Axos ONE’s 5.00% APY is a temporary, conditional rate—not the bundle’s standard savings yield. For accounts opened October 1–31, 2026, eligible new customers can receive it on the first $49,999.99 in savings for six statement cycles, but only if they meet one of two monthly deposit-and-checking-balance tests. If you do not qualify, the savings rate may be as low as the account’s base rate, which Axos listed as up to 1.00% APY.
What Axos ONE offers
Axos ONE combines a checking account with a savings account. Axos advertises no monthly maintenance fees, no minimum balance requirements and no overdraft fees. Both accounts have a $0 minimum opening deposit, and the product page advertises direct deposit up to two days early. These are Axos’s stated account features; review its current disclosures for applicable terms and fees.
What APY can you earn?
Axos’s rate page, accessed October 8, 2026, lists the following rates. The page says its displayed rates were accurate as of October 6, 2026. Rates are variable and can change, so treat these figures as an October 2026 snapshot.
| Rate situation | Checking | Savings |
|---|---|---|
| Base rate | 0.00% APY | Up to 1.00% APY |
| After meeting either monthly qualification option | 0.51% APY | 4.21% APY on the first $249,999.99; 3.50% APY on additional savings |
| Eligible new-customer boost, for the first six statement cycles | Qualifying-cycle rate applies | 5.00% APY on the first $49,999.99 and 4.21% APY on balances from $50,000 through $249,999.99 |
The boost adds 0.79 percentage points to the savings APY for the first six statement cycles, including the cycle in which the account is opened. Axos’s October 2026 offer is for eligible new customers who open a new Axos ONE bundle between October 1 and October 31, 2026, meet the monthly requirements, and maintain an average daily savings balance of $249,999.99 or less. Prior Axos Bank or UFB Direct account holders are ineligible. A primary account holder may receive only one APY Boost under this or another boost promotion in a 12-month period.

Axos says the base and promotional rates and corresponding APYs for both accounts are variable and set at its discretion; it may change them as often as daily without prior notice. Promotional terms can also change or be withdrawn, and fees may reduce earnings. Check the offer and rate disclosures when applying rather than assuming the October figures remain available.
How to qualify for the boosted rate
For each qualification period, satisfy both requirements in either option below. The options are alternatives: you do not need to meet both options, but deposits alone are not enough.
Rank #2
| Option | Monthly deposit requirement | Average daily checking balance |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | At least $1,500 in qualifying direct deposits | At least $1,500 |
| 2 | At least $5,000 in qualifying deposits | At least $5,000 |
Meeting either option triggers the promotional checking and savings rates for that statement cycle. If you are relying on the temporary APY Boost, the boost’s separate new-customer and offer-period terms also apply.
What Axos counts as a direct deposit
For Option 1, Axos defines direct deposit as an electronic ACH deposit of a paycheck or government benefits, such as Social Security or disability benefits. It excludes international paychecks and benefits, transfers, ATM and mobile check deposits, real-time payments, and person-to-person payments. If your income arrives through an excluded method, do not assume it will satisfy the direct-deposit test.

What counts toward the $5,000 deposit option
For Option 2, eligible qualifying deposits include external ACH transfers, inbound wire transfers, mobile check deposits, and real-time payments. Axos excludes internal transfers, interest, promotional bonuses, credits, reversals, refunds, and ATM deposits. This category is broader than direct deposit, but it still has exclusions.
When the qualification period runs
Axos says the qualification period normally starts on the first business day of the month and ends on the 25th. Transactions must post and clear by the 25th; qualifying transactions that arrive later count in the next period. For a new account, the period starts on approval. An account opened on or after the 25th becomes eligible for the promotional APY starting the following month.

Is Axos ONE worth considering?
The main question is whether the qualification rules fit your normal cash flow. Compare the account using the balance you expect to keep in savings and distinguish the six-cycle boosted rate from the ongoing qualifying-cycle rate and the base rate.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors- Check the balance tiers: The October boost’s 5.00% APY applies only to the first $49,999.99; the listed rate on the next savings tier is 4.21% APY. After the boost, the qualifying-cycle rate is 4.21% APY on the first $249,999.99 and 3.50% on additional savings.
- Confirm your deposits count: A paycheck or qualifying government benefit through ACH may fit Option 1. Transfers and mobile check deposits do not count as direct deposits, though certain deposit types can count under Option 2.
- Account for the checking balance: Each option requires maintaining its own minimum average daily checking balance during the qualification period.
- Look beyond the headline APY: Compare the offer’s duration, the rate after the boost, eligibility restrictions, opening deposit and minimum-balance terms, and the possibility of variable-rate changes.
The available Axos figures establish its account rates and conditions, but do not establish that Axos ONE is above average versus competing accounts. A fair comparison requires current offers evaluated at the same savings balance and over both the introductory and ongoing periods.
