Running a modpack with friends? Godlike.Host offers modded Minecraft server hosting with one-click modpacks (CurseForge, FTB, Technic) and free DDoS protection.
To run an Avalon Reborn server, match the server to the current client release—Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6 for Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.20—then install the matching server-pack archive in a clean, dedicated directory. Launch the supplied Forge server script, accept the EULA, configure server.properties, test the console, and only then invite players. Do not copy a desktop client folder into a server directory: Modpacks.ch’s setup warning is, “Do not upload the ordinary client folder blindly.”
You can self-host on your own computer or use CurseForge’s managed server flow. The right choice depends on whether you value control and avoiding a recurring hosting bill or want automatic provisioning and simpler friend access. Whichever route you choose, every player must use the same Avalon Reborn release and Forge loader.

Which Avalon Reborn release should your server use?
As of October 15, 2026, the official CurseForge project lists Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6 as the main release. It is built for Minecraft 1.20.1 and uses Forge; Modpacks.ch identifies the corresponding Forge build as 47.4.20. CurseForge page metadata captured in 2026 records 48,911 downloads. Avalon Reborn is presented by Pixel Dream Studios as an adventure/RPG, exploration, hardcore and magic pack.
| Item | Current published value | What you must match |
|---|---|---|
| Avalon Reborn release | 0.1.6.6 (dated October 4, 2026) | The same pack release on the server and every client |
| Minecraft version | 1.20.1 | Use the 1.20.1 profile, not another Minecraft version |
| Forge build | 47.4.20, according to Modpacks.ch’s corresponding build listing | Use the loader supplied or specified for the selected pack release |
| Mod projects | 278 in the selected 0.1.6.6 pack file, according to Modpacks.ch | Install the complete pack; the count is not a memory recommendation |
| CurseForge downloads | 48,911 page downloads in 2026 metadata | This is popularity data, not a capacity or performance test |
Check the project page and the server-pack file immediately before installation. A server archive must identify the same release, Minecraft version and loader as the client profile you intend to run. Do not assume that a similarly named archive is interchangeable.
#1 Best Overall

- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that’s unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.
- SURVIVE THE ADVENTURE — Face mysterious foes, travel across exciting landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.

