There was no secret Avatar between The Legend of Korra’s Korra and Avatar: Seven Havens’ twin protagonists. Michael Dante DiMartino, co-creator of the new series, directly confirmed that Korra was the immediately previous Avatar and that the long gap is not evidence of an undisclosed successor.
DiMartino directly rules out the intervening-Avatar theory
The theory emerged because Seven Havens begins roughly two centuries after Korra’s era, while the Avatar cycle normally passes to a new person when the previous Avatar dies. That unexplained interval led some viewers to speculate that another Avatar had lived between Korra and Pavi.
In a 2026 interview with GamesRadar+, DiMartino ended that speculation: “Korra was the previous Avatar,” he confirmed. “There wasn’t a secret Avatar in between. I feel okay debunking that theory.” The statement establishes the succession order: Korra is followed by Pavi, with no hidden Avatar inserted into the timeline.
What is confirmed about Pavi and Nisha
Paramount’s official premise presents Pavi as a young Earthbender who discovers that she is the next Avatar after Korra. Her long-lost twin, Nisha, is central to the story, and the series describes the pair as “Twin Avatars.” That label is a confirmed part of the premise, but the available official material does not explain the mechanism that allows two twins to be connected to the Avatar role.

- Designed with Ultra Articulation for full range of posing
- Can be posed to fly and crawl as seen in the film
- Approximately 30 INCH WINGSPAWN. Works with 7-inch figures as riders (Sold Separately)

The twin question remains an intentional mystery
DiMartino said the creators wanted to explore “Twin Avatars” because it was an angle they had not used before. The interview says the show will unpack why there are two Avatars; it does not say that Nisha is a hidden successor between Korra and Pavi, nor does it establish a second, separate Avatar cycle.
Accordingly, two questions should be kept separate:
Rank #2
- 7-inch scale action figure
- Designed with Ultra Articulation with up to 22 moving parts for full range of posing
- Premium sculpt and deco
- Includes accesories and collector stand
- Special blacklight-activated biolumniescence
- Was another Avatar born between Korra and Pavi? No. DiMartino explicitly ruled that out.
- How can Pavi and Nisha both be tied to the Avatar identity? The series has not yet revealed the answer.
What happened during the roughly 200-year gap?
The gap remains part of the show’s mystery. The interview confirms the usual succession rule but presents the timing between Korra and Pavi as unexplained. No official account cited for the series supplies a missing Avatar, a complete chronology, or a definitive explanation for how Pavi’s emergence fits the long interval.

Seven Havens instead opens after a cataclysm has devastated the world. The Avatar is now viewed by much of humanity as its destroyer rather than its savior. Pavi and Nisha investigate their origins while trying to save the Seven Havens, so the historical gap, the catastrophe and the twins’ identity are connected story mysteries rather than evidence of a concealed predecessor.
Rank #3
- Quaritch's Banshee features highly detailed sculpt and deco
- Designed with Ultra Articulation for full range of posing
- Can be posed to fly and crawl as seen in the film
- Approximately 30 INCH WINGSPAWN. Works with 7-inch figures as riders (Sold Separately)
- Features a poseable wired tail and collector stand
How Seven Havens follows The Legend of Korra
| Story element | The Legend of Korra | Avatar: Seven Havens |
|---|---|---|
| Place in the Avatar succession | Korra is the previous Avatar. | Pavi is presented as the next Avatar; no intervening Avatar exists. |
| Public view of the Avatar | Korra works to protect a changing world. | The Avatar is treated as humanity’s destroyer after a cataclysm. |
| Central lore question | Korra’s conflicts develop within an established cycle. | The series investigates why twins are associated with the Avatar role. |
| World condition | A functioning but politically unsettled modernizing world. | A devastated world organized around the Seven Havens. |
| Initial structure | Four books in the completed series. | 26 half-hour episodes initially ordered as Book 1 and Book 2, 13 episodes each. |
This makes Seven Havens a sequel in the Avatar continuity, but not a straightforward repeat of Korra’s journey. Its defining setup is a successor who is hunted or rejected because of the Avatar’s reputation, alongside a twin mystery that the creators have deliberately left open.
Release schedule and renewal
The first three episodes premiered globally on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026. Paramount’s announced rollout then schedules:
Rank #4
- FIRE BENDER: Master the element of fire with Zuko (Book Three)
- BOOK THREE: 6.5-inch scale figure is based on “Book Three” of Avatar: The Last Airbender
- SOFT TUNIC: Features 22 points of articulation and a soft good tunic
- ACCESSORIES: Includes five swappable hands one alternate faceplate
- FIRE EFFECT: Also includes fire bending effect to recreate iconic battles
- Episodes 4–6: October 16, 2026
- Episodes 7–9: October 23, 2026
- Episodes 10–13: October 30, 2026
The initial order covers 26 half-hour episodes, divided into Book 1 and Book 2. Paramount has also announced Books 3 and 4, which will continue Pavi and Nisha’s story. Episode counts and release dates for those later books have not been announced in the cited material.
What the creators may still need to explain
DiMartino’s clarification closes one fan theory but leaves the more consequential lore questions available for the series itself:
- What is the exact relationship between Pavi and Nisha’s abilities and the traditional Avatar cycle?
- Does Nisha share the Avatar’s reincarnated spirit, represent a new form of the role, or have a different connection entirely?
- What caused the cataclysm that changed the Avatar’s reputation?
- How did the world move from Korra’s era to the Seven Havens?
- Why is Pavi considered the next Avatar if roughly two centuries have passed?
Until episodes or an official story guide answer those points, the reliable conclusion is limited but clear: Korra remains the previous Avatar, Pavi is the successor identified by the series, and Nisha’s twin-Avatar connection is an unresolved premise rather than proof of a secret Avatar.
