Choose AuraV when you want path-traced lighting, ray-traced reflections and a rebuilt atmosphere, and your PC has an NVIDIA RTX-class graphics card. Choose VisualV when your priority is a broad weather, cloud, fog and color overhaul with a well-documented Legacy package. If you use another overhaul, match its release to your exact GTA V branch first: Enhanced and Legacy are separate modding targets, and similarly named projects are not interchangeable. No published AuraV benchmark establishes a guaranteed frame rate or minimum GPU, so the right choice depends on edition, visual taste, hardware headroom and how much installation work you accept.
Quick answer: which mod fits your priorities?
There is no universal “best” GTA V graphics mod. AuraV and VisualV pursue different kinds of upgrades, while the NaturalVision family has separate releases for the two PC game branches. Use this table as a first filter, then read the edition and installation details before downloading anything.
| What matters most | Best fit | Why | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|---|
| Path-traced lighting and reflections | AuraV | Its creator emphasizes path tracing, ray-traced reflections, sky and atmosphere reconstruction, weather, water, smoke and skin-lighting effects. | The creator says path tracing is built for NVIDIA RTX cards, but no AuraV-specific minimum GPU or frame-rate test is published. |
| Free entry point | AuraV Lite | The Lite edition is free and includes the sky, lighting, weather and path-tracing features listed by the creator. | AuraV Full is a separate Early Access edition for patrons and adds water and vehicle effects. |
| Weather, clouds, fog and conventional lighting changes | VisualV | Its listing describes rewritten weather, increased light draw distance, revised clouds and fog, plus optional visual changes. | Enhanced and Legacy use different versions and different installation routes. |
| Legacy-specific NaturalVision setup | NaturalVision Evolved | A July 24, 2026 comparison guide identifies Evolved as the Legacy branch. | This is a dated third-party guide, not a permanent compatibility guarantee; check the creator’s current release page. |
| Enhanced-specific NaturalVision setup | NaturalVision Enhanced | The same guide identifies Enhanced as the Enhanced branch. | Do not install the Legacy package on Enhanced or assume the names indicate interchangeable files. |
| Lowest uncertainty about performance | None can be selected from the available evidence | No controlled AuraV-versus-competitor benchmark has been published. | Test on your own save and hardware rather than treating base-game requirements as mod requirements. |
Start with the GTA V edition, not the screenshot
On PC, first determine whether your installation is GTA V Enhanced or GTA V Legacy. AuraV publishes separate releases: AuraV Enhanced is for Enhanced, while AuraV Legacy is listed for Legacy and FiveM. A file made for one branch may fail to load, produce missing effects or create an unstable setup on the other.
The wider mod scene is split the same way. A comparison guide dated July 24, 2026 describes NaturalVision Evolved as the Legacy branch and NaturalVision Enhanced as the Enhanced branch. It also says QuantV’s Enhanced status was not clearly documented in that guide. Those labels are useful orientation, not a substitute for checking each project’s current release notes. GTA V updates can change executable and archive behavior, so verify the branch on the creator’s page immediately before installation.

How to identify your branch safely
- Open the launcher or game library entry you use for GTA V and note whether it labels the installation Enhanced or Legacy.
- Check the mod’s release page for an explicit Enhanced, Legacy or FiveM designation. Do not infer compatibility from a similar version number.
- Keep separate modded folders or profiles when possible. This makes it easier to return to an unmodified game if a branch mismatch occurs.
Rockstar’s published PC system requirements, updated December 10, 2025, list separate requirements for Enhanced and Legacy and warn that requirements may change. They describe the base game, not the additional load created by AuraV or another graphics overhaul.
What AuraV actually changes
AuraV is a PC graphics overhaul by Kypos. The creator describes it as “AuraV is a free graphics mod for Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced on PC.” That sentence is a publisher description, not an independent performance assessment. The official feature and compatibility information is on the AuraV creator site.
AuraV Lite: the free feature set
AuraV Lite is the free edition. The creator lists these core elements:
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →- Rebuilt sky and atmosphere.
- Lighting changes with path tracing.
- Weather changes.
- Path-traced lighting intended for compatible RTX hardware.
These features target the overall lighting model rather than only replacing textures. Expect the most visible differences in the way sunlight, artificial lights, sky color, fog and reflections contribute to a scene. The exact appearance varies with weather, time of day and the game area, so a daylight screenshot is not a complete representation of the mod.
AuraV Full (Early Access): additional effects
The Full edition is offered to patrons as an Early Access release. It includes the Lite features and adds water and vehicle effects, according to the creator’s edition description. Because it is an Early Access tier, feature availability and packaging can change; confirm the current contents and access terms on the creator site before subscribing. The creator does not state a commission, affiliate arrangement or guaranteed future feature list.
Ray tracing, RTX and DLSS Ray Reconstruction
The creator says AuraV’s path tracing is built for NVIDIA RTX graphics cards and describes use of DLSS Ray Reconstruction. That identifies the intended hardware and rendering path, but it does not establish a particular card as a minimum or guarantee smooth play. RTX support is a capability category, not a performance promise: resolution, ray-tracing settings, CPU limits, traffic density, weather and other mods all affect frame time.

