For most buyers, the Logitech G305 is the better wireless gaming mouse. It costs far less at the prices recorded on October 18, 2026, lasts longer on one battery and uses Logitech’s proven 2.4GHz LIGHTSPEED connection. The Asus TUF Gaming Mini Wireless Mouse is the more specialized option: choose it when you want a rechargeable battery, wired/2.4GHz/Bluetooth connectivity, a compact 65g shell for small-to-medium hands or the Hatsune Miku design.

Both mice reach 12,000 DPI and support 1,000Hz-class wired or 2.4GHz play, so the decision is less about headline sensitivity than about price, power management, connection flexibility, shape and how seriously you play competitive games.

Quick verdict

Choose Why it makes sense Main compromise
Logitech G305 Lowest recorded price, 250-hour AA battery rating, mature 2.4GHz LIGHTSPEED wireless and a sensor specified without smoothing, acceleration or filtering. Heavier 99g body, replaceable-AA power and only the cited 2.4GHz wireless mode.
Asus TUF Gaming Mini Wireless Mouse Rechargeable 134-hour battery, wired/2.4GHz/Bluetooth tri-mode operation, 65g compact right-handed shape and Hatsune Miku styling. Much higher recorded price, 125Hz polling over Bluetooth and a stiff scroll wheel that can fatigue during long use.

Tom’s Guide senior writer Nikita Achanta describes the Asus as “a decent middle-of-the-road gaming mouse, if you don’t play competitively.” That is the most useful way to frame this comparison: the Asus is a comfort-and-flexibility purchase, while the G305 is the value-and-endurance purchase.

Price: the G305 is in a different value class

At the recorded prices, the G305 is roughly one-third of the Asus’s US price. That changes the standard for what each mouse must deliver. The G305 only needs to provide reliable low-latency wireless and long battery life to be a strong purchase at $39.99. The Asus has to justify a $109 price through qualities that specifications alone do not capture: its lighter body, rechargeable power, three connection modes and limited-edition styling.

What the G305 price buys

  • A HERO sensor covering 200–12,000 DPI with Logitech’s stated absence of smoothing, acceleration and filtering.
  • LIGHTSPEED 2.4GHz wireless with a stated 1ms response claim.
  • A 250-hour rating from one AA battery, which reduces charging interruptions.
  • A 99g mouse with a conventional, full-size footprint.

What the Asus premium buys

  • A rechargeable internal battery rather than disposable or replaceable AA power.
  • Wired, 2.4GHz dongle and Bluetooth operation from one mouse.
  • A 65g compact shell intended for small-to-medium hands.
  • Hatsune Miku-themed industrial design that the G305 does not offer.

Neither mouse’s price should be treated as a direct measure of competitive performance. The Asus review notes that 12,000 DPI and 1,000Hz polling are available on cheaper mice, so paying more only for those two numbers is difficult to defend.

Battery life and charging burden

G305: longer endurance, no charging cable

Logitech rates the G305 for 250 hours on a single AA battery. That is the stronger choice if your priority is maximum time between power changes or if you dislike plugging a mouse in at the end of a session. A spare AA can restore operation quickly, although the long rating means many owners will not need to think about it frequently.

Asus: rechargeable convenience with a shorter rating

The Asus is rated for 134 hours. Its rechargeable design avoids buying replacement cells and lets you run the mouse over a cable when needed. The trade-off is that its rated runtime is 116 hours shorter than the G305’s stated figure, so charging becomes part of ownership.

