A free BaZi chart calculator with an optional one-time PDF report is a plausible Cloudflare Workers project—but two things need to be made clear to users: the chart’s calendrical conventions and what the report actually adds. Cloudflare’s published limits describe platform capacity, not this project’s measured performance; the title alone does not establish the payment provider, report price, PDF-generation method, or how birth details are handled.
How the free chart and paid report should fit together
The product boundary is straightforward: let users generate a chart without paying, then offer a PDF as an optional one-time purchase. Explain the distinction before checkout. The free result should make the chart’s inputs and calculation rules visible; the paid report should say what additional content or format the buyer receives. A price, payment processor, delivery method, or specific report contents cannot be established from the product description alone, so they should be stated only when confirmed in the live product or project implementation.
Keep the PDF useful beyond a screen capture. It can identify the birth details entered, the time-zone and solar-time choices applied, and the chart conventions used, so a reader can understand how the result was produced. That is a design recommendation, not a claim about an existing report.

A BaZi (Four Pillars) chart is derived from birth information using calendrical and time conventions. A result can be reproducible under a stated method without establishing that its traditional interpretation is scientifically validated. Present the tool as a cultural or traditional reference, not as a scientifically accurate predictor or as medical, financial, or other professional advice.
#1 Best Overall
One reviewed calculator method uses the Gregorian birth date, local clock time, location, historical IANA time-zone offset, and a solar-time adjustment. Another describes the year changing at Start of Spring (Li Chun) and the months changing at the twelve Jie solar terms, with true-solar-time adjustment optional. Those are declared implementation choices, not universal rules for every BaZi school. Four Pillars Chart’s methodology and TOEA’s calculator description illustrate why a tool should publish its own method rather than claim an unqualified “most accurate” chart.
Inputs and boundary decisions to document
- Year and month transitions: State whether the year changes at Li Chun, Lunar New Year, or another convention, and whether month pillars follow Jie solar-term instants. Identify the time standard used for those instants.
- Place and civil time: Say whether users enter a birthplace, a time zone, a UTC offset, or some combination. Explain how the calculator handles historical time-zone changes and daylight-saving time.
- Solar time: State whether apparent or true solar time is applied, whether users can choose it, and what location reference is used for the adjustment.
- Day boundary: Explain how the calculation treats midnight and late Zi hour, especially when a birth time lies close to a boundary.
- Missing or uncertain time: Tell users what happens when the birth time is unknown or falls near a transition. Do not silently imply a precision the input cannot support.
- Reproducibility: Include the chosen inputs and conventions in the PDF or provide them alongside the result.
Why two BaZi calculators may disagree
Different outputs do not by themselves show that one calculator is broken. Compare the rules and inputs before comparing the charts. Differences can arise from the year or month boundary, the historical time-zone data or birthplace reference, daylight-saving treatment, solar-time correction, the day boundary near late Zi hour, hidden-stem display, or cycle rules. A birth close to midnight, a traditional two-hour boundary, or a solar-term instant is particularly sensitive: changing a time adjustment or boundary rule can change a pillar.
To compare results, use the same Gregorian birth date, local time, and location, then check each calculator’s published conventions. If either tool does not disclose its boundary and time-zone rules, the difference may be impossible to diagnose from the chart output alone.

What Cloudflare Workers Free can support
Cloudflare’s Workers documentation lists 100,000 requests per day and a 10 ms CPU-time limit per HTTP request on the Free plan. Cloudflare defines CPU time as active Worker execution; it excludes time waiting for network requests, KV reads, and database queries. These are platform limits, not evidence that a particular chart calculator or PDF workflow fits them. Whether the design works within the CPU allowance depends on the work performed in each request, and PDF generation must be measured in the implementation rather than assumed to fit.
Rank #3
Cloudflare’s pricing page, updated October 2, 2026, lists Workers Paid with a $5 monthly account minimum. Its current limits documentation lists up to five minutes of CPU time per request on Paid, with 30 seconds as the default. These figures describe Cloudflare plan terms, not the project’s bill or expected cost per report. Check the Workers pricing documentation and Workers limits documentation for the current terms before choosing a plan.
If the project uses D1
D1 allowances matter only if the application actually uses D1. Cloudflare’s D1 documentation, last updated April 21, 2026, lists Free allowances of 5 million rows read per day, 100,000 rows written per day, and 5 GB total storage. When daily read or write limits are reached, queries fail until the limit resets or the account upgrades. Worker CPU used to query D1 and compute or serialize results is accounted for under Workers pricing in addition to D1 usage. See Cloudflare’s D1 pricing documentation.

Privacy and implementation details users need
Birth date, time, and location are sensitive personal details for many users. Before launch, make the actual data flow clear: what is sent to the Worker, whether anything is stored, how long it is retained, whether report generation or delivery sends it to another service, and how a user can request deletion or export if those options exist. State the payment and delivery process in the checkout flow. Do not imply a particular processor, retention period, binding, or PDF architecture without verifying the deployed configuration and privacy copy.
For the build itself, choose and test a calculation implementation that can apply the declared calendar and time rules consistently. Measure CPU time for chart generation and for any PDF work done on the Worker. If rendering is delegated elsewhere, account for the network dependency and disclose the relevant data transfer. Keep the free chart available independently of checkout so a payment or delivery failure does not obscure the calculation result.

Launch checks for a trustworthy calculator
- Write down the convention: Specify year and month transitions, time-zone handling, solar-time behavior, day boundary, and unknown-time behavior.
- Test edge cases: Check dates near Start of Spring and Jie terms, midnight and late Zi hour, daylight-saving transitions, and locations where historical civil-time rules changed.
- Measure the deployed path: Record Worker CPU time for representative chart requests and the actual PDF workflow; do not infer capacity from request counts alone.
- Make the purchase boundary explicit: Tell users which chart features are free and exactly what the one-time PDF purchase includes, including price and delivery details as confirmed in the product.
- Publish data practices: Describe collection, storage, retention, third-party processing, and available user controls in language that matches the implementation.
