AT&T says eligible customers can get up to $1,200 off the iPhone Duo, but the savings come as 36 monthly bill credits—not an upfront discount. The offer requires a qualifying trade-in worth at least $230, at least $1,999.99 financed, and activation on AT&T Premium 2.0, which AT&T lists at a minimum of $100 per month before taxes, fees, and discounts.
When iPhone Duo preorders start at AT&T
AT&T’s October 9, 2026 announcement says preorders open Friday, October 16, and general availability begins Friday, October 23. The product listing specifies a 5:00 a.m. PT preorder start. How the $1,200 discount works
AT&T advertises up to $1,200 off after 36 monthly bill credits. Its product page lists a $1,999.99 retail price and shows a monthly price as low as $22.23 with an eligible trade-in, as well as a $55.56 monthly figure. The lower displayed amount depends on qualifying for the credits; it is not the phone’s upfront price. AT&T says the promotion requires at least $1,999.99 on an installment plan and describes 0% APR 36-month financing for well-qualified customers. Taxes on the full retail price are due at sale.
AT&T says credits can take up to three bills to begin. The monthly amount you actually pay depends on your eligibility and how the credits apply to your installment payments, so review the full price and credit schedule at checkout rather than treating the advertised maximum as a guaranteed discount.

What you need to qualify
The October 9 Duo-specific offer footnote sets these requirements:
- Trade-in: An eligible smartphone with a minimum trade-in value of $230.
- Installment plan: At least $1,999.99 financed.
- Service plan: Activation on AT&T Premium 2.0, listed at a minimum of $100 per month before taxes, fees, and discounts. AT&T says not all plans qualify.
- Customer qualification: You must be well-qualified for the installment plan.
AT&T says offer values can vary with the device, plan, and trade-in combination, and the offer is subject to change. Confirm that your exact phone, account, and plan combination qualifies in checkout. Costs and risks to check before ordering
- Credits depend on keeping service: Cancelling service stops remaining credits, and the remaining device balance becomes due.
- Extra charges apply: AT&T says an activation or upgrade charge, taxes, fees, and restrictions apply.
- Trade-in value matters: The $1,200 maximum is not automatic; your trade-in must be eligible and valued at $230 or more under the offer.
- Switching offer is separate: AT&T also advertises up to $800 toward a competing device balance for customers who port in a new line and meet its requirements. That is a different promotion, with reward-card redemption and proof of balance required; it is not part of the Duo trade-in credits.
How to decide whether the deal is worthwhile
Compare the full cost over the 36-month installment period, not just the advertised credit. Include the Premium 2.0 plan cost, taxes and fees, the value of the phone you would trade in, and the possibility that cancelling service ends future credits. Then consider whether you specifically want a foldable phone. AT&T describes the Duo as having a 7.6-inch inner display, a 5.4-inch outer display, and an A20 Pro chip; those are vendor-published specifications, not independent test results. AT&T lists Star White and Night Sky colors and says the phone is eSIM-only.
AT&T lists the Apple Case for iPhone Duo at $79 on its product page. That is a listed accessory price, separate from the phone promotion.