Installing AuraV on Enhanced
The creator’s brief Enhanced procedure is straightforward, but follow the current package readme if it differs. The steps below follow the creator’s published path.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches- Download the AuraV Enhanced release that matches your game branch and edition.
- Unzip the downloaded files beside the GTA V game executable. “Beside” means the same directory level as the executable, not an arbitrary downloads or documents folder.
- Launch GTA V and enter Story Mode. The published instruction is for Story Mode; do not assume the same procedure applies to every multiplayer or FiveM setup.
- Press F10 to open AuraV’s settings interface.
- Adjust the available options gradually. Change one group at a time so you can identify which setting affects image quality or frame time.
The site says AuraV checks for updates when the game starts and displays a notice when a newer version is available. Read the update notes before replacing files, especially after a GTA V game update. Save a copy of the previous working installation or use a separate mod profile so you can roll back if an update breaks compatibility.
What the published instructions do not establish
- They do not specify an AuraV minimum GPU, CPU, RAM amount or storage requirement.
- They do not provide an FPS target or a controlled before-and-after benchmark.
- They do not provide a universal Legacy installation recipe in the cited material; Legacy and FiveM users should follow the current package instructions for those releases.
Those omissions matter. Do not convert the base-game numbers on Rockstar’s support page into an AuraV specification, and do not assume that an Enhanced installation will work unchanged on Legacy.
VisualV: a different kind of overhaul
VisualV’s listing, updated July 17, 2026, positions it as a weather and lighting overhaul rather than a path-tracing showcase. Its described changes include rewritten weather, greater light draw distance, revised clouds and fog, and optional visual changes. This makes it a natural comparison for someone who wants a coherent atmosphere and color shift without choosing a mod primarily for path-traced effects.
VisualV versions and branch support
The listing showed:
| Branch | Version shown on July 17, 2026 | Installation route described by the listing |
|---|---|---|
| GTA V Enhanced | 2.0.640 | Manual file placement using CodeWalker and OpenRPF. |
| GTA V Legacy | 1.0.630 | An OpenIV package route. |
Version numbers and package instructions are time-sensitive. Use the listing’s current files rather than copying an old tutorial. Enhanced’s manual placement is more involved than the Legacy package route described there, so installation effort is part of the choice.
The Tool Desk
Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEFix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →VisualV conflict to check before combining mods
The listing says VisualV’s advanced motion blur is incompatible with NaturalVision Evolved and NaturalVision Remastered scripts because the game does not allow multiple timecycle modifiers through natives. If you already use one of those scripts, disable the conflicting motion-blur component or choose one visual stack. Installing both and hoping the last file copied wins can produce inconsistent weather, lighting or post-processing.

How the major options differ
The following comparison separates documented characteristics from unknowns. It does not claim a winner in image quality or speed because no controlled AuraV-versus-competitor test has been published.
| Option | Supported branch in the cited material | Visual emphasis | Access | Installation and maintenance notes | Performance evidence |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| AuraV Lite | Enhanced release; a Legacy release is also listed, with FiveM named for Legacy. | Path-traced lighting, ray-traced reflections, sky, atmosphere and weather. | Free. | Enhanced: unzip beside the executable, launch Story Mode and press F10; startup update check is described. | No AuraV-specific FPS, GPU benchmark or minimum specification stated. |
| AuraV Full (Early Access) | Edition availability is described by the creator; verify the current branch package. | Lite features plus water and vehicle effects. | Available to patrons. | Early Access contents can change; check current creator information. | No mod-specific benchmark stated. |
| VisualV | Enhanced 2.0.640 and Legacy 1.0.630 were listed July 17, 2026. | Weather, light draw distance, clouds, fog and optional visual changes. | Listing provides the packages. | Enhanced manual placement with CodeWalker/OpenRPF; Legacy OpenIV package. Advanced motion blur conflicts with specified timecycle scripts. | No controlled comparison with AuraV stated. |
| NaturalVision Evolved | Identified as Legacy by the July 24, 2026 comparison guide. | Not quantified in the cited guide for this comparison. | Check the current creator release. | Do not assume Legacy files work on Enhanced. | No AuraV comparison benchmark stated. |
| NaturalVision Enhanced | Identified as Enhanced by the July 24, 2026 comparison guide. | Not quantified in the cited guide for this comparison. | Check the current creator release. | Use the Enhanced branch and current installation instructions. | No AuraV comparison benchmark stated. |
| QuantV | Enhanced status was not clearly documented in the cited July 24, 2026 guide. | Not established by the cited material. | Verify current availability independently. | Do not install until branch support is explicit. | No AuraV comparison benchmark stated. |
Hardware and performance: what you can and cannot conclude
AuraV’s creator specifically points to NVIDIA RTX hardware for path tracing and mentions DLSS Ray Reconstruction. That is the strongest hardware guidance available for AuraV, but it is not a named minimum model. No attributable test is published showing an average FPS, one-percent-low result, frame-time change or tested resolution.
Why Rockstar’s requirements are not AuraV requirements
Rockstar’s system-requirements page covers GTA V Enhanced and Legacy as games. A graphics overhaul adds rendering work after those requirements were written, and Rockstar notes that requirements may change over time. Treat the page as a baseline for launching the unmodded branch, not evidence that AuraV will run at a particular frame rate.
A practical way to evaluate your own system
- Record a repeatable route in Story Mode: the same location, weather, time of day and camera movement.
- Run the route without the mod and note average frame rate, frame-time consistency and GPU utilization using your normal monitoring tool.
- Install the matching AuraV branch and repeat the route with the same resolution and upscaling settings.
- Open AuraV’s F10 settings and change one expensive feature at a time. Keep a note of the setting and observed frame-time change.
- Test several conditions, including night lighting, rain, reflective water and a busy street. A single sunny scene can hide the situations that stress path tracing.
This process produces a result for your hardware and settings, not a universal AuraV benchmark. If the game becomes unstable, revert the last change and restore the known-working files.

