ASUS has announced the 14-inch ExpertBook A7, a thin-and-light business laptop aimed at buyers who might otherwise choose Apple’s MacBook Air M5. Its headline combination is a precision-milled aluminum chassis, a 3K OLED panel with a variable refresh rate up to 120Hz, AMD Ryzen AI processors and business-focused security support. ASUS announced the model on October 14, 2026.
What the ASUS ExpertBook A7 includes
The ExpertBook A7 is built around a 14-inch 2,880×1,800 OLED display. The panel supports variable refresh from 48Hz to 120Hz, which can make scrolling and motion look smoother while allowing the system to use lower refresh rates when high speed is unnecessary. ASUS lists full 100% DCI-P3 color coverage and offers an anti-glare treatment as an option.
The display specification is a notable contrast with the conventional 60Hz panels still common in ultraportable business laptops. OLED also gives the A7 individually lit pixels, enabling deep blacks and high contrast, although buyers who work with static interfaces for very long periods should still consider their preferred OLED usage habits.

ASUS says the chassis is precision-milled from 6000-series aluminum. It is approximately 1cm thick and starts at 1.2kg, with Lunar Silver and Eclipse Black finishes. The quoted weight is a starting figure, so the final mass can vary with the selected configuration, display treatment and regional model.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
That combination places the A7 firmly in the ultraportable category: light enough for daily commuting and thin enough for a small bag, while retaining a metal enclosure rather than a plastic business-laptop shell.
AMD configurations and memory
The AMD edition uses either a Ryzen AI 5 330 or Ryzen AI 7 345 processor. ASUS lists up to 16GB of LPDDR5X memory and up to a 512GB PCIe solid-state drive.

Because memory is LPDDR5X, prospective buyers should select the capacity they need at purchase rather than assume a later memory upgrade will be possible. The 16GB ceiling is adequate for mainstream office work, browser-heavy workflows and many development tasks, but users running several virtual machines or large creative projects may want to check whether a higher-capacity configuration is offered in their country.
Battery claims and charging
ASUS advertises up to 21 hours of battery life and says the laptop can reach 50% charge in 30 minutes. The 21-hour figure comes from ASUS’s internal testing, not an independent review, and actual runtime will depend on the processor, screen refresh rate, display brightness, applications, wireless use and power settings. Treat it as a best-case manufacturer claim rather than a guaranteed full-day result for every configuration.

Business security and durability
The ExpertBook A7 includes ASUS’s ExpertGuardian security features, five years of BIOS and driver security updates, fingerprint authentication, FIDO2 support and a TPM 2.0 security module. ASUS also says the model has undergone MIL-STD-810H testing.
These features target organizations that need hardware-backed authentication and a defined security-maintenance period. MIL-STD-810H testing indicates assessment against specified durability conditions; it is not a promise that every laptop will survive any accident or environment.

Price, availability and the MacBook Air comparison
Notebookcheck reports US prices of $1,299.99 for Intel Core 5 versions and $1,599.99 for Intel Core 7 versions. Those figures apply to Intel variants, not the AMD configurations described above. ASUS has not established a single worldwide AMD price in the available launch information, and country-specific configurations can differ. Check the local ASUS store or authorized retailer for the exact processor, memory, storage and display option before ordering.

Quick Recap
Who should consider it?
- Mobile professionals: The 1.2kg starting weight, roughly 1cm profile and aluminum construction suit frequent travel.
- Windows users who want a premium display: The 3K OLED panel and up-to-120Hz refresh rate are unusual advantages in a business ultraportable.
- Organizations with security requirements: TPM 2.0, fingerprint and FIDO2 authentication, plus five years of BIOS and driver security updates, support managed deployments.
- Heavy workstation users: Verify the regional memory limit before buying; the published AMD specification tops out at 16GB LPDDR5X.
What to verify before buying
- Confirm whether the listing is an AMD Ryzen AI 5 330/Ryzen AI 7 345 model or an Intel variant.
- Check the installed memory and SSD capacity, because ASUS lists maximums rather than one universal configuration.
- Look for the anti-glare display option if reflections are a concern.
- Verify the local price, warranty terms and availability; launch specifications can vary by country.
- Compare the retailer’s stated battery and charger details with your expected workload instead of relying solely on the 21-hour claim.
