Australian Military Bank’s Home Contents Plus is a contents-only policy tier, not building insurance. Its published features include accidental damage at home, electrical motor burnout and a benefit labelled “Owner fixtures – Strata scheme.” That can make it relevant to unit owners, but the available summary does not define which fixtures qualify or settle the boundary between a lot owner’s cover and the owners corporation’s insurance.
What Home Contents Plus is—and is not
Australian Military Bank lists four home-insurance tiers: Building Plus, Building Standard, Contents Plus and Contents Standard. Contents Plus is the contents option; it should not be treated as a substitute for building insurance or as a policy that necessarily covers every part of a strata lot. The bank’s home insurance page presents the tiers and their features.
For a strata owner, the practical question is how the policy’s contents and owner-fixture cover intersects with the scheme’s building policy. The bank’s comparison table names “Owner fixtures – Strata scheme” under both Contents Plus and Contents Standard, but its public summary does not define the term or explain the dividing line between owner fixtures and common property. Check the scheme’s insurance schedule and strata records alongside the policy documents rather than assuming that a particular fitting is covered by one policy or the other.
What Contents Plus adds to Contents Standard
On the bank’s published comparison table, these two protections are included with Contents Plus and optional with Contents Standard:
#1 Best Overall
- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
- Accidental damage at home. Contents Plus includes it as standard; Contents Standard lists it as an option.
- Electrical motor burnout. Contents Plus includes it as standard; Contents Standard lists it as an option.
The page also lists cover for events such as theft or attempted theft, fire, flood or rainwater run-off, storm, storm surge or tsunami, and escape of water or liquid across its listed levels. These are subject to policy terms, definitions, limits and exclusions; the feature summary alone does not establish how a particular claim would be assessed.
Strata fixtures: verify the boundary before relying on cover
The “Owner fixtures – Strata scheme” label is useful to notice, but it is not a complete coverage definition. The accessible product summary does not establish which fixtures are included, how ownership or installation affects eligibility, or how the benefit coordinates with a strata scheme’s insurance.

Before buying or making a claim, compare the live policy wording and certificate with the strata insurance schedule and relevant scheme records. If the documents do not clearly allocate a fixture, ask the insurer and strata manager to clarify the position in writing. Do not infer that a fixture is covered merely because it is inside the unit.

Items taken away from home
The bank lists “Contents away from home” as an additional benefit for contents tiers, while Portable Contents is an optional benefit for items taken outside the home. Examples the bank gives for portable items include glasses, jewellery, laptops and mobile phones. Those labels do not show the precise scope, locations, conditions or limits; confirm them in the policy documents before relying on cover while travelling or carrying belongings day to day.
Contents in storage
The bank says general contents in storage may be covered if CGU is told before the move and the storage arrangement meets its acceptance criteria. Valuable Contents are not covered while in storage, according to the product summary. Get acceptance confirmed before moving possessions into storage and check the applicable conditions.

The product page does not establish current premiums, discounts, excesses or a like-for-like ranking against other insurers. It also does not supply enough policy wording to verify full event definitions and exclusions, detailed limits, the fixture definition, claim settlement basis or eligibility criteria. Avoid judging value from the tier name or a feature list: premiums and cover need to be compared using the same address, contents sum insured, excess and optional benefits.

Australian Military Bank’s disclosure documents index lists the Home and Contents Insurance PDS. A CGU PDS search result identified as revision 0, February 2025, was surfaced at this PDF address, but it returned an error when accessed. That does not establish that the document is the current operative wording. Obtain the live PDS and your certificate from the bank before purchase and use those documents for the binding terms.
How to assess it for your unit
- Establish what the strata policy insures. Review the scheme’s insurance schedule and relevant strata records to understand what is insured as building or common property.
- Work out what you need to insure personally. List household contents and identify any fixtures whose responsibility is unclear. Do not assume the policy’s brief strata-fixture label answers that question.
- Check the policy wording and certificate. Confirm the operative terms, limits, exclusions, excesses and claims settlement basis, along with the conditions for the features you expect to use.
- Compare the right options on equal assumptions. Check the contents sum insured and replacement basis, fixture treatment, event cover, accidental damage, motor burnout, valuables limits, portable cover, excesses, temporary accommodation and storage conditions. Compare premiums only with the same address, sum insured, excess and optional benefits.
- Resolve uncertainties before paying. Ask the insurer about unclear coverage and keep the answer with your policy records.
Australian Military Bank says it acts under its own Australian financial services licence and under an agreement with Insurance Australia Limited (AFSL 227681), issuing under the CGU brand; see its insurance disclosure.
