EA plans to add Platoons and a Server Browser during Battlefield 6 Season 5, but it has not announced exact calendar dates for either feature. EA’s September 30, 2026 update says the Server Browser is coming later in the season; Platoons are also planned for Season 5, with an initial focus on social-group features.
When are the Server Browser and Platoons coming to Battlefield 6?
Both features are planned for Season 5. EA’s July 30, 2026 roadmap placed Season 5 in its Winter window, but did not give a launch date for either feature. EA’s September 30 update clarifies that the Server Browser is coming later in the season. It does not give a specific date for Platoons, either. EA’s September 30 Season 5 update and its July 30 roadmap update are the latest cited timing details.
How are Platoons expected to work?
EA describes the first Platoons release as the foundation for forming social groups, rather than the complete long-term feature set. A Platoon is planned to support up to 100 members, with tools for joining, managing membership, and playing together.
- Create or join a Platoon with up to 100 members.
- Display a Platoon tag.
- Choose configurable join settings.
- Use leadership tools to manage membership.
- Party up with other Platoon members and earn XP bonuses when playing together.
EA says the feature will be delivered progressively across several seasons, so additional capabilities may arrive after its Season 5 introduction.

What will the Server Browser offer?
EA says the browser is intended to give players more choice in finding and joining matches, and to help them build communities in-game. Its roadmap outlines planned support for several match-finding needs:
- Official servers should be easy to identify.
- Official servers are planned to support full progression.
- Regular matchmaking is intended to remain available and backfill active matches.
- EA is working toward more persistent match flow where possible, while respecting matchmaking choices.
Persistent match flow is a goal, not a promise that every server will remain active indefinitely. EA has not described a final design or said that all browser servers will be persistent. The roadmap presents these points as plans rather than measured results.

How does the browser relate to Portal?
EA’s FAQ says players can browse and create servers through Portal. That is separate from the planned Season 5 Server Browser announcement: the FAQ does not establish that Portal’s existing server browsing is identical to every capability EA describes for the new browser. Season 5 covers a broader rollout than these two features. EA’s September update previews three maps taking players to Vegas across the season, with two available at launch. It also names new weapons, combat balance changes for weapons, classes, and vehicles, and Rapid Royale Solos and Trios for REDSEC at the start of the season. The Server Browser is specifically described as arriving later, not at the season’s opening.

What is confirmed—and what could still change?
The timing and feature details above are EA’s announced plans, not guarantees that every element will ship exactly as described. EA says live-service announcements can change as development continues and feedback comes in. Its October 1, 2026 preview says planned changes may be adjusted, delayed, or removed based on Battlefield Labs testing and player feedback. EA’s Year 2 preview gives that qualification.
