Short answer: The Wooting 60HE v2 is the strongest current choice if you specifically want Hall effect sensing in a genuine 60% gaming layout. RTINGS lists it as its best 60% keyboard, and PC Gamer names it its best 60% gaming keyboard. Those are editorial recommendations, not a guarantee that it suits every desk or game.
The reason it leads is the combination of configurable magnetic-key behavior, Rapid Trigger, adjustable actuation, configuration software and a compact case. The trade-offs are equally important: it is wired only, omits many dedicated keys, and its aluminum build carried a substantially higher review-time price than the ABS version. This guide explains exactly what those compromises mean and how the v2 compares with a similarly featured optical board.

Why the v2 is the compact Hall effect lead
Hall effect switches measure the position of a magnet as a key moves instead of relying on a conventional metal contact to close a circuit. Because the sensor can read a continuous position, the firmware can decide exactly where a key actuates and when it resets. That is what makes adjustable actuation and Rapid Trigger possible on this board.
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Rapid Trigger changes the usual fixed reset point. A key can reset as soon as it begins moving upward, allowing a quick release and re-press without waiting for a conventional switch to travel back to its programmed reset position. In a movement-heavy game, that can make counter-strafing or repeated directional taps feel more immediate. It does not improve aim, network latency or frame rate, and the benefit depends on your settings and technique.
The v2 packages those controls in a real 60% footprint rather than a tenkeyless or 65% case. That saves desk width and leaves more room for a low-sensitivity mouse sweep. It also means the board removes keys many people use every day. The compact advantage is genuine, but it is not free.
What “60%” removes from your desk
A 60% board keeps the alphanumeric block, modifiers and a compact navigation area while dropping the dedicated function row, arrow cluster, navigation block and number pad. The missing commands remain available through a function layer, keyboard shortcuts or remapping, but they are no longer one-key actions.
Delete, arrows and navigation
PC Gamer specifically noted that the v2 has no dedicated Delete key. You can use a function-plus-Backspace combination or assign Delete to another key. Arrow keys and Home, End, Page Up and Page Down likewise require a layer or remap. If you edit documents, code, spreadsheets or timelines for hours, count those extra keystrokes before choosing the smaller case.
The split-spacebar option
The board can be ordered with a standard spacebar arrangement or an optional split spacebar. With the split configuration, one half can become a programmable key, giving you a convenient layer, arrow or Delete trigger without adding another row. The trade-off is a different thumb position and a potentially unfamiliar typing feel. Keep the normal spacebar if you value conventional muscle memory; choose the split option only when the extra programmable position solves a real workflow problem.

Who benefits from the footprint
- Competitive players who need maximum mouse room.
- Travel or small-desk users who can work comfortably with layers.
- People who already use keyboard shortcuts for navigation and media control.
Users who rely on dedicated navigation, media or function keys should start with a larger layout. A 65% or 75% model can retain arrows and some navigation keys while remaining considerably smaller than a full-size keyboard.
Hall effect is not the same as optical analog
Feature names can make different technologies sound interchangeable. The Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini is a 60% board with analog optical switches, not Hall effect switches. Razer specifies a 0.1–4.0 mm actuation range and says its Rapid Trigger can reset after only 0.1 mm of upward movement. Those capabilities are similar to the v2’s headline features, but the sensing method is optical rather than magnetic.
| Question | Wooting 60HE v2 | Razer Huntsman V3 Pro Mini |
|---|---|---|
| Physical layout | 60% | 60% |
| Sensing technology | Hall effect magnetic sensing | Analog optical switches |
| Adjustable actuation | Yes; Wooting states 0.1 mm increments | Yes; Razer specifies 0.1–4.0 mm |
| Rapid Trigger | Yes | Yes; Razer states 0.1 mm upward reset movement |
| What this comparison proves | It is a Hall effect option | It offers comparable behavior without being Hall effect |
If “Hall effect” is a hard requirement, do not treat the two models as interchangeable simply because both advertise Rapid Trigger. If your priority is adjustable analog behavior and a 60% shell rather than the underlying sensor type, optical boards belong in the wider comparison.
Build, case choices and typing feel
PC Gamer’s reviewed v2 uses Lekker Tikken switches, an FR4 plate and Poron foam. The aluminum pre-assembled configuration gives the board a more substantial case, while the ABS version reduces the entry price and weight. Neither case changes the fundamental 60% layout or the need for layers.
Case material changes how a board feels on the desk and how much you pay, but it is not a direct performance specification. Aluminum can feel denser and more rigid; ABS can be lighter and less expensive. The evidence available here does not establish a universal sound or comfort winner, so choose based on portability, desk stability and budget rather than assuming the heavier case is automatically faster.

Software and configuration that matter in practice
The v2’s value comes from being configurable rather than merely having an analog sensor. Use the manufacturer’s configuration software to set actuation, assign functions, create layers and save profiles for different games or applications. The exact menu names can change with software updates, but the decisions below remain the important ones.

Set a conservative starting point
- Connect the keyboard by USB and open the current Wooting configuration software.
- Create a profile for your main game or application instead of changing the default blindly.
- Set a moderate actuation point first. Extremely shallow settings can cause accidental presses while you are learning the board.
- Enable Rapid Trigger only on keys where a quick reset is useful, such as movement keys, then test before applying it broadly.
- Assign a function layer for arrows, Delete and other commands you use frequently.
- Save the profile and switch back to a typing-oriented profile when writing or editing.
There is no single correct actuation distance. A player who rests heavily on keys may need more travel to avoid unintended input; a light-touch player may prefer a shallower point. Change one variable at a time and use the board for several matches before judging it.
Use profiles instead of one extreme setting
A low actuation point can feel excellent for rapid game inputs and frustrating for ordinary typing. Separate profiles let you keep a responsive movement setup without turning every email into a series of accidental characters. Per-key remapping also lets you put Delete, arrows or a layer trigger under a key position that your thumbs and pinkies can reach naturally.
Check the split-spacebar decision before purchase
The split option is a hardware choice, not merely a software toggle. Decide whether the additional programmable thumb key is worth changing your spacebar feel. If you alternate between shared computers or frequently type on other keyboards, the standard spacebar is the less disruptive choice.
Polling, latency and what the numbers mean
Wooting advertises true 8 kHz polling and input speed of around 0.125 ms for the 60HE v2. Those figures describe the company’s stated capability; they are not an independent test result in the available review evidence. Polling rate is also only one part of total response time, which includes switch sensing, firmware processing, USB transfer, the game engine, display scanout and network conditions.

