Sometimes—but not for every AT&T customer. AT&T currently lists Extended Wi-Fi Coverage at $10 per month and says it is included with its fastest fiber plans. The company does not identify those qualifying plans on the public page, so check your account or bill to confirm whether you qualify and whether you will be charged. An extender provided with the service is not necessarily yours to keep: AT&T says some supplied equipment must be returned when the associated service is cancelled.
When does AT&T provide a Wi-Fi extender at no extra charge?
AT&T says Extended Wi-Fi Coverage is included with its fastest fiber plans, but its current extender page does not name the qualifying tiers. That means it is not safe to assume that every AT&T Fiber customer receives the service at no extra charge. Check the terms for your specific plan in your account or bill before relying on the inclusion.
For customers who add Extended Wi-Fi Coverage, AT&T lists the recurring price as $10 per month, subject to change. The number of extenders is determined by AT&T. Your account’s current offer and billing terms are the best way to confirm the charge that applies to you.

Which device comes with the service?
The device depends on the AT&T internet product. AT&T says Extended Wi-Fi Service added to an internet plan includes an AirTies 4971 extender; with AT&T Internet Air, it includes an All-Fi Booster. The Internet Air device works with the All-Fi Hub, while Wi-Fi Extenders pair with AT&T Wi-Fi gateways used for Internet or Fiber service. See AT&T’s equipment details and Extended Wi-Fi FAQ.

AT&T describes the service as including a device, Smart Home Manager tools and possible free replacement if a device is defective while the service remains active. That describes a service benefit, not necessarily a free-to-keep hardware gift: AT&T says the AirTies 4971 and All-Fi Booster, along with their power supplies, must be returned if the associated service is cancelled. AT&T separately says older AirTies 4920 and 4921 models were available for purchase and do not have to be returned.
How can you find out if an extender will help?
- Open the Smart Home Manager app and look for the Extend your Wi-Fi card.
- If the card appears, select it and follow the prompts to check whether AT&T recommends extending coverage.
- If you want to add or manage equipment, open Network, select the Wi-Fi equipment card or the plus symbol, and follow the setup prompts.
AT&T says the Extend your Wi-Fi card appears only when it has detected Wi-Fi issues in the home. Setup is also available in Smart Home Manager in a browser, under Home Network Hardware. These paths are documented in AT&T’s FAQ and setup instructions.

Check compatibility before buying a separate extender
AT&T lists specific combinations for its equipment. Match the extender model to the exact gateway or hub model before purchasing:

AT&T also names the 4971, 4971EM, 4981 and 4991 as its AirTies models for using the gateway mesh network. That does not mean every model works with every gateway. AT&T cautions that non-AT&T AirTies may not support all Smart Home Network and Smart Home Manager features. Review the model-specific setup instructions and compatibility note before choosing separate hardware.

AT&T distinguishes Wi-Fi Extenders for Wi-Fi gateways from All-Fi Boosters for the All-Fi Hub and Internet Air. It also advises removing older AirTies units when installing a newer extender or booster, because older units may not work well with the newer device.
Can you connect an extender with Ethernet?
AT&T calls a direct Ethernet connection between the gateway or All-Fi Hub and extender or booster Ethernet backhaul. Supported units can use Cat 5E or later cable. If the devices were not previously paired, AT&T says setup and pairing occur automatically. Its instructions warn that a third-party router must be in bridge or passthrough mode for this feature to work; static-IP setups have additional addressing conditions. Consult the AT&T FAQ for the setup details that apply to your network.

AT&T says it supplies Cat 6 Ethernet cables with its internet equipment and recommends Category 6 or better as a replacement. A cable purchase is therefore relevant if you need a replacement or wired backhaul, not a requirement for every customer.

Before choosing, weigh the monthly charge and your plan’s inclusion, compatibility with your gateway or hub, return obligations, and whether Smart Home Manager integration matters to you. AT&T documents support for its listed equipment, but that does not establish that an arbitrary retail extender will pair with AT&T equipment or provide the same managed features. If you choose separate hardware, verify compatibility for your exact gateway rather than assuming that any Wi-Fi extender will work.
