Battleplan launched on Steam on October 12, 2026. The single-player World War II strategy game puts players in command of operations across Western Europe, where they draw plans on the map, manage formations and supply, and step in directly when needed. Its announced launch campaign includes 11 historical missions and two tutorial levels.
What kind of game is Battleplan?
Battleplan is a real-time, operational-level strategy game set in World War II. Its focus is commanding military operations rather than running a country’s economy or diplomacy. You issue high-level orders, while formations and officers carry them out; you can also intervene directly and adjust your plans as a battle develops. The game is single-player, not a multiplayer-first release. Steam’s listing has the current store details.
How its battles and campaign work
Rather than issuing only isolated unit commands, players draw multi-step plans directly on the map. The scale ranges from divisions organized around headquarters, regiments, battalions and companies to smaller units that can be split down to company level. Infantry, tanks, engineers, anti-tank guns, artillery and scouts provide different roles for combined-arms operations.
Supply is central to whether an advance can continue. Terrain affects supply flow, depots support troops moving forward, and cutting an enemy’s supply lines can leave its forces without what they need. The real-time simulation can be paused or fast-forwarded, and a mission may represent between one week and one month of simulated time. What is included at launch?
In its October 2 launch overview, the developer described a campaign of 11 historical missions spanning key operations from the D-Day landings through Operation Varsity, plus two tutorial levels. The campaign also features persistent army customization: players build and adjust their force, recruit officers, unlock historical units and carry decisions between battles. These are the announced launch contents; the announcement does not establish that every feature planned for after launch has shipped.
The same overview said additional theatres of war, system updates and gameplay improvements were planned after launch, but gave no dated roadmap or delivery commitments. Treat those as plans, not as content confirmed to be available now. The official Battleplan community announcement confirmed the game was out on October 12.

Can your PC run Battleplan?
Steam lists Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit), DirectX 11, broadband internet and 8 GB of available storage for both minimum and recommended configurations. The listed memory requirement is 4 GB minimum and 8 GB recommended.

Release history and where to buy
The originally announced release date was July 14, 2026. On July 3, the publisher delayed the game to Q3 for additional testing and improvements to plan-drafting precision, army management, bugs and crashes, localization, icons and presentation. A September 17 update set October 12 as the new date, and the official launch post confirmed that date as the actual release.
Battleplan is sold as a digital PC game through Steam and the Matrix Games storefront. The Matrix listing says its purchase includes a Steam activation key. Price and regional availability can change; check the storefront for current details rather than relying on an older listed price.
