Choose the Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT when you need Bluetooth playback to compatible speakers or headphones. Choose the AT-LP60X when your system is wired and you have no use for wireless pairing. The BT model keeps the LP60X’s automatic belt-drive design and wired RCA connection, so Bluetooth is a connectivity option—not a replacement for conventional audio equipment.

AT-LP60XBT vs. AT-LP60X: the practical difference

Audio-Technica describes the AT-LP60XBT as the AT-LP60X feature set with a Bluetooth interface added. That makes the decision straightforward: identify whether the turntable must send audio wirelessly. If the answer is yes, the AT-LP60XBT is the relevant model. If the turntable will connect only to a receiver, amplifier, powered speakers or another wired device, the AT-LP60X may be the simpler fit.

Decision factor AT-LP60XBT AT-LP60X What it means
Bluetooth playback Included; supports compatible Bluetooth speakers and headphones Not included Wireless listening requires the BT model or a separate external solution.
Wired audio Supported through RCA output, with PHONO and LINE levels Designed for a wired setup Either model can be used in a conventional cable-based system; select the correct output level.
Operation Fully automatic, belt driven Audio-Technica presents the feature set as the LP60X platform The documented BT design starts and returns the tonearm automatically.
Record speeds 33-1/3 and 45 RPM LP60X platform feature set These are the two speeds supported by the BT manual.
Wireless codec support A2DP profile, SBC and Qualcomm aptX audio Not applicable The receiving speaker or headphones must support a compatible Bluetooth profile and codec.
Approximate footprint and weight 359.5 × 97.5 × 373.3 mm; 2.6 kg, according to the US BT manual Not stated in the supplied LP60XBT documentation Allow space for the BT model’s dimensions and verify the exact regional model before buying.

What Bluetooth adds—and what it does not

Wireless playback to compatible devices

The AT-LP60XBT’s Bluetooth radio is intended to pair the turntable directly with a compatible speaker or pair of headphones. The US manual specifies Bluetooth 5.0, the Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP), SBC, and Qualcomm aptX audio support. A2DP is the profile used for stereo music streaming; SBC is the baseline codec, while aptX can be used only when the receiving equipment also supports a compatible aptX implementation.

The manual gives an approximate 10 m (33 ft) line-of-sight communication range. That is a manufacturer specification under unobstructed conditions, not a guarantee that a connection will remain stable at that distance in every home. Walls, floors, cabinets, radio interference and the receiver’s own antenna can reduce the usable range. Keep the turntable and receiver reasonably close during initial pairing, then test the position in which you intend to listen.

Bluetooth is not a sound-quality guarantee

Neither the product description nor the manuals establish that the BT version sounds better than the wired model. Bluetooth introduces a wireless transmission stage, and the final result depends on the receiver, codec negotiation and listening environment. aptX support on the turntable does not force a receiver to use aptX; if the receiving device supports only SBC, the connection will use the compatible option.

The BT model still works with cables

Bluetooth does not prevent a wired installation. The BT manual documents RCA outputs with selectable PHONO and LINE levels and an integrated phono preamplifier. This lets the turntable feed equipment that expects a phono-level signal or equipment that accepts a standard line-level input, provided the output setting and the destination input match.

A powered speaker, soundbar or amplifier input labeled AUX, LINE or a similar line-level name normally requires the turntable’s LINE output. A dedicated PHONO input expects the lower-level phono signal and applies its own equalization. Do not treat PHONO and LINE as interchangeable: choosing the wrong combination can produce very low, distorted or excessively loud audio.

How the two models fit common listening systems

You own Bluetooth speakers or headphones

Choose the AT-LP60XBT if direct wireless playback is a required part of your setup. It avoids running an RCA cable across the room and allows listening through Bluetooth headphones when the receiving headphones support the necessary profile. Confirm that your intended receiver accepts A2DP stereo audio before purchase; a device that handles Bluetooth calls but not A2DP music is not a suitable target.

You already have a receiver or powered speakers with RCA inputs

Either model can serve a wired system. In this case, Bluetooth is optional rather than essential. Compare the current regional prices, included cables and availability of the two exact models. The evidence available for the BT version does not establish a universal price premium, so do not assume that the wireless model is always more expensive or always better value.

