The best 360 degree dash cam depends on what you mean by “360.” A panoramic camera records a very wide image from one lens, while a multi-camera system uses separate front, rear, left, and right channels (and sometimes cabin-facing views). Choose the panoramic design for a single, unobstructed view around the vehicle; choose four-channel hardware when identifiable detail at each side or dedicated cabin coverage matters more. The models below are manufacturer-documented examples, not the result of independent head-to-head testing.
What “360 degree dash cam” actually describes
“360 degree” is not a universal technical category. Product pages use the phrase for at least two different camera architectures, and the footage, installation, storage needs, and parking features can differ substantially.
One panoramic lens
A panoramic unit records a very wide field from a single camera mounted inside the vehicle. The CARMATE d’Action 360 DC3000, for example, lists a horizontal 360° and vertical 194° viewing angle. That can show events to the sides and behind the camera without running cables to several external modules.
Recommended Free Tools
The trade-off is pixel distribution. One sensor must cover a much larger scene than a conventional forward-facing camera. Objects such as plates occupy fewer pixels, and cropping a small region can reveal less usable detail than a conventional full-HD image. CARMATE says of the DC3000: “Due to the wide 360-degree recording range, magnifying and displaying a license plate from one particular section of the footage will result in a lower resolution compared to an image from a full HD traditional dashboard camera.” It also says plate identification cannot be guaranteed in every circumstance. That warning applies to the cited panoramic design; it should not be generalized to every multi-camera system.
#1 Best Overall
- True 4-Channel 360° Coverage – IIWEY N6 simultaneously records STARVIS 2K (1440p) video from the front, rear, and both sides for all-around coverage. Ultra-wide viewing angles (170° front/rear, 150° sides) and adjustable side cameras help reduce blind spots, while infrared night vision improves nighttime visibility. This dash camera must be connected to vehicle power source when in use, you can use the car charger included in the box, or you can buy the hardwire kit to connect to car fuse to use (ASIN: B0DHJNRPB9, for 24/7 parking mode). Please confirm this requirement before purchase to avoid misunderstanding.
- 48-Hour Parking Surveillance (Hardwire Required) – Two smart modes guard your vehicle with the ignition off. 1,Time-Lapse at 1/3/5 fps records continuously for up to ~48 hours while conserving storage. 2,Impact Detection auto-captures and locks a 10-second clip on bumps or tampering. Parking Mode requires the IIWEY hardwire kit (ASIN B0DHJNRPB9; sold separately, not included). If no need Parking Mode, the included car charger is sufficient for daily driving use.
- Wi-Fi 6 (5.8 Ghz) Speed + Built-In GPS – Up to ~20 MB/s for fast in-app preview/download and quick sharing (also supports 2.4 GHz). GPS logs speed and route for playback on map in the iOS/Android app or PC viewer. Tip: long-press “◀” to enable Wi-Fi; auto-off after ~5 min helps reduce heat and power draw. N6 dash cam and hardwire kit fit for turck, car, suv and etc.
- Loop Recording + 128 Gb Card Included – Ready to use out of the box. Seamless loop saves in manageable segments and overwrites the oldest files when full, so recording never stops. G-Sensor Emergency Lock protects critical clips from overwrite during sudden braking or collisions.
Several dedicated camera channels
A four-channel layout assigns separate cameras to the front, rear, left, and right. Each view can devote its resolution to a narrower part of the scene. Rexing’s R4-RD is described as four 1080p cameras, while IIWEY describes the N5 and N6 as four-channel systems. Side modules on these examples can be adjusted; Rexing says its side cameras can rotate inward for cabin monitoring, and IIWEY describes adjustable side cameras as well.
Multiple cameras require more hardware, more wiring, and more careful placement. They can nevertheless be the better fit when side-impact evidence, lane-side incidents, or a clear view of passengers is more important than the simplicity of one panoramic module.
Panoramic versus four-channel coverage
| Decision factor | Panoramic approach | Multi-camera approach |
|---|---|---|
| Physical layout | One wide-angle camera; no separate rear or side camera cables on a single-camera installation | Distinct front, rear, and side modules; additional cables and mounting points |
| What is recorded | A continuous ultra-wide view that can include much of the cabin and exterior around the lens | Separate directional views; channels can be aimed at road sides, rear traffic, or the cabin |
| Detail in a cropped area | May be lower because one sensor spreads pixels over a very large scene; CARMATE explicitly cautions about plate magnification on the DC3000 | Each channel concentrates pixels on a narrower area, although actual clarity still depends on sensor, lens, exposure, and compression |
| Cabin coverage | Can appear naturally in the panoramic frame, but occupants may be small or distorted depending on placement | Side cameras can be rotated inward on the documented Rexing and IIWEY designs for a more deliberate cabin view |
| Installation | Usually simpler hardware, but the camera must be positioned so the panoramic field is not blocked | More routing, connectors, and mounting decisions; rear and side cables must reach the recording unit |
| Best use case | Drivers who want broad situational context with one camera body | Drivers prioritizing identifiable front, rear, and side events or adjustable cabin monitoring |
Neither architecture is automatically superior. Compare the actual channel layout and sample footage supplied for the exact model instead of treating “360” as a guarantee of spherical or stitched video.

