado says its servers typically receive an update within three hours of a game release and need a restart for that update to apply. Schedule restarts when the group is offline, and announce them before they interrupt a session.
Minimum backup routine
- Verify that automated backups are actually enabled after provisioning.
- Check how often backups run and how long they are retained.
- Perform a manual backup before changing the game version, world settings or mods.
- Learn the restore path before you need it; a backup that cannot be restored is not a recovery plan.
- Keep an export outside the hosting account when the provider permits it, so cancellation or an account problem does not strand the world.
Ask whether backups cover only world files or also configuration and mod files. A restored save may still fail if the matching configuration or mod versions are missing.
Common failure modes and fixes
Players cannot join after enabling crossplay
Confirm that every player is using a supported PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series edition, that crossplay is enabled in the server settings, and that the server has been restarted. Recheck the provider’s current platform list because edition support can change.
The ninth player is rejected
The stated Nitrado crossplay limit is eight players. Remove crossplay if your group can use a compatible non-crossplay arrangement, or choose a setup whose documented limit fits the group.

Mods disappeared or stopped loading
Check whether crossplay was enabled; the provider says that setting disables mods. If the server is non-crossplay, compare the server and client mod versions, review the game update status and restore the last known-good backup if necessary.
The world rolled back
Stop making further changes, identify the latest valid backup and follow the provider’s restore procedure. After recovery, make a separate copy of the world and record what happened before re-enabling automation.
The server is slow or disconnects
Check whether the issue affects all players or only one location. Compare player latency, server region, current player count and recent updates. A displayed sample ping is not proof of your group’s actual route, and slot count alone does not guarantee performance.

An update is available but the old version remains
Follow the provider’s restart procedure. Nitrado says a restart is required for an update to apply. If the version still does not change, check the provider status information and avoid repeatedly joining with mismatched client versions.
Questions to verify before paying
- Is the quoted price a recurring renewal price or a temporary term price?
- Does the plan support the exact PC or console edition your players own?
- What is the maximum player count with and without crossplay?
- Are mods disabled by any platform or crossplay mode?
- Which regions are available, and can you move the server later?
- How often are backups made, how long are they retained and how do restores work?
- Can you download the world and configuration files if you cancel?
- How are game updates announced, and who controls the restart?
- What support channels are available when the world will not start?
For the verified Nitrado offer, the key trade-off is explicit: crossplay among the listed PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series platforms comes with an eight-player ceiling, disabled mods, Easy Anti-Cheat enabled and “Ignore EOS Sanctions” disabled. If that combination does not match your group, a cheaper plan is not the right plan.
For a persistent 7 Days to Die world, our top pick remains Godlike.Host, with its choice of 10 locations, free DDoS protection and up to three free backups a day with restore. Check the current plans against the questions above before you subscribe.