You want both wired and wireless listening

The AT-LP60XBT is the only one of these two models that covers both paths without adding a separate Bluetooth transmitter. You can use its RCA output with a wired amplifier and pair it with a compatible wireless receiver when convenience matters. Treat each connection as a separate signal path and check which device is active before troubleshooting silence.

  • Operates Like a Regular Turntable: The AT-LP60XBT can be operated just like a regular turntable with a traditional wired connection. Whether you go wired or wireless you'll get outstanding audio with the ease of automatic operation

You want the fewest connection choices

The AT-LP60X removes Bluetooth pairing from the system. That can be preferable when the turntable will remain beside a stereo receiver and no one needs wireless headphones or speakers. Fewer connection options also means fewer compatibility questions, although the turntable still requires the correct phono or line input on the rest of the system.

AT-LP60XBT specifications explained

The following figures come from the US AT-LP60XBT User Manual, version 2. The manual notes that specifications may change without notice. They describe the documented model and should not be treated as independently measured performance for every regional variant.

Specification AT-LP60XBT manual value Why it matters
Drive and operation Fully automatic belt drive; DC servo-controlled motor The motor drives the platter through a belt, while automatic controls handle start, stop and tonearm return.
Speeds 33-1/3 and 45 RPM These cover standard LP and single-record speeds; select the speed printed for the record.
Platter Aluminum The platter is the rotating platform that supports the record.
Cartridge type VM cartridge type The cartridge converts stylus movement into the electrical audio signal.
Wow and flutter Below 0.25% (WTD) at 3 kHz This is the manufacturer’s stated speed-variation specification, not a listening test result.
Signal-to-noise ratio Above 50 dB (DIN-B) This indicates the specified noise relationship under the manual’s stated measurement standard.
PHONO output 2.5 mV nominal at 1 kHz, 5 cm/sec Use this level with equipment designed to accept a phono signal.
LINE output 150 mV nominal at the same reference Use this setting with a line-level input such as AUX or LINE.
Integrated phono preamp 36 dB nominal gain; RIAA equalized The built-in preamp enables the LINE output and applies the standard RIAA playback curve.
Dimensions 359.5 × 97.5 × 373.3 mm Reserve clearance for the turntable and its dust cover rather than measuring only the platter.
Weight 2.6 kg Use a stable, level surface that can support the unit without vibration.

Bluetooth pairing and wired setup

Pairing the AT-LP60XBT with a speaker or headphones

  1. Place the turntable and the Bluetooth receiver within a short, unobstructed distance for the first connection.
  2. Put the receiving speaker or headphones into their Bluetooth pairing mode. Confirm that the device supports A2DP stereo audio.
  3. Power the AT-LP60XBT and use the turntable’s Bluetooth pairing control as described in the current manual for your regional model.
  4. Wait for the receiver and turntable to complete pairing, then start a record using the automatic controls.
  5. If more than one receiver is nearby, switch off Bluetooth on the devices you do not want to use. This prevents the turntable from connecting to the wrong target.
  6. After pairing, move the receiver to its intended listening position and test playback. If dropouts occur, reduce obstructions and distance before assuming the turntable is defective.

The manual’s 10 m figure is line of sight. A room with walls or other radio devices can provide less range, so a successful close-range pairing is the most useful first diagnostic.

Audio-Technica AT-LP60XBT-RD Fully Automatic Belt-Drive Stereo Turntable, Red/Black, Bluetooth, Hi-Fi, 2 Speed
  • High-fidelity audio with Bluetooth wireless technology
  • Connects wirelessly to speakers and other devices equipped with Bluetooth wireless technology or to wired audio systems and powered speakers via included dual RCA output cable
  • Compatible with aptX codec
  • Fully automatic operation with two speeds 33-1/3 and 45 RPM
  • Anti-resonance die-cast aluminum platter

Connecting either model to wired equipment

  1. Turn off the amplifier or powered speakers before connecting the RCA cable.
  2. Connect the turntable’s RCA plugs to the destination’s input. Use a PHONO input only when the turntable is set to PHONO; use AUX, LINE or a comparable input when it is set to LINE.
  3. Set the turntable’s output selector to match the input you chose. The integrated preamp is used for LINE output.
  4. Power the system, select the same input on the amplifier, choose 33-1/3 or 45 RPM, and start playback with the automatic controls.
  5. If the sound is extremely quiet, distorted or unusually loud, stop playback and recheck the PHONO/LINE pairing before changing other settings.

