Yes. In the planned Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories, players will be able to decide whether snack eating changes Karia’s body shape. The announced settings support three play styles: dynamic changes, no changes, or a preferred shape that stays locked while the wider feature remains enabled.
What the body-shape setting does
The feature is designed to make body-shape changes optional rather than mandatory. The official announcement says, “Players will be able to turn body shape changes ON or OFF according to their preferences.” This means the setting affects how the game applies snack-related changes, not whether players can eat snacks at all.
ON: snacks can change Karia’s shape
When body-shape changes are turned ON, Karia’s body shape changes according to how much she eats during snacks. Eating therefore has a visible character-customization consequence in this mode. The announcement does not specify the exact shape range, how quickly changes occur, which snacks have what effect, or whether the result affects gameplay statistics.

OFF: eating does not change her shape
With the feature OFF, Karia’s body shape remains unchanged regardless of how much she eats. The official wording is explicit: “When it is turned OFF, her body shape will not change no matter how much she eats.” This is the appropriate choice for players who want snack activity without an evolving body model.

- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Locked: keep one preferred shape
A third option sits between the two main states. Players can leave body-shape changes ON, choose a preferred shape, and lock it. Once locked, further eating will not change that selected shape. The announcement describes this as a way to preserve a preferred appearance while keeping the broader feature enabled.
How the three modes compare
| Mode | What happens when Karia eats snacks | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| Dynamic (ON) | Her body shape responds to how much she eats. | Players who want eating to produce visible changes. |
| OFF | Her body shape does not change, regardless of snack quantity. | Players who prefer a consistent appearance. |
| Locked | A chosen shape is held even though the body-shape feature remains enabled. | Players who want one appearance without disabling the feature entirely. |
These are preference options, not difficulty levels. The announcement presents all three as supported ways to play and does not say that one mode provides a gameplay advantage.

What is confirmed—and what is not
The setting is a planned feature for Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories. The announcement does not provide a release date, platform list, edition details, price, retail SKU, or a date when the toggle will become available. It therefore should not be treated as a feature that is already live or as evidence that the game can currently be purchased.
- Confirmed: body-shape changes can be switched ON or OFF.
- Confirmed: ON links shape changes to the amount Karia eats during snacks.
- Confirmed: OFF prevents snack eating from changing her shape.
- Confirmed: a lock can preserve a preferred shape while the feature remains enabled.
- Not stated: the exact menu path, shape limits, snack-by-snack values, save behavior, or effects on combat and other systems.
Why the feature was announced
The decision followed more than 38,000 survey responses, according to the Atelier Karia official website’s 2026 announcement. The body-shape controls were part of a broader set of survey-related plans. The announcement also says selected costumes will be added, a special short story will be created from the selected theme, and developers plan to answer the three most-selected questions on the official X account.

Those costumes, the short story, and the developer answers are announced plans rather than confirmation that the content has already been released. The survey statistic likewise describes the response total; it does not establish how many respondents selected each body-shape option.
How to choose a mode when the game supports it
The announcement confirms the available behaviors but does not publish the final interface labels or navigation path. When the feature is implemented, look for a body-shape or gameplay-preference setting and use the option that matches your goal:

Atelier Karia: The Night Kingdom & the Guide of Memories is planned to let each player decide how strongly snack eating affects Karia’s appearance. Dynamic mode makes eating responsive, OFF removes the visual change, and the lock option preserves a chosen shape without disabling the feature altogether. The flexibility is confirmed; release timing and implementation details remain unannounced.
