There is no independently verified, market-wide “best” 7 Days to Die host for 2026. The right choice depends on your group’s player count, crossplay requirement, mod policy, region, backup needs, and renewal budget. A current Nitrado US storefront snapshot provides a useful reference point: 8 slots cost $12.99 for 30 days, while 10 slots cost $16.19 for 30 days. Those are dated storefront prices, not a universal market average or a guarantee of your checkout total.
Use the comparison framework below to eliminate unsuitable plans first, then compare price and administration among the remaining options.
Our top pick: Godlike.Host
Godlike.Host is our top pick for a 7 Days to Die server. It offers ten data-center locations (US West Coast, US East Coast, Canada, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Poland, Ukraine, Finland and Singapore), free DDoS protection, and up to three free backups a day with restore. Its own Pterodactyl-based game panel adds a built-in mod installer and updater, a task scheduler, sub-users with permissions and SFTP/FTP access, and support is available 24/7 by live chat or ticket. You can upgrade or downgrade from the panel with prorated billing; see the current plans for what fits your group.
What “best” means for a 7 Days to Die server
A persistent server is a recurring service, not a one-time game purchase. You are paying for an always-available game process, a player capacity, a data-center location, storage and backups, a management interface, and whatever support or update process the provider offers. A cheap monthly number can be poor value if it excludes the slot count your group needs, places the server far from most players, disables mods, or provides no practical restore path after a corrupted world.

- Premium PU Leather Dice Bag Included Each Haxtec metal dice set comes with a high-quality, durable PU leather dice bag with quick open and close drawstring design for easy dice storage and carrying
- Solid Zinc Alloy Heavy Metal Dice Each die is cast from solid zinc alloy for a satisfying heft that plastic dice can’t match – built to last for years of tabletop gaming without chipping or fading
- Easy to Read with Smooth Rounded Edges Numbers are deeply engraved with high contrast for quick reading at a glance, and every edge is smoothly rounded with no sharp points for comfortable rolling
- Why Some Dice Are Slightly Smaller (Smart Weight Management) D4, D6, D8 are intentionally sized at 14-16mm – this keeps the total dice set weight comfortable (105g, 3.7oz) while still being fully readable; full-size metal dice would be 150-180g (5.3-6.3oz), which many players find too heavy for long sessions
- Classic Antique Bronze Vibe & Perfect DND Gift Electroplated and deliberately worn for an ancient, battle-worn bronze tone that never goes out of style – an ideal D&D gift for players, dice goblins, and TTRPG collectors, perfect for rogue, warlock, or barbarian characters
Start with constraints rather than a brand ranking. Decide whether everyone must join from different platforms, how many people may be online at once, whether the world will be modded, and how much downtime is acceptable after game updates. Only then compare plans on the same term and currency.
The five decisions that narrow the field
- Platform: PC-only, console-only, or crossplay between PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series.
- Capacity: the maximum simultaneous players, including occasional guests rather than only the usual number online.
- Mods: an unmodified world, server-side additions, or a mod collection that every player must install.
- Continuity: automated backups, retention, restore controls, update timing, and restart behavior.
- Geography: a location close to the majority of players; a provider’s sample ping is not a universal measurement for your group.
Because comparable independent uptime, latency, performance, and customer-satisfaction measurements were not established, this article treats the verified offer below as a candidate to investigate—not as a proven overall winner.
Current Nitrado price snapshot for 2026
The Nitrado US 7 Days to Die page checked on October 13, 2026, displayed the following subscriptions:
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors| Displayed plan | Term | Price shown | What the figure means |
|---|---|---|---|
| 8 slots | 30 days | $12.99 | US storefront snapshot checked October 13, 2026; taxes, currency conversion, availability, and checkout total may differ. |
| 10 slots | 30 days | $16.19 | US storefront snapshot checked October 13, 2026; not a market-wide average. |
| 8 slots | 90 days | $35.49 | US storefront snapshot checked October 13, 2026; the longer-term price may not be available in every storefront. |
The 90-day 8-slot listing works out to about $11.83 per 30-day month when spread evenly across three months, but that is only an arithmetic equivalent of the displayed term. It should not be read as a guaranteed recurring monthly rate. Confirm the renewal price, taxes, cancellation rules, and whether a promotion or storefront change affects the amount before paying.
How to judge the price for your group
Divide the actual recurring charge by the number of players who will reliably use the server, not by the maximum slot count alone. An 8-slot plan can be sensible for a small private world, while a 10-slot plan may be cheaper than buying a second service if your group regularly exceeds eight simultaneous players. Conversely, paying for unused capacity does not improve world persistence or latency.
Compare like with like: the same slot count, billing duration, currency, tax treatment, renewal rate, and cancellation terms. A first-term discount, a longer prepayment, or a different regional storefront can make two apparently similar prices incomparable.
Crossplay: who can join, and what it changes
Nitrado says its 7 Days to Die crossplay option covers PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series. The provider also states that crossplay is disabled by default. Enabling it imposes four material restrictions:

- Easy Anti-Cheat is enabled.
- “Ignore EOS Sanctions” is disabled.
These are provider-documented settings, not an independent test. Check the current game and host documentation at the time you subscribe, especially if the game receives a crossplay or console-server update.
When crossplay is the right choice
Choose crossplay when the group is genuinely split between supported PC and console editions and everyone needs to enter the same world. The eight-player ceiling means a larger community must either stay on a non-crossplay configuration or use another arrangement. Ask every player which platform and edition they use before buying; “console support” is not automatically the same as support for every console generation or edition.
When to avoid crossplay
Do not enable crossplay if mods are central to the world, if more than eight people may need simultaneous access, or if your administration requires the “Ignore EOS Sanctions” option. A modded PC server and a mixed-platform server are different use cases under the documented restrictions. Make that decision before importing a world, because switching modes can require configuration changes and a restart.
Mods and server configuration
Nitrado’s FAQ says users can customize all server settings, including the server name, description, game mode, and game world, and that users may install or remove mods. Those statements describe the provider’s listed functionality; they do not establish that every third-party mod is compatible, maintained, or available on every platform.
Questions to answer before installing a mod
- Does the mod require every PC player to install matching files, or is it genuinely server-side?
- Does it alter world generation, saves, progression, or player inventories?
- Is the current game version supported after an update?
- Can the provider’s panel upload, remove, and roll back the required files?
- Will enabling crossplay disable the mod configuration?
Keep a copy of the unmodded world before a major mod change. Record the mod names and versions, and change one collection at a time so a startup failure has an identifiable cause. If a modded world will be shared with console players, assume it is incompatible with crossplay unless the provider and game documentation explicitly say otherwise.
Configuration features that matter
Useful controls include world selection, game mode, difficulty and progression settings, server naming, descriptions, scheduled restarts, and file access. The Nitrado information confirms customizable settings and mod installation/removal, but it does not by itself specify every control, permission level, import format, or migration feature. Verify those details if you need to move an existing save or delegate administration to another player.
Backups, updates, and restarts
Nitrado lists automated server backups. “Automated” does not answer the questions that matter after a mistake: how often backups run, how long they are retained, whether you can choose a restore point, whether a restore overwrites the current world, and whether backups can be downloaded. Ask for those exact terms before treating backups as a recovery plan.

Nitrado also says game-server updates typically arrive within three hours of release and require a restart before they apply. This is a provider statement, not an independently verified service-level guarantee. Plan for a restart window after updates, and warn players that unsaved activity can be interrupted.

- Identify the backup schedule and retention period in the current plan documentation.
- Confirm whether restores are self-service or require support.
- Find out whether a restore can target a selected timestamp and whether it deletes newer data.
- Document who has administrative access and who can restart the server.
- Before a major game or mod update, stop making changes, take the available backup, and note the world and mod versions.
- After the update, verify that the server starts, the world loads, and players can connect before resuming normal play.
Hardware and self-hosting versus a rented server
The official 7 Days to Die support article warns that running a dedicated server requires more RAM and heavier CPU use than ordinary client play. Its 12 GB “recommended” memory figure is a client requirement and must not be presented as a dedicated-server specification. Dedicated-server requirements are separate, so size a self-hosted machine from the game’s dedicated-server documentation and from your expected world, player count, mods, and view-distance workload.
Self-hosting can make sense when
- You already have suitable hardware that can remain powered whenever players expect access.
- You can configure inbound network access, firewall rules, and a stable address or equivalent service.
- You are comfortable applying updates, diagnosing crashes, managing save files, and testing restores.
- Your group is small enough that the hardware and connection have headroom for peak activity.
A rented service is usually simpler when
- The world must be available while the owner’s home computer is off.
- You do not want to expose or maintain a home network service.
- You value a provider panel, selectable locations, automated backups, and a hosted update process.
- You need a predictable subscription rather than managing electricity, hardware failures, and upgrades.
Self-hosting is not automatically cheaper: include hardware depreciation, electricity, upload capacity, network troubleshooting, backup storage, and your time. A rented plan is not automatically faster either; location, CPU contention, configuration, and player load still matter.
How to compare providers when adding alternatives
Only compare hosts whose current primary-source details can be checked on the same basis. Use a table like this during your shortlist:
| Axis | What to record | Why it affects the decision |
|---|---|---|
| Total cost and term | Slots, billing duration, currency, taxes, introductory price, renewal price, and cancellation terms | Prevents a low first payment from hiding a higher recurring cost. |
| Capacity and platform | Maximum players, supported PC and console editions, and any crossplay cap | Determines whether the whole group can join at once. |
| Mods and settings | Supported mod types, installation method, file access, and crossplay restrictions | Separates a vanilla mixed-platform world from a modded PC world. |
| Location and connectivity | Available regions and your group’s measured latency | Distance and routing affect responsiveness; sample pings are not universal tests. |
| Continuity | Backup frequency, retention, restore process, update timing, and restart requirements | Determines how recoverable a damaged or outdated world is. |
| Administration | Control-panel controls, file access, roles, support channels, migration and export terms | Reduces the work required to operate and eventually leave the service. |
Mark a feature as “not stated” rather than inferring it from a sales headline. In particular, do not convert “backups,” “support,” or “high performance” into a promise about retention, response time, uptime, or tick rate without specific terms.

