There is no evidence-backed universal winner between Aura and Incogni in 2026. Aura is the stronger fit if you want data-broker removal bundled with three-bureau credit monitoring, identity-theft alerts and insurance, antivirus, a VPN, password management, and family features. Incogni is the better fit when recurring personal-data removal is your main objective, especially if you need custom requests through an Unlimited plan.
The services have different scopes, so “which performs best?” depends on what you are trying to protect. Available sources describe plans and coverage claims, but do not provide an independent, like-for-like Aura-versus-Incogni removal test. Treat broker totals as marketing claims rather than proof that one service removes more of your records.
Quick verdict: Aura for a protection suite, Incogni for focused removal
| Service | Primary job | Removal model | Custom requests | Protection beyond removal | Household options | Geography and pricing context |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Aura | Privacy, identity, credit, and device protection in one subscription | Advertised removal from 425+ data brokers, people-search sites, junk-mailers, and Google search results | Not established by the cited Aura pages | Three-bureau credit monitoring, identity-theft alerts and insurance, antivirus, VPN, password manager, and family tools | Family features are included in certain plans; the exact household structure depends on the current plan page | Aura’s pages do not establish a complete country-by-country availability matrix. Live price depends on plan, term, and promotion. |
| Incogni | Recurring personal-data removal from data brokers | Standard automates removals; Unlimited adds requests handled by privacy specialists, including sites outside Standard coverage | Included with Unlimited and Family Unlimited | Optional Incogni Protect combines removal, continuous monitoring, and identity-theft recovery support | Family covers the subscriber plus four additional members; Family Unlimited gives each member custom removals | Removal coverage can differ by location. Plan pages and comparison pages change, and the cited material uses different billing periods and promotions. Check the final checkout amount for the same term and number of people before comparing cost. Figures and feature descriptions above reflect provider pages available in 2026; they are not the result of a shared laboratory test.
What “performs best” should mean in this comparison
A removal service can be judged on several separate outcomes:
#1 Best Overall
- Identification: whether it finds records that actually belong to you rather than matching someone with a similar name.
- Request handling: whether it submits valid opt-out requests and follows up when a broker requires additional steps.
- Persistence: whether it repeats checks after information reappears.
- Coverage: which brokers, people-search sites, advertising databases, and search results are in scope.
- Protection after exposure: whether the subscription helps with credit alerts, account takeover, device malware, or identity-theft recovery.
Aura and Incogni emphasize different points on that list. Aura packages removal with a broad security and identity service. Incogni concentrates on automated, recurring broker requests and offers a higher-touch option for customers who choose Unlimited. Neither provider’s advertised broker count tells you how many accurate matches will be found for your particular name, address history, phone number, or region.
What Aura includes
Removal across several types of public and commercial sources
Aura’s official pricing page says its service covers more than 425 data brokers and related sources, including people-search sites, junk-mailers, and Google search results. That is a provider-stated coverage claim. It does not mean that 425 or more records about every subscriber will be found, that every request will succeed, or that a removed record cannot return later.
The inclusion of search results and junk-mail sources broadens the task beyond a conventional data-broker list. Someone trying to reduce public exposure, unsolicited mail, and name-based search results may value that wider scope even if they never need the rest of Aura’s security tools.
Recommended Free Tools
Credit and identity monitoring
Aura lists three-bureau credit monitoring and identity-theft protection alongside removal. Monitoring all three major credit bureaus can help surface new-account activity, inquiries, or changes that a single-bureau product could miss. The service also advertises identity alerts and identity-theft insurance.
Insurance is subject to the underlying policy’s terms, exclusions, eligibility rules, and limits. The headline limit should not be read as unconditional cash coverage. Before subscribing, read the current policy document and confirm what expenses, legal services, restoration work, and family members are covered in your jurisdiction.
Device and account protections
Aura’s pricing page also lists antivirus, a VPN, and a password manager. Those features address risks that data removal alone cannot: malicious software on a device, interception on an untrusted network, and reuse of weak or exposed passwords. They may be useful if you would otherwise buy and manage separate products, but they also make Aura a broader bundle than a dedicated removal service.
Family use
Aura offers family features, but the exact number of adults or children and the feature limits depend on the current plan. Compare the plan’s household definition with your actual household before using a per-person cost calculation. A plan that appears inexpensive for one adult may be less attractive if additional members require a higher tier, while a family bundle can be valuable when everyone needs monitoring and device tools.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsWho is most likely to prefer Aura?
- You want one subscription for data removal, credit monitoring, identity alerts, and device security.
- You would otherwise pay for separate antivirus, VPN, password-management, and identity-protection products.
- You need credit visibility or identity-theft recovery, not only fewer broker listings.
- You are comparing household coverage rather than the lowest individual removal price.