Anker USB C Hub, 5-in-1 USBC to HDMI Splitter with 4K Display | 85W Max PD, 1 Powered USB-C 5Gbps & 2 Powered USB-A 3.0 5Gbps Data Ports, for MacBook Pro, MacBook Air, Dell and More (Black)
  • 5-in-1 Connectivity: Equipped with a 4K HDMI port, a 5 Gbps USB-C data port, two 5 Gbps USB-A ports, and a USB C 100W PD-IN port. Note: The USB C 100W PD-IN port supports only charging and does not support data transfer devices such as headphones or speakers.
  • Powerful Pass-Through Charging: Supports up to 85W pass-through charging so you can power up your laptop while you use the hub. Note: Pass-through charging requires a charger (not included). Note: To achieve full power for iPad, we recommend using a 45W wall charger.
  • Transfer Files in Seconds: Move files to and from your laptop at speeds of up to 5 Gbps via the USB-C and USB-A data ports. Note: The USB C 5Gbps Data port does not support video output.
  • HD Display: Connect to the HDMI port to stream or mirror content to an external monitor in resolutions of up to 4K@30Hz. Note: The USB-C ports do not support video output.
  • What You Get: Anker 332 USB-C Hub (5-in-1), welcome guide, our worry-free 18-month warranty, and friendly customer service.

These are manufacturer or review ratings rather than a guarantee of your exact runtime. Lighting, polling mode and usage patterns can affect endurance. The meaningful distinction remains simple: the G305 maximizes time between battery changes; the Asus eliminates disposable batteries and adds wired operation.

Connectivity: flexibility versus a focused wireless link

Asus tri-mode operation

The TUF Gaming Mini can connect by cable, 2.4GHz dongle or Bluetooth. Wired mode is useful when charging or when a wireless connection is unavailable. The 2.4GHz mode is the appropriate choice for gaming when you want the mouse’s cited 1,000Hz polling. Bluetooth is convenient for laptops, tablets and systems where you do not want to occupy a USB port, but Tom’s Guide records a 125Hz polling rate over Bluetooth.

A 125Hz Bluetooth link reports position less frequently than the mouse’s 1,000Hz wired or 2.4GHz rating. That makes Bluetooth a convenience mode rather than the mode to select for the lowest-latency competitive play.

G305 LIGHTSPEED wireless

The cited Logitech specification centers on LIGHTSPEED 2.4GHz wireless and a 1ms response claim. It does not list Bluetooth or wired operation in the supplied material. That narrower feature set is an advantage if you want a straightforward gaming setup and a disadvantage if one mouse must serve several devices with different connection requirements.

Sensor and gaming performance

Everyday and casual gaming

Both mice reach 12,000 DPI and provide enough sensitivity range for ordinary desktop work and gaming. Most players will not use the maximum setting; the practical benefit is the ability to choose a comfortable sensitivity without running out of range.

In Counter-Strike 2 and Cyberpunk 2077, Tom’s Guide’s reviewer reported no noticeable latency or input-lag problems with the Asus. The review considers its 1,000Hz polling and 12,000 DPI sufficient for casual gaming. That supports the Asus as a competent everyday gaming mouse, not as evidence that it outperforms purpose-built competitive models.

Competitive play

The G305 has the clearer specification for buyers who care about unfiltered tracking: Logitech describes the HERO sensor as operating from 200 to 12,000 DPI with zero smoothing, acceleration or filtering, and pairs it with a 1ms LIGHTSPEED claim. Those statements address the tracking behavior competitive players typically scrutinize.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

The Asus review explicitly warns that competitive players may want more features. The mouse can still be used for competitive games, but the available evidence does not establish an esports advantage. If tournament performance is your deciding criterion, treat the Asus as a casual-to-general gaming model and select the G305 when you want the more narrowly focused performance specification.

Shape, weight and grip

Why the Asus suits smaller hands

The Asus weighs 65g and measures 4.53 × 2.5 × 1.48 inches. Tom’s Guide found it comfortable for small-to-medium hands and suitable for both palm and claw grips. Its right-handed shape, low mass and compact dimensions can make quick repositioning easier for users who find larger mice tiring.

The same review praises the sturdy feel and glide. It also identifies a stiff, high-resistance scroll wheel that can become fatiguing. If you scroll through long documents, use the wheel constantly in games or prefer a light tactile wheel, test this characteristic before committing to the premium price.

