A September 2025 report says BAFTA awarded more than £277,000 to 86 emerging creatives through its 2025 scholarship programmes and the Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund—not 112 recipients. It describes the recipients as based in the UK and North America, with six UK scholarship recipients, nine US scholarship recipients and 71 UK bursary recipients. The exact claim of 112 recipients in the UK and US is not confirmed by the available published figures.
What BAFTA’s 2025 funding report says
PocketGamer.biz reported on September 19, 2025, that the 2025 scholarship programmes and Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund awarded over £277,000 to 86 emerging creatives across the UK and North America. The report breaks that total into three groups:
- Six recipients in the UK scholarship programme.
- Nine recipients in the US scholarship programme.
- Seventy-one recipients of the UK Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund.
Those figures add up to 86. The report does not support describing the recipients as 112 people in the UK and US. Its wording is UK and North America, while its breakdown identifies US scholarship recipients separately from UK recipients.

The report distinguishes scholarship recipients from bursary recipients, but does not give individual scholarship award amounts or full eligibility criteria. It reports that the Prince William BAFTA Bursary Fund offered grants of up to £2,000 per bursary in 2025. That is a per-bursary ceiling, not the amount each recipient necessarily received.

The bursary fund was described as helping UK creatives meet essential costs. Reported examples include training, relocation, equipment and driving lessons. The report also names aspiring filmmakers, game designers, actors, producers and editors among the people the expanded bursaries aim to support. These examples do not establish that every listed cost or discipline qualifies under every year’s rules; applicants should check the current official scheme guidance.

What BAFTA’s CEO said about the support
PocketGamer.biz attributed this statement to BAFTA CEO Jane Millichip: “Our bursaries and scholarships remove the practical and financial barriers that too often stand in the way of talented people starting out in film, games, and television.” The outlet also reported her saying: “From driving lessons to specialist equipment and tuition fees, this support can make the difference between someone having to step back from their ambitions or moving forward with confidence.” These quotations were published by PocketGamer.biz, rather than in a direct BAFTA announcement available here.