What Incogni includes
Standard automated removals
Incogni’s official pricing page describes Standard as an automated removal service. It submits recurring requests to data brokers and continues the process rather than treating opt-out as a one-time form submission. The exact brokers and legal route can vary by location.
Unlimited and custom removals
Incogni Unlimited adds custom removals handled by privacy specialists. The plan is designed for sites that are not covered by Standard or for cases that need a tailored request. That distinction matters when a particular people-search site, local directory, or specialized database continues to display your information after automated requests have been sent.
“Custom” does not guarantee that every site will remove a record. A broker may have a legal exemption, require proof of identity, or lack a process that applies to your location. The benefit is that Incogni’s specialists handle requests that are outside the standard automation scope.
Family and Family Unlimited
Incogni’s Family plan covers the subscriber plus four additional members. Family Unlimited gives each member access to custom removals, rather than limiting specialist handling to the primary account. Count the people who need service and check whether each person must provide separate identity and address information during enrollment.

Incogni Protect
Incogni describes Protect as its most comprehensive plan: “Incogni Protect is Incogni’s most comprehensive plan, combining personal data removal, continuous monitoring, and identity theft recovery support into a single service.” The statement comes from Incogni’s official Help Center and is a vendor description, not independent validation.
Protect is an optional package layered around removal. Its monitoring and recovery support can make Incogni more suitable for someone who wants help after a suspected identity incident, but it still does not replicate every feature in a full identity-and-device bundle. Review exactly what is included before assuming that Protect provides credit monitoring, antivirus, a VPN, or the same insurance terms as Aura.
Who is most likely to prefer Incogni?
- Your central goal is to reduce the amount of personal information held by brokers.
- You want recurring requests without paying for unrelated security tools.
- You have identified specific sites that require custom handling and are willing to choose Unlimited.
- You need a family service in which every covered member can request specialist removals through Family Unlimited.
Which service removes more of your information?
The available figures cannot answer that question reliably. Aura’s current pricing page advertises coverage of 425+ brokers and related sources. Aura’s June 2026 comparison page describes Incogni Unlimited as covering 420+ brokers. Incogni’s own comparison page says Aura claims 425+ coverage but characterizes Aura’s published list as featuring only 200+ entries.
Those numbers come from competing vendor pages with different definitions, list dates, and presentation. “Covered” can mean that a service has a process for a broker, not that it found and successfully deleted a matching record for you. A larger list can also include sources that are irrelevant to your country or personal profile.
Use counts only as a starting point. For a meaningful comparison, ask four questions:
- Is the broker available in your country and state or province?
- Does the service identify your record accurately, or could it confuse you with another person?
- Does it repeat checks after a broker republishes information?
- What happens when the site is outside the automated list or requires a custom request?
What independent evidence says—and does not say
A 2025 empirical paper by Jiahui He, Pete Snyder, Hamed Haddadi, Fabián E. Bustamante, and Gareth Tyson examined commercial personal-information-removal services at the category level. Its abstract reports that only 41.1% of records identified by the services studied were personal information about the study participants.
That result is important because it highlights false matches and coverage limitations in this product category. It is not an Aura score, an Incogni score, or a head-to-head ranking. The paper does not establish that one of these two services finds more accurate records than the other. Apply the lesson to both subscriptions: check the matches shown in your account, avoid approving a removal for someone else’s record, and treat a “removed” status as a claim about a particular source at a particular time.
Custom removals: when Unlimited changes the decision
Custom handling is the clearest functional difference between Incogni’s tiers. Standard automation is efficient when the site is already supported and accepts a routine request. Unlimited is more relevant when you have a known problem source, a broker outside the standard list, or a request that needs specialist follow-up.

Outbyte PC Repair FREERepair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Outbyte Driver Updater FREEScan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Before paying for Unlimited, make a short inventory:
- Write down the exact URLs or company names showing your data.
- Record which fields are visible: phone number, home address, relatives, employer, age, or email address.
- Note your country, state, or province because legal rights and broker procedures differ.
- Check whether the same information appears under an old address or a previous surname.
Then confirm that the current Unlimited description accepts those sources and that custom requests are available to every intended household member. A custom tier is valuable only when the specialist process covers the problem you actually have.
Is Aura worth paying more for identity protection?
It can be, if you would use the bundled protections. Aura’s value is not just the removal queue: it combines removal with three-bureau credit monitoring, identity alerts, insurance, antivirus, VPN access, password management, and family tools. Buying those capabilities separately may cost more and require several dashboards, renewals, and support channels.
Do not pay for the bundle solely because its broker number is higher. The available sources do not prove that Aura removes more records than Incogni. Choose Aura for the breadth of protection, convenience, and household features; choose a focused service when those extras would sit unused.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Geography and legal eligibility
Incogni says it submits requests under laws and regulations that can include the GDPR, UK GDPR, California Consumer Privacy Act, and Canada’s PIPEDA. It also warns that removal scope may differ by location. The supported-country list should be checked before enrollment because a legal right available in one jurisdiction may not apply in another.