The AT-LP60X follows the wired-use decision: it does not provide the BT model’s wireless path, so its RCA connection is the route to an amplifier or powered speaker.

Maintenance, stylus and belt replacement

Stylus part numbers vary by region

The US AT-LP60XBT manual lists the ATN3600L replacement stylus. An Audio-Technica German regional product page lists ATN3600LC instead. These suffixes are not interchangeable proof by themselves; match the replacement to the exact model designation, cartridge assembly and country documentation before ordering.

The belt is model-specific

The US manual identifies an AT-LP60X-exclusive replacement belt as a separately sold item. Keep the model name and suffix available when purchasing a belt, and use the installation procedure in the manual rather than stretching or twisting the belt around the platter. A belt that is the wrong length or profile can cause speed instability or prevent the platter from turning.

Verify parts before buying

  • Read the model label on the turntable, not only the retailer’s shortened title.
  • Match the replacement stylus suffix to the regional manual or Audio-Technica parts listing.
  • Confirm that a belt is identified for the AT-LP60X family before purchase.
  • Check the package contents and parts availability in your country; regional pages can change and the German listing was captured about five months before October 2026.

Common problems and practical fixes

Symptom Most likely check Corrective action
The speaker does not appear during Bluetooth setup The receiver is not in A2DP pairing mode, or another device is already connected. Enable pairing on the intended speaker or headphones, disconnect nearby Bluetooth devices, and retry at short range.
Playback works close up but drops out across the room The stated 10 m range assumes line of sight. Reduce distance and obstacles; test the receiver in a location with fewer walls and competing radio devices.
Wired audio is barely audible The turntable is feeding a line input while set to PHONO. Select LINE for AUX/LINE-type inputs, or use PHONO only with a dedicated phono input.
Wired audio is badly distorted or too loud A PHONO output is connected to a line input, or a LINE output is connected to equipment that applies phono gain. Stop playback and make the output selector and destination input agree.
The replacement stylus does not fit The suffix or regional part number does not match. Verify the model and region, then obtain the stylus specified for that exact unit.
The platter will not maintain speed after belt service The belt may be incorrectly sized, twisted or not seated correctly. Use the AT-LP60X-specific belt identified by the manual and reinstall it according to the manufacturer’s procedure.

Price, availability and regional details

No current price comparison was established for the AT-LP60XBT and AT-LP60X. Prices, colors, included cables and stock vary by country and can change without notice. Compare listings that identify the exact model, note the currency and date, and check the seller’s stated contents before treating one model as a bargain.

The German Audio-Technica product page documents regional connectivity and an ATN3600LC listing, while the US manual uses ATN3600L. That difference illustrates why a part number or package description from another country should not be copied blindly. The US AT-LP60XBT manual is version 2 with a 2019 document reference; a separate 2020 AT-LP60XBT-USB manual was used to cross-check Bluetooth specifications, but USB-specific details do not apply to either turntable in this comparison.

A decision checklist

  • Need direct wireless playback? Select the AT-LP60XBT and confirm that the intended speaker or headphones support Bluetooth A2DP music audio.
  • Already have a wired stereo system? Either model can work; choose based on current local price, availability and whether future wireless use matters.
  • Want both connection types? The AT-LP60XBT provides Bluetooth plus RCA output, with PHONO and LINE choices.
  • Prefer a deliberately wired-only installation? The AT-LP60X avoids Bluetooth pairing and keeps the system focused on RCA connection.
  • Replacing a stylus or belt? Verify the exact model and regional suffix before ordering; the documented stylus names differ between US and German materials.

Final recommendation

The AT-LP60XBT is the more capable choice when wireless playback is part of your listening plan, and its wired RCA output means you do not give up compatibility with a conventional amplifier. The AT-LP60X is the sensible choice for a permanently wired setup in which Bluetooth would remain unused. Neither model has an established sound-quality advantage in the available manufacturer documentation, so base the decision on connection requirements, receiver compatibility, regional price and the replacement parts available where you live.