- Please Note: To reach 10Gbps speed, keep the cable under 3.3 ft. For USB A Male to USB C adapters, try flipping the USB C connector. USB C Male to USB A adapters support bidirectional 10Gbps transfer within 3.3 ft
For most buyers, consistent actuation and a stable Rapid Trigger implementation matter more than chasing a headline number. An 8 kHz setting can increase USB report frequency, but it cannot compensate for a poorly configured profile or a game that processes input at a lower cadence.
Independent recommendations and player-usage figures
RTINGS currently selects the Wooting 60HE v2 as its best 60% keyboard, while PC Gamer calls it its best 60% gaming keyboard. These statements establish that two independent editorial guides recommend it for the compact category; they do not establish that it is the best keyboard for every user, layout or budget.
Wooting’s product page presents ProSettings.net figures dated June 2026: 20.6% of 137 Valorant players, 17.71% of 17 Rainbow Six Siege players, 27.51% of 252 Counter-Strike 2 players and 15.41% of 51 Fortnite players were shown using the brand’s keyboards. These are small, game-specific samples presented by the manufacturer, not overall market-share data or proof that the keyboard improves performance.

In PC Gamer’s review period, the aluminum pre-assembled v2 was listed at $240 in the United States, the ABS pre-assembled version at $180, and the older 60HE+ at $155. Treat those amounts as time-stamped reference points. A current checkout total may differ because of region, tax, shipping, stock and configuration.

| Budget question | How to decide |
|---|---|
| Can you accept ABS? | The review-time $180 ABS configuration was $60 below the $240 aluminum version, making case material the clearest way to reduce cost among the cited v2 options. |
| Should you buy the older 60HE+? | It was listed at $155 in the same review context, but availability and support are not established here. Confirm current stock, firmware support and warranty before choosing it over the v2. |
| Is wireless required? | No. The v2 is wired only, so it is unsuitable if cable-free desk use is a requirement. |
| Is a 60% layout enough? | Only if layers and remaps cover your daily Delete, arrow, navigation and function-key needs. |
Premium pricing makes the v2 easiest to justify for someone who will actively use adjustable actuation and Rapid Trigger. If those controls will stay at factory defaults, a conventional mechanical 60% keyboard may deliver the compactness without paying for features you will not configure.

Who should buy the Wooting 60HE v2
- Buy it if you want Hall effect sensing, a true 60% footprint and configurable actuation in one board.
- Choose the ABS version when the lower review-time price and lighter case matter more than an aluminum enclosure.
- Choose the split spacebar when an extra programmable thumb position has a defined use in your layout.
- Look at a larger board when dedicated arrows, navigation keys or a function row are central to your work.
- Look elsewhere when wireless connectivity is non-negotiable.
- Compare optical models too when Rapid Trigger and adjustable actuation matter but Hall effect technology itself does not.
Purchase and setup checklist
- Confirm that the listing is the 60HE v2 and identify the case material, spacebar format and pre-assembled status.
- Check the seller’s current US or regional price, stock, shipping, taxes and warranty; the cited review prices are not current quotes.
- Verify that a wired USB connection fits your desk and tournament setup.
- Write down the missing keys you use most, then plan their function-layer or remapped locations.
- Install the current configuration software from the manufacturer’s official support channel.
- Create separate typing and gaming profiles before experimenting with very shallow actuation.
- Test every remapped key, the function layer, Rapid Trigger behavior and both spacebar halves if you selected the split option.
- Keep a fallback profile with conventional actuation so you can recover quickly if an aggressive setting causes mis-presses.
Troubleshooting common 60HE v2 problems
Accidental key presses
Raise the actuation point slightly, reduce Rapid Trigger sensitivity or move the function assignment to a less easily brushed key. Test one change at a time so you know which setting solved the problem.
Missing Delete or arrow keys
Confirm that the function layer is enabled and that the intended remap is saved to the active profile. If you switch profiles automatically per application, check that the correct profile loaded.
The keyboard feels slower than expected
Do not judge the board by polling rate alone. Check the USB connection, active profile, actuation setting and the game’s own input behavior. Wooting’s approximately 0.125 ms figure is a manufacturer claim, not a promise of identical end-to-end latency in every system.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsThe split spacebar feels unfamiliar
Give your thumbs time to adapt, then verify that the secondary half is mapped as intended. If the arrangement continues to interfere with normal typing, use the standard spacebar configuration on a future purchase; the hardware choice is not fully reversible through software.
Verdict
For a buyer whose requirements are specifically “Hall effect” and “60%,” the Wooting 60HE v2 is the most defensible compact lead in 2026. Its magnetic sensing, adjustable actuation, Rapid Trigger, software profiles and strong independent guide recommendations give it a clear case. The decision is not automatic: the wired-only connection, missing dedicated keys and premium aluminum price can outweigh those advantages. Buy it for the configurable input behavior, not merely for the small case, and choose a larger or optical alternative when your layout or technology requirements point elsewhere.
