The Beko BFR630DX is a large Australian-market four-door refrigerator with a convertible Multizone compartment, plumbed internal water dispenser and automatic ice. It is best treated as a used-appliance evaluation rather than a current retail recommendation: CHOICE marks the model discontinued, and detailed independent test results are not publicly visible. If you find one, verify its condition, serial-number support, installation clearances and water connection before paying.
What the Beko BFR630DX is and whether it is still available
The BFR630DX launched in July 2017 as a stainless-steel, four-door refrigerator for the Australian market. Its design is aimed at households that want a wide fresh-food area, a substantial freezer section and the option to turn one lower compartment into extra fridge space. Beko’s product sheet identifies the appliance as the BFR630DX 626 L Stainless Steel Four Door Fridge with Internal Water & Automatic Ice.
Availability is the first issue for a prospective buyer. CHOICE labels the model discontinued on its BFR630DX page and shows a listed price of A$2,999. That figure is the price displayed on the review page, not a current offer or evidence that new stock remains. A second-hand listing should therefore be judged on the individual appliance, not on the original launch specification. Ask for the model and serial plate, proof of purchase if warranty is claimed, photographs of seals and shelves, and confirmation that the dispenser and ice maker work.

Beko also states on the product sheet that specifications are correct at printing and may change without notice. Treat the figures below as the published Australian specification for this model, then confirm the label on the actual refrigerator you are considering.

Gross volume includes spaces that may not be usable for food, while net volume is the more practical figure for comparing storage. The two sets of numbers should not be mixed when comparing this refrigerator with another model.
How the interior is organised
The four-door layout separates the upper fresh-food area from the lower freezer and Multizone drawers. Door-by-door access can reduce the amount of cold air lost when you open only one side, but the layout also creates more seals, rails and moving parts than a conventional top-freezer design. Check that every drawer travels smoothly and that the centre seals meet evenly; a stiff rail or torn gasket can become an expensive ownership problem on a discontinued appliance.
Multizone flexibility
The lower-right 77 L compartment can operate as either a fridge or a freezer. Use it as a freezer when you need additional frozen-food capacity, or as a refrigerator for drinks, prepared meals and fresh produce during periods when the main fridge is crowded. The control panel and the model-family manual explain the changeover procedure; allow the compartment to reach its new temperature before loading perishable food. A mode change is not an instant temperature switch, so do not move highly perishable items until the display and an independent thermometer indicate a safe temperature.

Fresh-food features
Beko lists an Everfresh+ crisper, Active Fresh Blue Light and NeoFrost dual cooling. The product sheet claims Everfresh+ keeps produce fresh up to three times longer than a normal crisper, citing SGS comparisons on broccoli and lettuce. It separately claims produce can be preserved up to 30% better with Active Fresh Blue Light, citing FRPERC and TÜBİTAK comparisons on tomatoes and red and green peppers. These are manufacturer comparisons with limited published test detail, not independent performance guarantees. Storage time still depends on produce quality, packaging, temperature, humidity and how often the door is opened.
Water and ice
The dispenser is inside the refrigerator rather than through the door, and the ice maker is automatic. Because both functions depend on a water supply, installation needs a suitable connection, accessible shut-off point and enough hose length for the appliance to be moved for cleaning or service. Follow the exact connection instructions for your model-family manual and local plumbing rules; do not assume that an existing hose or fitting is compatible. After installation, flush the line as instructed and discard the first batches of ice if the manual calls for it.
Installation: body dimensions are not clearance dimensions
Beko’s unpackaged measurements describe the appliance itself. CHOICE’s installation guidance for this model lists approximately 184 cm high, 101 cm wide and 81 cm deep. Those larger figures represent recommended space for ventilation, door and drawer movement, and practical installation rather than the metal cabinet alone. A kitchen opening that is only a few millimetres wider than the refrigerator can prevent the doors from opening far enough to remove shelves or drawers.

Before delivery or collection, measure the full route from entrance to final position. Include doorways, lift doors, hallway turns, stair landings and the height of any threshold. Check that the doors can open without striking a wall and that lower drawers can extend fully. Leave the ventilation space specified in the manual, keep the cabinet level, and avoid placing the appliance beside a heat source or in direct sun. If the water connection is behind the cabinet, position the shut-off valve where it remains reachable.

The published consumption is 605 kWh per year with a 2.5-star rating. That is a standardized label figure, not a promise of your household’s electricity bill. Actual use varies with room temperature, door openings, food loading, temperature settings, ice production and whether the Multizone compartment is operated as a freezer. To estimate running cost, multiply the label’s annual kilowatt-hours by your current electricity tariff and state the tariff period; do not present a dollar figure without that assumption.
The appliance is specified for 220–240 V at 50 Hz with a maximum current intensity of 0.80 A. Use a correctly earthed outlet and follow the manual’s electrical instructions. Do not use an extension lead, damaged cord or overloaded power board. R600a is a flammable refrigerant used in a sealed system; never pierce tubing or attempt compressor work yourself. A qualified refrigerator technician should handle refrigerant, electrical and sealed-system repairs.

What independent testing actually establishes
CHOICE records a 2019 test year for the BFR630DX. Its public page identifies test categories such as temperature stability, evenness, temperature range, freshness, noise and running cost, but the model’s expert rating and detailed results are restricted to members. No public score supports calling the refrigerator either a test winner or a poor performer.
That limitation matters when comparing this model with a currently sold refrigerator. You can compare the published capacity, energy label and features, but you cannot responsibly infer cooling quality, noise level or ten-year running cost from the existence of the CHOICE page. If those factors determine your decision, obtain the full test data through CHOICE or inspect the individual used appliance with a thermometer and listening test.
How to evaluate a used BFR630DX
- Confirm identity. Photograph the model and serial label inside the cabinet or door frame. Make sure it reads BFR630DX rather than a visually similar model-family variant.
- Check physical condition. Look for rust, dents around hinges, cracked shelves, warped drawer fronts, broken rollers and hardened door gaskets. Stainless-steel marks are cosmetic; a cabinet that is not square can affect sealing and alignment.
- Test cooling. Run the refrigerator long enough to reach its normal operating state. Place thermometers in the fresh-food and freezer sections and look for stable readings rather than a brief cold burst after the door has been closed.
- Test every mode. Operate the Multizone section in its current mode, then confirm that the control panel allows the documented fridge/freezer changeover. Do not switch modes with food inside.
- Test water and ice. Dispense water, inspect the inlet hose and connections for leaks, and confirm that the ice maker fills, freezes and harvests. A silent ice maker may simply be switched off, but it can also indicate a failed valve or control board.
- Listen and inspect. Some compressor and fan noise is normal. Repeated clicking, grinding, rattling, excessive vibration or a compressor that runs continuously warrants technician assessment.
- Confirm installation feasibility. Compare the room, doorway and plumbing measurements with the clearance requirements, not just the cabinet width.
- Price the risk. Set aside money for seals, filters, hoses, rollers and technician time. A low purchase price is not a bargain if a discontinued control board or ice assembly is unavailable locally.
First installation and setup
- Position the refrigerator on a level, solid floor with the specified ventilation clearance. Keep it upright during transport and follow the manual’s settling guidance before energising it.
- Connect the water supply using the approved fittings and a reachable shut-off valve. Inspect every joint while the line is pressurised.
- Plug the appliance directly into the correctly rated earthed outlet. Do not energise it through an extension lead.
- Set the fresh-food, freezer and Multizone modes using the electronic controls described in the manual. Start with the manufacturer’s settings rather than the coldest option.
- Allow the cabinet to cool fully before loading it. Spread food so air can circulate and avoid blocking vents.
- Flush the dispenser and discard water or ice as directed by the manual. Check again for leaks after the first cycle.
- Record the serial number, installation date and any registration details. Keep the manual and receipts with the appliance for future service.
Cleaning, maintenance and troubleshooting
Routine care
- Wipe spills promptly, especially around drawer rails and door seals.
- Clean gaskets with a soft, non-abrasive solution and inspect for gaps or tears.
- Keep external ventilation areas clear of dust and allow service access.
- Do not use sharp tools to remove ice or scrape internal surfaces.
- Replace or clean any water filtration component only when the exact manual specifies one; the supplied material does not establish a universal filter part for Australia.
- When leaving the appliance unused, turn off the water supply, empty the ice bin, clean and dry the interior, and leave doors slightly open if the manual permits.
Common symptoms
- No water from the dispenser: check that the supply valve is open, the hose is not kinked, the reservoir or line has been flushed and the control lock is off. Persistent low flow can indicate a blocked filter, inlet valve or household pressure problem.
- No ice: verify that the ice function is enabled, the bin is seated and the freezer is cold enough. If the water supply is sound but the maker never fills, service may be required.
- Temperature too warm: check door closure, gasket contact, blocked vents, heavy loading and room temperature. A fault code or persistent warming needs qualified diagnosis.
- Excessive frost: inspect whether a door is ajar or a gasket is damaged. Frost that returns after a proper defrost and seal check can indicate a defrost-system or airflow fault.
- Unusual noise: confirm the cabinet is level and not touching surrounding cabinetry. Grinding, repeated clicking or severe vibration should be investigated rather than ignored.

The available BFR630DX manual is labelled for the BFR630DX and related models. It covers installation, electrical connection, energy-saving preparation, indicator panels, fresh and frozen food handling, Multizone operation, water dispensing, cleaning and troubleshooting. Because one manual can cover several variants, check that the diagrams and control-panel layout match your exact model before following a procedure.

Beko’s UK manuals page provides model-number searching, and its UK parts store uses the product and serial numbers to identify refrigerator spares and shows line drawings. Those are legitimate official lookup routes, but they do not prove that a particular part is stocked in Australia or that a generic replacement will fit this refrigerator. Give the full model and serial number to an authorised local service provider and request written confirmation of compatibility before ordering. For a discontinued appliance, verify availability of seals, shelves, drawer runners, inlet valves, ice components and electronic boards before committing to a major repair.
How to compare the BFR630DX with another large refrigerator

It is less suitable for someone who needs a guaranteed current warranty, predictable replacement-part availability, publicly documented test performance or a refrigerator that fits a narrow opening without extra clearance.
Before handing over money, test cooling, Multizone operation, water and ice, record the serial number and obtain a repair-path answer from a local technician. If any of those checks fail, compare the total purchase-and-repair risk with a currently supported refrigerator rather than relying on the original specification sheet.

The Beko BFR630DX remains an interesting large-capacity design, mainly because its Multizone compartment can adapt between fridge and freezer duties. Its published features are attractive, but the model’s discontinued status and the lack of publicly visible CHOICE scores make condition and support more important than the brochure. Buy only after a hands-on inspection, clearance check, plumbing test and serial-number parts check; otherwise, choose a current model with transparent local support.
