Avro and Bijoy teach different ways to enter Bangla text, so a beginner course for one method may not work for the other. In a LearnType article published on DEV Community on Oct. 6, 2026, the LearnType account explains why it created separate beginner paths: Avro learners build from English-letter spelling toward complex Bangla forms, while Bijoy learners first have to find and remember a fixed keyboard map.
Why one course did not fit both methods
Avro Phonetic and Bijoy can both be used to type Bangla, but they ask learners to build different habits. Avro starts with English letters and uses phonetic spelling to produce Bangla text. Bijoy assigns Bangla letters to fixed keyboard keys. The LearnType article describes these as distinct enough that a single lesson sequence could feel too easy to some learners and confusing to others. That is the builder’s explanation, not a published study comparing course outcomes.

Avro: turn spelling into Bangla text
Avro learners can begin with familiar English keys, then work toward more difficult Bangla combinations, including conjuncts and vowel signs. The challenge is not simply entering the letters: the English spelling a learner has in mind can differ from the Bangla text that appears. A course for Avro therefore needs practice connecting typed spellings with their resulting Bangla forms.

Bijoy: learn where the keys are
Bijoy learners need to develop familiarity with a new fixed key map. The LearnType article says early challenges include locating keys and remembering when to use Shift or link-key combinations. A course organized around phonetic spelling would not teach those same skills, so the Bijoy path starts at the home row and expands outward.

Choose based on the input method you expect to use and what you already know. LearnType’s article offers the following guidance, which is the author’s advice rather than a measured finding:
