An Armored Core 6 fan is reportedly building an unofficial expansion called Frontier F, responding to the community’s long wait for confirmed post-launch DLC. The project is not FromSoftware content, and there is currently no verified public download, release date, creator profile, supported platform or installation guide.
What Frontier F is—and what it is not
Frontier F is described in an OpenGames report as a fan-made expansion or mod for Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon. Images and descriptions associated with the report show new-looking combat environments and Armored Core units, suggesting an attempt to create original playable-style content around the game’s mech-action framework.
That description does not make Frontier F an official expansion. FromSoftware and Bandai Namco have not announced Frontier F, and the available information does not establish that the project is complete or publicly playable. It should be treated as a community concept or work in progress until its creator publishes verifiable release information.
Why the project appeared now
The report’s “tired of waiting” framing reflects the absence of confirmed news about a traditional Armored Core 6 expansion. Community coverage has noted FromSoftware’s continued silence on that specific question, while fans have kept producing elaborate builds, challenge runs and other creative projects. Silence is not proof that an expansion has been cancelled or can never happen; it only means there is no confirmed announcement to point to.
#1 Best Overall
- Thrilling Boss Battles – Deploy a wide variety of offensive and defensive tactics at close and long range to take down powerful enemy bosses.
- Dynamic, Omni-directional Battles – Pilot your mech in fast-paced, omni-directional battles, taking advantage of your mech’s mobility both on land and in the air to ensure victory.
- Customise Your Mech to Your Playstyle – Explore a breadth of playstyles and combat styles by customising your mech’s buildout between missions. Pick and equip your preferred parts via a robust customisation system that can dramatically alter your play strategy, manoeuvrability and battle style as the action intensifies.
Armored Core 6’s design makes that kind of experimentation especially attractive. In an official Xbox Wire preview, director Masaru Yamamura said the team aimed to create a new mech-action game based on FromSoftware’s current experience. The same preview explains that parts change both a machine’s parameters and how its action feels. Because players are already expected to tune legs, weapons, generators, boosters and other components, fan creators have a strong mechanical foundation for imagining new missions, enemies, arenas and builds without abandoning the identity of the base game.
What has actually been shown
The indexed material tied to Frontier F points to new environments and Armored Core designs. It does not verify a complete campaign, a playable build, a finished mission list, multiplayer support or compatibility with a particular version of the game. Treat screenshots and descriptions as evidence of the project’s direction, not as a promise of content that can be installed today.

- A new action experience from the makers of Dark Souls and Elden Ring
- Assemble and pilot your own mech
- 3D manoeuvrability to move freely through three-dimensional fast-paced missions
- Take on difficult challenges and overwhelm your enemies
- Please note that although this game is Region Free or Region Unlocked and will work on all systems, this is the international version and may differ from the local version in age rating, labeling or instructions. DLC might not work properly unless proper region is selected.
Who is making Frontier F?
The creator’s identity has not been independently verified in the available material. No confirmed studio, team roster, official social account or development page is established. Until the person or team behind Frontier F publishes a primary channel, readers should be wary of reposts that attach an unverified name to the project.
Can you download and play it?
There is no verified download link or installation procedure for Frontier F at present. The project’s supported platform is also unknown. That leaves several practical questions unanswered:
Rank #3
- Turn on and burn all
- Whether it runs on the PC version of Armored Core 6, a console, or both.
- Whether it requires a specific game update, mod loader or other prerequisite.
- Whether it replaces files, adds a separate launch option or works through an external tool.
- Whether online features are disabled or restricted when modified files are present.
Do not install files advertised as Frontier F unless they come from a clearly identified creator and include trustworthy, version-specific instructions. Unverified mod downloads can be incomplete, incompatible or bundled with unwanted software. If an official release appears later, back up save data, read the required game version carefully and follow the creator’s rollback instructions before changing files.

Frontier F is part of a larger modding scene
Frontier F is not the only sign of ongoing Armored Core 6 community development. The Aftermath project publishes a monthly developer blog for an overhaul mod, demonstrating that sustained, technically ambitious mod work exists around the game. Aftermath is a separate project and should not be confused with Frontier F.

This broader scene matters because it shows why fans can continue extending the game even without an official expansion. However, activity elsewhere cannot confirm Frontier F’s own progress, authorship or release plans.

The most useful confirmation would come directly from the Frontier F creator: a named project page, a dated development update, a downloadable build, supported game version, platform statement and installation documentation. Those details would distinguish a playable mod from concept imagery or an early development showcase.
Best Value
Until then, the accurate takeaway is straightforward: Frontier F is a reported fan expansion inspired by the wait for official Armored Core 6 news, not announced DLC. Players who want to experience the systems it builds on still need the original Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon game.