Incogni Protect has a narrower eligibility statement: it is available only to U.S. residents, including U.S. territories and Washington, DC. Residents of New York and Washington can receive the service benefits except for insurance. That exception is material if you are comparing identity-recovery support with Aura’s insurance offering.
The Aura pages considered here do not establish a complete country-by-country matrix for its removal feature. Do not assume that an Aura plan available for purchase in your country provides the same removal scope described on a U.S. pricing page. Confirm availability, applicable law, and policy terms for your address before entering payment details.
Pricing: compare like with like
Pricing information appears in several contexts: Aura’s live pricing page, an Aura comparison page with a special annual-discount link, Incogni’s plan pages, and a June 2026 TechRadar comparison. A promotional annual figure is not a permanent list price, and a monthly price cannot be compared fairly with an annual total.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
Use this process:
- Select the same billing period for both services.
- Choose the same household size and include any Unlimited or Protect upgrade you would actually need.
- Check whether the displayed amount is a first-term promotion, a discount-link price, or the recurring renewal amount.
- Read the refund, cancellation, and automatic-renewal terms before paying.
- Save the final checkout total and the plan name so you can compare renewal pricing later.
Because plan names, promotions, and feature limits can change, the final checkout amount in October 2026 is more reliable than an older article’s price table. The cited pages do not establish one stable price that applies to every reader.

One adult focused on broker exposure
Start with Incogni Standard if your targets are covered by automation. Move to Unlimited when you need specialist requests. Aura becomes more compelling if you also want credit monitoring, insurance, and device security.
Several adults who need custom requests
Compare Incogni Family Unlimited with Aura’s current family tier. Incogni explicitly covers the subscriber plus four additional members and gives each Family Unlimited member custom removals. Aura’s family structure and feature limits must be checked on its current plan page.
A household worried about identity theft
Compare the actual recovery and insurance terms rather than the removal counts. Aura lists identity-theft insurance and three-bureau monitoring. Incogni Protect offers monitoring and identity-theft recovery support, but its U.S.-only eligibility and insurance limitation for New York and Washington residents affect the comparison.

Check the current country list and legal basis before selecting either service. Incogni documents GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and PIPEDA routes but says scope differs by location. Aura’s consulted pages do not provide a complete global matrix, so its U.S.-oriented feature description should not be generalized.
Best Value
Enrollment and first-month checklist
Whichever service you choose, accurate information improves matching and reduces mistaken removals.
- Confirm eligibility. Check your country, state or province, and whether the selected plan is available at your address.
- Choose the scope. Decide whether you need Standard automation, Unlimited custom requests, family coverage, or an identity-protection bundle.
- Prepare identity details. Gather current and previous addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, and name variations that brokers may hold.
- Review every match. Approve only records that clearly belong to you. Investigate ambiguous matches instead of deleting them automatically.
- Document priority sources. Keep a list of important broker pages and any site that continues to display your data.
- Recheck after processing. Search the same sources later; recurring removal is valuable because information can return.
- Reassess at renewal. Compare the renewal price, household use, successful removals, and any protection features you actually used.
Common mistakes and how to avoid them
Equating coverage with success
A published count is not a success rate. A service can cover a broker without finding a matching record, and a broker can re-create a listing after removal. Evaluate the records in your account and the persistence of results.
Choosing a family plan without counting members
List every adult and child who needs service, then check which protections each person receives. Incogni Family includes five total members, while Aura’s household rules depend on its plan. Do not divide the headline price by an assumed number of people.
Assuming custom means unlimited everywhere
Incogni Unlimited adds specialist requests, but legal exemptions, identity verification, and regional restrictions still apply. Confirm that your target site is eligible before treating Unlimited as a guarantee.
Ignoring insurance exclusions
Insurance limits are governed by policy language. Read exclusions, deductibles, covered expenses, residency rules, and claim procedures instead of relying on a headline amount.
Using an old promotional price
Annual discounts and special links can expire or apply only to the first term. Record the recurring renewal price shown at checkout and compare identical billing periods.
Final decision
Choose Aura when you want a broad identity-and-device-protection suite with removal included, especially if credit monitoring, insurance, password management, antivirus, VPN access, or family tools would replace several separate subscriptions.
Choose Incogni when recurring data-broker removal is the central job. Select Unlimited when you need custom requests, or Family Unlimited when multiple members each need specialist handling. Add Protect only after confirming that its U.S. eligibility, monitoring, recovery support, and insurance rules fit your location.
Neither service can be declared the 2026 performance winner from the available evidence. The practical winner is the one whose scope matches your risk: Aura for bundled identity protection, Incogni for focused and customizable data removal.