How the documented models differ
CARMATE d’Action 360 DC3000: broadest single-camera perspective
The DC3000 is the clearest example of the panoramic interpretation of 360-degree recording. Its square recording modes are listed as 2880×2880 “4K equivalent” and 1440×1440, rather than a conventional 16:9 frame. The manufacturer lists a maximum 27.5 frames per second and says the frame rate can be adjusted at high temperatures. It recommends Full HD in some continuous or high-temperature circumstances, so buyers who expect to leave the camera recording for long periods should read the mode limitations rather than assuming the highest setting is always available.
GPS, GLONASS, and Michibiki support can add positioning data to clips, but satellite metadata does not increase image detail. The specified 16GB–128GB UHS-I, speed-class-3-or-higher card range is narrow enough that a card outside those limits should not be assumed compatible. Parked recording is not automatic with the camera alone: CARMATE lists the DC200 Parking Option as required.
Rexing R4-RD: four directional channels with a built-in parking monitor
The R4-RD’s defining feature is separation: front, rear, left, and right cameras are described as 1080p channels. The side units can rotate inward, allowing the same hardware to monitor the cabin instead of keeping both lenses aimed through the side windows. That flexibility is useful for rideshare, family, or security situations, but it means the final coverage depends on how the installer sets each module.

IIWEY N5: four channels with included 128GB storage
The N5 is described as a four-channel camera with adjustable side units and multiple resolution modes. The supplied 128GB card reduces the need to buy storage immediately, and the stated support for cards up to 256GB can extend retention if the camera’s recording bitrate and overwrite behavior permit it. Wi-Fi is included for local access.
Its parking modes have a decisive installation condition: the manufacturer says a separately purchased hardwire kit is required. A camera powered only from a switched accessory socket generally cannot continue recording after the ignition is off, so check the kit, fuse location, low-voltage protection, and installation method before choosing the N5 for overnight surveillance.
IIWEY N6: time-lapse parking as the differentiator
The N6 uses the same basic four-channel front/rear/side concept but adds GPS and Wi-Fi 6 in the manufacturer’s description. It includes a 128GB card and supports up to 256GB. With the separately purchased hardwire kit, IIWEY states that time-lapse parking recording can run for approximately 48 hours. That is a stated capability, not a controlled endurance result; actual duration depends on battery condition, temperature, card use, and the camera’s power settings.

Time-lapse parking is different from continuous full-frame recording: fewer frames are captured, which reduces storage and power demand but may omit the precise moment of a fast event. If impact-triggered clips or full-motion evidence is your priority, verify which parking sub-mode the N6 offers and how it behaves when the hardwire kit detects low voltage.

CARMATE d’Action 360 DC3600R: two-camera alternative
The DC3600R is neither a single panoramic lens nor a four-channel array. CARMATE describes a two-camera arrangement with a virtual front-camera view and a rear camera, plus GPS and optional parking mode. Its 27.5 fps setting is described as helping avoid discoloration caused by LED traffic-light flicker. The two-camera architecture can suit a driver who wants dedicated rear coverage without installing four side modules, but it does not provide the same independently aimed left-and-right channels as a four-camera system.
Parking mode: check power before buying
“Parking mode” can mean motion-triggered clips, impact-triggered clips, buffered recording, or time-lapse capture. These modes are not interchangeable, and they often require the vehicle to supply power while the ignition is off.
- Accessory requirement: The DC3000 lists the DC200 Parking Option; the IIWEY N5 and N6 list a separately purchased hardwire kit. The R4-RD is described as having an integrated motion parking monitor.
- Recording behavior: Ask whether the mode records continuously, wakes on motion or impact, or captures time-lapse frames. The N6’s approximately 48-hour statement applies specifically to time-lapse operation with its hardwire kit.
- Battery protection: A hardwire installation should include low-voltage cut-off or another protection method suited to the vehicle. Verify the threshold and whether it is configurable.
- Installation safety: Fuse selection, cable routing around airbags, and trim removal are vehicle-specific. Follow the camera and vehicle service instructions or use a qualified installer.
- Climate and heat: High cabin temperatures can change available recording modes. CARMATE documents frame-rate and mode limitations for the DC3000, so do not assume a maximum setting will operate unchanged in every climate.
Storage, cards, and retrieving evidence
Storage compatibility is model-specific. The DC3000 accepts microSDHC or microSDXC cards from 16GB through 128GB and specifies UHS-I with speed class 3 or higher. The N5 and N6 are described as including 128GB cards and supporting up to 256GB. The R4-RD’s card capacity and speed requirement were not stated by the manufacturer, so consult its current manual before purchasing media.
Higher capacity does not automatically mean better evidence. A card fills according to channel count, resolution, frame rate, bitrate, audio, and parking settings. Four simultaneous channels can consume storage faster than one panoramic stream even when each channel has a lower nominal resolution. Enable loop recording only after confirming how protected or event files are preserved; otherwise an important clip can be overwritten.