What the G305’s 99g body means

Logitech lists the G305 at 99g and gives dimensions of 116.6 × 62.15 × 38.2mm. It is therefore 34g heavier than the Asus and presents a fuller, more conventional footprint. That can feel more planted to users who prefer a substantial mouse, while people accustomed to ultralight designs may notice the extra mass during repeated lifts.

The supplied specifications do not establish a universal hand-size recommendation for the G305. Match its measured dimensions and 99g weight to your grip and desk space rather than assuming that one shape works for everyone.

Which mouse fits your use case?

Buy the Logitech G305 if you want the best value

  • Your budget is close to the recorded $39.99 special price.
  • You want 250-hour rated endurance from one AA battery.
  • You prefer a focused 2.4GHz gaming connection instead of multiple modes.
  • You care about a sensor specification that explicitly rules out smoothing, acceleration and filtering.
  • You play competitive games and do not need the Asus’s rechargeable or Bluetooth features.

Buy the Asus TUF Gaming Mini if you need flexibility

  • You specifically want rechargeable power and accept a 134-hour rating.
  • You regularly switch between a desktop, laptop or other devices and need wired, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth options.
  • You have small-to-medium hands and prefer a 65g compact mouse.
  • You use palm or claw grip and value the reviewed sturdy feel and glide.
  • You are buying the Hatsune Miku styling as part of the product’s appeal.

Think twice about the Asus when price is the priority

At $109 in the cited 2026 review, the Asus costs substantially more without offering a documented sensor or polling advantage over the G305. Its premium is rational only when its physical design, rechargeable battery, connection choices or character styling solves a problem for you.

Setup decisions that prevent common disappointments

Use the right wireless mode

Use the Asus’s 2.4GHz dongle for normal gaming and reserve Bluetooth for convenience or multi-device use. Selecting Bluetooth because it avoids a dongle also means accepting the cited 125Hz polling rate. For the G305, use its LIGHTSPEED 2.4GHz connection as specified for gaming.

Choose sensitivity for control, not the maximum number

Both products top out at 12,000 DPI. Start at a comfortable setting and adjust in your game; maximum DPI is a ceiling, not a performance requirement. The G305’s 200 DPI lower bound gives very low-sensitivity players more range than a mouse whose published range begins higher.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Plan power around your routine

Keep a replacement AA available if you use the G305 so a depleted cell does not interrupt play. With the Asus, treat charging as routine maintenance and remember that wired operation is available when the battery needs attention. The two designs solve power inconvenience differently rather than one eliminating it entirely.

Advantages and drawbacks at a glance

Mouse Advantages Drawbacks
Asus TUF Gaming Mini 65g weight; compact right-handed shell; rechargeable battery; wired, 2.4GHz and Bluetooth; 1,000Hz polling; six buttons; comfortable for small-to-medium hands in the cited review; Hatsune Miku design. 134-hour rating is shorter than the G305’s; Bluetooth is limited to 125Hz; stiff high-resistance scroll wheel; $109 / £92 review price is difficult to justify on specifications alone; competitive features are less extensive.
Logitech G305 $39.99 special price in the cited US-store snapshot; 250-hour AA rating; HERO sensor at 200–12,000 DPI with zero smoothing, acceleration or filtering; 1ms LIGHTSPEED claim. 99g weight; requires an AA battery; cited material does not list Bluetooth or wired operation; shape and hand-size fit are not established universally by the supplied specifications.

Bottom line for different buyers

Choose the Logitech G305 when you want a dependable budget gaming mouse with long battery life and a clear 2.4GHz performance specification. Its recorded special price makes it the sensible default for most shoppers.

Choose the Asus TUF Gaming Mini Wireless Mouse when the product’s specific advantages matter more than cost: a 65g compact body, rechargeable power, three connection methods or Hatsune Miku styling. It is a reasonable casual-gaming mouse for small-to-medium hands, but the evidence does not support paying its premium for competitive superiority.