Pick AuraV Lite for a lighting-first transformation
AuraV Lite is the logical starting point if the appeal of GTA V graphics mods is physically richer light, reflections, sky and atmosphere. It gives you the free core feature set before you decide whether the Full Early Access effects justify patron access. It is especially relevant when you have RTX hardware and are comfortable evaluating performance yourself.
Pick AuraV Full when water and vehicle effects are decisive
Choose the Full Early Access edition only if its additional water and vehicle effects matter to your play. Patron access is a purchase decision separate from the free Lite download; confirm current benefits and compatibility before paying.

Pick VisualV for weather and atmosphere without making path tracing the centerpiece
VisualV suits players who care most about rewritten weather, cloud and fog behavior, light draw distance and a broad color presentation. Its branch-specific packages and documented installation routes can make the choice clearer, but Enhanced users should allow time for manual CodeWalker/OpenRPF placement.
Pick a NaturalVision branch only after confirming the edition
If your preferred look comes from the NaturalVision ecosystem, select Evolved for Legacy or Enhanced for Enhanced according to the dated comparison guide, then verify the creator’s current release. Do not mix the branches, and check for timecycle-script conflicts before adding VisualV components.
Installation and maintenance pitfalls
Installing the wrong branch
The most serious avoidable error is treating Enhanced and Legacy as interchangeable. A package can appear to install correctly while failing to load effects or causing crashes. Confirm the branch in the download title, readme and creator page before extracting files.
Stacking multiple timecycle systems
VisualV’s listing specifically warns that its advanced motion blur cannot coexist with NaturalVision Evolved or Remastered scripts because GTA V does not allow multiple timecycle modifiers through natives. Decide which mod owns timecycle behavior and remove the conflicting component rather than layering both.
Updating without a rollback path
AuraV checks for updates at game start, and GTA V itself can change through launcher updates. Keep an untouched copy of the executable directory or a separate mod profile. When an update arrives, read the mod notes, test Story Mode first and only then return to other installs.
Assuming a screenshot proves performance
Resolution, weather, time of day, traffic, ray-tracing settings and upscaling can make two screenshots look similar while running at very different frame times. Use repeatable tests and report your own settings if you share results; do not quote an FPS figure that the cited sources do not provide.
A decision checklist
- Edition: Confirm Enhanced, Legacy or FiveM.
- Goal: Choose path-traced lighting and reflections (AuraV) or weather, clouds, fog and draw-distance changes (VisualV).
- Hardware: If choosing AuraV, verify that your system has an NVIDIA RTX-class GPU and enough headroom for your chosen resolution; no specific card is guaranteed.
- Access: Start with free AuraV Lite; consider Full Early Access only for its additional water and vehicle effects.
- Installation: Allow for AuraV’s executable-directory extraction or VisualV Enhanced’s CodeWalker/OpenRPF placement.
- Conflicts: Check timecycle and motion-blur compatibility before combining projects.
- Testing: Measure your own repeatable route and keep a rollback copy before updating.
Bottom line: AuraV is the better fit for an RTX-equipped player seeking path-traced atmosphere and reflections; VisualV is the safer stylistic match for a weather-and-lighting overhaul. Neither has a documented universal performance advantage, and the correct branch matters more than any screenshot.