Best Value
- 4-Channel Dash Cam for Complete Vehicle Coverage: This dash cam is equipped with four Full HD 1080P cameras, capturing footage of the front, rear, left, and right sides of your vehicle simultaneously. The adjustable front cameras enhance visibility and offer flexible recording angles, including interior footage.
- Time-Lapse Recording & Parking Mode: With time-lapse recording, 60 minutes of footage is compressed into 1 minute, saving memory card space. Activate parking mode with the optional ACC hardwire kit (sold separately) for security when your vehicle is parked.
- Enhanced Night Vision & WDR Technology: The dash cam features advanced night vision and Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) technology for clear, balanced footage, even in low-light conditions. Eight infrared lights ensure optimal visibility, and WDR adjusts exposure to capture detailed images in varying lighting.
- Optional GPS for Real-Time Vehicle Tracking: Purchase the GPS logger (sold separately) to add location, speed, and time tracking, providing a visual representation of your vehicle's route. This feature is perfect for documenting travel details in case of incidents.
- 5GHz Wi-Fi & App Integration: Share videos easily via Wi-Fi using the mobile app for both iOS and Android devices. This feature allows for quick video downloads and sharing on your preferred platforms.
Wi-Fi, where listed, is primarily a convenience for previewing or transferring clips to a phone. It does not replace a card reader or computer backup when a long incident file must be preserved. GPS adds time and location metadata when satellites are available, but it does not validate the driver’s account or improve the camera’s optical resolution.
Installation and vehicle fit
Mounting a panoramic camera
Place the lens where the windshield, mirror, sun visors, or tint do not block the intended field. A panoramic image can include large portions of the interior, so clean glass and a level mount matter. Check the preview from the driver’s normal seating position and confirm that the camera is not aimed at a reflective dashboard surface.
Installing multiple channels
Plan cable routes before sticking mounts in place. Rear and side cameras may need to pass through hatch or door trim, and cables must stay clear of curtain airbags, window mechanisms, and steering components. Mark each connector during installation so a side channel is not accidentally swapped with the rear input.
Power and environmental checks
Confirm whether the camera uses a switched accessory outlet, a hardwire kit, or a dedicated parking accessory. Check connector type, fuse rating, low-voltage protection, and whether the manufacturer specifies a temperature range or a high-temperature recording mode. A physically compatible plug does not prove that a parking kit or memory card is electrically or operationally supported.
Which setup fits your situation?
- Choose a panoramic design if you want broad context with one camera body, prefer less cable routing, and accept that a small object in the frame may not retain the detail of a conventional forward camera.
- Choose four channels if side impacts, rear incidents, or independently aimed views are central to your use case and you can accommodate a more involved installation.
- Choose adjustable side cameras if you may alternate between exterior side coverage and cabin monitoring. Lock the mounts after positioning and verify the resulting view in daylight and at night.
- Prioritize an integrated parking monitor when you want the fewest separate power accessories, while still checking how the system protects the vehicle battery.
- Prioritize a hardwire-compatible model when parked surveillance is essential and you are prepared to buy and install the required kit.
- Prefer a two-camera layout if dedicated rear coverage is important but four side channels would be excessive for your vehicle or installation plan.
Buyer’s checklist
- Write down the areas you actually need recorded: forward road, rear traffic, both sides, cabin, or a combination.
- Identify whether the product uses one panoramic lens, two cameras, or four independent channels.
- Read the per-channel resolution and frame-rate modes, not only the headline “360” label.
- Ask how a cropped plate or sign appears in the real recording; a wide field can reduce detail in a small region.
- Confirm the exact parking mode: motion, impact, buffered, continuous, or time-lapse.
- List every required power accessory and determine whether installation affects airbags, trim, or the vehicle warranty.
- Match the card type, capacity, interface, and speed class to the camera’s specification. Do not assume a 256GB card works because another model accepts one.
- Check whether Wi-Fi, GPS, or a desktop viewer is included and what each feature actually does.
- Verify camera dimensions and mounting positions in your vehicle, including rear hatch or door cable paths.
- Review the manufacturer’s current manual, warranty, firmware notes, price, and stock status before ordering.
What the available evidence can—and cannot—establish
The manufacturer pages establish specifications and feature claims. They do not provide a controlled, independent comparison of night exposure, plate capture, heat endurance, compression, parking-trigger accuracy, or failure rates across these models. No independent statistic in the available product information shows that one architecture prevents more collisions or captures a higher percentage of incidents.
Use the specifications to narrow the design, then inspect footage recorded in conditions similar to yours. For a purchase decision, the most consequential checks are the camera layout, the detail available in the area you need to identify, the power required for parked recording, and the exact storage limits.
Bottom line
There is no single “best” 360 degree dash cam for every vehicle. A panoramic unit such as the DC3000 emphasizes one-camera, all-around context but carries an explicit warning about plate detail when footage is magnified. Four-channel options such as the R4-RD, N5, and N6 provide separately aimed front, rear, and side views, with adjustable side cameras on the documented examples; they demand more installation work and, for the IIWEY models, a separate hardwire kit for parking modes. The two-camera DC3600R sits between those designs. Decide the coverage you need first, then verify parking power, card compatibility, and installation requirements for the exact model.
