To reach AT&T, start with the service you need help with: wireless customers can call 800.331.0500 or 611 from an AT&T mobile device; internet and home-phone customers can call 800.288.2020. AT&T also lists chat and callback options. It does not publish a universal keypad shortcut that guarantees a live representative.

Choose the right AT&T contact route

AT&T routes support by service, so first select the category that matches your account on its contact page. The available categories include Wireless, AT&T Prepaid, Internet, DIRECTV, U-verse TV, and home phone. Each can show relevant phone numbers, chat options, and support tips.

Service or need Published contact route Hours or details
Wireless 800.331.0500 or 611 from an AT&T mobile device AT&T’s general support page lists wireless support as available 24/7. Its wireless bill-and-account page lists Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. CT, and Saturday–Sunday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. CT. Check the page for your specific issue before relying on hours.
Internet or home phone 800.288.2020 AT&T’s general support page lists this line as available 24/7.
Accessibility support National Center for Customers with Disabilities voice support: 866.241.6568; TTY: 866.241.6567. AT&T also lists 800.288.2020 for disability-service support across Wireless, Internet, AT&T Phone, and U-verse TV. Posted hours for the National Center are Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–7 p.m. CT, and Saturday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m. CT; Sunday is closed. Confirm the route and current hours on AT&T’s accessibility support page.

The wireless availability details differ by page and issue: one general listing says 24/7, while the bill-and-account page gives specific hours. Use the service-specific support page for the issue you have rather than assuming all wireless help has identical hours.

How to speak to an AT&T representative

  1. Identify the service and issue. Decide whether you need Wireless, Prepaid, Internet, home phone, or TV support, and whether your question is about billing, an account, or technical help.
  2. Open AT&T’s contact page and select your service. Review the contact options shown for that category instead of assuming one phone number works for every AT&T account.
  3. Call the listed number or start chat. Follow the prompts for your issue. AT&T lists chat with a representative on its wireless support page and offers chat options after service selection; availability may depend on service and time.
  4. Use callback when offered. AT&T’s support page says, “Speak to a tech expert within five minutes or schedule a callback at a time you prefer.” This is AT&T’s statement about its support option, not a guarantee that every caller or issue will reach a person within five minutes.

Have account details available if the page or representative requests them. AT&T warns that it will never call a customer to ask for a one-time PIN, so do not give one to an unsolicited caller.

Can you bypass AT&T’s automated phone system?

AT&T’s published support pages provide contact numbers, chat, service selection, and callback information, but do not document a universal keypress sequence or phrase that reliably bypasses the automated menu. Follow the prompts for your issue and use a published chat or callback option if it better suits your situation. Treat menu shortcuts shared elsewhere as unverified rather than guaranteed.

When to use chat, callback, or accessibility support

Chat

Choose chat if AT&T offers it for your service and you prefer messaging to a phone call. The company lists chat with a representative for wireless support and presents options by service on its contact page; neither page promises an immediate representative.

Voice or TTY accessibility support

For disability-related support, check AT&T’s current accessibility page for its National Center voice and TTY routes, posted hours, and the broader disability-service number. This helps avoid routing an accessibility request through a general queue when AT&T lists a dedicated option.
