Avatar: Seven Havens is the next animated story after The Legend of Korra, which itself follows the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series. Nickelodeon’s official description calls Pavi the new Avatar “after Korra.” It does not establish a canonical number of years between the two series, so the precise length of the gap remains unknown.
The sequel begins in a world broken by a devastating cataclysm. People blame the Avatar for humanity’s ruin, forcing Pavi and her long-lost twin, Nisha, to investigate what happened while trying to save the Seven Havens.
The animated Avatar timeline in order
The relevant continuity is the animated universe, not the separate live-action adaptation. Its chronological order is:
- Avatar: The Last Airbender — the original three-season story centered on Aang. Nickelodeon says the series ran for 61 episodes.
- The Legend of Korra — the animated spinoff set later in the same world, following Korra as the next Avatar in the cycle.
- Avatar: Seven Havens — the announced successor, whose protagonist is the new Avatar born after Korra.
That ordering is supported by Nickelodeon’s February 20, 2025 announcement and Paramount’s July 23, 2026 franchise presentation. Seven Havens is therefore not a prequel, side story set alongside Korra, or remake of the original series. It is the next chapter in the animated Avatar chronology.

For a viewer starting from the beginning, Aang’s series establishes the original animated world and the Avatar’s role. Korra then shows a later era and a different Avatar dealing with the consequences of that history. Seven Havens advances the line again instead of resetting it, so its placement is a continuation of the same animated succession.
What “after Korra” confirms—and what it does not
The succession is official
Korra remains the Avatar immediately before Pavi. The official premise describes Pavi as a young Earthbender who discovers that she is the new Avatar after Korra. That wording establishes succession even though it does not provide a calendar date for Pavi’s birth, Korra’s death, or the transition between their eras.
“After Korra” is a statement about the Avatar cycle and the order of stories, not a complete biography of either character. It tells us which Avatar comes first, but it does not say how long Korra’s era lasted, when Pavi was born, or whether the two Avatars ever met. Those details remain for the series or a later official guide to establish.

The exact time gap is unresolved
The official announcements reviewed for the series give no elapsed-years figure. A GamesRadar+ explainer published October 4, 2026 discusses an estimate, but that number is not corroborated by the Nickelodeon or Paramount materials. Treat the interval as unknown in a canon timeline: “after Korra” is the defensible answer unless a future official source supplies a number.
This distinction matters because a precise year count can make fan theories sound like established history. The setting may eventually reveal dates, but the currently announced information supports only relative chronology. Avoid converting an estimate from a secondary article into a fixed date on a timeline graphic or episode guide.
Where the new series begins
A world changed by catastrophe
Seven Havens opens after a devastating cataclysm has shattered the world. The official descriptions use that disaster to explain why the new Avatar is treated differently from the heroes of earlier eras: people regard the Avatar as humanity’s destroyer rather than its savior.
That is the world’s belief and the story’s central conflict, not proof that Korra caused the cataclysm. The announcements do not identify the disaster’s cause, say that Korra personally triggered it, or establish that the public accusation is correct. A careful timeline should therefore separate three points: Korra precedes Pavi; a cataclysm occurs before Pavi’s story; and people blame the Avatar for the resulting destruction.
The phrase “Seven Havens” is tied to the survival mission in the premise: Pavi and Nisha must help save the Seven Havens. The announcement does not yet provide a full map, explain whether the havens are cities, communities or another kind of refuge, or identify who founded them. Those are story questions, not settled timeline facts.

Human and spirit opposition
Pavi is hunted by both human and spirit enemies. The threat is consequently broader than a political campaign against one person. The premise places her in conflict with forces from both sides of the world’s human–spirit relationship while she searches for answers about the catastrophe and her own identity.
Nothing in the announcement says that every human or every spirit rejects the Avatar. It describes the enemies pursuing Pavi and the widespread reputation she faces. That leaves room for allies and for disagreements within both groups without requiring assumptions about the entire population.
Pavi, Nisha and the central mystery
Pavi discovers she is the Avatar
Pavi is introduced as a young Earthbender. Her discovery that she is the new Avatar supplies the personal entry point into the post-Korra era: she must learn what the title means at a time when the title itself has become a source of fear. The official material does not provide a training timetable, a date for her discovery, or a full explanation of how her abilities develop.

