The reported Bakkt–Thredd credit-card-as-a-service partnership settling in stablecoins is not confirmed by the available company announcements or filings. Those sources establish separate developments at each company, but do not connect Thredd to Bakkt’s card programs or disclose how any such program would work.
Is a Bakkt–Thredd stablecoin card partnership confirmed?
No. The available sources do not verify that Bakkt selected Thredd to power a credit-card-as-a-service program, or that a Bakkt card program will settle in stablecoins. They also do not establish a launch date, market, card network, supported stablecoin, settlement process, or cardholder terms for the alleged program.

This distinction matters because a company’s general ability to process cards or handle stablecoin-related payments is not proof that it has been selected for a particular product. The claims should remain unconfirmed unless Bakkt or Thredd publishes a primary announcement identifying the relationship.

What Bakkt and Thredd have disclosed separately
Thredd’s stablecoin partnership is with Velocity
On September 23, 2026, Thredd announced a partnership with Velocity to add stablecoin-powered money movement. Thredd said the initial focus includes B2B and B2B2B use cases such as stablecoin-backed card programs, cross-border payouts, treasury flows, and on-chain settlement. That announcement concerns Velocity; it does not confirm a Bakkt partnership. Thredd’s announcement.

Bakkt has described card products in development
In its Form 10-Q for the quarter ended June 30, 2026, Bakkt described three product configurations in development: a modular neobanking-as-a-service stack, white-label card and credit-card programs, and agentic cross-border transfers. The filing did not name Thredd as a provider for those programs. Bakkt’s Form 10-Q.
Bakkt’s August 10, 2026 second-quarter results release said initial Bakkt Agent-powered partner products, including co-branded card programs, were targeted for commercial launch in Q4 2026. A target is not confirmation that a product launched, and the release does not identify a Thredd-powered stablecoin-settled card. Bakkt’s second-quarter results release.
Thredd describes general card-processing capabilities
Thredd’s issuer-processing platform site says it supports prepaid, debit, and credit cards in virtual and physical formats, and describes stablecoin-backed card and settlement capabilities. These are general platform capabilities, not program-specific evidence about Bakkt, a particular card’s availability, or its terms. Thredd’s issuer-processing platform.
What “settling in stablecoins” would—and would not—tell cardholders
Settlement describes movement of funds between participants in a payments chain. It does not, by itself, tell a cardholder how purchases are authorized, what currency appears on a statement, whether a balance is credit or prepaid, or how a bill is repaid. A processor’s settlement infrastructure and a consumer’s borrowing and repayment arrangements are different parts of a card program.

The available sources do not specify consumer mechanics for the alleged Bakkt–Thredd program. In particular, they do not identify who would issue the card, underwrite credit, fund transactions, convert between fiat currency and stablecoins, or bear responsibility for fees and consumer protections. Without those details, it is not possible to explain the program’s cost or practical impact for a cardholder.

A substantive assessment would require primary disclosures about the program itself, including:
- Which companies issue the card, process transactions, provide credit, and manage funding.
- Supported card networks, countries, and launch availability.
- Which stablecoins and blockchain networks are supported, and how conversion and settlement occur.
- Whether the product is credit, debit, or prepaid from the customer’s perspective, and how repayment works.
- Fees, consumer protections, and the timing and conditions of any launch.
Until those specifics are published, the confirmed story is narrower: Thredd has announced stablecoin-related money movement with Velocity, while Bakkt has separately described card and credit-card products in development.
