The be quiet! Light Mount TKL is a wired, tenkeyless mechanical keyboard designed to reduce typing noise without taking up space for a numpad. Independent reviewers describe it as very quiet at a moderate pace, but not silent—and one found the spacebar mushy when pressed near its edge. Its quiet switches, hot-swap support, and cushioned wrist rest make it appealing for everyday use and late-night gaming; wired-only connectivity and that spacebar caveat are worth weighing before buying.
Is the be quiet! Light Mount TKL actually quiet?
It is quieter than a typical loud mechanical keyboard, according to the available reviews, but “quiet” does not mean silent. be quiet! attributes the reduced noise to its Silent V2 switches, three foam layers, and factory-lubricated switches and stabilizers. PC Gamer describes the typing feel as very quiet and smooth. Club386 found it very quiet at a moderate typing pace, but audible during fast, forceful typing.
No standardized decibel measurement or sound-pressure figure is available, so there is no reliable number to compare with other keyboards. The practical expectation is reduced mechanical noise, not silent operation. That may make the board more considerate for late-night use, but it cannot guarantee that a nearby person will not hear it.
What does the TKL layout change?
The Light Mount TKL is an 80% tenkeyless board: it keeps the main typing keys and navigation cluster but removes the numeric keypad. The smaller footprint leaves more room for mouse movement, which reviewers identify as useful for gaming. If you regularly enter numbers with a numpad, you will need a separate one or a full-size keyboard.

- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Layout availability varies by region. be quiet!’s UK product page lists ANSI and ISO versions; check the layout and key arrangement on the exact regional listing before ordering. The manufacturer’s UK ISO linear-switch page gives dimensions of 358 × 213 × 43.6 mm with the palm rest and 358 × 132 × 43.6 mm without it, with corresponding weights of 1.03 kg and 0.77 kg. Those figures apply to that listed variant, not necessarily every regional configuration. See be quiet!’s Light Mount TKL specifications.
How do the switches feel, and can you replace them?
The board is offered with Silent V2 switches in two types: orange is linear, while black is tactile. Linear switches move without a tactile bump; tactile switches provide a noticeable bump during a press. The switches are factory lubricated, and the keycaps are double-shot PBT.

Is the spacebar mushy?
That depends on how you press it, and the review evidence is not uniform. Club386’s Fahd Temsamani reported that pressing near the edge of the review unit’s spacebar produced barely noticeable feedback and felt mushy; he also found its return slower than other keys, a potential drawback for repeated-jump inputs. Treat this as one reviewer’s subjective impression, not proof that every unit has the same issue.

PC Gamer, by contrast, says the TKL’s spacebar is quieter than the one on the full-size Light Mount. That is a comparison of noise, not a claim that the two models have identical feel. If spacebar response is critical to your gaming, the edge-press concern is a sensible reason to try the keyboard in person or check the retailer’s return terms.
What gaming and everyday features are included?
- Quick Tap (SOCD): When opposing directional inputs are pressed together, the keyboard prioritizes the most recent input. It is off by default and can be controlled in IO Center or with Fn+Q. Some game developers may prohibit this behavior, so check the rules for each game before enabling it.
- Polling and rollover: be quiet! specifies 1,000 Hz polling and full N-key rollover over USB. Club386 considers the polling rate sufficient for general gaming and typing; the board is not positioned as a Hall-effect keyboard for highly competitive, fast-action play.
- Controls and lighting: A programmable media wheel and three additional programmable keys sit on the left side. Per-key ARGB lighting and illuminated bars add customization; PC Gamer notes that the legends are more subdued than the top light bar.
- Ergonomics: The package includes a magnetic cushioned palm rest, and the feet offer three typing angles. Hardware Busters lists 3°, 6°, and 9° for its US ANSI sample; check the specification for your regional model.
- Software: IO Center supports key remapping, macros, profiles, and lighting configuration. be quiet! lists Windows support and a web-based application; PC Gamer also reports Microsoft Dynamic Lighting support. The cited information does not establish macOS or Linux support.
How does it compare with the full-size Light Mount?
The central difference is the layout: the TKL removes the numpad to save desk space, while the full-size model retains it. PC Gamer also reports that the TKL spacebar is quieter than the full-size model’s. The supplied comparisons do not establish a complete, current side-by-side specification or price comparison, so confirm individual features on the relevant product pages rather than assuming every other detail is identical.

What are the main trade-offs?
| What matters | Light Mount TKL | What to consider |
|---|---|---|
| Noise | Silent V2 switches, three foam layers, and factory lubrication; reviewers describe it as quiet, not silent. | Fast or forceful typing remains audible; no measured decibel figure is available. |
| Desk space | TKL layout omits the numpad and leaves more room for a mouse. | Regular numpad users may prefer a full-size board. |
| Connectivity | Detachable USB cable; USB-A host connection to USB-C keyboard connection. | It is wired, not wireless. |
| Switches | Orange linear or black tactile Silent V2 switches; 5-pin MX-form-factor hot-swap sockets. | Choose the feel you prefer; replacement switches must be compatible. |
| Competitive features | 1,000 Hz polling and Quick Tap/SOCD. | It is not a Hall-effect board, and game rules may restrict SOCD behavior. |
| Price | PC Gamer listed $140/€140 at review time; Club386 listed €139.90/$139.90 in its 2026-08-25 review. | These are dated review prices, not verified current offers. Check the price for your region and layout. |
At the prices reported by reviewers, the value question is whether quiet switches, a TKL footprint, hot-swap support, and the included palm rest matter more to you than wireless connectivity or Hall-effect switches. PC Gamer notes that some smaller 75% and 60% alternatives may offer wireless or Hall-effect features at similar or lower prices, but current prices and availability need checking. Club386 likewise argues that wireless or Hall-effect features would have strengthened the value at its review price.