Her Earthbending is the specific starting detail announced for her character. It does not establish that she has already mastered other elements, met a mentor, or understood the Avatar cycle before the discovery. Those points should not be filled in from assumptions about earlier protagonists.
Nisha is her long-lost twin
Nisha, Pavi’s long-lost twin, is central to the investigation. The sisters must work together to uncover their origins and help save the Seven Havens. Their relationship gives the sequel a family mystery alongside its larger questions about the Avatar and the cataclysm.
The wording “long-lost” confirms separation and a later reunion or partnership, but the official descriptions do not say why the twins were separated, where Nisha lived, or whether she has bending abilities. Their shared origins are part of the mystery the story is expected to explore.

The cast announcement identifies these roles but does not, by itself, explain each character’s place in the cataclysm, the Seven Havens, or the sisters’ past. Casting confirms who performs the characters; it does not reveal alliances, survival status, bending abilities or episode outcomes.

How many episodes and books are planned?
Nickelodeon announced two books, each consisting of 13 half-hour episodes. The planned total is therefore 26 episodes across the two books. That is a format announcement, not a statement that every episode has already premiered.

At the October 13, 2026 information point, the first three episodes had been scheduled to premiere and the remaining batches were still upcoming. The announcement did not provide Book 2 dates; those details were to follow.
The batch pattern means Book 1 is not a single 13-episode drop in the announced plan. The first three episodes arrive together, followed by three-episode weekly groups and a final four-episode group. Regional timing or catalog presentation may differ, so the service listing remains the practical check on launch status.

What to watch first
You do not need a separate continuity guide to understand the order. Watch the original animated Avatar: The Last Airbender first if you want Aang’s story, then The Legend of Korra, then Seven Havens. The original series is a useful predecessor rather than a prerequisite for identifying Pavi’s position: Korra is the immediate predecessor named in the new show’s premise.

Keep adaptations separate
The animated sequence should not be mixed with live-action adaptations. Live-action versions reinterpret the original story and do not replace the animated chronology used by Korra and Seven Havens. When a guide says “Avatar timeline” in this context, it should specify that it means the animated continuity.
How Seven Havens changes the usual Avatar status quo
Earlier animated stories present the Avatar as a figure expected to restore balance, even when individual nations disagree about how that duty should be carried out. Seven Havens starts from the opposite public reputation. Pavi is identified as a danger by people who believe the Avatar destroyed humanity’s world.
That reversal affects the timeline in two ways. First, the cataclysm is a historical event separating Korra’s era from Pavi’s. Second, the social meaning of the Avatar has changed by the time Pavi is recognized. The series can investigate whether the accusation is true without requiring the official premise to settle the question in advance.

What the creators have said
In Nickelodeon’s February 20, 2025 announcement, original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko said: “When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later.” The quote places Seven Havens within the continuing expansion of the animated franchise, but it does not add a date to the story’s internal chronology.
That distinction is useful when separating production history from fictional history. The announcement date tells us when the project was publicly announced; it does not indicate when Pavi’s story occurs relative to Korra inside the fictional world.

Until an official episode, guide or announcement dates the transition, both possibilities remain open.

The same caution applies to the cataclysm. Its existence is part of the official premise, while its cause and Korra’s responsibility are unanswered. Future episodes may confirm, complicate or reject the public story. A timeline can record the event and the accusation now without presenting either as a solved mystery.
For now, the strongest timeline statement is deliberately simple: Aang’s series comes first, Korra’s story follows it, and Pavi’s story begins after Korra in a world transformed by catastrophe. Anything more precise should be labeled speculation rather than settled canon.
