Op een iPhone pas je het beltoon- en meldingsvolume aan via Instellingen > Horen en voelen > Beltoon en meldingen. Wil je dit volume met de zijknoppen regelen, controleer dan ook Wijzig met knoppen. Op een iPad documenteert Apple de volumeknoppen en geluidsinstellingen, maar niet dezelfde gecombineerde volumeschuifregelaar als op de iPhone.
Beltoon- en meldingsvolume aanpassen op iPhone
- Open Instellingen.
- Tik op Horen en voelen.
- Versleep de schuifregelaar Beltoon en meldingen naar het gewenste niveau.
Deze schuifregelaar regelt het belsignaal en meldingsgeluiden. Je kunt ook kiezen welke beltoon, berichttoon of andere waarschuwing klinkt en haptische patronen wijzigen via de geluidsinstellingen. Een toon kiezen verandert niet op zichzelf het volumeniveau. Apple legt uit hoe je geluiden en trillingen op de iPhone wijzigt.
Waarom de zijknoppen het mediavolume veranderen
De fysieke volumeknoppen kunnen verschillende soorten volume regelen. Schakel Wijzig met knoppen in of uit in Instellingen > Horen en voelen om te bepalen of de knoppen ook het belsignaalvolume aanpassen. Wanneer media wordt afgespeeld, regelen de knoppen het mediavolume. Apple beschrijft hoe belsignaal- en meldingsgeluiden werken; de afzonderlijke geluidsinstellingen staan ook in Apple’s uitleg over iPhone-geluiden en haptiek.

Standaard volgen alarmen en timers, en ook waarschuwingen en systeemgeluiden, het belsignaalvolume. In de iPhone-gids kun je deze groepen afzonderlijk instellen: schakel onder de gewenste groep Pas beltoonvolume aan uit en versleep de bijbehorende volumeregelaar. Zo kun je het belsignaalvolume behouden zonder dat het niveau voor die groep eraan gekoppeld blijft. Deze specifieke optie is gedocumenteerd voor iPhone; ga er niet zonder meer van uit dat dezelfde bediening op elk iPad-model beschikbaar is. Raadpleeg Apple’s iPhone-gids voor geluidsinstellingen.

Wat je op iPad kunt aanpassen
Apple documenteert dat de iPad-volumeknoppen het volume regelen tijdens het luisteren naar muziek en het bekijken van video’s of spelen van games. Op sommige modellen zit er ook een zijschakelaar waarmee je geluiden en meldingen kunt dempen. Bij veel modellen kan de functie van de volumeknoppen veranderen wanneer je de iPad draait. Op geschikte modellen en softwareversies is er de instelling Vaste positie volumeregelaars om die oriëntatie-afhankelijke werking aan te passen. Apple geeft uitleg over volumeknoppen en bediening op iPad.
Je kunt op iPhone en iPad wel tonen en beltonen kiezen via Instellingen > Horen en voelen, maar Apple’s geraadpleegde iPad-instructies beschrijven geen gecombineerde schuifregelaar voor beltoon- en meldingsvolume zoals op de iPhone. Zie de instructie voor die route daarom niet als een gegarandeerde stap voor elke iPad. Apple’s uitleg over tonen en beltonen maakt dit onderscheid relevant.

Als meldingen stil blijven
- Controleer op iPhone of de stille modus actief is en of het volume niet helemaal laag staat. Beide kunnen ervoor zorgen dat je geen meldingsgeluiden hoort.
- Controleer het geluid voor de betreffende app via Instellingen > Meldingen > [app] > Geluiden, als die optie voor de app beschikbaar is.
- Controleer of meldingen voor de app zijn toegestaan en of een Focus-instelling bepaalt welke meldingen je ontvangt. Dit zijn meldingsinstellingen, geen manieren om het algemene beltoonvolume aan te passen. Apple beschrijft instellingen voor meldingen op iPhone.
Geen accessoire nodig
Je hebt geen fysiek accessoire nodig om het beltoon- of meldingsvolume te wijzigen: gebruik de ingebouwde instellingen en, waar passend, de volumeknoppen. Gekochte beltonen zijn een optionele vorm van personalisatie, geen methode om het volume te regelen. De beschikbaarheid van de Tone Store kan per land of regio verschillen. Apple’s gids over tonen en beltonen licht de opties toe.