Choose self-hosting or managed hosting
Both approaches can run the same modpack. The difference is who handles the machine, network exposure and routine administration.
| Decision point | Self-hosted server | CurseForge managed server |
|---|---|---|
| Control | You control the operating system, files, backups, ports and update timing. | The hosting service provisions and operates the server environment through CurseForge’s flow. |
| Cost pattern | Uses your own computer, electricity and network; no hosting subscription is required. | Uses a recurring monthly plan; payment is completed through Tebex. |
| Networking | You may need to configure a firewall, router port forwarding and a reachable address. | CurseForge’s guide says its hosted flow requires no manual file uploads or port forwarding. |
| Maintenance | You perform updates, backups, troubleshooting and access control. | Provisioning is performed by Shockbyte, which the guide says also provides server support. |
| Best fit | Owners who want maximum control or already have a suitable always-on machine. | Groups that prefer a guided setup and a provider-managed environment. |
CurseForge describes the product this way: “CurseForge Servers let you turn any modpack with a matching serverpack into a hosted multiplayer server in a few clicks- no manual file uploads or port forwarding required.” That convenience depends on selecting a matching server pack; it does not make an incompatible archive safe to use.
What you need before installing
For either deployment method
- A legitimate Minecraft Java Edition installation that can run Minecraft 1.20.1.
- The exact Avalon Reborn client release you plan to use: 0.1.6.6 for the current release listed on October 15, 2026.
- The Forge loader specified for that release; Modpacks.ch reports build 47.4.20 for 0.1.6.6.
- A matching Avalon Reborn server-pack archive when the project provides one.
- Enough disk space for the archive, extracted server files, generated world, logs and backups. The listed
AvalonReborn_0.2_SP_server_pack.zipis 720.63 MB before extraction and world growth. - A plan for who can join: a whitelist is safer than exposing an open server to the internet.
For self-hosting
- A dedicated directory used only for the server. Do not point the launcher at an existing desktop modpack instance.
- An operating system account with permission to create files and run the supplied launcher.
- A network path that your friends can reach. Depending on your router and internet service, this may require firewall and port configuration.
- Time to monitor the first startup while Forge creates files, checks dependencies and generates the world.
For managed hosting
- The CurseForge app with Minecraft opened and the Servers area available.
- A server pack that CurseForge recognizes as matching the modpack.
- Billing details for the selected plan; the guide documents payment through Tebex.
- Your preferred hosting region and server name.
Self-host Avalon Reborn step by step
1. Install and verify the client profile
- Open the official Avalon Reborn project in your launcher or modpack manager.
- Select release
Avalon Reborn-0.1.6.6, Minecraft1.20.1, and its Forge loader. Confirm that the profile does not silently select another release or loader. - Start the client once. This lets the launcher download libraries and gives you a quick check that the profile itself opens before you troubleshoot a server.
If your launcher displays a different release as current, use the release and server-pack filename that the project currently pairs together. Never combine the archived 0.2 server archive with 0.1.6.6 clients without explicit release notes saying that combination is supported.
2. Download the matching server pack
CurseForge exposes a “Minecraft 1.20 Server Packs” entry. One listed file is AvalonReborn_0.2_SP_server_pack.zip, a 720.63 MB archive for Minecraft 1.20.1 Forge, and its file page links a self-hosting guide. That archive is labeled 0.2, while the current project page lists 0.1.6.6. Treat it as an older server pack unless the project provides release notes explicitly pairing it with your client. The filename and release notes must agree with the client release you install.
3. Create a clean server directory
- Create a new folder with a clear name such as
Avalon-Reborn-Server-0.1.6.6. - Keep it separate from your CurseForge client instance and from other Minecraft servers.
- Extract the server-pack ZIP directly into this folder. Preserve the archive’s directory structure and bundled scripts; do not drag individual client folders or mod files into it.
The separate directory makes it easier to identify which release is running, take complete backups and roll back an update. It also avoids client-only configuration and launcher files being mistaken for server files.

- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world filled with surprises.

4. Read and use the supplied launcher
Open the extracted files and read the pack’s linked self-hosting instructions. Use the Forge server script or launcher supplied by that pack rather than inventing a command from a different Forge installation. The first run may create additional libraries, configuration files and an EULA file. If the script stops because a required file is missing, stop there and correct the extraction or follow the pack’s instructions; do not copy files from your desktop instance as a shortcut.

5. Accept the Minecraft EULA
When the launcher creates eula.txt, open it, review the license and change the EULA setting to acceptance only if you agree to it. Save the file and run the supplied launcher again. A server that stops immediately after its first launch commonly has not had this setting accepted.
6. Configure server.properties
After the first successful file-generation pass, open server.properties in a plain-text editor. Set only the options you understand, then save and restart the server so the changes are loaded. At minimum, review:
- server-port: The port your friends will use. If you change it, update firewall and router rules accordingly.
- server-ip: Usually leave this blank unless the pack’s instructions require binding to a specific local interface. Binding to the wrong address can make a working server unreachable.
- motd: A recognizable name so players can identify the correct server.
- difficulty: Choose the level appropriate for your group and the pack’s hardcore-oriented design.
- white-list: Enable it when only invited friends should join, then add players through the server console or the documented whitelist command.
- max-players: Set a number that reflects your actual group, not the number of mod projects in the pack.
- online-mode: Keep the normal authenticated setting unless you have a specific, well-understood reason to change it. Disabling authentication changes the server’s security model.
7. Start and inspect the console
Run the supplied server script again and wait for the normal ready message. Read the console from the first line instead of jumping straight to the player connection test. Look for missing-mod messages, dependency errors, wrong-loader errors, repeated exceptions or a world that fails to load. Stop and fix those issues before sharing the address.
Do not treat a server process that remains open as proof that the installation is correct. Forge can report warnings while continuing to start, and a missing dependency may only become obvious when a player joins or a particular dimension loads.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsRank #3
- CREATE YOUR WORLD — Build whatever you imagine in an infinite world that is unique in every playthrough.
- EXPLORE AND CRAFT — Discover biomes, resources, and mobs, then craft your way through a sandbox world full of surprises.
- SURVIVAL ADVENTURES — Face mysterious foes, travel across varied landscapes, and venture into perilous dimensions.
- PLAY TOGETHER — Play solo or join friends in local split-screen and cross-platform play across console, mobile, and PC. Online multiplayer supports up to 8 players.
- COMMUNITY PLAY — Connect with players on community servers, or subscribe to Realms Plus (sold separately) to play with up to 10 friends on a private server.
8. Test locally
Join from the same machine or local network first, using the exact client profile. Confirm that the world loads, blocks and items from the pack work, and the console records a normal login. A local test separates modpack problems from router, firewall and address problems.
9. Make the server reachable
If friends are outside your home network, allow the chosen Java/server process through the operating system firewall and forward the server port on your router to the computer running the server. Give friends the public address and port, not an address that exists only inside your home network. Some internet providers use carrier-grade NAT, which can prevent inbound connections; in that case, a managed host or another network solution may be more practical.
10. Add players and monitor the first session
Enable the whitelist before publishing the address, add each player’s authenticated Minecraft name, and watch CPU, memory, disk and console activity while the group explores. Keep the server window visible during the first session so you can stop it cleanly if errors appear.
How much RAM does Avalon Reborn need?
No official source in the published pack information gives a guaranteed RAM minimum or a tested player-to-memory formula. The figure of 278 mod projects describes the selected pack file; it is not a RAM recommendation. Memory needs vary with concurrent players, view and simulation distances, world generation, dimensions, entities, chunk-loading behavior and the CPU available to the server.
Use these practical rules instead of converting the mod count into a made-up number:
Rank #4
- Skins! We have biome settlers, city folk, town folk, and more!
- The Nether and all its inhabitants. Fight Ghasts and make friends with Pigmen
- Cross platform play for up to five players between Pocket Edition and Windows 10
- Revamped touch controls, controller support, and a controller mapping screen
- Enhanced Weather effects! Accumulating snow and more
- Start with the server-pack instructions and the memory settings of the machine or hosting plan you actually control.
- Leave memory for the operating system and Java process overhead; assigning every available gigabyte can make the host less stable.
- Measure during real exploration, not while the server is empty. Watch for garbage-collection pauses, rising memory use, tick-time warnings and disk swapping.
- Reduce view distance, simulation distance or other expensive settings before assuming that adding memory alone will solve lag.
- Increase resources only after confirming that memory is the bottleneck. A weak or shared CPU can limit a heavily modded server even when memory is available.
The managed plans below are provider descriptions, not Avalon Reborn performance benchmarks. They show the available package sizes, not a promise that a particular player count will run without tuning.
Set up a CurseForge managed server
CurseForge’s documented flow is useful when you do not want to manage a home server, expose a router port or upload files manually. The guide says provisioning is performed by Shockbyte and that Shockbyte supplies server support.
- Open Minecraft in the CurseForge app and select Servers.
- Search for Avalon Reborn.
- Select the modpack and verify the exact server-pack filename shown in the setup flow. Do not proceed if the filename belongs to a different release than your clients.
- Choose a hosting region and enter the server name and other requested details.
- Select a plan and complete payment through Tebex.
- Wait for provisioning, then use the connection information shown by CurseForge to test the server with the matching client profile.
- Configure the whitelist, difficulty and other server settings before sending the address to the group.
| Plan | Monthly price | Advertised RAM | Advertised CPU | Advertised players |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Iron | $12 per month | 4 GB | 2 shared CPUs | 1–5 players |
| Gold | $24 per month | 8 GB | 3 shared CPUs | 6–15 players |
| Diamond | $36 per month | 12 GB | 4 shared CPUs | 16–25 players |
These are the plan descriptions published by CurseForge Support in 2026. They are not laboratory results for Avalon Reborn, and the advertised player ranges do not remove the need to match the client release, monitor the server and tune world settings.

Install the exact pack for friends
Manual installation
- Have each player install the same Avalon Reborn release,
0.1.6.6, for Minecraft1.20.1. - Have each player use the same Forge loader build associated with that release, reported as
47.4.20. - Do not let a launcher update one player to a newer or older pack while the server remains on 0.1.6.6.
- Give players the server address and port only after the server passes its local test and the whitelist is ready.
- Ask players to record the exact error text if joining fails. A complete error message is more useful than repeatedly reinstalling the pack.
CurseForge profile sharing
CurseForge’s server-sharing feature can send a direct link or import code. When a friend uses it, the feature can add the server profile, modpack, IP address and connection information to that friend’s CurseForge app. The guide states that this does not create a separately billed server. The friend still needs a compatible Minecraft installation and must accept any required launcher prompts.
After importing, have the friend open the profile details and verify the release and loader before pressing Join. Profile sharing reduces typing and version-selection mistakes; it does not make a mismatched client compatible.
Best Value
- Play and share with friends on console, mobile and Windows 10
- discover community creations in the new in-game store
- access new mini games and game modes through servers
Security, backups and routine operation
Protect access
- Use a whitelist for a private group.
- Keep the server’s authentication setting in its normal secure mode.
- Share the public address only with people you trust.
- Give operators only to people who need administrative commands.
- Keep the host operating system, Java runtime used by the supplied launcher and network equipment maintained according to their vendors’ guidance.
Back up before changes
Stop the server cleanly before copying files. Back up the world directory, config, pack-specific settings, whitelist and operator files, and the server’s properties. Store at least one copy outside the live server directory. A backup made while chunks are being written can be incomplete.
Upgrade deliberately
- Record the current pack filename, release, Minecraft version and Forge build.
- Stop the server and create a complete backup.
- Read the new release notes and confirm that a matching server pack exists.
- Extract the new server pack into a new directory rather than overwriting the working installation.
- Move or merge configuration changes only when the release instructions say they are compatible.
- Start the new directory, inspect the console and test with one client before inviting everyone.
- Keep the old directory untouched until the upgraded world has been verified.
Troubleshoot common setup failures
The server stops immediately
Check whether the EULA file still requires acceptance, whether the supplied script is being run from the extracted server directory, and whether the archive was fully extracted. Read the first error in the console rather than the final shutdown line.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Forge reports missing or incompatible mods
Confirm the server-pack filename, Minecraft version, Forge build and client release. A 0.2 server archive and a 0.1.6.6 client are not automatically a supported pair. Re-extract the matching server pack into a clean directory instead of copying individual files from a client installation.
A friend receives a mod-list or registry mismatch
Compare the two profile versions and loader builds. Make sure neither launcher applied a silent update, and ensure the friend imported the complete profile rather than installing only a subset of mods.
The server runs but players cannot connect
Test locally first. If local joining works, check the host firewall, router forwarding, the public address and the port shown in server.properties. If the internet connection uses carrier-grade NAT, inbound forwarding may not be possible; use a reachable managed host instead.
The world lags during exploration
Watch the console and host metrics while players generate new terrain. Distinguish memory pressure from CPU or disk limits, then adjust view and simulation distances or reduce simultaneous exploration. The 278-mod count alone cannot identify the bottleneck.
The server becomes unstable after an update
Stop using the new directory, restore the pre-update backup and return to the last known-good pack. Recheck release notes and obtain a server pack that explicitly matches the client before trying again.
Quick Recap
Final setup checklist
- Client and server use the same Avalon Reborn release.
- Minecraft is 1.20.1 and the Forge build matches the selected release.
- The server came from a matching server-pack archive, not a copied client folder.
- The server has its own directory and the supplied launcher starts without dependency errors.
- The EULA was accepted after review.
server.propertieshas the intended port, difficulty, whitelist and player limit.- A local connection test succeeded.
- Firewall, router or managed-host connection details were tested from outside the host network.
- Backups exist before players build or before you upgrade.
- Friends installed or imported the exact same profile and loader.
