The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG32UCDP is a 31.5-inch WOLED gaming monitor with two distinct modes: 4K at up to 240Hz for detailed play, or 1080p at up to 480Hz for competitive gaming. Its strongest advantages are that flexibility, OLED contrast, and useful USB-C connectivity. The main trade-offs are the resolution drop at 480Hz, no built-in speakers, and text clarity that may be less appealing than some QD-OLED alternatives.

What are the PG32UCDP’s main pros and cons?

Pros Cons
  • Switches between 3840 × 2160 at up to 240Hz and 1920 × 1080 at up to 480Hz.
  • WOLED contrast, HDR10 support, and broad color coverage.
  • USB-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and power delivery, plus a USB hub and KVM.
  • ASUS advertises OLED Care features and a three-year warranty.
  • 480Hz requires switching to 1080p; it is not 4K at 480Hz.
  • No integrated speakers.
  • Text clarity and subpixel artifacts may be a consideration for extended desktop work.
  • OLED ownership involves using panel-care features; those features do not establish a particular lifespan or guarantee a burn-in outcome.

What does dual mode mean in practice?

The panel’s native resolution is 3840 × 2160, with a refresh rate up to 240Hz. For compatible games, the monitor can instead run at 1920 × 1080 and up to 480Hz. These are two resolution-and-refresh combinations, not a single mode that delivers 4K and 480Hz together. ASUS lists a 0.03ms GTG response time; that is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of a particular end-to-end input-lag result. ASUS ROG’s product page and its US technical specifications describe the two modes.

When 4K at 240Hz makes sense

Use the native 4K mode when detail and screen sharpness matter more than the highest possible refresh ceiling. It is the more natural fit for visually rich games, general desktop work, and users who want to take advantage of the panel’s native resolution. To benefit from high refresh rates in a particular game, the PC or console also needs to output the relevant resolution and frame rate.

When 1080p at 480Hz makes sense

The FHD mode targets players who prioritize very high refresh rates in games that can produce correspondingly high frame rates. The trade-off is visible resolution: on a 31.5-inch screen, 1080p does not have the same fine detail as 4K. Whether that looks acceptable depends on viewing distance and personal preference. If you expect to use 480Hz often, try the mode at your normal desk distance before buying if possible.

How good is the image for games and HDR?

ASUS specifies a WOLED panel, HDR10, 99% DCI-P3 coverage, and a very high typical contrast ratio. Those are manufacturer specifications and describe capabilities, not a guarantee that every game or HDR scene will look the same. Independent testing adds context: TechSpot reported a peak of 1,200 nits on a 2% window in its test of the PG32UCDP. That is a small-window result from that outlet’s review, not a sustained-brightness promise for all content. TechSpot’s review discusses its testing, while Tom’s Hardware’s August 2024 review and RTINGS’ review assess the monitor independently.

Is the PG32UCDP suitable for work and everyday use?

Its resolution and connectivity can make it useful beyond gaming, but text rendering deserves attention. TechSpot characterizes QD-OLED as having a slight edge in text clarity while noting that WOLED and QD-OLED have different artifacts. That is a reviewer’s comparison, not a universal account of what every user will notice. If your day includes long reading or office sessions, compare the display with alternatives in person when practical and judge text at your usual scaling and viewing distance.

The monitor has no built-in speakers according to ASUS’s US specifications, so plan on using separate speakers, headphones, or another audio output for PC and console sound.

Which ports and desk features does it offer?

The US specification page lists two HDMI 2.1 ports, one DisplayPort 1.4 connection with DSC, one USB-C port with DisplayPort Alt Mode, and three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A hub ports. USB-C power delivery is specified up to 90W; ASUS says the default is 65W and that 90W can be enabled in the on-screen display. This can help simplify a laptop-plus-desktop setup, although actual charging suitability depends on the laptop’s requirements. ASUS also lists KVM functionality for switching control of connected computers. Check the official US specifications for the port details.

How should you compare it with other 32-inch OLED monitors?

The PG32UCDP’s most defining comparison point is its 1080p/480Hz option. RTINGS lists the LG 32GS95UE-B among relevant alternatives, alongside 32-inch QD-OLED models including the Samsung Odyssey OLED G8/G80SD and Dell Alienware AW3225QF. The right choice depends on which features you will actually use, rather than on the OLED label alone.

  • Resolution and refresh: Compare native resolution and maximum refresh, and check whether an alternative offers a high-refresh fallback mode.
  • Desktop text: Look at text clarity and subpixel behavior if you spend substantial time reading or editing documents.
  • Connections: Check for USB-C video and charging, a USB hub, and KVM if you switch between computers.
  • Image characteristics: Compare panel type and independent assessments of HDR and image quality.
  • Ownership terms: Confirm warranty coverage in your country, including the exact OLED-related terms; ASUS advertises a three-year warranty, but local terms should be verified.
  • Price and availability: Compare current listings in your region. Older review prices are not a reliable guide to what the monitor costs now.

RTINGS’ PG32UCDP review lists comparison models and reports a review date of September 20, 2024, with a test-bench update dated March 17, 2026.

Who should choose the PG32UCDP?

It is a strong fit for someone who will genuinely switch between high-detail 4K gaming and the 1080p/480Hz mode, and who values USB-C, KVM, and OLED contrast. It is less compelling if you require 4K at the highest available refresh rate, expect 1080p to look as sharp as 4K at this screen size, need built-in speakers, or are especially sensitive to desktop text rendering. Since retail price and stock change by region and date, assess value using a current local listing rather than an older review price.