Choosing a plan by group type
Small private group, one platform
Start with the smallest slot count that covers the expected peak, then check the server location and backup controls. If everyone uses PC and you want mods, leave crossplay disabled and confirm the mod installation workflow before committing to a long term.
Mixed PC and console group
Confirm that each player is on a supported PC, PlayStation 5, or Xbox Series edition. Budget around the documented eight-player crossplay maximum and accept that mods are disabled when crossplay is enabled. If the group may grow beyond eight, choose a non-crossplay plan or reassess the platform mix before buying.

Mod-heavy community
Prioritize file and version management over the lowest price. Verify upload and removal controls, save backups, restore behavior, and whether the provider supports the specific mod collection. Keep a tested unmodded recovery copy.
Seasonal or short-lived world
A 30-day term minimizes commitment, but compare the renewal price and cancellation process. A 90-day subscription may reduce the effective monthly arithmetic for a stable group, yet it ties up money and does not remove the need to verify backups and updates.

Large or public community
Do not assume that a 10-slot listing is suitable for a public server. Establish the real peak concurrency, moderation model, backup retention, administrative roles, and migration path first. Crossplay’s documented eight-player cap may rule out the configuration entirely.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Setup and launch checklist
The exact labels differ by provider, but a reliable launch sequence is consistent:
- Define the brief: write down platforms, peak simultaneous players, mod policy, preferred region, and monthly budget.
- Select capacity: include guests and events, not just the usual weekday count.
- Choose platform mode: enable crossplay only if the supported PC and console mix requires it and the eight-player and no-mod restrictions are acceptable.
- Set the world: choose the game world, mode, name, description, and gameplay settings your group agreed on.
- Configure access: set passwords or other available access controls, and limit administrative permissions to trusted users.
- Install mods, if applicable: do this only with crossplay disabled and after confirming version compatibility and player-side requirements.
- Create a recovery point: use the available backup function before inviting the group or changing major settings.
- Test privately: have players from each intended platform connect, load the world, and perform a short save-and-restart test.
- Record operations: note the plan, region, settings, mod versions, backup process, and who can restart or restore the server.
A successful connection test does not prove long-term performance. Repeat checks after major game updates, mod changes, or a move to a different region.
Common failure modes and fixes
Console player cannot join a PC-hosted world
Check that the server is using the supported crossplay configuration, that the console edition is supported, and that the eight-player limit has not been reached. If the server is modded, remove the crossplay assumption: the documented Nitrado setting disables mods when crossplay is enabled.

The world disappeared after a restart
Do not create a replacement world immediately. Check the selected world and configuration, review available backups, and determine whether the restore process overwrites current files. Record the incident before changing settings again.
The server is reachable but feels laggy
Measure latency from each player’s actual connection, compare the selected location with another available region if practical, and check whether the issue occurs only at peak activity. Do not treat a provider’s advertised sample ping as a group-wide result.
An update is available but the old version is still running
Nitrado says its updates typically arrive within three hours and require a restart. Wait through the stated window, perform the required restart, and confirm the game version on both server and clients. If the delay persists, consult the provider’s current status and support instructions.

Our top pick remains Godlike.Host: a game-server specialist with a choice of ten locations, free DDoS protection, backups with restore and a panel built for managing mods and sub-users. Check the current plans against your slot count, location and mod needs before you commit.
For a small, mostly vanilla group, the verified Nitrado US snapshot is a concrete starting point: 8 slots at $12.99 for 30 days or 10 slots at $16.19 for 30 days, with an 8-slot 90-day listing at $35.49 on October 13, 2026. Its listed automated backups, selectable locations, configurable settings, mod controls, and stated update process may fit a conventional hosted world.
It is not a universal winner. Crossplay limits the server to eight players, disables mods, enables Easy Anti-Cheat, and disables “Ignore EOS Sanctions.” The prices can change, and the available evidence does not establish independent performance, uptime, support quality, or customer satisfaction. Choose it—or any alternative—only after matching those constraints to your group and confirming the current renewal, backup, console, and migration terms.
